The staff was very short with us and not very friendly at all. The lot was clean and very low on their inventory. We just felt the staff from the front office to the lot people were not very friendly and more rude towards us.JULIE M.

The snottiest, most disrespectful, curt, abusive, disdainful, unprofessional, unkind, horrific 'customer service' (snicker) I've ever experienced. I was *physically threatened* by 2 employees for not returning a 9 foot van to the "right fucking place." The inside staff *deleted my reservation* by mishandling my phone, then insisted they did not. You cannot 'skip the line' as the app says. 51 minute wait to be helped. No eye contact. Short and terse. Severely and profoundly psychologically disturbed employees filled with hatred for their fellow man. Allowed a racist rant about "filthy Mexicans" as they continued to help the racist and ask if he needed boxes and tape. It was an hour-long descent into the heart of darkness. You want to shower the vile slime that emanates from these troglodytes off you as soon as possible. How this disorganized grabasstic shit show continues to operate tests the limits of human credulity. I reserved on a Thursday, checked in online outside at 9:30 AM on a Saturday, and didn't get to the front desk only to have the staff delete my res until 10:51 AM. What can U-Haul do? Consider an immediate overhaul. Maybe change your name to that. Teach these horrible awful damaged people to (1) seek professional therapy paid for by the company, (2) add mandatory customer interaction classes or immediate termination, (3) observe and supervise their implementation or else get rid of these hideous on the inside, cat murdering psychopaths.BRIAN M.

Rude, racist â€œhitch specialistâ€ Jacob I believe. Took pictures with his cell phone of me with out my consent! Felt violated when asked what he was doing he said he had to take pictures of me to show the cops if I stole his truck!! Really? I said what? He said company policy do you want the truck or not? I said I need the truck I've rented before from here and no one has ever done this nor told me about this? He said again you want the truck or not raising his voice and I asked for his manager and said no one was there but him. I continued to question this and he said you can call cooperate and tell them about it. I said you have a copy of my ID my debit and my home address and he said and? Your picture ID doesn't look like you again who are the cops going to find? This On another scale of rude unprofessional racist because he's Caucasian and I'm Hispanic! Never have I ever felt more discriminated like I did that morning. I will speak to cooperate his immediate manager. Local media whoever I have to ! No one should have to go and pay for a service and get this treatment! By the way I asked if he was the owner because he kept repeating â€œmy trucksâ€ â€œmy trucksâ€ left and right and he held himself from calling me a bad word he's like no I don't own this ___ paused and said I'm a â€œspecialistâ€ he said! I said specialist? I stayed, well since you took pictures of me without my consent and stated that was the only way you lend me â€œyour truck â€œand you keep repeating â€œyour trucksâ€ and you calling the cops to get â€œyour truckâ€ back I figured you own the place ? The woman at check out was extremely rude! I would never ever deal With this location again. I told my husband while we were waiting to be checked out I'd never had issues hear before and she inserted herself into my conversation and said â€œwe don't have issuesâ€ . I explained this was a conversation directed at my husband, how dare she get in the middle of a conversation not directed at her. This was after she gave me attitude because I questioned why she needed my information if I was not the driver. All I was looking for was an explanation. Gas mileage. You advertise on the side of my truck "Fuel Saver Chasis Skirt Optimize Your Fuel Economy" And yet, driving 30-35 nph 17 miles (all but one with an empty bed) cost me 3 gallons. Do YOU believe 6- miles per gal is "Fuel Economy" in the eyes of your market? Some people may see it as disingenuous.THOMAS C.

I tried to park the car while my wife dropped off the truck. An employee came out of the building and screamed at me to get out of the parking lot because they were not open yet and it was 15 minutes before opening and we were just trying to do the app drop off. The app drop off also had browser problem for the geolocation so we had to walk around the building and attempt several things with the browser to get it to work. The guy was the worst though I've never been chased off by an employee for trying to return his equipment.Margaret R.

Waits can be longer than seems necessary. Lots of questions to answer, lots of steps and details to go through in order to rent a truck. Calling a friend to verify emergency contact seems unnecessary. Can take 1/2 an hour or more to get out the door. Seems excessively long in order to pick up a truck. Telephone wait times are also quite long and it is frustrating that one is always routed to a call center rather than being connected to the location where you're going to pick up the vehicle.KIRK S.
The van was FILTHY on the outside! Not acceptable at all. I wanted to return it and get a cleaner vehicle but the line was too long and I had a moving deadline to execute. I've rented from UHaul many times over the past 30 years and I have never rented a vehicle in such need of a wash. When I dropped it off, they just looked at the mileage, made sure the inside of the back was not trashy, and then backed it up into the "available" lot! So the next person who rents it, will also drive away in a filthy vehicle. I like this location bc its close to my house, but next time I will look for another UHaul spot.JANENE A.

Typical long wait to get the pick-up but that's not the team's fault. U-haul could probably take a lead from the rental car companies where previous renters can just walk up and pick up and leave without having to wait in lines. Leave those to the new renters and others without a simple pick-up.Mark Y.

I would like to shine a favorable light upon Jacob at the Old Newport Boulevard-Costa Mesa facility for his good skill installing a tow hitch on my Honda Civic sedan. It is quite unobtrusive yet very functional and allows me to pull a small U-Haul trailer. Other staff members have been very good to me over the years as well.BENJAMIN B.

We rented the Ready to Go plastic boxes for an upcoming move, however they were so dirty we didn't even end up using them. They were covered in dust and smelled awful. Please sanitize your equipment thoroughly before renting it out to customers. Especially during a pandemic. Customer service was fine.Camille C.

I cannot believe your rep has to call another phone number of mine that belonged to my sister and/or my aunt at 7am in the morning for some reason. I already had driver's license and paid the rental via credit card. I've always rented fro Uhaul and this is the first bad experience I ever had. Horrible. I rented out a uhaul and set up pick up for after hours. They lock the trailer and email you the code to unlock the uhaul so u can access the key. Well, unfortunately they gave me the wrong code for the lock which forced me to cancel and delay my move and i had to pay the movers. So I had to go back on Sunday and even the employee couldn't unlock the truck for me. And it took about 30 min for them to access the correct code to unlock the trailer. I complained, and the front desk girl that was working that morning said she would credit me back 50 $and it would be added to my card. It is now SEPTEMBER 16 and still no refund !!!!! The line was long about 60 minutes just to get service. It would be helpful to know you have to have someone they can call in case of an emergency AND that U-Haul has to confirm this with them.
