Dishonest business practices. I am waiting on a GM to call me back, so we'll see if they right anything. I reserved a 20' truck. The site said they guarantee my reservation- time, place and equipment size- or they give you $50. When I went to pick up truck, all they had was a 15'. Said they don't even have 20' trucks at any of the locations in my metro area. So, why are they guaranteeing them? They said we do not get the $50, because the fine print states alternate equipment- which doesn't even make sense. Technically, even a small trailer could be considered "alternate" equipment. So, we were unable to get everything moved in the timeframe we had help because the truck was smaller than the one we were falsely guaranteed. I got into the truck and took pictures of the gas tank and odometer immediately. I was told the tank was at 1/4, and I was not told an odometer reading. The gas light was on, said 49 miles to empty, and was at no more than 1/8 tank. I called the site and told the guy who answered about the gas discrepancy. He told me he would update the info in their system. A friend who helped us move told us there was supposed to be a security tag on the dolly, and if it's removed they charge you. There was no tag on ours to begin with. I went to return the truck using my phone to check out. I needed my reservation number, so I went to retrieve that, and noticed an email and my account from U-Haul that was titled something like your contract. I did not sign a contract and I was never told about a contract. When I ran my card, I signed for the payment. The employee took that signature and put it on a contract without my knowledge or consent. I understand why they would do a contract, but in the moment we were at the store and busy moving all day I didn't even think about the fact that they hadn't brought one up. Until I saw it in my email. I am beyond angry about this- I do not sign anything without reviewing it. This is straight up fraud. But, I still needed to check the vehicle back in. The employee told me that if I brought it after hours (my scheduled return time was after hours) they would check it in in the morning. But I got a text message clearly saying they would charge me $20 if they did that, so I wanted to check it out myself. The site would not work properly. I opened and closed the browser, restarted my phone, cleared cache. After a long day of moving and a good 30+ minutes trying to check out, I gave up and called customer service. The customer service line had a 20-minute wait. I spoke with a rep who checked out my vehicle. I wanted to confirm that I wouldn't get charged for extra gas that was not there to begin with, so I asked her if the gas tank amount had been updated like the staff member said he would. She stated no it wasn't because he couldn't even update that while the vehicle was still checked out. I said I wanted to be contacted about this, so she said she would have a manager contact me on the next working day and gave me their direct number as well. So, we will see if I even get a call back tomorrow- which is Monday. (I didn't get a call today but it is Sunday.) But how do you really resolve employees lying to you and fraudulently using your signature?? I recommend going somewhere- anywhere- else.JULIE S.

The last time I rented, I wasn't very happy with uhaul over some changes they had made to their policy. Was never ever going to rent from them again. But as it turned out I needed to move a collector car of mine, after losing my storage spot. So I relented and rented a car hauler trailer, as usual the trailer was awesome, but my well laid plans started to unravel as one after another my things went wrong.. My winch failed, no electricity plug ins for the air pump to fill a leaky tire. So after getting my air tank. And a friend with a pickup to pull the car onto the trailer. We got it loaded. Head out to get to my sister and brother in laws farm. Had a mechanical issue and had to wait till the next day for a part, since everything was closed for Thanksgiving. Needless to say I was late bringing the trailer back. When I got to the uhaul to return it. I apologized for my tardiness and mentioned the reason for being late. The fellow behind the counter said, thank you for renting from uhaul im sorry to hear of your troubles, was everything else satisfactory, I said yes it was awesome the trailer worked great and pulled very nice. I just wish everything else had worked out as well. He said well since you had a breakdown and had to spend the night in your pick up. I'm not gonna charge you the extra day. You sir are good to go. Thank you for renting from uhaul. Wow! You could've knocked me over with a feather! Now that is customer service, and made my day. Thank you for a great experience Uhaul.JEFFREY S.
Completely unsatisfied with the fact that I drove the truck a total of 10 miles and got charged $116 for fuel. On top of the mileage. Absolutly an acceptable to be charged an extra $116 for fuel when I drove 10miles total!!! Not happyJENNIFER F.

My confirmation said to pick it up at a Moorhead location and it was not there. I ended up driving to Fargo to get it. I was told I could leave it at my original pick up location in Moorhead and then got a phone call that it hadn't been returned. The lady I talked to was very rude! They said if I didn't go get it and bring it back to Fargo they would charge me $200-$400 to get it. I ended up picking it up again and bringing it to Fargo and they charged me for an extra 3 days. It wasn't even where my email said to pick it up! I should've gotten a discount not charged more!!! Awful service!JESSICA K.

My order for a two wheel car dolly was â€œupgraded to a trailer we could not tow with no notice. Very nice unless it means you will be stuck. It could have been disaster but because I called ahead I was able to say no thanks that scuttles our plans. They found a dolly, farther away and we had to go and get it with no compensation offered. So much for a guarantee. The dolly was great. The folks I dealt with were great. Better use of the text and email contact they offer would have been nice as we caught their error in time by double checking to see if all was as promised. It wasn't. I also didn't like that my rental was more money in the US than in Canada by about 100 bucks. Having said all that the dispatcher I spoke to today was awesome and we were able to drop the dolly at a better location than originally scheduled. Uhaul had given me an extra day as compensation for their failure to have a dolly at the asked for site but an extra day was no benefit at all and it was handed back to them 3 days in advance. All in all communication and compensation can be better but the dolly and people were great.JAMES W.

I had assumed that each person, when done with the truck, would need to fill the gas tank. The tank was only at one-fourth when I picked it up. I filled it full ($46), but only logged 74 miles total. So, I basically partially covered the next customer's gas bill. Every person should have to fill the tank b/4 dropping off.TIMOTHY L.
