I booked at one price, when i got to pickup the truck the computer wanted to charge $785 for insurance, so the guy started a new ticket which cost more then $100. Other then overpaying everything else went fine. Computer system has lots of problems. ThanksDale S.

The reservation process was a mess, but once we got closer to the pickup date, things went smoothly. The inside smelled a little like milk that was not quite sour. I had to spray and wipe down the whole inside with cleaner. Worked great for the ride cross country from MD to UtahJennifer S.
Several staff members in U-Haul uniforms just wandered around while two young men in street clothes rushed around doing all the equipment check out and customer service. It looked like maybe management didn't want to deal with the 4 people waiting in line with no staff at the desk, and definitely didn't want to work in the sun, so they let the teenagers do it. The dolly I rented (TD 1060) was trashed, too. Fiberglass fender was ripped apart and held together with packing tape. It was usable, but looked like a Fred Sanford special. I got stabbed in the thumb by a poorly-maintained safety cable wire rope. Dropping off, though, was a breeze. Two professional-looking women were running the shop efficiently, and got me handled in just a few seconds. The evening shift has it going on.Joe A.

The experience was not good. I reserved several weeks ago to pick up a 15' truck at this location. The night before I was to pick up the truck, I got a call that a 15' wasn't available and I'd have to go to Westminster MD to pick up a truck. This was not acceptable as I already had a reservation for a self-pickup in Frederick at 6:00 am for a one way move to NY. The rep then arranged for me to get a 20' truck in the Frederick location for self pick-up. When I got there in the morning my self pickup had been incorrectly changed to a hand-delivery, meaning the office would need to be open. Therefore I couldn't do self pick up and spent an hour and a half on the phone waiting for someone to solve the issue. All around, I lost valuable time and added stress to an already stressful situation.Lorcan O.

It was a little busy when I arrived so I had to wait a bit. Also they forgot to check in my rentals. I received a call the following day from a different U-Haul location asking when I was turning in my rentals. I told him I turned them in the day before and he had to call the other location to get them to receive them in the system.Stephen V.

While the woman at the desk (did not get her name) was helpful, we were given different information regarding a discount on our bill. We were told by Colfax/Grass Valley office and Laura in the Customer service (or whatever group on phone it was) that we would not be charged for the extra days if we returned the trailer early. The Frederick MD location told us just the opposite. She did give us a discount but given the problems we had with the Tire tread which came off on the road trip, we were disappointed. While we had problems on the road we called UHaul locations in Winnemucca. Zac and John at the dealer locations were VERY helpful but the customer service on the phone was pathetic. After an hour on the phone I never did reach anyone in customer service. I had to Chat online while waiting on the phone and they were just as unhelpful, telling me I would need to contact Roadside assistance. The situation was a very dangerous situation but because we were getting no help with UHAUl on the phone we drove to John K.'s location. He was able to reach someone and get approval. John Kontny was VERY HELPFUL. The second person at the Frederick UHAUL office a young man said we would have to PAY if we needed help to unload the vehicle while in at the other end in Colfax, not only did Mason help us with the trailer but showed us how to attach it.John G.

This may seem minor. But the windshield on the inside was realllllly dirty. There was pet hair on the seats and the cargo area could use some kind of freshener or Lysol. Overall the guys who checked me in and out were FANTASTIC. They both were very polite and professional. I would highly recommend your business to my friends.Michaeal F.

All staff are kind and accommadating. Most of the staff are knowledge--but one is not as knowledgeable even though they were polite. Staff training should help with this. Moving is a stressful time, it would be great to have efficient expertise to expitidite the process. This was not the nearest location to pick up a truck, just the closest in the area which was 45 + min away; and I was in a time crunch and sprent too much time on a simple mistake.Jermykl S.

I am very disappointed with my most recent U-haul rental experience. I booked 2 reservations in a timely manner for cargo van on 07/29 and 20ft moving truck for 07/30. Everything went great with my 07/29 reservation for the cargo van. While moving on 07/29, I received multiple calls from U-haul customer service stating my reservation had to be moved to another local due to the current location was unable accommodate my request. I was completely okay with the change, but several hours later, another U-haul customer specialist attempted to contact me regarding my 07/30 reservation. I called U-haul customer service and my call was taken by a young lady that advised my reservation for 07/30 needed to be canceled due to no truck availability within a 100 radius. The day before I needed to move my 3 bedroom townhouse, you have no trucks. There was no attempts to modify my current reservations . I was forced to extend my rental on the 9ft cargo by another day and add additional trips and additional gas to complete my move. This move cost me $233 [in town local move) which is far more than I would have paid if my guaranteed reservation for 07/30 would have be honored. I plan on contacting your corporate office to complain about the whole experience and why I should receive some form of compensation or discount for my inconvenience.Julee G.

Don't try calling the local store!! Goes right to call center and you wait over an hour then get someone that's says that's a local uhaul issue and that they'll call the local uhaul store and then they come back and say no one at the local uhaul will answer!! You can't get answers!! Local uhaul locations must must answer there own phone calls!!! During my reservation I ordered a 10' truck, 1,29/mile for (1) day. Should have been estimate of $40, and I was charge/held on card$78. When I asked how do I go from 19,95 with a $7 dolly, get to %78, I was told OH its the computer. Then I went to the box truck which has a lot of damage. I was afraid of being charged for the damage, and got the insurance, not because I needed it The paperwork also was not accurate for the fuel gauge. I noticed and got it changed. It is my impression, ever corner that can be manipulated, is!!!!!!!!!! Just to make more money the customer never should be charged forJames R.

U-haul originally sent me to a location on 7th street, but as soon as I got there, they guy said he was unable to take my equipment and referred me to Prospect, 10 mins before they were due to close. I contacted them right away explaining my issue and the lady (Tanesha?) Was so helpful. She told me exactly where to park my equipment and changed everything in the system for me so that I could check-in using the app. Was a nice ending to a rough start.Maurica P.

Upon renting the vehicle the customer service was awesome. The ladies were very professional. They were friendly and informative and made it a pleasure to do business with u-haul. When returning the truck that was not the case. The young man was very rude, disrespectful and very arrogant, to the point of trying to fight. I have a corporate account with you. I own a electrical contracting company. This was the worst display of customer service I have ever seen. Sorry for the negative feedback but you need to know. It was that bad!!!MICHAEL K.

Make sure that there's more gas in the truck. There was only a quarter tank of gas when we picked up and we had to put more gas in it than we actually used. You guys got a free $30 worth of gas from us.Michael D.
I have rented trucks and trailers from this location for the past 12 years and until yesterday I have always found the equipment and especially the employees to be top notch.... I say "until yesterday" because I had a very unpleasant interaction when returning my trailer rental. What normally has taken me 5 to 7 minutes ended up being a 20-minute ordeal! This was due to my interactions with two female employees whom I believe our new hires since I've never dealt with them before... I don't know their names, but one of them is a female with 2" Long neon green fingernails, and the other, also female with hot pink waist length braids! They were both rude and uncooperative... They were cleaning out a returned truck which was blocking the street between the storage units where I needed to drive to the appropriate area to drop off the trailer. I asked the first one if she could please pull the truck forward approximately 1 ft. so I could pass and she said no you need to back up and go the other way (meaning I would have to back up around a tight corner near another customer's parked vehicle, and then drive in the wrong direction down the other Street! I asked again and she still said no we're not moving this truck! At this time the second one appeared from around the front and explained that they were checking in this truck and they were not moving it... Again I explained you only need to move it one foot so that I can pass and again I was told you need to back it up and go the other way! I'd had more than enough of this so I went inside and spoke with the supervisor who immediately came out and addressed the situation. About 6 minutes later one of them actually moved the truck one foot and I proceeded to the back corner of the lot where I was instructed to wait. I waited there for nearly 15 minutes and no one came... I really didn't want to drive back to the front and start from scratch again so I sent my granddaughter up to the office to find out what was going on. At that point they checked the situation and found that one of the women they had sent to unhitch the trailer was waiting in a different parking area! I have never had anything less than exemplary customer service at this location so in my opinion I recommend giving those 2 a customer service training (or a pink slip!) before your customers start dealing with one of the other Frederick locations.Debbie C.

The 9' Cargo Van is a vehicle that has to be returned to the same location so they conduct their own upkeep and maintenance at their location. The Van was extremely clean, comfortable, and loaded with amenities (multiple charge ports, drive modes, assisted braking, rain sensing wipers, Bluetooth, controls on the steering wheel, and a lot more). It was a very unexpected surprise to have such a nice vehicle for the day. The staff was great and extremely helpful and polite. This will be my uhaul location of choice the next time I need a truck!Richard P.
I rented a truck at at $19,99 and 99 cents a mile, they asked me about how many mile I expected to use so I estimated about 40. Upon returning the truck I totaled 68 miles so I had no issue paying the extra miles which should've calculated to $30 extra the most but instead they charged me a extra $68 for 28 extra miles and told me the extra was for insurance, so basically once the 40 miles was over I had to pay for insurance again cause the insurance only covered 40 miles! Then I arrived at 7:00am to retrieve the truck from 24/7 pickup and their system was down so I had to wait until the uhaul open to get the truck me and 6 other customers! I can't blame the people who work at the location cause they was working hard to help us and got us our vehicles so Thank you Rico and the lady who worked with you that morning of July 3rd 2022 other than that I was overcharged by the company and misledLeonard P.

Mileage was not accurate on the contract (by 50 miles) and the folks at the front desk wouldn't change it when I made them aware. They said I had to use the app and change it myself. Fix the parking problem for customers at the Jefferson St location in Frederick, MD - it sucks to park on the street when there are no more spots available. There are yellow painted curbs which could warrant a ticket if utilized. This was a bad location selection by U-haul. The staff at Jefferson St were excellent - very helpful.Steve G.

The unit was clean, but I was surprised that it did not have any light inside. I also was frustrated that I could not call the location directly. The staff here are amazing and helpful! I wish I had extra money to give them a bonus, they deserve it. The only reason I did not select excellent is the security. While we have to punch in a code for security, I would put in my code and frequently when I opened my unit, the alarm would still go off. The alarm is in place, but seemed to not serve a purpose as it would go off and nothing else would occur. For the short time I was there it was okay, and I was in and out of my unit weekly, so I was able to check on my belongings. If I had to leave it there without checking in on it for a period of time, I don't know if I would have kept my belongings there.Amy D. | Expérience générale

When we reserved our truck, it wasn't available where we reserved it. We found out, after waiting on hold for 30 min., that our reservation was switched to where we reserved our storage unit. We were never informed, but the customer service representative on the phone insisted we were. I was looking at my messages; I was not. After taking care of the truck, the unit we reserved was not saved for us. The only reason we got a unit was because someone called to cancel their reservation while we were in line. My issue is that I couldn't use the storage unit due to it being too small. I requested a refund, was told the GM was 99 % sure I could get one but she had to check with corporate and would give me a call back the next morning. I did not receive a call back so I went in to the store but the GM was not there (surprise) even though I was told she's be opening the store that day. I was told that storage was down nationwide so a staff wrote my name and phone number down and said she'd have the GM call me Monday morning to resolve my issue. I did not receive a call on Monday so I called the store and was on hold for 50 minutes. The representative that I spoke with entered an action claim and said someone would call me within 24-72 hours. I have not received a call but I did receive an emailed receipt showing that I was not charged for the storage unit, however I paid for it and I still have not received my refund or a call from any manager.Teesha C. | Expérience générale

Thank you for assisting me at the time of need. When I first opened my storage I lost everything during the last recession of 2008. I enrolled in College in 2010 and during the Covid-19 I landed a job in my career in Biotechnology and worked on the Covid-19 Vaccine during the Global Pandemic of 2020-2021...... Everything was great. The only thing I would complain about is the parking for uhual it's very Cluttered and you can't get through anywhere. They need a better System for customers parking there cars. The storage was kind hard to find even with explanation when getting my unit number the guy who was at the front desk never said that there was an inside and that is where I'll find my unit number. I've had as many as three units at one time and have moved/changed units at least 4-6 times over the years. This facility has worked with me, helped me switch units, and been generally friendly and cooperative over the 7 years I've been a customer. I recently went to check on a 10x15 storage unit a couple of weeks early and wanted to secure a unit. I was told that it was too early to come in later. All of our interactions with the staff and manager were pleasant. The staff were friendly and welcoming and were able to answer any questions that we had regarding the storage facility. The facility was immaculately well maintained and cleaned. We had no issues with pests/rodents which we have encountered at other facilities in the past. Only a single suggestion/complaint - the alarm that sounds when someone opens a unit without having first signed in is painfully loud and likely could lead to permanent hearing loss. Since no one on the staff responds to these alarms, there would seem to be no reason to have them so loud. I was over charged for my truck rental. My bank disabled my card because had excessive charges from UHal. I was told I could drop the truck off at the Uhal facility but then told I was charged 150 for leaving it there. Returned the truck to the correct facility. Elevator was broken on day of move out. According to staff, the elevator had broken the day before but the technicians had not been called out until that day to come fix it. The stairs do not lead easily to an exterior door, so my moving crew was stuck for an extra hour and a half carrying all of my belongings up and down the stairs and were unable to do an additional project later in the day as a result.Chelsea K. | Expérience générale

I had told office staff I wS moving out of my unit April 2nd. They billed me on April 3rd for another month. The unit was filled with mice turds and had chewed through multiple boxes and damaged my property. The manager there was particularly obnoxious and made no effort to return my money. If the staff remains the same, I would be sure to anyone inquiring to NEVER store their belongings there. A month later and I'm still having to throw items out, including expensive wool coats for being chewn or finding mice turds on items and throwing them away. Mice turds contain Hantavirus and the amount in my unit could cause an immune compromised individual like me serious health effects, including deathMaria G. | Expérience générale
Worst U-haul facility that I have ever dealt with. The manager will never call you back and you better be prepared to fork out more money to them if you cannot move out before your month end. Other facilities said they had no problem if I moved out a few days after the end of month without charging me but not this one. So now not only do they get a little over $300 from me but they just turn around a re-rent the the two units I had to someone else and collect double money. Don't bother to try to work it out with them because they will say that it is out of their hands which is not true.
