I would recommend advice on the routes to follow, I was traveling to Massachusetts and the GPS sent us down a road that was prohibited for that truck and a New York State police fined us.

Checking in was painfully slow considering most information was given online ahead of time. The staff were clearly overworked and had bad attitudes. I paid for moving blankets, never received any. The truck was poorly maintained and got less than 5mpg. It had multiple check engine lights on and was leaking fluid in my driveway.

The truck return area was not well lit and this location is not in a nice area of Richmond to return a truck after dark and closing time.

I called to make sure the drop off time and location was correct. I started I had the smallest box truck. The agent was very short and rude to me on the phone. He said that I'm not on the list. Then he found me on a different list. I had the next size up. I don't have your truck sizes memorized. He said that I misled him. If I was not on one list, could he have possible checked another? That could have been easily checked without being extremely rude. When I returned the truck he was also short and to the point. He ask if there was anything in the back. I said yes. Before I could say a few blankets we are getting out of the truck. He said “whats in it” a condescending matter. First of all he has no clue how many items we moved and just the stress of driving a box truck for 8 hours. Renting a box truck is not a delightful task. Maybe some good customer service would be nice.

I returned the van with the right amount of gas , that they told be put make sure I put it back in there on the line showed on the paper work, but to get home and see they charged me 32 dollars for the gas that I know I put back in the van to have to go back up to the location and see what happen. This just took to much time out of my day, when I know I put gas in the van every I return it. Bad business!!!

I went to Parham VA location to pick up 20' truck for my move and reservation was for 1:00 pm still i went their around 2:00pm still there is no truck available and someone requested me to wait another 15 to 20 minutes and i did that then after a while someone came up to me and informed that there is a truck available but there is a problem with back van door so they arranged me a another uhaul location its 10miles from there .. then i drove to that location to pick that truck as my movers already scheduled for 4pm that day … the whole experience was terrible.. they charged me everything possible.. so I don't recommend uhaul anymore ..

The employee who rented me the blankets double-charged me. I was never given a receipt or copy of the contract (was told they'd be emailed but never received) so I assumed the amount was for the correct quantity of items. I did not discover this until I returned them and a different employee was working. She printed me a receipt, which I was then able to see the error. She immediately took steps to correct the error, and refund me for the overcharge.

The customer service I received on Thursday afternoon was appallingly bad. The staff was unprofessional, rude, disinterested and ill-informed. I had to call the toll free number to receive answers to my questions and resolution to my problem. Training is sorely lacking here. I could not recommend this location to others.

Your 24/7 online pick up process is a sad embarrassing joke. If you want a picture of my license and passport, then tell me to bring them with me when I pick the stupid truck up. Better yet, ask me for them while I am home at my desk so I am not trying to take a pictute.of my license in the middle of a busy parking lot. And don't ask for an "emergency contact" and then go and bloody call them when it's not an emergency. Absolutely awful. You should be embarrassed and ashamed.

On the late morning of Sept 12, 2021, I came to the VCU location to unload a 6x12 trailer into a 5x10 storage unit and then return the trailer. All 3 staff members I saw were incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional. I wish I'd gotten their names but I was exhausted from driving and didn't think of it. Everyone at this location that day was just a dream to work with, and I truly appreciate it. Best service I've ever experienced at a Uhaul.

Good service & experience overall. I especially appreciated being able to extend my rental several times online when plans went sideways. One minor glitch - I had to wait for almost 20 minutes - and go up to the office - to have someone process my return.

I called when I realized I wouldn't need the van for a full 24 hours. I had an invoice of 110 $and I was curious about if that change was still what I was to pay or would it be less due to not needing the van for the time I thought I did. The person on the phone continued to say over and over that the price doesn't change. They said, “ it doesn't matter if you have it for two hours a day is a day. You know what a day is right?” I told her that I understand that a day is 24 hours and I gave up talking and hung up. When rushed the van back to drop it off and ask about the charge an employee came up to me and the other employee who was helping me and said aggressively, “ What's the dispute?” I asked him about the changes and how the person I spoke to treated me poorly when asking to be clear about what I would be charged. He told me that he had no clue of such a call and was still kind of rude. He cleared it up I was satisfied but was pretty disappointed in the lack of care I was given when I called. Not trying to ruin anyone's job or anything, but just telling the situation from my point of view.

I was very disappointed with the the runaround I got to get the uhaul, I was told to different time. stayed up all night for a uhaul that wasn't there, then I was told another time that didn't come through, but the third time was very good, they had plenty of uhaul. just wondering why I wasn't sent there at first. Other than that uhaul came through for me. Thanks

The air conditioning was broken, and I didn't realize how bad it was until I was on the road. When I returned the truck, the manager on site gave me a huge discount for having had to drive the truck around in the baking heat without A/C. I really appreciated the discount, and hopefully the next person doesn't have to sit in an oven while they move!

The location is in a very awkward location. I would have never chosen to drive a Uhaul out of that location but my reservation was changed the day before my move. They also did not have the equipment I ordered which made my move more difficult. I don't blame the location for that change or lack of equipment, I blame Uhaul corporate and will not be using you again.

I was charged for safe insurance and didn't ask for it. This is a larger expense than it was intended to be.

While it had no impact on the drivability of the vehicle, the van was so dirty on the outside that I couldn't tell if there were dents and scratches or if it was just mud and dirt smears. I've never had a vehicle like this from U-Haul. Still drove fine and loaded up fine - loading area was not particularly dirty.

The staff there was very helpful, kind, and friendly. I did rent a 10 x 10 truck which drove good and was clean. I also had an issue with my storage unit as it was too small. That was a mistake on my part, due to thanking my belongings could fit in that space. The great thing about that situation was, I was able to get a full refund on my storage unit, as I only had it for 2 days. I thought their action on this situation was awesome. I did not have any problems with obtaining my initial payment for the storage unit. I think your agency did a great job with my situations. Thanks for all the agency has done for me and have an awesome day

When I first arrived on Saturday evening I was unsure if the ubox was locked or if I got keys from the staff. Online is confusing because it says you can access your ubox at anytime nor does it tell you you need a lock. The first man I spoke with was incredible rude, he said he doesn't do ubox so he was going to get someone to help me. 10 minutes later we see him walking by the front doors and he waves at us. I assumed this was to let us know he was still finding someone to assist us. Finally a woman comes in sits down and says next, when I ask if she was here to assist with the ubox she, very rudely, said she had no idea what I was talking about. She said we would have to come back in the morning, fine. As we are leaving to our car we see the man who was supposedly finding help for us, turns out he was just waving because he was leaving for the day! The next morning on Sunday, we come back and they get the ubox down and the front desk woman tells us that we have until 4:45 to load and to let her know when we are finished. We pack all morning and then have to take a break due to a final walk through for our home and for lunch. When we return at 3:45 the ubox has already been put away. We go to the front desk and I ask where my ubox is and they tell me they put it away. They tell me about 40 times that they close at 5 and were angry that they had to bring the ubox back down. Because it took them so long to bring the ubox back down we only had time to unload the one load we had in the car, despite having another load at home. So I had to make one last load in the morning on the date of our closing for our house, which held up the entire process. When I get there Monday morning, after the day they put my ubox away early, the woman at the front desk was rude and told me that I needed to make an appointment. I talked to a customer service reps 3x on the phone and even called to place the ubox ordered and none of them told me I needed an appointment. Not to mention, every time I called customer service I had to wait a minimum of 45 minutes to speak to someone. Even the employees on the weekend never told me I needed an appointment. So the woman who said I needed an appointment makes a big stink about getting the ubox down like she is doing us a huge favor. I finally loaded and finished. This experience was an absolute nightmare. The ONLY nice, friendly, and helpful employee was the man who ended up bringing down my Ubox on Sunday evening, he did NOT work in the customer service/front desk part. You should make him the manager, or give him a raise, he is your only good employee. I thank god I never have to go to this uhaul again. On top of this horrible experience, when I received my ubox everything in it was soaking wet and moldy. Green mold, orange mold, and everyone's absolute favorite, black mold! An absolute nightmare of an experience.

I am writing this review to inform whoever may be interested that I had the worst customer service experience of my life with U-Haul last weekend. In hopes of being comprehensive, I will start from the very beginning of trying to set up my trunk rental online. While initially I was able to reserve a truck from 7/30 to 8/2 through the website, I received a call from U-Haul Customer service informing me that it wasn't possible to rent a truck for the period of time that I was requesting. Instead I was told that I could rent a truck two separate days and an onsite storage unit. When I showed up to the North Lombardy location on 7/30 to pick up my rental, Dani not only attempted to talk me out of a storage unit but neglected to get me set up with said unit after I clearly stated my need for one. After returning to the same U-Haul that afternoon to inquire about my storage unit I was told that none were available. I promptly called U-Haul customer service to try and get this situation solved, and fortunately was able to be insured I would get my storage unit. When returning to the N. Lombardy location 7/31, I expressed that I was unhappy with the miscommunication the day prior and asked what was going to be done to correct the errors made and the inconveniences caused by the errors. Dani's response was that she could cancel my storage unit, and she claimed she was already doing me favors. I did not see it this way because the clearing of the unit was done because of mistakes made by U-Haul employees at the N. Lombardy store. After this response I asked for the phone number for Dani's boss, Clinton O'Neil, and I left a message with his office at just before 8 AM. I refused to deal with Dani any further until I spoke with Clinton, which never happened. Instead of insuring I got in touch with Mr. O'Neil, Dani told me she was calling the police to report the truck as stolen. I hope one can agree that that was not only unnecessary but a drastic escalation. When returning to the store to sort out the issue I was gaslit and again told I was being done favors and not being treated unfairly. I called O'Neils office immediately and expressed how important it was that I speak with him. About an hour after leaving the store I received a call from O'Neil's office and spoke to who I believe to be his assistant. After explaining the scenario, I was told my rental was being extended and I didn't have to return the truck until 8/2 and would be receiving a call from Clinton that day. While this solved the present issue it didn't resolve the horrific way I was treated by the North Lombardy manager, and I never heard from Clinton O'Neil. All this being said, I plan on never using U-Haul again and will happily pay twice as much to not be treated the same way. if I do not receive a response from the proper individuals to fully compensate me I will gladly post this review on any and all platforms

I promptly called U-Haul customer service to try and get this situation solved, and fortunately was able to be insured I would get my storage unit. When returning to the N. Lombardy location 7/31, I expressed that I was unhappy with the miscommunication the day prior and asked what was going to be done to correct the errors made and the inconveniences caused by the errors. Dani's response was that she could cancel my storage unit, and she claimed she was already doing me favors. I did not see it this way because the clearing of the unit was done because of mistakes made by U-Haul employees at the N. Lombardy store. After this response I asked for the phone number for Dani's boss, Clinton O'Neil, and I left a message with his office at just before 8 AM. I refused to deal with Dani any further until I spoke with Clinton, which never happened. Instead of insuring I got in touch with Mr. O'Neil, Dani told me she was calling the police to report the truck as stolen. I hope one can agree that that was not only unnecessary but a drastic escalation. When returning to the store to sort out the issue I was gaslit and again told I was being done favors and not being treated unfairly. I called O'Neils office immediately and expressed how important it was that I speak with him. About an hour after leaving the store I received a call from O'Neil's office and spoke to who I believe to be his assistant. After explaining the scenario, I was told my rental was being extended and I didn't have to return the truck until 8/2 and would be receiving a call from Clinton that day. While this solved the present issue it didn't resolve the horrific way I was treated by the North Lombardy manager, and I never heard from Clinton O'Neil. All this being said, I plan on never using U-Haul again and will happily pay twice as much to not be treated the same way. if I do not receive a response from the proper individuals to fully compensate me I will gladly post this review on any and all platforms

Only 4 stars as your one employee, I should have taken his name ... Caucasian male with facial hair was extremely condescending to me over a simple question, so much that I had to call him on it and then he stared me down. Casually, I noticed him speaking in a similar way to other U-Haul patrons. Awful customer interaction and he should not be allowed to interact with customers. Again, I don't know his name and should have taken his name from his name tag, but he was working the return truck line on 08/01/2021 when we were there from 1230-1430. Awful Customer interaction !!!!!!!

Right when we got to the counter they were ready to give up on us. They overbooked the storage spaces and we ended up with a space that we didn't even reserve, which wasn't an upgrade, for the same exact price as our original reservation. The guy we interacted seemed done with life (which is fair in customer service), but he didn't try at all to find a solution with us, which I felt was beyond ridiculous. Once he couldn't find my phone number (Due to him not asking if it was storage or truck) it was obvious he couldn't care less. I understand being rude to rude customers, but the man we dealt with was rude from the get go. It took a nice, kind woman in the background to shout to him for him to realize that they still had open storage. Once the woman took charge everything was smooth, but without her the process would've been difficult and beyond annoying. The only reason I'm giving this department 2 stars is because of that woman, she treated us like people and was beyond kind hearted. If she wasn't there they wouldn't deserve any stars.

The facility was under staffed and there was a long line trying to get to the counter. A Customer was furiously complaining that he couldn't get his U-Hall truck out of the parking lot because the truck was blocked, he's been waiting for over 30 minutes for assistance. The customer facing staff at the counter could be a little more friendly when dealing with customers.

I was not pleased with the overall experience of my unit. My property was stored in the climate control part of the storage section. Upon moving out I notice several items of my property where damage. My new white leather seats had specs of blue/black spots on them (pretty sure it was mold). My new black leather sectional was chipping around the edges of the couch. There was chips of the ceiling all over all of my property that went through the netted fence above my unit. I would pursue further action, but quite honestly I did not have the time or energy to deal with the hassle any longer.

I scheduled and arranged to rent a 8x10 split level lower unit for 89,85 $/ month weeks before our move in date. I also called the the facility directly to ensure everything was in order, and was told it was. When we arrived they told us there was no unit available for the size or cost we scheduled! They said they only had a larger unit for 50 $more per month!! I told them that was unacceptable because it was their error. The extremely rude manager told us there was nothing she could do and if we didn't want it we could leave!! We had no choice but to take the unit because we traveled 2 hours to get there and had another 10 hours of travel ahead of us. This manager did not "manager " anything! Her name was Nu Nu! Useless, rude, and disrespectful! I felt like your customer service people on the phone when you scheduled a unit were all sweet and well spoken, and promised things that obviously they have no idea if the reality of the actual facilities they are representing! Total disconnect! I have every intention of reaching out to corporate to get this resolved. We will not be made to pay this extra money every month for your mistakes and mismanagement.

I had this storage for years...and throughout the years I have had excellent customer service from the previous Store Manager (Lance) and his team. The current Store Manager (Danni), Manager (Jamerieka), and their team were extremely helpful during my move out process. I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. It's all based upon the miserable staff that is employed there. The ONLY person that was pleasant was the person that checked me out. Hateful, inarticulate, rude and arrogant are commonplace traits with all employees -save one. Maybe you should Earnestly try to improve the Human Resources there.

I would have given it better ratio if the guy acted like he cared a little. The woman was friendly but the male was not. The storage unit is very old which turned me off. But clear of debris. And the access hours were unclear I think they wanted me up grade or something for earlier access. It didn't matter anyway because I got a unit closer to my family. Overall I'd say it was ok and would recommend it if the location was right.

There seems to be a disconnect between what the local facility does and what corporate does. Every time a local manager approves something, the corporate office can't seem to get the record straight. This causes me a ton of wasted time which equates to a BAD experience. So is the local facility good? Yes. Is UHaul overall good? NO. Also when I get an email from the local office, please include the managers email address so I can simply respond and not have to waste more time finding or calling that person.

My storage experience was always Professional and courteous. The storage payment reminders were an asset ,always keeping me on top of my payment and helping me to keep my payments current and ontop of things . The staff was always, and I do say ,ALWAYS, respectful and courteous ,maintaining that U-Haul Professionalism at all times. If I ever needed the service again ,uhaul would be my first choice. Good facility for storage, but the staff are incredibly unprofessional. We are trying to isolate due to COVID and were promised that someone would help us check in from the parking lot. Instead we were met with staff members who were obviously high and didn't pay attention to our request at all. Tried explaining over the phone that we had an immunocompromised family member in the car who couldn't be exposed, but the person we spoke to was barely listening and didn't care at all. When we tried to flag down someone in the parking lot, they kept sticking their head in our car without a mask and were also obviously high. Because no one would listen, we had to go inside where staff were unfriendly and half weren't wearing masks. To top it all off, while we were unloading our truck, staff members were blatantly smoking weed in the parking lot. Storage facility itself is in good shape and location is convenient, but the staff are AWFUL.

It's the best I've had for service in a long time.
