Update the return locations. I drove to two different locations to drop off the tow truck. I was unable to teach someone on customer service and it created a hassle. The return location should contact the renter to coordinate drop off procedure.

Rough ride with the smaller truck
Truck was not ready I needed to change location I started two hours later I didn't get my reservation guarantee $50 I was mistreated by phone When I returned the truck my car was blocked I will never use u-haul again
The ramp to get in the door was covered in ice with no salt or attempts to clear it. I almost fell HARD! Same went for the whole driveway area. No scraping at all. When I got my truck, it was covered in snow and I had to get it all off before I could drive away. Very dangerous.

Masks were worn and card reader set back from desk and had sanitizer available. Felt safe according to CDC guidelines.
They closed early; they were supposed to be open until 7 pm and closed at 5 pm — we got there at 5:15. Tried to use cell phone app for drop off - horrible!!!! Finally got thru to someone via 800 number. Left key in drop box and left truck on lot, it was about 10 degrees out and getting dark fast. We were bone tired and in no mood for taking pictures of the truck in the dark. Since there was nothing wrong with the truck we just skipped that part. I am pretty annoyed about them closing early with no warning. Fortunately there were no issues, so we left the truck there and went home. I plan to call them tomorrow to just follow up since they are not open on Sunday which is also a real problem!!! Very unpleasant experience!
The girl that helped us was very friendly and did a great job getting us setup and on our way.

Received uhaul and floor bed of truck was filled with dirt and leaves. The storage blankets bag was open such that we were concerned we'd be charged for it (we weren't). Had to wait over 30 minutes to talk to uhaul rep to pickup truck even though there was only 1 other person in line. Not my best uhaul experience. I've had much better.
Excellent and helpful staff.
Employees were not wearing face coverings inside or outside while communicating with customers. I felt very uncomfortable approaching the employee when I had to go inside and she was not wearing a mask. I had to ask her to wear a mask. I rented the truck online to do a contactless pickup but due to the delay in the employee verifying my information upon my arrival, the keys were not ready to pick up. I had to reverify all of my information even though I had already checked in online in advance with my drivers license and alternative contact info. Not user friendly at all. Once we got the truck, (38 min past the time I reserved for) we were blocked in the parking lot by someone who was returning a truck. They just left the truck there unattended and we had to search for them to get them to move the rental vehicle so we could leave. There is a terrible one way traffic pattern and lack of parking at this location. Not to mention anytime you tried to find help, no one was to be found because they were moving vehicles around and not manning the desk in the office. Seemed understaffed. The only good thing was the truck being in working order.

Mike and Zach, employees at U-Haul in Boone were professional and helpful but unfortunately, a new employee Jennifer did not answer the phone, nor return messages nor try to help us in any way. We spent about $1000K on 3 moving trucks over a 3 week period. 2 of the rentals entitled us to 2 months of free storage. I was told that I could use those consecutively but when I tried to call and verify at the end of the first month, I could never get through to Jennifer who needed to make the decision. Her ineptitude caused me to go over the first free month and since they did not honor their word and let me have the 2nd free month, I had to pay a whole month's rent for storage of a simple antique desk. I was entitled to 2 free months. The greed and unfriendliness makes me want to never recommend UHaul in Boone on hwy 105.
the uHaul employee failed to make sure my daughter's hitch was correctly equipped. He examined her hitch, attached the uhaul and said everything was set and on correctly. However, employee failed to notice that the pins were not in. She did not have the clip to lock the pin- she was on the highway going down the mountain when the ball of the hitch and uhaul fell off - dragging behind her car in the middle of the highway. Beyond blessed that she was not hurt.
It was easy and hassle-free to rent our truck here.
I don't understand why I wasn't given a refund for turning in the truck two days warily and the trailer three days early. U-haul has done this in the past. I'm was very disappointed.
Easy access and friendly staff
The employees are NOT wearing masks even when inside their very small office with customers - this is very uncomfortable and potentially dangerous.
Courteous, efficient and well maintained trucks
I mentioned Matt and his wife in the above comment ,but I can't say enough about how kind he is he had a smile on his face and kindness in his heart . you could tell and then he helped my husband unload our trailer cuz he wasn't very busy upfront at that point and he had his wife keep an eye on it for him my husband is 76 years old as I said before ,and unloading that big biggest trailer that you have he thought he could do all by himself I am unable to help him. You have a lot to be proud of with him at that location and also your other locations if everyone is is doing their job like these two men you have nothing to worry about .we will use you all again in November and can't wait to see Matt again cuz we rented a storage unit there of course.
The employee wasn't wearing a mask at any time even while indoors, I'm hoping I wasn't exposed to the virus while I was paying for my trailer
Gate was closed and the ONLY place to park the trailer required backing in off the Main Street. Providing a better spot to park would have been nice.

I am sorry but this rating is not for Boone. Uhaul will not allow you to rate the stores you were suppose to drop off at or their company in general. Policy of drop off not guaranteed cost me 2 hour trip vs 1 mile from house, in the mountains...cashier,NC store refused to accept knowing the trip to Otto, NC was 50 min one way. Until they allow drop offs where YOU choose I will no longer use U-Haul or recommend them.
I have used this location in Boone, NC several times and the service has always been excellent.

The two gates were open all the time as they both were struck by vehicles in attempts to enter/exit. These folks go above and beyond for the customers
Mike and his team worked hard to find me a solution to my moving needs within a very short window. The processes he used to expedite in such a smooth manner gave me confidence to trust his recommendations. I support promoting this business to my friends and and anyone that has needs similar to mine.
Customer service and storage units were first class and exactly what we needed. If you need storage in Boone, this is the place to go
The facility was great. The online billing was not so good. I could not pay my bill until the day it was due. Until then, it showed a Zero balance due. With the first month free, it was misleading that my bill on month 2 was zero dollars as well. I received a late notice and paid the $15 late fee. If I had been notified that it was due, even the day of, I would have paid on time. Please considering allowing people to prepay and not have to wait until the day off to pay. I am aware there is an automatic payment option, but my rental was so short I did not want to use this feature. Thank you.
Our confirmed reservation for a 20' truck was 'bumped' therefore we had no truck for moving. This was college move out/in weekend. The staff showed no concern at all and offered no solutions. We decided to rent a storage unit for 24 hours to be able to store and protect the large amount of home items we needed to move. The staff made no efforts to help or support us. Actually acting quite aloof about the whole issue. Not their problem, they didn't care. We rented a 10x10. As we were moving in to the unit, one staff member repeatedly was very aggressively driving past us, on a corner, and loudly telling us we had to move out of the way. It was unnecessary to be so aggressive. We were trying to stay out of the way with very little room to park our vehicles to unload/load. Other clients managed to get around us fine. I would never use this site again, nor Uhaul and I will be SURE to inform my friends/family of this nightmare situation. The biggest issue I have is the absolute lack of care or concern by the staff that Uhaul had caused this problem for us. We had our reservation and Uhaul didn't follow through with the vehicle.
My only comment is that we also tried to book a truck/ van/ tow for yesterday and were told that there were non available. It was frustrating doing frequent trips to the unit with our cars and seeing several trucks etc lined up in the facility. moving took a lot longer than it should have done , a van or tow would have meant we could have done it in one go.

Nice people, nice facilities
They lost my information, broke into my unit, and moved my things, and as a result broke some valuable plate ware that is been in my family for three generations.
This is a clean and safe place.
After being under the impression I had my storage unit reserved, I moved ALL of my belongings into Boone as I’m searching for a home and after arriving at 4:30 in the office I was told my storage unit was not available and that they were closing soon so I couldn’t see what size the next one below was. That WOULD NOT hold all of my belongings And now I am homeless with no where to keep my things. Extremely disappointed and unprofessional. I spent my entire day stressed and that’s not something I could forget. The customer service was not the best To day the least.

The place seemed in disrepair (the gate to the facility was actually broken and remained open all the time) the monthly cost of a unit isn’t prorated (we only used about half of the month at the time of our departure) and the unit we were originally set up with looked like it had a homeless person living in it (sleeping bag, microwave, yellow rice packet...) The only reason I’m not indicating “poor” for overall experience is because Olivia, the college student who seemed to be running the show both times I went into the office, was getting it done. She provided good customer service and seems like she’s got a bright future ahead. But ultimately the facility’s condition caused my wife and I to find storage elsewhere.
I was assisted by Will and he was very professional and informative. He was able to answer all of my questions and get me a unit that met my needs while being efficient but friendly! Super quick and easy process
Disappointed to find that storage rates are not pro-rated upon moving out. I moved out a week after paying my storage fee, but I’m sure uhaul has already moved someone into the space I just gave up. Getting in and out was often a pain. The back gate has been broken, so you had to use the front gate (which was never closed) only to find it was often blocked by trucks getting checked in/out.

Too expensive compared to other storage facilities in the area. Too shard to access - seemed there was always a rental truck or trailer being checked in/out blocking the road !

Excellent customer service
Eveything was fine except when we took our mattress and box spring out it smelled terribly. Like moth balls. We couldn’t get the smell out and it smelled up my sons apartment. Ended up having to buy

Well run facility
Owner was rude and NEVER fixed an issue with my door that prevented me from closing it on my own.
My unit was entered and my Sterling was stolen leaving the door opened. A rat came in and died. Uhaul forgot to check the box for my Amex and nearly auctioned my goods before calling my son. Horrib
Don is an asset to the location he is very personable and helped myself.
I have used Uhaul of Boone multiple times. The owner and staff have all been very kind and helpful each time.

Don was very helpful. Returning vehicles was straightforward and easy. Also, we noticed inside Don was well stocked with Uhaul boxes of every size and many types of packaging materials.
Getting a call back from the local office (not the regional office) is not always successful.
The owner, Donald, is rude, simply put. Leaving Uhaul trucks blocking the storage areas and then being rude when he is asked to move them. Access areas were icy and snow covered for a most of December
Called the office. The person who answered was rude. Did not reply with a "your welcome" , ask if i needed anything else, gung up w/o saying goodbye & displayed a lack of any customer service skills.

I had a very pleasant experience from start to finish, moving from Kentucky and then using the storage facility in Boone for a month.
Owner/Operator is super friendly and helpful. Very clean and secure outfit.
I was disabled and on 60% of my pay. U-Haul would not take partial payments and added late fees. Shameful disregard ending in auction and further charges which I will not be paying.
The call center spokesperson was courteous and efficient.

I rented a 5×5 unit for 2 months. When I removed my stuff, a lot of it was filled with mouse poo. There was a mouse detergent in the unit when I moved in but it obviously did little to get rid of them
As first time storage renters we were not told a lot up front. We didn’t know that rats could get into the units and rip stuff apart. It was inconvenient to go there and have to refill the rat poison.

The facility is in very good shape. The staff does an excellent job in keeping the facility up. The only draw back is the congestion created at the entrance when trucks are rented/returned.
