Truck was dirty. Windshield was so dirty, we had to wash it before we got on the highway. When we dropped off the truck, they charged a 25 $cleaning fee because we answered the question â€œis the vehicle clean for the next family to useâ€. The truck needs to be cleaned before someone else uses it. We are in a PANDEMIC! No guidance regarding where to leave the key and there is a huge burn spot in the lot with broken glass. It looks like a homeless fire/campsite in the parking lot.Julie P.

Gilbert was fantastic in helping us out with our rental. It turned out that when the receiver hitch was installed on our vehicle by a dealership, the electrical wiring was completely forgotten about. Gilbert promptly took our vehicle and hooked everything up on the spot, no questions asked. Understaffed location, A/C was not functioning, Nobody was working in the drop-off area upon return - got sick of waiting in the truck and went inside to drop off keys. When I reviewed my receipt, I see that my gas was marked at 1/8th of tank and I was changed an additional 55,50 $. This is BULLSHIT. I took at picture of the dash upon dropoff. The fuel is CLEARLY just above the 1/4 tank marker (slightly above where I picked it up at). This is fraud and theftGRAHAM T.

The young gentleman that checked me in was very polite and personable, the location was very busy at that time in the morning and he handled it well. Also compliments to the men that helped me hook up the trailer to my truck. We reserved our 20ft truck with 2 furniture dollies and an appliance dolly only to find out when picking the truck up that there were no dollies. The woman working the desk didn't seem to care and did not offer to find any solution for us even though the items had been reserved. In the pouring rain, I was told to self-return my truck. This meant that I stood in the rain to take the ridiculous number of photos of the vehicle and upload them. There was absolutely no assistance by the personnel at this site, and no consideration of the fact that it was raining heavily when I returned the vehicle. There was no evident purpose for having U-haul employees at this location, as their sole evident purpose was to tell me to self-return in the rain.WALTER P.

The van came with a broken antenna and was extremely dirty upon pickup.. When I told an employee who was walking by, he said "don't worry about it" without even looking my way as he walked by Service staff was slow and did not seem to have any interest in serving anyone in the store. I reserved moving blankets but the store said they did not have any so I had to buy some at the store. When I returned to drop off the van, no one came out to help me and I had to seek out someone. The drop off instructions were not clear and the lady who came out to assist me was not really helpful at all either. The store seems very disorganized and the staff is not customer friendly. Several people waited more than 20 minutes inside the store & we were asked to handle our request through the app because it was 6:59 and they were closed. The customer service I received (both in person and over the phone) was terrible. My movers that were booked through Moving Help cancelled on me the day before my move, and when I tried to re-book my reservation I lost the van I wanted. I waited 30+ minutes on hold over the phone when trying to ask a simple question, only to be placed on hold again and transferred to another representative. The customer service reps I spoke to over the phone were not helpful, and their tone of voice was rude. The staff was not courteous at all, took long on trying to resolve issues because they DID NOT how to do what was being requested and kept asking other employees for help. After waiting more than 20 minutes, due to them taking long on how to do their job, i was asked to return my equipment thru the app because it was 6:59pm and she needed to close! We were given the incorrect size to tow a 1998 Chevy Silverado from original office in Austin. We contacted Uhaul roadside assistance in Oklahoma as we pulled into a parking lot needing assistance with getting the strap that went onto drivers side front axle and the other laying on trailer. The tow truck service tied down the same way as it was originally. We stopped for gas in Lebanon MO to find it had happened again!! Had to wait, Again for an hour. While waiting, Vanessa from roadside researched our tow dolly with assistance from tow truck driver once he arrived to state we had the wrong size and the one we had was for a car size tow!! Of course now we are stranded and its going on 2am. She offered to pay for 1 night hotel locally so we could get new tow dolly in the morning. So, We go to hotel, and now there's an issue with uhaul payment for hotel. Now it's nearly 4am and I ended up paying!!!! This has been the worst experience. So we go to the place called Carget in Lebanon and as nice as the car dealer was, it was recommended to not use the dolly as it may cause damage and how he did not recommend Uhaul for any use. So, because of the truck nearly coming off dolly on the freeway and lack of confidence in equipment, my husband chose to drive. Now we have an added expense of gas for 2 vehicles for 168 miles left to go!! Normally I use Budget, but thought we'd give Uhaul a try. My first indication this could go wrong was based on the Slaughter location's last minute request of asking us to drive nearly an hour away to pick up truck and then go to another location heading south which would've taken an hour and a half. Talk about lack of customer service and expectations. I have a good feeling this is why we ended up with the wrong tow dolly. And forget the Store Manager of Slaughter taking ownership. He's so busy covering his own self that he rushed me off the phone and blamed entire experience on roadside assistance. As stated this has been the worst experience and yes I have the expectation of being reimbursed. Including my hotel expenses and extra gas expense for driving personal vehicle. This needs to be escalated and a resolution offered immediately. Not only did this cause monetary loss. But I missed my 1st day of my new job!! I have to relocate to Missouri because both of my parents are in the hospital. They had to move my mom to a nursing home while I was on the road. My 13 hour drive took 3 days!Christine S.
The place I dropped it off moved the truck from Austin to Katy Texas Saturday night, May 29 (the day I dropped it off) without any documentation (I'm assuming it was done illegally). I then got calls saying I never returned the truck. I had to spend 2 hours of my work day watching security footage to show me dropping off the truck and that indeed someone drove it off the lot at 9:05 PM Saturday May 29. Then after being told everything we fine, I was charged 180 $late return fee (magically the truck reappeared some time Wednesday June 2). So now I had to spend another hour to call and dispute this claim. It was eventually resolved but I'd much prefer a full refund for the ridiculous hassle this was.Jared B.

When I explained that I was told I could return at a different location, and that this one was 30 min away when there was one less than a mile from me, he was rude obnoxious and said, "yeah I dont care, I just telling you that you are gonna pay an hourly penalty for every hour its not here". The reason I wasn't there was I got bad information from UHaul rep at pickup, I told them this location wasnt even in the same county, much less town, so she said I could change pickup to where ever I wanted on return day through the app (totally not true). Clearly not my fault. Thankfully the corporate office made sure any charges would be refunded, but that took an hour on the phone to fix. No reason to be rude, unacceptable, the same may happen to you one day, I hope you are treated better than you treated me.CHAD P.

I have use Uhaul for two different moves, this last year. The first move we used Uboxes. We were moving across country. Uhaul dropped off the boxes, picked them up, and delivered them to our rental, 2000 miles away. This was a great experience, with absolutely, zero problems. I just used Uhaul again, to move us from out rental to our new house. We used a truck this time. The pick up, and drop off locations, had friendly, and happy, employees. Uhaul needs a better rental system and to better train their employees or just hire people that understand they are in the service business. I rented a 15' truck just to move one large refrigerator. I also reserved a heavy appliance dolly. The reservation was only made a day in advance. When I picked up the truck, no mention was made that they didn't have any appliance dollies. Instead, they had given me a four-wheel furnlture dolly and never said anything to me about the swap. They expected me to lift a large refrigerator straight up an set it on a 4-wheel dolly. When I asked about the appliance dolly, they just said they were out. They also said I could rent one at Home Depot or that if I wasn't 15 minutes late to pick up the truck, I might have been able to drive to another Uhaul location to get an appliance dolly. I waited for more than 30 minutes in the truck, like the sign said to do, before someone came to check me in. There wasn't a line, I was the only one checking in a truck. The employee came and said he'd take the truck. There was no inspection. Now I'm being charged for cleaning. The truck was cleaner when I dropped it off than when I picked it up. Your phone support line has a min 20 minute wait time Everytime I call. But on the plus side the people on the phone are very helpful.DAVID J.

Not so much the location but Uhaul as a company did not at all meet any standards. They changed my pickup location and did not tell me or notify me in any way. The location they changed it to was 20 miles from the other location. They charged me for extra miles AND GAS even though I filled up the tank RIGHT BEFORE I GOT THERE! I had to call to even find out where my reservation was and I was on the phone for over 20 minutes before anyone even answered. I had to call because they charged my card AGAIN and I was on the phone for OVER 30 minutes before anyone answered. I also tried to live chat them and no one even bothered to respond to my live chat. I haul has disappointed me big time. I would not recommend to anyone nor would I use them again if this is how they conduct business.CHRISTA W.

The blankets were not in the truck. The truck was hard to find. The truck was parked crooked and the whole lot was so chaotic we barely got the truck out. I waited on the phone for 35 minutes for customer service to see if we could get a different truck (before trying to back it out) only to be told I needed to call someone else that ended up being closed. It took us almost 20 minutes just to get the truck out. All the while worrying that it would run out of gas because the truck was dropped off with 0 miles until empty on the fuel. Worst experience ever, horrible customer service. If you get a uhaul make sure to go during business hours so you have someone to talk to if anything is wrong.Joshua S.

I'm a woman who went alone to get the truck. Big mistake. Tried to do self-checkin & didn't work (camera issue). Employee checked me in and was told 3/8 tank. Couldn't print out contract for me so said emailed it. I never got it. Truck was brought to me and was below empty. So began me vs 2 employees and Tristan, the manager trying to get some gas. Basically I was being ridiculous asking that gas be in the truck. Claimed thieves siphon gas at night and/or only get as much gas as prior customer returns. They don't put gas in trucks. They can't possibly check trucks to see if have gas. Yes, I know, they really thought that was an acceptable answer. I insisted I needed gas. Tristin claimed he used his own credit card and sent an employee to put in some gas. Also told me would add more time to my rental. He never did. The truck was finally returned to me and barely rose over the empty mark. The employee told me he put 15 $in, I repeated and he confirmed. Ivan was particularly rude to me as I tried to leave in the truck. I cried as I left the lot not knowing how soon I'd run out of gas. Plus the truck was the junkiest thing I've ever driven. It was a nightmare. I put the same small amount of gas into the truck as was in it when I left the lot. Shouldn't have been surprised that I was charged 68 $for not putting enough gas in. They went by the original 3/8 a tank that was on the original receipt that I was never given. Good luck reaching anyone at ANY u-haul phone number. Spent 45 minutes on hold on one call then was disconnected. Tristen changed his story and said that yes, they do add gas to trucks if they need it. Apparently not 68 $worth. It's a scam and these people are beyond rude. I wouldn't send my worst enemy there.ANNETTE G.

U-Haul at Slaughter doesn't answer phones. During the pandemic, I went inside and only one worker, Jeanie was wearing a mask. Social distancing was not taken seriously. I had to call the national office numerous times to get a message to Ross the manager there. I had major heart surgery and didn't want to go back inside again because it was a risk to my health. ~ The truck has a very annoying, high-pitched whistle which occurs at about 70 miles an hour; not very fun on a 24-hour road trip! Seems to come from the driver's-side windshield, in the corner. ~ The air conditioning would also simply cut off, for no reason, causing us to scramble about playing with dials, etc. until it began working again. ~ The young man I initially spoke with about accessing our free 1-month self storage unit was more interested in telling me what was wrong-- i.e. he wasn't finding a reservation made from the Holland, Michigan store-- than in how to help me remedy the situation. I literally had to ask him, "So is there anything you can do to help me fix this instead of telling me what is wrong?" He immediately responded, "Oh! I can make a reservation for you." Why wasn't that his first suggestion?! ~ When I arrived to get my storage unit the help seemed unsure of what they were doing. When I moved in the alarm system was malfunctioning and there didn't seem to be any urgency in fixing it. Also, the after hours entry system didn't work.
