Frankly I had a very poor first experience using Uhaul. I needed to rent a truck to move my home goods from a storage unit to my new home. There was a uhaul rental facility less than a mile from my storage unit and so I booked a rental truck with that location. I called in advance of my move to verify that a truck would be available at that location and I was told one would. On the day before the move I was phoned and told that there would not be a truck at that location and that instead I needed to pick up a truck that was 17 miles one way the wrong direction from my storage unit. This is annoying but I assume uhaul will not charge me for the additional miles given that I was told I had to move locations. However, on the day of my pick up I was told that I would have to pay for the over 34 miles of additional travel that I would now rack up by no fault of my own. Additionally I would have to pay for the additional gas that would be used. This is unacceptable but I was told my choices were to accept that or rent a truck somewhere else. I am astounded that uhaul would treat their customers with such indifference. This wasn't any one employee, this lack of help and indifference was at every step. And the result is that I paid almost double what I planned on by no fault of my own. Extremely frustrating and disappointing.ORRIN P.

I rented a 15 foot moving truck. It had no cruise control, I had no idea how fatiguing driving 800+ miles can be without this tool which should be available on ALL of your equipment. Received the vehicle, 1 and 1/2 quarts low on engine oil, on a rig with less than 25000 miles. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Vehicle front right tire was 16 PSI underinflated - TOTAL SAFETY FAILURE on behalf of your licensed facility in Bountiful Utah. The windshield had bug guts caked on the exterior and the interior was filthy, I could barely see in rain. If I wanted poorly maintained, vehicles with NO regard for safety, I would rent from Penske. I EXPECT BETTER FROM U-HAUL. Your firm spends a lot of money on vehicles, EXPENSIVE, high quality vehicles. That's why U-Haul is my destination of choice when the need arises. There is a senior executive in your firm somewhere whose hair would burst into flames if they were aware of my experience. For saving you 20 000 $on an engine that does not have to be replaced, YOU'RE WELCOME. The two quarts of oil are on me. DO NOT EVER JEOPARDIZE MY SAFETY with this kind of deprived negligence from the Bountiful UT facility again. If they are going to destroy your reputation you may want to reconsider their franchise license. CLEARLY Bountiful Utah DOES NOT GIVE TWO SHITS ABOUT SAFETY OR CHECKLIST COMPLIANCE. NOT HAPPY, and you shouldn't be either.Kwintone H.

Slow service I was standing around for awhile when dropping off and picking up the truck. Inaccurate gas reading and wasn't given proper directions how to fix it. Can't wait to find a viable competitor to Uhaul and take my business there. Definitely will not be using this site again.Stephen G.

When I picked up the van it was not ready on time, a lot of damage was not marked. That was sloppy and fine, when I returned the van I drove a total of 6,2 miles and was charged 8 gallons of gas. I put 1 gallon in before returning it. I drove back to the uhaul location and they would not reimburse the 40 $for 8 gallons of gas. They said talk to the manager tomorrow, I do t have time for that. It's a good thing a paid with Visa, Uhaul can eat the 97 $rental cost, -40 $ of the gas. See you Uhaul!KRISTINA C.

The guy that was checking us in was constantly complaining that he was understaffed. If you need more employees, you could offer them more pay.. The charge of 25 dollars to clean an already clean truck was ridiculous. Spraying sanitizer should not be charged to your customers. We will not be back.Lori H.

one REALLY frustrating part of the experience was that the truck's gas tank wasn't full on pickup. It was just under half-empty. Since I don't know exactly what kind of gas mileage the vehicle will get at different load states, that leaves me having to guess at the gas station. I put 120 $of fuel in the tank to fill it up just in case, then barely put a dent in that amount by the time I'd finished driving. EXTREMELY frustrating, and I feel like I was cheated. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get some of that refunded.Grant H.

My vehicle wasn't ready at the time my online reservation said I could pick it up. I asked if I could have an additional 30 minutes since I received the vehicle 30 minutes late, and was told I couldn't. I don't understand the purpose of reserving online for specific times if the vehicles isn't going to be ready. The car hauler I rented was not as described. When I determined that the trailer would cause damage to my vehicle I called the UHaul office to tell them the issue 57 minutes after receiving the equipment. I was told they had no larger trailers and that they would not give me a refund because I had the trailer for an hour. I returned the equipment 73 minutes after receiving it. Jen in the office was rude and would not get off the phone the entire time I was in the office (not with a customer, she specifically mentioned it was the GM). I had to disconnect the trailer myself and was then skipped over in line despite being told to go remove the trailer with Ayden.LANCE B.

The voice n ailmessage at this location us very unprofessional. Jeff, the manager was probably trying to be funny, but ut does not come off that way. Thus location also charged me an extra day without reviewing my messages with customer service. I am now dealing with a dispute that is going to take several days and is completely unnecessary.Keith R.
Hire a better manager who would know how to talk to a customer when difficult situations arise. Prior to driving away from the office I had inquired about the safety of the truck . I then stopped over the following morning to make sure things were still alright. Manager at this place was very abusive to me over the phone and my friend /colleague in person at tge store . He did not acknowledge that they had provided a defective truck in the first place. But U-Haul customer service roadside assistance were very helpful in a timely fashion. the manager at this facility did not acknowledge the fact that there had been a problem and kept denying it till the end. The difficult part is the location itself. It's on a blind corner of a 40-mph street. Adding to the difficulty in seeing what's coming, the location stands large signs right next to the curb, obstructing the already limited view of oncoming traffic.PHILLIP B.

The appointment got canceled 3 times before the hitch was installed. The communication from this store to me was badâ€"really bad. The hitch was finally installed. It appears to be a decent install, but I have not used it yet. I prepaid for it on UHaul.com or I would have gone to a different place.Kent T.
When I got there to pick up truck there was no staff around. I had to wait 15 minutes just to see someone and then staff was not nice. I felt like I was at the DMV. When all was said and done I paid more then double what I ordered the truck for. It was overbooked and I did not get the truck on the time I reserve it. They try their best to give me other truck but it was too big and wont fit where I go. When I asked them to find me on other branch they just give a number to call. I wish when that happened they are the one help me find on the other area instead of me calling around since I reserved it days before I came. But the other guy was really nice and promise to call me as soon a truck came in even he is frustrated because of they are having truck shortage he manage to do his best and talk nicely.Iris N.

A few weeks ago, had an experience when I rented a truck. I was disappointed that I had used the app to check in to save tons of time, yet ended up being shuffled from truck to truck for almost an hour while I had friends waiting. But it was business as usual, with no offer for free use of a hand truck or furniture dolley. Some kind of consolation would have been appreciated. I really like our storage unit and the ability to pay by automatic payment. But when you changed your policy to only accept a credit card and not debt I left because I do not want charges made on a credit card. All payments previously came out of bank account. I move out from their a week later. You list my business. Plus you didn't even notify me of your change and charged my account a 15,00 $ late fee. Way to go. So I thought my unit was paid. I have had a awesome experience with the employees and Jen the manager. I was about to move my belongings elsewhere pror of Jen becoming manager due to lack of communication with the previous manager he was horrible. I have been at ease knowing that the security is highly watched and I have my units inside. It's pleasant to be able to pull your vehicle in the bay to load unload or go through your units A/C in summer & HEAT in the winter and all indoors. The employees all of them deserve a good positive recognition they all are amazing...... Moving can be a stressful time in anyone's life. I have moved dozens of times and used U-haul for all of my moving needs. This past Saturday, 5/1/2021, I was scheduled to meet the guys from Moving Help at 9:30 to unload the U-haul into a storage unit. Because the paperwork wasn't completed, I arrived at 9:00am at which time Jen Barker informed me that the system went down. There were people lined up in the store and U-haul trucks lined up in the yard for check-in...not surprising as this was the 1st of the month on a weekend. Jen and Brandon helped customers as fast as fast as they could using "old school" paper and pen methods. Jen couldn't use the computer to locate the unit I reserved, so we went looking for an available unit by foot. The process was time consuming, but not the fault of the U-haul team. We located the vacant unit and proceeded with paperwork, so the movers could unload the U-haul truck. Because the computer was down, every transaction took longer than expected, but Jen and Brandon were dedicated to helping everyone who walked in as best they could like pros, never rude and always polite and professional. All staff was very helpful in showing me how to set the security system and walked me through it. They were polite and respectful. I was informed about the difference in quality of padlocks for my storage door. Also, I was informed about the perks of renting an indoor storage with security cameras and alarm system. We started using the storage unit in May 2020. We put this unit on autopay from my credit card. In August, I received an email stating that my payment was late. I called facility and asked about it. I was told to ignore it. I went to access my storage unit on Friday, October 9, 2020. I found a non-payment lock on it. I was told that a janitor had change the ownership to "John Doe". It was explained that he was older, new and not very good with computers. I am still considering moving my belongings to another facility. I think it is extremely poor policy to allow a janitor to change a storage unit status and not to keep a historic record of storage unit ownership. The that helped me reestablish my storage unit were very apologetic, helpful and informative. I appreciate the staff being able to tell us what really happened rather than giving an excuse or tell me a lie.Gary S. | Premières impressions
