I am a repeat renter and I rent weekly all summer long. I hate the experience every time. It is cumbersome and time consuming. Not ONLY do I use the app to reserve, but I also check-in. The tool asks me for a 2nd phone number and to attach front and back of my CO Driver's License. Why do I need to do this EVERYTIME? It is annoying and unnecessary. Then at the store, the check in process is slow. Sometimes, you ask me for the information again at the store. I should be a VIP and be treated such. At the store, you are UNDERSTAFFED and I end up waiting in line for a long time. Never a pleasant experience.Pete L.

I returned my cargo van and the computer was down. The return person told me to leave the van and they would check it in when the computer was back up. I received my statement and my credit card had been charged an extra day. I have been trying to get ahold of someone and have been on hold for many hours over the last couple of weeks. When I do get through, I have been transfered and put on hold again. I have sent emails and no response. How can I resolve this?MARK B.

I asked to pick up the vehicle in another location, then got an email that it was elsewhere, and when I called that location it wasn't there, so it was a bit stressfull trying to find the van, which ended up being about a 25-minute drive away from my "preferred" location. There was some confusion when UHAUL came to pick up the filled container as the agent was expecting to pick up an empty, not a filled and locked, container. This has caused a lot of confusion and I have not yet received my shipment so I am not sure how well this went...anne G.
The national computer system went down and created a disastrous situation for us - we nearly had to give our business to someone else. But Ryan Hammack patiently overcame incredible adversity to ensure we were taken care of. If not for Ryan, I would have never used Uhaul again. Because of Ryan, I have new respect for Uhaul. Be aware that uhaul may change your contract dates/times without your knowledge. I booked a truck for two days more than a month before I needed it and when I arrived, I was told I couldn't have the truck for more than 24 hours even though I was moving out on the second to last day of the month and wasn't moving in until the 1st day of the next month. You will likely get different information from the corporate phone line vs the local office as they don't coordinate well. Choose another option, if you have one.Matthew D.

The pickup and return process is STILL TOO slow. I am a repeat customer that rents at least 5 weekends in a row during spring and summer. Why am I being asked all the verification questions EVERY single time including the Driver's License picture uploads. It is ANNOYING and UNNECESSARY for a repeat customer!!! The first sales rep was very rude, It seemed as though we were bothering her and keeping her from doing something more important and when I needed help and went to a higher up the manager was just as rude and snotty bad customer service skills none really. Our new place fell through and we needed an extra day with the truck we were told that we could not extend our rental because it was being rented to someone else in a half an hour so they could not accommodate us and we had to rush to get everything out of the truck leave it in our front lawn and we got no assistance or a concern from staffBRIAN W.

Add a I rented my U-Haul which was Sunday April 18th your system was down. And I did make a reservation so I was able to get my U-Haul but I wanted to change the truck I was getting to a smaller one. And I was told I could not do that I had to either take the big one the one I originally reserved or I didn't take a truck. And I would be charged regardless because the system was down and I was unable to cancel my reservation. So I paid 10 more dollars for a truck I didn't need. And the individual that helped me was more concerned about where she left her cell phone been getting me taken care of. I have rented from you guys a number of times and the fact that your sister was down didn't make it any easier but the individual who was helping me didn't either. She just gave the impression she really didn't care either way. You can refund my money. All my stuff is ruined. I had it wrapped up with multiple pads and plastic to keep it protected and it still smells horrific. On top of that they over charged me by a lot, they said they will fix the problem but I doubt it. One lady was screaming and cussing at me. I would NEVER use them again. With the overcharge they hijacked my stuff until I paid an additional 600 $then what my contract said. Never use them. Horrible.Madyson H.

I used the mobile app to access a truck. A bit tedious but it worked. I reserved a furniture dolly but it was not provided. I had to walk around a lot to get the rental done. Not too efficient but neither is the in person check in.Joseph V.

This was the second location we went to on the day of our pickup. About an hour before we received notice that our original pickup location did not have the furniture dollies we had reserved online several days earlier. When we got to the location on Santa Fe drive we were told they also didn't have furniture dollies. We were told by an employee filling in for the manager that â€œthe normal manager hasn't updated his inventory and that he was sorry but would refund the dollies.â€ We were on a tight timeline and because of the lack of dollies we had to purchase dollies from a hardware store and ended up returning the truck a half hour late and getting charged for the extra half hour. On 4/3 I checked my card statement and found the dollies were never removed from my contract and that I'd been charged an extra 14 $for insurance I'd declined during my online reservation. We went to the store hoping to get things cleared up and I've never received such terrible service. I let the guy at the front desk, Ryan Hammack, know what had happened. He told me he couldn't remove the insurance charge but that he would â€œgive me the benefit of the doubt on the dollies.â€ The two employees who helped us the day of our pickup were sitting next to Ryan and did not say a word. Ryan said I should know what I sign before I sign a contract. I informed him that the store was having difficulties with their system that day and that I actually hadn't signed anything. He tried to argue with me several times until I asked him to show me my signature and he couldn't. I let him know if he couldn't take care of things I'd reach out to UHaul customer support. He decided then he could â€œgive me a one time refund,â€ for a token 28 $which has yet to show up on my card. I've never been called a liar at a store or company before and I'm disgusted by the actions of all three of these employees. I was charged more than originally quoted and extra for returning a truck late due to multiple locations lacking equipment. I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB and our local agencies. I would like your company to address this terrible experience.Scott D.
I know there may have been turnover because of the pandemic and you may be training new staff and brining them up to speed. They need much more training. Every interaction with U-Haul is a headache. Staff was very rude and unhelpful at this location, with the exception of Ashley Hooper. Everyone we interacted with was very short, and acted like we were interrupting when asking for help. Staff also snapped their fingers at us, and were seemingly annoyed that we asked for clarification about what to do. Ashely however was a SAINT, and the only reason I would return to Uhaul. She was helpful, professional, friendly, and got everything answered in time. I'm so glad she was there to help!SARAH B.
The staff was friendly, but there was absolutely no sense of urgency. I called 24 hours in advance to let them know I needed to pick up my full uboxes to move in to my new place and when I arrived that morning to pick them up they seemed to be very confused. At one point the woman helping me just walked outside with no explanation about what was happening or if I should follow her.MONTANA M.
My comments are far to lengthy to respond here. The U-Box concept is a disruptive game changer concept. The equipment was not well planned and was poorly executed but may have been driven by external concerns outside of my understanding. Wood boxes could have worked but the various constructions and ways of construction seemed very hap-hazard and poorly engineered in general. Some boxes were over built while others were, well not something Amerco should feel well executed.. A few tweaks in the structural integrity of the boxes coupled with standardization on the builds would have reduced significant repair and maintenance costs. Wood construction can work but shipping, moisture, and other factors make it challenging as a primary construction material with a vinyl wrap. It appears you are already aware of this with the new box designs. I'm sure you've considered your trailers vs boxes and maybe merging this into one offering serving both. Suffice it to say, I"LL BE INVESTING IN THE STOCK AMERCO (UHAL) STOCK IN A BIG WAY!!JAMES B.

The pickup process was very long- as requested I called 24 hours in advance to pick up our Ubox that was stored at this location. They assured me that it would be pulled out and ready to go when we got there the next day. Upon pickup, there seemed to be a lot of confusion and issues even finding our ubox in the system, and then we were told it would be 30-40 wait why they got our box and found a trailer for it. After we waited, it was then another 30 minutes of filling out the necessary paperwork for it, and the representative seemed new and needed quite a bit of help filling everything out. By the time we got everything done, it had been over a hour and 20 minutes to pickup our ubox. The drop off process was much easier and everything in our box was transported safely, overall we have had good experiences with uhaul and their services.FAITH C.

When I came in to get my lock, I had already completed the online reservation amd the gentleman helping me couldnt locate me even with the resv #. The whole process took way longer than expected and when it came time to get into my unit, the key card wouldnt work. Overall I was very pleased with my storage at U Haul. I only had to leave when access to the location was limited to a scan card. Being only able to enter the site with the scan card limited me to access only when I was in my truck, when i needed to get in and was in a different vehicle I could not. The only impediment to the process I faced was a delay encountered when I was to unload my UBox and move it into storage. The UBox could not be accessed by the forklift while a semi was being unloaded. In hindsight I should have scheduled a definite time for the UBox to be moved. I moved to CO from out of state and UHAUL packed up my belongings into containers and brought them to the UHAUL center in CO where I rented a storage unit for nearly a year. The cost was a third of the price other companies charge. The entire experience was pleasant, professional, and timely.
