Donika MThe only part of this experience that was pleasant was Destiny, the very knowledgeable and professional staff member that got everything "set-up" for our move. We rented a unit in Bakersfield, reserved a 15ft truck in Atascadero with 130 no charge mileage, and live between the two cities. We called Atascadero to confirm our 2 day reservation and they had no 15ft trucks, or larger, nearest was San Luis Obispo, they told us Taft had a 15ft. Taft did not and only had 10ft one way trucks so we rented one, it had almost a half tank of gas and was pictured for the app at pick up. When we returned the truck to White Lane in Bakersfield, after only one day, the clerk tried to charge us to fill the tank, even though the contract showed less than a half tank, and charged us $85 for 79 extra miles. This makes the 10ft truck I had to rent since I was promised a 15ft truck and no one had one double the cost, your reservation system gave me a price, location and truck size, none of which was provided.

Sometimes there was a person or management to move the truck but there were several times no manager was available because the office hour's closed before the gate access hours did. Or the "real" manager was out of town and whoever was in charge was not reachable. Placing trucks in front of a unit and blocking access and not moving them is denying access to a unit I'm paying for.

Jennifer GI kept the vehicle I rented much longer than anticipated, and received pleasant daily calls from the assistant manager to extend my rental when each evening I didn't show up with the van as promised. The manager asked about my experience and was very friendly as well.

JESUS A | Expérience généraleWe reserved a 10' truck and appliance dolly. When we arrived for pick up, we were told the location only had a utility dolly not the appliance dolly we reserved. We were informed that it does not matter what we put in the reservation as the location is not obligated to provide us with the specific items we reserved, only something similar. The utility dolly was useless due to its low handle and small lip. Therefore, we had to pay $7 for an item that was not used and sat in the truck all day. The U-haul employee was not willing to give us the $7 refund or provide us with any type of reimbursement for lack of promised product. The employee was also rude during the rental experience. When asked to provide an alternate phone number, we provided her with one and she told us we gave her the same number and would not accept it, even though it was a different number. We had to convince her we were not lying. It was not a professional customer service experience. I would not recommend this location to family or friends.

Totally disgusting that you offer 1 free month and if the person stops using the storage at the 1 month mark you charge them for another month. That along with the insane prices you charge for a rental truck to move is disgusting.

Eryka C | Expérience généraleU-haul storage facility staff on Panama Lane in Bakersfield, CA took care of my accommodations in a friendly and professional manner. Any questions or concerns I had in my 4 month experience were promptly addressed. There were a few things that were irritating that I did not bring to their attention, but that did not reflect on their professionalism as they were either normal nuances or caused by other disrespectful renters. I paid an additional monthly fee for 24 hour access to my unit, which is why that portion was convenient, despite having to pay extra. My unit was of the smaller variety, so it's access was indoors. The indoor lighting was adequate, yet activated by motion sensors which became irritating when they would shut off while I was in the unit, forcing me to walk through the halls to make them turn back on. On my last day while moving out, there was another renter who was very rude and disrespectful. He had an outdoor unit near the entrance door where my unit was located. While I was inside, I heard a vehicle horn honking, so I went out to investigate. This guy was angry that I was parked in front of his unit which was because I had a U-haul trailer attached to my vehicle. I moved for him and carried on with emptying my unit, but he had another vehicle inside his unit which he started and left running for several minutes. The toxic exhaust fumes traveled through the enclosed building making it difficult to breathe. If that wasn't bad enough, he turned his stereo to max volume for about 20 minutes and the bass decibels caused the entire building to rattle and buzz adding to the stress level and headache caused by the toxic fumes. These issues aren't caused by the staff and I'm sure they would have dealt with the other renter, but I didn't address the situation because I was hurrying to move out before the office closed and figured the guy wouldn't be there long. On a positive note, U-haul has been a pleasurable company to do business with when I've needed to move and when I've had to store my belongings. I will continue to do business with and recommend them to family and friends for my future needs.

The management could be very harsh(in an extremely unprofessional way) but VERY on top of the up keep and cleanliness of the entire property especially the restroom! Once the new management took over it is nothing short of being the complete opposite. Everything is filthy, the restroom is nasty, no toilet paper or paper towels on top of the filthiness it smells like an outhouse, literally. Very sad.
