Orginal location of union Ave 12 noon pick resulted in us getting a defective truck we had to return 5 min later and had to wait 2 hours to locate a new one. Major behind in moving schedule and for 2 hours not knowing if it was even going to happen was very stressfulBrian W.

While the vehicle rented was fine (not very clean inside but got the job done), the staff and service could definitely be improved. Doing mobile pickup didn't save any time because I still had to wait in line at the counter to get the moving pads I rented. It was difficult to find the key drop box when I returned the vehicle and the staff member that helped me was clearly frustrated to be helping me. Again, I got what I paid for in terms of equipment and was able to move what I needed, but I don't know that I would recommend this specific location.Darla K.

The staff is very kind. I was having trouble with my online pick up and they helped me figure it out even stayed a few minutes after hours to get it straightened out. Your online pickup and drop off is horrible though. Couldn't get it to accept my location from my phone so made the process a nightmareMisty A.

You need to start with you employee, by teaching some of them the basic of customers service. Second, I cannot believe you trucks smell bad, dirty, and very poor maintained. Honestly, start from the top to the bottom if you really care about customer's opinion.GEORGE K.

The front bumper was bent and rubbed the passenger front tire with a tight turn, injuring the tire. The back floor of the truck was dirty and very sticky, and had not been cleaned.Donald C.
Corporate Uhaul failed its customers period. 1st: Your system is set to overbook! Shame on you! 2nd: One location was way understaffed! 3rd: The amount of vehicles on the lot needing repair and maintenance is insane! This was at multiple locations. 4th: I booked at 20 Footer. You failed to have a larger unit in stock in my area. I had to get a 15 Footer and make two moves! You charge by the mile, so this cost me big time! 5th: You didn't even allow me an option to get a price reduction. You had some quality employees, but it's clear your leadership sucks! If you cared for your clients, you would have your fleet ready; never be allowed to overbook! You overbooked 3 appointments! I know this because I heard them call each potential customer. If you don't see the stress of moving by now, I don't know if you ever will. Let me break it down stupid simple. You or your family goes to move, but the truck you thought you had lined up is a no-go... The issue is not the workers; from what I can tell, it's the failure online and the inability to get your trucks repaired! If you need to get them to Ford/ etc., you need to get it done or get a bulk mechanic! I would estimate in one store you had over 50 % not working, maybe more! You also had a good 25 % at another store. If you want to look at bottom line dollars, those trucks not moving is costing you lots of capital! Like I said failure at the top... Hell, while I'm thinking about it, you have two addresses on white pine Bakersfield, so when you google it, one sends you to the wrong spot. If that is just a drop-off space, you need to remove that address. Seriously you need to listen to customers and get it together. Number 7 now! We booked it for one way! Bakersfield to Tehachapi, but when I got to the location, they said it had to be driven back! that was a cost of extra 45 Dollars. (Outside me having to make two trips) One word: Disaster!James O.

I had an appointment to put a trailer hitch on my vehicle on 9/24/21 @ 7:30pm. I got to my appointment 30 minutes early. Went in and let them know I was there. They informed me that the person that installs the part had already left for the day. I said I had an appointment scheduled. They said who scheduled it. I said I did it online. They made me come back the next day and I live out of town plus the install that should have took 30 minutes took them 2 hours.Trina L.

The open trailer floor was dirty, but the manager noticed it and asked her staff to sweep and mop it. That was good customer service; I appreciated it. So perhaps each time equipment is returned, it should be cleaned immediately?Sam C.
The 2 young girls that work there are very disrespectful and rude. They do not want to help out the customers at all they just play around while they are working. One of them was trying to get into a fight with me while I had my 2 children with me! It was an awful day and then she threatened me that she was never going to help me with my storage. I rented a 15 foot truck with a car dolly the car dolly safety chains where missing rubber snubbers that prevents chains from bouncing off I had to stop at a truck stop and buy zip ties to secure the chains from coming off the truck when h hit a bump in road lights would shut off and air conditioning would shut off making my trip a very unsafe tripBrian H.

Gas gauge and mileage inaccurate. Poor explanation on which truck to take Once the engine started the check engine light was on.. Employee checked the fluid levels then added some oil..light stayed on. Got a different truck. The first U-Haul dealer I went to was extremely difficult to find. And was not there. This Uhaul location has good customer service. The lady who helped us is very knowledgeable and fast. She hooked up the trailer by herself and removed it when we're done. We always rent our moving transportation in this location and reservation is advisable.Marites F.

Hire people with better customer service. Greeted with what do you need? And given a truck with no gas. When I went back in to explain that the truck had no gas I was ignored by the employee for several minutes because she was talking to to the other employee about unnecessary things. She didn't even apologize for giving me the truck with no gas and made me feel like I was the inconvenience to them. They wanted to charge me 92$ for a quarter tank of gas which is ridiculous. This whole situation was unfriendly, unprofessional, and unorganized.Jake H.

I was not happy that I did not get a credit for leaving the tank at the 1/2 full mark vs the 1/4 full mark (the tank was 1/4 full when I originally picked it up). I spent an extra 20 $in gas and did not get this credit. The frustrating part of it all is that if I would have returned the truck less than 1/4 tank full, UHAUL would have charged me for it. NOT RIGHT. This is the last time I'm using UHAUL and will let friends, family, colleagues know of this â€œunbalancedâ€ reasoning that this company abuses with their â€œloyalâ€ customers..Marcos A.

Made my reservation way in advance. Went to my destination two weeks before I was to show up. Went to my pick up location to make sure everything was good to go. Even called U-Haul traffic to request my pick up location again. The customer service I received was horrible at each and every step I took to make this transaction as smooth as possible. I was told by the person that helped me at U-Haul drop off site said that the person that hooked up my tow dolly in Bakersfield did it incorrectly. It was by the grace of god I made the 13 hour trip with out injuring myself or someone else. There is so much more to say but I think you can get gist of how my whole experience went with U-Haul.David Z.

I had a bad experience at this location. I left my rented U-Haul in the U-Haul parking lot. When I went to go pick up in the morning, I was told that almost every U-Haul on the lot had its catalytic converter stolen. It's a bad problem!JULIE B.

Dilapidated vehicles, poor customer service are hallmarks of UHaul. I had to call 4 persons and request for referral to lease a vehicle worth 19,95 per day. Staff was rude. Everybody knows that debit card is more secure than credit card, except UHaul. They do not accept debit cards. Better look for options.Vivek S.

I was helped by a staff member, a new employee I assumed, who was doing an EXCELLENT job of meeting my needs, that is until another employee rudely interrupted our prospects, causing the new employee greater difficulty. He was verbally abusive and demeaning to the young lady assisting me. There was an additional female employee who's professionalism fell far short when I attempted to gain her assistance in showing me WHERE I was to swipe my entry and exit card for my storage unit. Nichole was such a joy to work with! She set me up with a storage room, a trailer hitch install and a truck rental in just minutes. AND answered all of my gazillion questions and was still very nice! The storage room was SO CLEAN and looked as if it's brand new. It was a nice surprise to find a little "welcome" bag with a lock, a to-go coffee cup and a pen! My things were placed in your location clean and almost like new condition when I went back 1 year later to pick up my things there was Durt all over my things a total loss all of my things were ruined. I moved to a different storage after my roll up unit was BASHED -IN and forcefully PRIED open with lock intact. The thieves took a LOT. At the time 12/18/20 there were NO known CAMERAS viewing the storage units area. No one appears to actually occupy the front apartment-looking structure and there were often questionable persons of no apparent means wandering freely up and down among the storage unit rows I think some are living in storage units. I believe with the rental of vehicles and sales of supplies kept staff from proper monitoring of the storage units. I have chosen a new facility that does one thing; just rents out storages units. I was pressured to purchase renters insurance upon getting this unit in Jun/July 2020, insurance which is now asking for receipts of my stolen items and since I barely have any and clearly this insurance maybe wasn't right for me I do believe such stipulation should have been pointed out as clearly as the pressure to buy it was. I am glad to see that many new cameras and high tech are finally being installed at the facility. I will use U-Haul again but I certainly would rent another unit only with great caution.
