I did not mean to rent Furniture Pads. I performed the Check In online and still had to wait 20 minutes. The dolly was not in the truck, so we had to drive back and were not assisted with loading the dolly into our car as we had friends helping to load the truck to utilize our truck rental time. There is not enough parking for customers at this location. The 19,95* truck rental for our five hours of use ended up costing me just over 100,00 $.Michael S.

Your website for rental sucks. I requested a cargo van at Slaughter Lane location in Austin. I received a confirmation shortly after via email with the Slaughter Ln. location on it for the days I had requested . Thought I was all set. Got another email a couple days later that I glanced at thinking it was just another confirmation as it didn't have anything special to grab my attention such as CHANGE IN LOCATION! When I went to pick up at Slaughter Ln, they did not have my reservation. The manager and attendant on site couldn't have been any more flippant saying sorry nothing we can do. Your vehicle is reserved over at Research Blvd. some 25 or so miles away. Putting in a location means nothing to UHaul, in fact I believe there is bait and switch tactics at play here. When you reserve online, it asks for approximate mileage estimates for which you are charged 0,79 per mile for. By UHaul moving my location to another location, you added an additional 35 $-40 $to my bill. If you don't have that vehicle available at the location at the time of the request, your website should tell you that immediately so you can weigh your options. There were 7 of the cargo vans at the Slaughter Ln. location on the day I was to rent. The manager said they were all spoken for. I passed by that location 9 different times throughout my weekend that I requested and only 2 of the 7 ever moved from their parking spot on the lot. That location is less than a mile from my house and it's why I chose it as my location. The managers at both locations were very smug and arrogant and talked to me as though I was the idiot saying somewhere in your website it says you are only requesting a preferred location but there is no guarantee that's where your vehicle will be. I believe the estimated mileage is a trigger, if you don't input very many miles, they switch you to a further location to get more money from you. In my case it was significant. I will never use UHaul again. The people in the stores have zero customer service skills and zero accountability. If you are smart, you will go with Penske or Ryder or someone else but never UHaul! If you do use them, don't be surprised if you get a good old fashioned screwing as I did!Stephen R.

I rented a truck online and reserved a storage unit online. The truck was fine. The transaction for the storage unit, not so good. I waited over 20 minutes in the lobby for a person to help with my online reservation for a storage unit. Lexi was helping another customer but never acknowledged the two customers standing in line until she finished walked past us to go get the trailer for the first customer. She said someone would be back to help us. After 15 minutes Lisa(?) came in and walked straight to the office without acknowledging the two customers in the lobby. I asked if she could help us. There was no indication from her that she would before I asked. Lisa got the other customer checked out and then worked on my storage unit reservation. I had movers in the parking lot with a full truck waiting to get to the unit. By making the reservation online with my credit card I was under the impression that I would pull in and get a unit number and keys. Lisa left in the golf cart and came back 10 minutes later saying she had to check units to see if they were ready and swept out. Lexi came back and then got me into a unit. It was more than 40 minutes from the time I arrived to the time I had keys despite my online reservation. There was no sign on the door or indication that there were employees working. The stack of boxes when you walk in obscures the front desk. The three people who came in after me each asked if we had seen was anyone working. Lisa and Lexi both told retail customers that they could use the self checkout. It is not well marked and none of the customers knew it was an option. Maybe move it closer to the same area as the check out counter? Lisa was very friendly and efficient. She helped me later that afternoon when I needed to leave a vehicle at the facility. For the storage unit -- I wish I would have asked to look before I accepted it. It is dingy and dirty, and the door does not open easily. The keypad to enter the gated area is on the wrong side of the vehicle so I will have to get out every time I go to storage. It was a wasted move as we will be moving to another location very soon, the price difference is not justifiable.KYLE H.

The Uhaul IT needs to be overhauled. Every time I pick up, there is a problem with the technical details. For example, the customer service agents have changed the phone number in file, which is wrong, about 3 times and it reverts back to the old one. This makes online check in or return very difficult. The lines are always extremely long at this location. The agents do the best they can and are very professional, but the system needs work.MARY C.

When a customer asks for a dolly to go along with their rental, don't charge them for it if you aren't going to supply them with it. Staff couldn't be bothered to even look at me when I asked for the keys to the truck. Not pleased.Carrie C.

This was just pure pure pure luck. My reservation was guaranteed. The first half of the interaction went south quick. My truck was not on the lot. I went to the restroom for a second to cool down a bit. When I came out a truck just happened to show up. The ladies behind me were returning a busted up but still running 26footer. The store was short staffed but the manager, Lisa Mitchell, was awesome! She was so friendly and helpful and represented the store well, even in their busy time. It was easy to rent the plastic bins as they were up front and ready, and she had some helpers assist me. I had such a terrible time online going in circles that meeting Lisa, completely turned my bad U-Haul experience into a good U-Haul experience. Big thanks to Lisa!Amy L.
My initial reservation made in person at another location was moved to a location far away without ANY explanation. After a phone call with the new location my reservation was cancelled (not at my request). After an hour waiting on the phone, my reservation was reinstated at this location. Picking up the truck they were severely understaffed with a line of at least 10 people. I was told the gas tank was full, it was not (only 7/8). I had reserved the truck from 8-5 and at pickup was told I could only have it for 4 hrs even though there were at least 8 trucks of that size still on the lot. After some discussion that I needed more time, they allowed me 6 hrs and claimed "availability" even though there were at least 8 trucks remaining. After use I filled the gas tank FULL and indicated that it was not full when I picked it up. The representative said she would refund some of my money for the mixup. When I received my bill this morning there was no "refund". This is the worst experience I have had with Uhaul both Corporate and location.Steven M.

The workers are rude, ignorant and inconsiderate and have no idea around delivering a good customer experience. When supplying my credit card, I was â€œwarnedâ€ (not informed) that a 120 $charge would hit the card, as though I couldn't afford it. When returning the vehicle during an extremely heavy rain storm, as I was about to park it, I was forced to move â€œunder the tarpâ€ where the rain water was a least 4 inches deep, completely soaking my shoes and socks. These employees would benefit from customer service training and U-Haul would get better rating and more repeat business. I've used U-Haul 3 times in 90 days, and I'm now firmly an ex-customer, and am recommending others to avoid it.RODNEY C.

I ordered a 26' truck a week before. I was informed 24 hours before that the truck wasn't available and I'd have to take one almost half it's size. Ok, I'll have to make more trips. When I arrive they tell me even though I reserved the truck for 24 hours I'd actually only get it for 7 hours and I needed to have it back before they closed. We planned our entire move around the availability we were told we could get and had to half ass everything with only a few hours to move an entire house. I will never use Uhaul again and will not recommend them. If you can't accommodate people's needs BE UPFRONT ABOUT IT. I'd rather use a different location than be completely blindsided. You shouldn't have all of the options if your location cannot accommodate itJESSECA C.

We were not informed how important is the truck return time. I thought it was just estimate. The website said recommendation is 4 hours. Didn't seem the return time is that important so I didn't change from 4 hours. Even the front desk didn't mention if I'm late to the time, I would get charged 39,99 $. If the policy is there, the front desk should mention to me. I think that is part of their jobs. My house got flooded texas winter storm and it's unlivable. Now my temporary house got flooded by waste water. Also unlivable now. Within 3 months, I got flooded 2 times and 2 houses are unlivable. If they informed me about the return policy when I was at the office, I didn't get more damage from hidden fee on top of 2 unlivable houses.Phillip A.

Explain and be very clear about the rental. Do not leave out the unspoken which it makes uhaul looks as a fraud in this location. UHaul has a pretty good interface for remote pick-up and delivery, which is great for avoiding the long lines at either end. Well, it requires this weird second form of ID or they have to call a third party to confirm....what? That my adult daughter will know and share where I am if I abscond with...a UHaul? The whole thing is odd. However, the worst part was that the manager had no idea how the system worked. When I asked about whether I needed to still stand in line for thirty minutes, she yelled/told me "You gotta have a contract! You need to have a contract! You don't want to be driving around and get stopped without a contract! Is that what you want?!" Ummmm....no, not really. But I kind of assumed that UHaul would use this nifty new technology called email to send that to me once I had navigated their process. Just crazy. And I wasted thirty minutes standing in a line that I did not need to stand in--one of my least favorite ways to spend the morning. :-(Christine J.

I had a break-in into my unit less than a month moving in. There were some glaring security flaws such as a bent gate and less-than-secure access door. And there are other ways an intruder can still come in if the Staff could walk around the perimeter.Kenneth B. | Expérience générale

Just rented two units and more than likely won't be staying very long due to the access hours. I went to my unit 24 hours after signing the paperwork and there was a little green lock on my unit. Mean while I have a truck full off stuff to put in my unit, it's getting dark and I have to deal with a lock on my unit the first day I signed the contract. Not cool, not convenient. Good thing I'm a contractor and had the tools to remove what shouldn't have been there in the first place. Let me know why that lock was put on there please. On busy weekends, it would be useful to have more people working. I was there on a Saturday, and there was a long line and only 3 employees at the entire facility. I put my belongings in storage because I had no room in my temporary residence. When I went to pick up my belongings on the day I was moving to my permanent residence, many of my boxes had gotten wet and there was evidence of rodent droppings as well as insects inside boxes that had gotten wet. I had to come back three times to go through and salvage what I could, transfer to other boxes, spray for insects to ensure I did not transfer to my new home. I ended up throwing out four large trash bags of my things that were in questionable condition. To ensure I was not bringing insects into my new home, I had to place the boxes I did keep and transfer to new boxes, in my garage and use an insect fogger 3 different times until there was no sign of insects. Excellent, my experience with Uhaul was amazing from start to finish. I rented a truck online in Austin TX and picked it up in Boca Raton FL, this was all during the Covid-19 Hoax and let me tell you...they were amazing. When I went in to pick up the truck they let me upgrade the size of truck-trailer for free and they gave me and extra 4 days for FREE!!! on top of that they also gave me 30 days storage at their Uhaul Self Storage facility in North Austin. Really nice people with amazing customer service. WELL DONE and Kudos to the organization. I appreciate you all. They were extremely nice to me, they even upgraded my trailer to a bigger one, gave me a couple extra days to get back to Texas and even gave me one month free storage. Amazing Customer Service. The best part of the experience was the trailer itself, it hitched on the back of my truck and was smooth sailing the whole trip from Florida thru major storms along the way.
