I was treated very poorly from the moment I walked through the door by one female employee. I guess the worker was having a bad day or something because she was extremely impolite and borderline aggressive with me. We were having issues getting my ID verified through the app and I could sense the tension in the air. The entire exchange was very unprofessional and caused anxiety. There was no conversing with this person - she was defensive with every aspect of the interaction. When asked about pricing, I was given the demeaning response "I know the prices are correct...I do this for a living, this is actually cheaper than what it should be for an in-town rental". Similarly, the cab of the vehicle was nice and dirty with sand/mud; the truck obviously had not been wiped down before I picked it up. I usually choose U-Haul because of the convenience, reliability, cleanliness, great prices, and friendly service, but after this experience at the Charlottetown location - I may consider an alternative while I am living here because the service I experienced at this branch the other day is not up to U-Haul's standards. The location was clean and organized, well stocked, and well staffed. The van we rented was in excellent condition. But, honestly, the employee who served us was the best part of the experience by far. I believe his name was Kyle, and he did an exceptional job. Whatever you're paying him, he deserves more. I came to rent a Uhaul truck and spent around $300. I only asked to leave my car there while I use the truck and they told me NO and if I left the car the would call a tow truck. They have plenty of parking space there and in worst case I could use the same spot that the truck that I rented was using. Very bad customer serviceSantiago R.

The truck was filthy so dirty that I was not even confortable sitting in it.next the truck was not maintained at all the driver side wiper blade did not clean the windshield also the the windshield water spraying jet did not work on the driver side moreover there was something wrong with the driver side door when it was closed there was a gap left in it as if the door was bend and even we could see through that gap and from there so much cold winds came in it made me freeze throughout the trip . Improve the online check in system for when you want to pick up the truck on off hours. Tried to pick up truck at 8 am, the online check in wouldn't work so I struggled with this for over an hour and the person on the phone didn't know what was wrong either. Very dissatisfied with how that process worked. I will never rent and pick up a truck using the online check inBrodie M.

Customer service is really bad, they barely explain anything and it seems like they are the owners and they dont care. Lady at the reception is really loud and if you ask her question she becomes furious. They didnt even bothered telling us the location of the truck and told us it is in at the front of store and we spent 15 minutes looking for it and later on they told us it is close to storage unit. As well as truck is completely rusted and its back door will not open easily. Also the truck wasnt clean, i didnt wanted to talk to them after such a rude behaviour so i left with the truck. Very rude and unreasonable management (at least I believe it was management I spoke to). Fuel needle ever so slightly on/below the 1/4 tank line (which was the amt in the tank when I picked up, although had no proof).....actually the needle read slightly lower.... but I reasoned was pretty much 1/4 tank at pick up. Upon return, it was at the 1/4 mark when gassed up but obviously read ever so slightly below it (as can be seen in the picture) after driving from gas station to Uhaul depot to drop off .....another $2 worth would put it back. Because of this, Uhaul decided charging me $60+ for fuel surcharges etc was fair!! Unbelievable! Fundamentally and morally WRONG! Couldn't get anywhere with the person I spoke to at the Charlottetown depot when I called. She would constantly interrupt while I was speaking. Very, very frustrating!! I called the toll free # at Uhaul and spoke to an agt there. Completely different experience. The agent was kind....and patiently listened to what I had to say. Thanks to her I was able to have this fee refunded back to me. Sorry, but after this experience, I would not recommend this location to anyone!Shawna H.

I ordered dolly and it was wasn't available at the location. As a result, my moving got a lot harder because of that. If they told me in advance that dolly was not available when you pick it up it would have been helpful but they never did. Upon my pick up, I dealt with two employees. A lady and guy. The lady was very unfriendly and I really felt mistreated as a customer. The guy was so so. U-Haul really needs to train their employees with courtesy and respectBRIAN Y.

The staff at 18 capital drive, Charlottetown, PE was very helpful and took care of me after a complete failure of booking online and ALSO calling a few hours before arrival to confirm my reservation. The employee I spoke with on the phone (some where in the USA) said everything was good for my reservation, however once I arrived I actually had no unit that I reserved. Not sure how that blunder happened but it was a huge mistake on uhauls part. Fortunately the staff took care of me.Casey C. | Premières impressions
I booked a 5x10 room online that was advertised for a 1- 2 bedroom house up to 1200. My house is 2 bdrm and 950sq ft and there was no chance it would fit. I ended up upgrading last minute to a 10x10 after staff agreed the 5x10 wouldn't suit and denied that this room is advertised to hold that amount even after I was able to show them the online posting. The paper pamphlet I was given at check in stated at 10x10 room was $134, but I later found myself charged for $169. Worst of all, it still didn't fit the things from my house. I've had to store things at 2 other friends and family locations. I felt like uhaul bait and switched me at least twice. When I checked online for access hours I found access hours to be 5am to 10pm. While I was moving things into my unit I was told they close at 8 and I had to leave. When I asked about the 10pm close I was told that only applies to outdoor units and my indoor unit closes at 8. Why was I given an access code for the building if it closes and I'm not allowed in again? This issue caused me to take a 1/2 full cargo truck back to my house 30 km away, and make a second trip in the following day.. doubling my milage and my expense. Essentially every important advertised feature of the unit was unclear or downright misleading. After spending $600 on boxes, a truck and a room I'm thoroughly disappointed and will be leaving a particularly harsh review on Google as soon as I'm able to get the chance to do so. My issue is not with your hours, policy, or prices.. my issue is that none of these things were clear when booking and in a crunch at moving time I had NO choice but to use your services and pay whatever you asked, and that felt awful. I would not recommend uhaul to anyone and will be doing research into other options for my next move.Chantelle S. | Online Move In

Everything was fine for the first 5 years but since the Covid19 crisis I lost my job and fell behind in my payments and that's when all my good thoughts about U-Haul went out the window. My storage unit contents were taken and sold along with personal stuff that can't be replaced. I found the staff were very helpful in determining an ideal size of storage locker for my needs last July. The locker I choses was clean and secure. I appreciated their experience in directing my choices for packing materials and boxes. Everything was as per usual for a storage facility except for two very irritating aspects: 1. The cheaply made and poorly designed locks froze solid with ice every time it slipped below freezing and there was a precipitation, necessitating a trip to the office to get a propane torch to blast the lock with. . 2. The poorly designed lot was so crammed full of Uhaul vehicles and trailers that most times you tried to access your locker unit, something was blocking your way and you either had to ask them to move it or you had to park away from it and squeeze by the vehicles. When we originally dealt with the staff at your facility, there were 2 ladies at the counter and they were extremely helpful, polite and happy, which I commented on in a previous review. Returning a few weeks later and there was a different lady at the counter. She was not cheerful she was actually rude, when all I needed was info on a rental truck to use on a round trip to Ontario. We ended up using a different rental company mostly because of her poor attitude. More than once but less then 5 times when arriving to access my storage unit there was a car parked in front of the area used to load or unload your vehicle yet no one in the actual facility. It was the same car each time which leads me to believe it was the people living above the facility using that area as a parking space. Very frustrating. Everything else was top notch.
