I rented a 5x15 unit but the door to the unit was probably 2 feet wide. You couldn't even fit a couch through that door. If you rent a 5 foot unit you expect it to be 5 feet wide to get into it. The entrance was ridiculously narrow. Also it was very unclear how we retrieved the key to lock the unit. I got there the day I said I would but there was a zip tie on the door. I never received Instructions on how to open it or how to get the key. When leaving we had no idea how to get out since the gate it also closed from the outside. I had to get out of the car and go open the gate from the outside then drive through. We canceled our rental the next day and got a refund. Pod was 1 day late, 24 hr notice to unload pod was never stated, just that access was on the 17th, couldn't accessed until 18th. Supposed to get it at 9am, went in and they said two. Every time you call someone transfers you to someone and then to another person and it's like you're calling for the first time. Staff was rude at round rock location.Kyle L.

Rather than returning trucks with the same level of fuel it left the uhaul location with, customers should receive trucks with a full tank and return with a fuel tank. Just a suggestion. I did like how I received the truck with less than 1/4 tank and got a credit to return the truck with 1/4 tank.John M.

I was expecting first month free because I rented a uhaul trailer but the assistant said I find the qualify because I wasn't returning the trailer there. I asked if I could return it there and she said no because they weren't accepting trailers. She shrugged her shoulders and said it's hit and miss. Came in looking for a trailer & ended up leaving with a truck (Good Move as it turned out!). I was very impressed with the help from Adrian Herrera who provided great information regarding directions & what's around & routes to take (I've not yet learned the area) and made the entire process super fast & super easy. I reserved an appliance dolly but it wasn't available when I picked up the truck so they refunded the cost to me. I had to purchase the equipment because I still needed one and couldn't find anyone who would rent just the dolly. I would never recommend a place that leaves a customer hanging like that.Eric F.

Absolutely miserable experience. This was a military move. A salesperson gave me incorrect advice on a recorded line. I lost 3 500 $in military reimbursement due to the lack of knowledge of staff. I asked if something could be done a certain way and they said yes, then didn't do it. Next, the pods arrived a day late, then 8 hours late on the second projected day.Katherine M.

Location closed at 5. I arrived slightly before 5 and unhooked the equipment where I was told at pick up. It was 5:04 when I went to the front to check it in. Lights were off, locked, looked like a ghost town. I would have thought they would have stuck around since they saw me returning it. Not the location but the uhaul system. We rented from a spot in Georgetown from the website. It was confirmed by email. I double checked for uhaul emailed before we went to pick up the truck and only found my initial confirmation. We drove out to Greorgetown and the shop was closed for 3 weeks. Uhaul moved our reservation to another city and did not tell us. We had to drive another 30 minutes to pick it up. I called uhaul to ask for a discount on miles since we were not notified and the new location was even farther away. They said they would apply it and did not in the final billing. I understand things change, but if you can send me 3 emails reminding me to buy boxes I don't need, the least you can do is email, text and call to tell me my confirmation email for the reservation set up through your corporate website has changed locations.Patrick G.
The service at the locations was great and the staff was friendly. The customer service in between these was poor. Though the staff was continually friendly, I am appalled that in all the number of times I called to check the progress of my boxes, not one person was alarmed that the boxes had not been shipped. This poor communication came from the staff not understanding that the boxes needed longer than one day to ship and when it was confirmed they'd be late, I was told it was because of a â€œglitchâ€. It is absolutely unacceptable that I called 7 times without a single person realizing this glitch. There are many things that need to be improved on your end before I ever recommend this service.Sarah S.
They did not make sure the unit was ready to be rented. The wire protection cover was on the floor the light bulb was broken off in the fixture exposing the inside of the bulb. When I asked to have it replaced before moving my belongings into the unit I was told that there was no one to do it. They did not offer to give me a different unit that didn't have this issue. I had scheduled moving help by the hour with U-Haul and had move into the unit that day at that time. I received an email asking me to rate the storage facility that evening and then I received a text message to rate the facility. I thought I would call the manager who's name was on the e-mail and text message to see what he do about the situation before I wrote the review/rating. I called the next day and spoke to the manager. Instead of apologizing for the situation or trying to correct it. He just said the maintenance crew was only there Monday to Friday till 11am and for me to come at that time to have it fixed. When I told him that half of the unit would have to be unloaded now for it to be fixed he then told me that U-Haul was removing all the lights inside the units and that they no longer felt lighting was necessary. So I could come at the time he told me to have it fixed. But I guess it was my problem about moving my belongings in order for maintenance to so. He claimed no responsibility to the fact that he rented me the unit with this issue and that now it was my problem not his. This is an inside unit not an outside unit that when you open the door you have the daylight to be able to see while in the unit. Very disappointed with the lack of customer service by the unit having this issue and not rental ready and no customer service at the time of move in or after the move in to take care of it. When I was getting the storage unit, your website said that if we were renting equipment that we would get a month free. I input the reservation number for the trailer that my husband made for the trailer and it said it was invalid. He did rent the trailer. When he asked your employee about it in the store when renting the trailer, she replied with "I've literally never heard of that, we don't have any discounts, your rent is 89,95 a month, do you want it?" Not only was this not what your website told me when I rented it but it was extremely rude. Then when he returned the trailer the employee checking it is came around on a skateboard and said they didn't have a trailer scheduled to come back to which he replied, oh well I don't make enough f*ing money to care, it will be my managers problem. Online rental process was super quick and easy. When I got there to drop off my stuff I popped into the storefront and an employee gave me good, simple directions to help me find my unit. After unloading everything the same employee was very helpful getting me a gate remote to make my upcoming visits easier. I have 3 different uhaul rental businesses within 2 miles of my home, but I still had to drive 8 and 20 min each way to pick up what is supposed to be a very popular rental trailer. I reserved it a week before I needed it. Figure out how to get equipment to rental businesses closer to your customers.Roger S.

Unfortunately the first truck they issued me had the transmission light on. Since I was going to be driving it over 6 hours one way that did not make me feel comfortable so I had to switch trucks. One thing I did notice is both of them for whatever reason were full of dog/cat hair, especially on the carpet. Other than that, the second truck ran fine and didn't have any issues.Sydney D.

I have rented Uhauls frequently as you will notice. This is by far the worst experience ever. First, I reserved a trailer two weeks in advance for a local pickup. Got a call the day before telling me I needed to drive 45 minutes to pick up elsewhere. We I got to that location the person said â€œgive him the trailer with the flatâ€. When I asked why he said that way it would make him repair the trailer and not forget. So I was at the facility nearly an hour. Almost a 3 hour turn to get the trailer. Then he tells me to call the 800 number as my selected drop off spot was no longer available. So I called the number and they told me the closest drop spot was in Ft Worth which was an hour out of my way. I ended up returning the the location I had selected two weeks prior and at that facility they were very nice.JOSEPH T.
Next time when switching my reservation call me or do something to let me know it switched. I drove all the way to the place I requested only to be told my reservation was with someone else. I wasted so much time and the dispatch lady lied to my face about giving me a text and a call. I'm really disappointed in how all this was handled. First, I got an email saying the equipment was GUARANTEED and ready to be picked up. I get to the location and it's not there. Bobby shrugs his shoulders and tells me to call 1800 go uhaul. I tell him that's not good enough and he says â€œsir, I can't make a trailer magically appearâ€. Now after about 5 minutes of that he folds and calls around to another location. He gets me a trailer reserved for the next day, and puts in the notes to add a 75 dollar discount. After getting home, I call and speak to Brianna. Hoping to get some sort of promise that the trailer will be there, or even some sort of understating of why it wasn't there. But instead I get hung up on. I make it to the new location the following day and thank god my trailer is there. But of course. They aren't able to apply a discount there like I was promised. Now, my 3 helpers I had reserved for that day were not available, so my pregnant wife and I were stuck loading the trailer alone. I make it to my destination. A day late. Unload everything, then I call back to speak to yolandria. As I'm venting to her my disgust with the company, she says, â€œyou've made your move right? You got your trailer right?â€ Like I'm supposed to forget about the whole situation. She tells me she'll get Bobby's manager to call me because he wasn't supposed to promise me a discount. Again. No empathy. No apology. Zero customer service. 2 days go by, no call was received. I call back and speak with yolandria. And she transfers the call. But the call was dropped. I did get a phone call. But not from the GM. The GM asked someone to make the call for him. The issue was finally resolved. Bobby needs some serious customer service training. And I believe it was a poor decision to give Yolandria the title of a manager. I hope all these calls were recorded. Because that is NOT a way a anyone or even a manager should be speaking to a customer.CLIFFORD K.

When arriving I sat and waited a very long time before any personnel spoke or assisted. I was in the correct location to return equipment, was first in line, and waiting for instruction. I realize a Saturday and last day of month is busy, but a general "be right with you" or wave of acknowledgement, would have been a bit better service. Eventually I was assisted quickly. Box was damaged on the bottom of the door and could barely open or close without help. Delivery parked the box on a dangerous incline in the driveway and the pick up driver had a hard time pulling it out. Box arrived with lock missing and an obvious attempt to break in and steal my items. This box was not watched or secured properly and I am still looking through my items to check for damage or theft. If i ever use a Box Pod service it will not be with UBOX. I am requesting a refund!Kathie J.

There was only one person working when we came in on Saturday morning. While the employee was very friendly and helpful once we were able to engage with her, there was a long line when we first got in, which continue to grow while we were there. She did not address the people in line let us know that she would be with us monetarily. It does seem as though she could've use some additional assistance, or just being more responsive to a line forming. She informed us that our unit should have put a lock in it, but there was no lock. When we went back to let her know this, she was still with another group and there was still a long line, so we gave up. The outdoor drive-up option wasn't available so I got an indoor climate controlled and it was nearly impossible to figure it out. Their simple 1-2-3 process didn't work at all for the indoor facilities. After it took me 20 minutes to find my garages, I set off the alarms because I didn't know I had to check it at a specific box, and since I did it all online, I don't have the handy swipe card that others use to check in and out EVERY TIME I go to load stuff in and out of there.Connie S. | Online Move In

Customer service-Bad Gave away our trailer rental after taking my card to reserve. Did not tell me that I had to be there at a certain time or they would give away. Why use my card to reserve. Was told that I would have a unit with outside accessibility....wrong. Told me that they would charge me a trash fee when I put 3 empty boxes in dumpster. Told me to buy my own lock...only to find out that I was required to use their lock. Not a good way to run a business. My only constructive criticism I have is the inability to contact the staff by phone at this location and lack of follow up to messages left by my or the UHaul rollover call center staff. I understand that Anthony Tompkins works there by himself most of the time. And perhaps that needs to be addressed so customers (past, present, future) can speak with him directly about critical or timely concerns. Or perhaps the main UHaul customer service line could have access to current availability at any of their locations across the USA. Other wise Anthony Tompkins has mastered all the information & operational knowledge of the Steeds Crossing UHaul facility, and possesses and practices great customer service skills.Kathy F. | Premières impressions
the only con was the door to the outside, although we have a bigger unit (10x15x8) the door to the outside of storage building was a standard sized door and made it difficult to bring in our fridge, sofa, washer/dryer. I was paying to for my personal property to be stored and secured. instead the main gate to the storage area and covered parking was always breaking down and open for anyone to enter. not enough security cameras and lighting in storage area but plenty of lighting to protect uhaul equipment parked around office building. I had two thefts from my recreational vehicle totaling 400,00 $ dollars and when reported to uhual employees didn't care or make an attempt to assist. My travel trailer was damaged twice by attempted break-ins and theft of both propane tanks! Security cameras are 720p and NOT pointed toward the customers trailers. The 1080p cameras are all aimed toward the U-Haul vehicles and equipment. Customer vehicle safety appears to be secondary! Lucas is an amazing manager. He really went above and beyond to take care of me. I have had so many problems, almost monthly, with the billing department not being trained correctly in how to process an electronic check. This time there was a typo and my unit was scheduled to be cleaned out. Lucas made sure my unit was still locked after hours, contacted the manager of my location to correct the problem and call me the next day, and gave me a free month due to my constant issues. I considered this experience to be somewhat hectic and disorganized. The truck I rented for moving was ok, but the driver door didn't shut and the alert stayed on that the drivers side door was open while driving. While being issued my storage area I was assigned to the wrong size, an alarm went off while trying to open the door.
