They did great work though and it wasn't the local installer's fault that I kept getting delayed. It was the U-Haul general site that failed to confirm that the local site had the parts on hand. Overall I'm happy with the installation.
Bruce YarringonWhen placing a reservation for a truck, I selected a pick up location less than a half mile from the ending destination. For some reason, the site or whatever updated my order to a pickup location 10-15 minutes away. The truck we reserved hasn't moved from the location near our destination in a month. I don't understand why we couldn't pick up and drop off the truck from our desired location. Please reach out to customer.
Mark BaronThe person work to check me in was helpful and got me on my way quickly. I was very thankful for this as I was under a limited amount of time. As a note for a business serving the public, I was surprised by the music being played in the store. While I appreciate an individual's choice in music, if I had my kids with me, I would have had to leave the location because not all the words in one of the songs would be appropriate. Even to the point that one word creates significant racial problems over the history of our country. I would suggest music that is more approved across society.

And I still haven't received a refund to my credit card and didn't get any response back from the facility yet regarding the payment they took out after I asked for my credit card to be deleted from the account so unprofessional !!! Stephen ShawI was able to reserve a truck size that was unavailable. My reservation was changed without informing me. Therefore, I had to use a smaller truck and make two trips instead of one, costing almost twice the amount of money it should have been. The truck needed some front end work. The steering was sloppy and dangerous.

All three, in my opinion, went above and beyond. They excelled in their respective positions AND when presented with opportunities to do more-- they did, which was extraordinarily helpful to me. I must also highlight Joanna from the Connecticut traffic office (I believe this was her location). Summer 2023 was my most challenging move yet, and each time I spoke with her, you could almost hear her "heart" through the phone-- and then she found the proper equipment for me, and then she got it to where it needed to be! Above and beyond-- all four of them-- at every step. Please keep up this great work.

Ceceilia McPhaul | Expérience généraleI found my entire stay at UHaul uninviting and unpleasant whenever dealing with the office. While one of the first customers in the new building, I initially was not allowed to pick my two units, causing undue stress of my large move-in. This cost me six extra hours of movers fees, not to mention body stress for all dealing with one elevator to the 4th floor. It was just as stressful on my move-out which was a last minute decision, when staff was not willing to prorate my days of Unit use to switch to a smaller one. I then moved out after 4+ years. Staff, including management is rude, arrogant and uncaring to customers needs. The one good woman manager that they had was fired for trying to keep and please customers. There are many occasions when you cannot find any staff to help and have unacceptable wait times. I think this location would thrive with all new staff and management. I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone I know.

Jane Ryan | Premières impressionswe rented on 9/1 and the gentleman who was helping us was very agitated and was shouting us because he told us they couldn't use our reservation from the app. He was quite upset wouldn't do anything to work with us. Finally, we just said will call the one 800 number to see what we can do because we had reserved her truck weeks in advance and he wanted to charge us $500 instead of the 178 that was on my reservation. He was very combative. While we were outside trying to call the one 800 number Virginia came out and to asked if we could come back in and she could try to help us . While she was trying to help us hear from his chair, kept shouting out things to her to still stay involved again not kindly, but she was very professional, and said no I can do this. I just give me a chance, and was very kind to him as he continued, and she was able to help us get our rental. Virginia was wonderful. I had to go back in a couple times to get some things and she just was fantastic the entire day. If I am writing this review from the standpoint of the other gentleman, I would never come back, but because she was wonderful, and went above and beyond to come and help me, I would come back.

Corinne MillerI rented a truck to transport donations for a charity event. After driving it only 7 miles and putting 4 gallons of gas in it before returning it I was charged $43 to put in an additional 3 gallons of gas. I returned to the store to point out that it is physically impossible for the truck I rented to have needed 3 gallons of gas after going 7 only miles and showed them the charge for the gas I put into it. After about 10 minutes of persuasion, they finally told me they would waive the fee. We are still waiting on the refund. Unbelievable I had to do this to avoid our organization being ripped off. We were planning on renting another truck to assist in the cleanup of the event, but we will not be using U-Haul for that.

Thomas BrittWhen I scheduled online my appointment got moved and when I called to schedule a time more convenient I couldn't get through to the store and ended up with customer service who informed me the appointment was moved due to the part not being available but they were unable to reschedule my appointment and needed the store to do so but the store never answered nor did they call me back as promised by customer service. A few days went by and still no call. Every time I tried to call the store I was transferred to customer service. 4 days later I manage to get someone who works at the store to move the appointment to a time more convenient. When I arrived the staff worker seemed very overwhelmed and said Jesus Christ after telling him I was dropping my vehicle off for a tow hitch appointment. He also told me there were several cars getting hitches installed and it would be ready end of day it doesn't matter if I have an appointment time. He then had me sign a paper for payment when I explained to him I had already paid he said I still needed to sign regardless. No one called me to tell me any updates I had called twice once at 5pm and by 6pm I had spoken to another customer service representative who said the store would call me back I explained the store would be closing soon and I need to speak to a higher up because I can't be without my car. I was transferred and explained my situation and still customer support was unable to contact store manager or store. I was advised to go to the location by customer support to pick up my vehicle and when I arrive at 6:44 my car was still on the lift in the garage bay. A team member was outside the garage smoking while on his phone. At 6:55 I went into the store where another member was just sitting there and when I gave them my info for pick up they didn't have my car ready and said another 10 minutes. At that point staff tried to charge me additional fees for labor when I explained I had already paid online. The other team member who was smoking came inside and took over because he claimed to be the manager and waived the labor fee. I explained the fees were the same as online so nothing seemed to be waived. I waited another 30 minutes for my car by the time I left the store it was 7:35. All and all Uhual customer support has been responsive and attentive to the situation but this location needs an an overhaul when it comes to customer service.

I could see the key to the van behind the desk hanging. The van was IN the lot. I went online to reserve the van. It was available online, I reserved it, set pickup time for immediate pickup. I walked back to the counter and was told I still was unable to rent it. I had to explain that my reservation was for right then. Finally, I was able to rent the van. This whole ordeal tool +30 min. Poor customer service.

jessica cantyMy only complaint in regards to my experience is that on the rare occasion I did have questions or needed help with something the staff always seemed very stressed out. It gave me a feeling that I was inconveniencing them by needing help. With that said I am also curious if that has more to do with the management, hours, and work load for the employees more than the employees as individuals. Groton is a busy area with people constantly moving in and out due to the sub base and EB, it's possible this is more of a staffing/management issue more than anything else.

I was locked out for the past two days because even though I told them I had an access code they created a card key then it didn't work then they created another card key then it took over 24 hours for that to work. Every time I went into my unit before then I had to ask them to let me in in a really loud alarm went off that frightened me because I have PTSD. I asked them to turn it off, but they did not. I'm considering just doing the month and canceling my unit because I have another unit at CubeSmart and it's easier there. Maybe you need to add some more stuff at this location and be clear about the storage moving instructions. My unit was not ready. I had to get a lock at the front desk and it took 48 hours to be able to have access and nobody explain to me about the swiping in and out with the card and it's very difficult to use the unit to get in and out anyway.

Also, the elevator was broken for a few days so getting stuff to and from my 4th floor unit was difficult during that time. I called ahead to see if it was fixed but was unable to get anyone on the phone during office hours. So I wasted time and gas driving back and forth only to find out that the elevator wasn't fixed. When I moved out, the process was quick and simple, which I appreciated. Overall, I would definitely recommend the facility. Very clean, secure and reasonably priced.

I went to the front desk and they had no clue why somebody had cut it off. But there was a U-Haul lock on it that I couldn't open. I had to go to the front desk and have them help me. They literally had no clue who or when it was cut off.

Randy Ruelle | Premières impressionsThe only thing I would not recommend is the self storage. There's hardly any parking and only 1 elevator which makes moving extremely difficult. I had a small storage unit which was barely even half full, moving out took over an hour because of the excessive elevator wait times. We had to ask people to move their cars so we could use 1 of the designated truck parking spots. Other people moving were holding the elevator while they loaded there items. At 1 point the elevator doors opened but we couldn't get in because someone had the elevator full of their things. I won't use the self storage ever again. I will purchase boxes and use the trucks. The front office staff is always very helpful.

Even though I vacated the unit in early May, U_Haul kept my full payment for the whole month. I feel I should have been refunded for the unused time as it would be immediately available to the next customer. Getting half a month's refund when you check-out would make customers feel good about continuing to use the service.

Since then everyone we've encountered has been courteous, professional, and extremely helpful. Great staff and facility! The alarm system is a little finicky, though. My unit keeps setting off alarms for other units that are not yet rented. That can be painful on the ear drums.

On Wednesday when I arrived very early at the opening of the facility...the man that opened it was very kind and helpful. He answered all my questions and made me feel better by his courtesy and answers. The move for me (from NC to CT by myself was a traumatic move, unexpected, expensive, stressful and intense taking three months total of work. ) on Saturday when I came in to pay and/sign up for the storage units (two units 10 X 10 and side by side the man that helped me didn't speak. He was quite different from the man that had helped me on Wednesday. The man on Wednesday was white and his name started with a "D". The man on Saturday was African American and was tall and thin. He did a good job and showed me how to use the key card, how and where to enter the building (the building was 3 stories) and then how to take the elevator and location of the two side by side units. Then showed me how to exit the building and key out. He did a good job at accomplishing the job actions, but he would not speak, smile, respond or say anything. He was good at his job but just would have been more helpful if he spoke. I tried to engage in some light conversation as he walked with me to show me to the unit but you couldn't get him to say a word. He answered questions about the storage unit, etc. It just would of been a bit more nicer if he had been like the other man and tried to speak. It would of helped me feel less awkward. Otherwise he did a very thorough job. Was clear with instructions, with showing me how to do everything and making sure I understood and could do everything. I just wanted him to speak, so I would feel more at ease and less awkward.
