The lot and store were very full and over crowded making it hard to move around on the lot or in the store. There was only one person working and the line was backed up out the door. Also, I reserved a 5Ã-9 trailer to move a specific piece of equipment that was 4'6" wide. When I got the trailer home, I found it was not actually 5Ã-9 as advertised, it was actually 4'2"Ã-9 and too small to use. The actual size vs the stated size is quite different and is misleading, false advertisement by Uhaul.Troy S.

I originally reserved a truck in Charlottesville VA for a one way drive to Colonial Heights VA. At 7:30pm the night before, Rhonda from UHaul called and said she didn't have a truck for us in Charlottesville. I was so upset! We planned, prepared and at 7:30 the night before to be told that was horrible. Finally, I was able to get a truck in Col Hts And drive two ways. We had to totally rework our plans because I couldn't pick it up until 9 am and I was supposed to be at my destination then. We had to miss Another important family function that afternoon, and another family member who agreed to help left two hours later for a 5 hour drive back home, getting home much later than he needed to. I couldn't try to make other arrangements because the phones were conveniently shut off after 7 and if I didnt confirm this two way drive right now, I was told it wouldn't be available. UHaul did adjust the price for this debaucle, to be fair. But it was unprofessionalâ€" and their incompetence really upset and inconvenienced a lot of people in my family. To make matters worse, one of my son's roommates called 5 days after I did, got the same truck, and picked it up I. Charlottesville for the exact same move late Saturday afternoon. I can't believe that a moving company would treat someone's move and reservations in such a â€œno Big dealâ€ manner. I also ordered moving boxes a week in advance which were to arrive Thursday before our move on Sunday. I was to get those Boxes to my son Friday to start packing. And guess what? They SHIPPED Thursday and arrived late Saturday afternoon, so once again UHAUL told me by their actions that their customers' plans and reservations are not important. The bright spot was the great attitude and service I received at the Colonial Heights location. The people were super there. But would I reserve a UHAUL truck for future planned and important And timely moves in future? Sadly, no.Julia C.

The staff was super friendly and professional. The manager was great. I was blown away by the level of customer service. I got a tow trailer and the lights wouldn't come on. He tested his equipment and it was fine. He then asked me for the owners Manuel and looked over everything UNTIL IT WORKED. Turns out my equipment wasn't plugged in snug into the truck. He could've easily turned me away and said it was my problem. HE DIDN'T!!! He made my day!!!Robert W.

your phone app needs some tweaking. I was contracted to pick up a 26 ft. truck at 6am, but when i arrived at the location at 6am to pick up my truck the app said i had to wait until 7am to get it. So, here i am sitting in the dark for an hour.cassandra C.

U-Haul Contract 25600801 was completed and closed yesterday 04/25/2021. I was incorrectly charged an additional total of 59,40 $ for an extra day plus fees and taxes. I called the 800 number and changed the initial drop off location because the in-person option that I requested at the original drop off location was not available. I asked the telephone agent if there would there be any additional charges due to me dropping the vehicle off at a new location past the 9am drop off time. The agent said that there would be no additional charges. I went to the new location to drop the vehicle off. I waited for almost an hour due the staff having a long line of customers in front of me. After the vehicle was dropped off, I received an email informing me that I was charged an additional 40 $for an extra day, an additional 14 $in coverage, and an additional 5,40 $ in tax for that amount. May you please refund these amounts totaling 59,40 $ or cancel the transaction (because it is still a pending transaction on my credit card statement) for the additional charges since the vehicle was dropped off only a few hours past the 9am drop off time due to no fault of my own?Drake V.

The check engine light came on while coming back from North Carolina stop at U-Haul place in that state and all they said was to check the fluids and if they were ok then the truck is ok then to come find out once I dropped the truck off the catalytic converter was replaced on the truck I did 45 mph all the way back from North CarolinaKyle B.

Trying to reach a human via phone is almost impossible. Every time I called the local dealer I got a message that the wait time was more than 20 minutes (one time was over an hour). The 800 number wasn't much better. I was on hold for over 15 minutes. I was able to extend my reservation easily on the web, but did not receive an explicit notice that the extension was approved. Given this, I made other arrangements and then was unable to change or otherwise cancel my request for the extension. I suggest you consider making changes so that customer selects both start and end dates and times (as opposed to selecting number of hours or days) and that confirmation of change to existing reservation be explicitly acknowledged either via email or change to reservation on the website.LOUIS STEPHEN S.
The lady who was working the front desk was playing some kind of political or court case live stream on her phone. It was so loud I would have to repeat myself when talking to her. She would keep moving her phone around as we work going through the contract it was distracting. Barely would give me details when I asked questions. Very sharp with her response. Moving is stressful let alone storing my valuables away from home was even more uncertain. However the entire experience was easy. My valuables were there for an entire year I always had access 24-7 and never an issue with elements pests or rodents. The facility was clean staff helpful and friendly. Thank you for helping to solve my temporary storage issues and never complicating the experience. I rented this a week ago 2/12, When i got there my card didn't work, The staff was about as useful as a I was bothering them. I WILL NOT BE THERE LONG NOW! The facility has water leaks! I got moved out apparently because the lock wasn't on the door, I had to get my last load from W V, Pulled in to unload and the nightmare started. I rented a space for a year. Overall my experience was pleasant. MY ONLY PROBLEM/CONCERN/CRITIQUE IS THE FOLLOWING: My billing day was the 19th of every month. The South Park location forwarded late notices to SEVERAL DIFFERENT ADDRESSES. Addresses that weren't mine and addresses I never lived at. It's clear that some sort of investigation had to happen to even get the addresses. I believe that that is just extreme. These notices were sent out as soon as the 20th and sometimes judging by the postmarks three in the same day. I've never been more than a few days late. I've never ever owed more than what was due the current month. And upon move out I owed nothing, in fact I had two remaining weeks on the current month I had already paid. This amount of invoicing or building of any kind is absurd. It seems they went on the internet and just sent out invoices to whatever addresses they could find. When in fact your offices had several phone numbers for me and my email address. I always answered when they called me or returned the call right away. I don't understand why my invoices and late notices were mailed out, listing personal information and storage my location and I can't understand for the life of me why anyone from UHAUL would dim this appropriate or legal for that matter. I don't know why billing felt it necessary to use mail of any kind when I had already opted for paperless contact, never gave a forwarding addres to mail any information of any kind to. I can't even at this moment understand why I had mail sent all over the state, to relatives of friends and random strangers who knew those relatives. (The only reason I got wind of it at all) This collection policy of yours is one of the very reasons why I removed my belongings and it is also the reason why I would probably never rent a space for the amount of time I rented this space for. It was invasive and in my humble opinion very dangerous. Whenever someone is in a storage or moving situation the last thing that should be allowed is for any type of collection process to begin the very day after the bill is due and for that invoice and location to be mailed to any random address found off the internet. I found it extremely unprofessional. Also, The digital card machine that grants you access into the storage area at the South Park location sometimes doesn't work upon the first swipe or the second or the fifth for that matter one day I attempted to get into my storage facility and could not gain access on my own due to a faulty swipe machine and had to be let in from inside the facility on this day I contacted the facility manager and left a message detailing exactly what my problem was and this was 8 months ago I have never heard from him or gotten an email or call about it. This was very distasteful. Though I never had any additional problems gaining access it left quite the sour taste in my mouth to know that if I ever in fact had a problem that there would be no contact made by the management or any representatives at the location. Sad to say this was good storage but absolutely not good business. I have been a customer of U-Haul for over 10 years and honestly before this experience I had nothing bad to say.
