The woman who helped me was not friendly, was looking at her phone while waiting on me. I orders a dolly and they didn't have one, all they had was an appliance dolly which I didn't need but since that was all they had I asked for it and she charged me extra. When I got into the truck the steering wheel and dashboard were filthy, to the point where my hands turned black and I had to stop and buy some cleaning wipes to clean the steering wheel and dash buttons. The people where I dropped off the truck in Rome were super friendly and nice!Adrian C.

When I first opened the storage unit, the attendant was unfriendly, didn't help at all with making sure I knew how to arm and disarm the unit, judged my choice in the size I needed, and wasn't able to communicate properly or efficiently. I have already expressed my concerns with a customer service rep that has entered a claim regarding issues that occurred during my rental period. I will say that most of the staff that I did work with with the exception of one were very sympathetic and did do their best in their ability to resolve my issues however I do believe there is a large issue regarding processes and procedures that could use improvement. Light in the back of truck did not work, dime light in cab you could not turn on because the switch was broke. I rent from U-Haul a lot and will continue. I understand the situation with COVID. Your survey should include questions regarding your reservation system which is terrible. While planning a move across the country, we couldn't be assured until the day we were supposed to pick up the truck and trailer that either would even be available. Moving is stressful enough, you shouldn't have to guess if you'll even have a truck!Robert D.

When I walked into the U-Haul facility in Syracuse, the staff member behind the counter had her two young children with her. As I walked in, she was physically dragging both young children into the office, after putting the children in the office she closed the door, with them inside, she then walked to the other side of the facility to take a phone call as I was waiting at the counter. One of the children walked out of the office and went to the back room where the employee was (presumably the child's mother). When the woman saw that the child had left the office she yelled "if you leave that office one more time I will beat your ass." This alll occurred within the span of 3-4 minutes as I waited to be helped and was the only customer there. This extremely unprofessional behavior has left me not only very unsatisfied with my Uhaul experience but concerned for the safety and well-being of the children. If there is any follow-up action i request that my name and contact not be shared with anyoneChristopher R.

Just explain that there will be a charge on your credit card, but if you get a receipt that shows what was really charge and a credit that you will see a charge of $89,00 $+3,99 $=92,00 $, which the correct charge was 69,00 $ with a credit for gas of 32,19 $ due to bringing the truck back with 1/4 tank of gas, which left a credit I of (18,18) on my final bill. I only see the charge of 93 $.xx on my credit card statement. Mandy said I should see the credits come through my credit card statement in a copy of days. My vehicle broke down and failed. I wasted a day in Syracuse NY, the vehicle needed to be towed, the warning lights were all flashing due to Service problems, and I was told by Uhaul customer service the vehicle was unsafe and to surrender it to an authorized Uhaul agent. Then the Syracuse franchise charged me (disputed, headed to court) for picking up the Broken Uhaul. I had to pay my own Car rental to get back to NY. I have all photographic evidence of vehicle failure and of Customer service telling me the vehicle was unsafe and shall escalate, arbitrate, litigate. the Customer is Wrong and should be punished says Uhaul Syracuse, and told me to drive an unsafe vehicle.WILLIAM A.

On the day of loading the UBoxes, there was a lack of communication regarding the drop off time. I spent more money on paying the hired help due to the late arrival of the boxes (which were already a day late). Spent over an hour on hold to speak to an agent. If I didn't make a lot of fuss it would have been much worse. They confirmed the time with the driver but not with ME, the customer! There were too many furniture pads. Staff unfriendly and disengaged. She was texting the whole time we spoke- barely looked up. Didn't walk me to the car or even get up to point it out gave me the wrong car slot number. The car was terribly smoky and had cigarette burns in the seat. Overall felt dirty and when we mentioned it upon return the guy said â€œyeah we leave it unlocked at night and the homeless go in, it's cheaper to leave it unlocked and let them go on than replace the damaged lockâ€. I arrived an hour after my actual ( my pick up was suppose to be at 4 I changed online to 5 due to having to stay late at work) pick up time and my cargo van was not ready. Had to wait 45 minutes for someone to find someone else to clean the van so I could take it. Once we got to our destination we found cock roaches inside cargo van couldn't call because where we were we had no phone service. Once we returned unit to this location we attempted to explain all the above to the manager Jaime and she was very rude and very unprofessional. She used profound language towards myself and called me very disrespectful names. This isn't this first time I have came into this location and everyone working has a very nasty attitude and have no respect for the way they treat people within this location. There was only one person working the counter, and she had to leave the counter to go out back for each customers rental to get finalized. It seemed she was the only employee on site at all. There were a dozen people in the lobby in line, and I personally waited there 45 mins before it was my turn. The entire experience was TERRIBLE!! I have rented UHAUL trucks for over 30 years, and have NEVER had an experience like this before.. I reserved a 15 ft. truck weeks before pick up date, as well as a furniture dolly. Apparently they ran out of 15 ft trucks, and switched me to a 20 ft truck without letting me know, either online or when I checked in.. I found out checking in the night before online. I walked all over looking for a 20 ft truck when I finally found the equipt. number on the truck, it was changed back to a 15 ft truck again!! They had NO DOLLYS whatsoever at check in! NO APOLOGIES FROM THEM. Upon returning I waited in line over an hour to get sent back to the gas station for 10 $more.. The employee said when I got up to the counter that if he had known I was just returning he could have saved me the hour wait. But there was no information posted anywhere about where to leave keys, truck or how to get a receipt. The gas was NOT up to where they had marked it originally, and I did return it the first time with the same amount of gas. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO UHAUL again for anything, and would strongly advise any potential customers the same.. I wouldnt even waste my time with this survey but I dont want anyone to have to go through the experience that I had. Also the times I did call prior to pick up day, noone knew anything, and they all told me different things!! So if you take the time to read this,, JUST RUN THE OTHER WAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN! Noone should have to go through this before they have a long move ahead of them!Katherine L.
Information on the difference between one way and local round trip rentals was non-existent. We got confirmation phone call the day before, only to be told our 26' truck was not available until the following day. With load labor under contract at both ends of our move, this was not an option, although the girl from U-haul could care less. I physically checked two area U-haul agencies and found five 26' truck on site. It was then that I found out that each franchise has trucks that are for local /roundtrip only. We finally located a 26' truck in Syracuse NY at what appears to be a regional hub, and we had to go get it if we wanted it, which we obviously had to do. Moral of story, this would never have been an issue if we had at least known so we could have planned the 160 miles roundtrip to pick the truck up. Otherwise, this was a great rental.Marc Z.

Mark at Canal St was very helpful but otherwise we experienced many challenges. Our Ubox didn't arrive on time and we had to request the 50 $refund per day twice before it was honored. Jamie, the General Manager, promised our box would be accessible by 9am on Saturday morning; when we arrived at 10am it wasn't out and Jamie was not attentive to us. We ended up renting a 10ft truck to take our things out of the Ubox so we wouldn't be inconvenienced again, but then we were charged for 2 days of rental even after Jamie said she had processed an extension. Ultimately I got the money refunded but it was a lot of time and annoyance that could have been saved if the jobs had been done correctly.lara C.

The lady at the front desk was very rude, irritated, lazy and was unable to assist me with questions regarding my storage needs. Additionally, she was unaware of any discounts for military members. I have used UHAUAL services in the past for my moves and storage needs and this was a terrible experience. If I had a closer location somewhere else I would have used them. I am very disappointed with the atmosphere and the services received at this location. The service people on your chat are not helpful at all. I had to connect to the chat 3 times. The first person cancelled my reservation when they weren't supposed to, the second just disconnected the chat, and the third said that there was nothing they could do to fix the mistake of the first person. As far as the facility it is good but when I made my reservation to switch from the uboxes because they were costing to much my quote was the rate on the advertisement for the one they have set up in the store. Well they could not find my reservation but the uboxes were outside but not in front of the building so I had to wait for them to call someone who was not working that day to come in. They wanted me to cancel and do it on Sunday but I went thru alot to find people to help me so I don't know why my payment is 234 $+ plus. Everything was great. However, when we arrived at the storage facility, we found the sliding, electronic doors wide open. (Storage users are supposed to use their swipe cards to gain access). The doors remained that way for the duration of the move into our rental space. The building was completely unsecured during this time. I called the front desk to notify them & they said they'd fix the problem. However, the front desk should receive an immediate alarm notification if the doors are open for an unreasonable amount of time or malfunctioning.
