I pulled up to a sign that said "When we are open, someone will be right out to assist you." I sat there for 10 minutes waiting. I could see people inside the window, but no one came out. Finally, I called the local number and was told, just leave the keys in the truck and we'll send you an email confirming the drop. I have had bad experiences doing this before where it is later claimed the tank wasn't full or the vehicle was damaged, so I was not comfortable with this, but did it anyway as I had a ride waiting. Fortunately, I received an email soon thereafter confirming the drop. Why do you have a sign telling you to wait in the truck when that is not the actual process? Overall, the truck was fine, but the pickup process was absolutely the worst I've ever had.

Matias the GM was amazing. After a long and challenging day he went above and beyond to address my concerns and found a solution to my problem. The place is great and clean and very Easy to access.

Other than the slightly rude person who checked us in, the shotgun shell found in the bed of our rental truck, and the fact that we were given the keys to the wrong truck, we would go to this facility to rent a UHaul truck again. It is convenient and clean.
Matt and his staff make working with Uhaul as easy as pie. I needed a lot of help moving equipment off of my truck and Matt and his team cheerfully helped me out!
You may be wondering how a place without clean and well-maintained Equipment could get an above-average. I was supposed to rent a truck in Reston. 4 hours before my move, long after all my help has been lined up, a very rude manager from the Reston location called and said that he would unilaterally delay my truck pick up by approximately 3 hours, leaving me with no time to finish my pack out before the snow. I pointed out that I couldn't reschedule the help that I booked. He didn't care. He rudely cancelled the order when I further protested. I called U-Haul at a national number and they sent me to Herndon. The folks at the Herndon location were polite and professional. Unfortunately, the first truck they gave me wouldn't start. They rushed to get me a second truck. That one smelled of cigarette smoke, but I took it because I was at this point late for my moving help and had no choice. Given the circumstances, particularly the last minute rental, I think the Herndon folks did a great job. As for the Reston location, I later checked its reviews online and saw that it only has two stars! It is clear that I am not the only person to have a horrible experience there. I have to ask, why do you let it carry your brand name? It makes U Haul look terrible!

This is the second time in a row I've rented defective equipment from uhaul. This time, the trailer had a broken tail light wire. It had been repaired with electrical tape, but that tape was old and dried out, so while I was using the trailer the connection broke again and I had to drive around without any tail lights/brake lights.
When returning the truck, the sign said to wait outside in the vehicle and someone would be with us shortly. We waiting outside for 20 minutes and saw nobody. We went inside, and they said to just leave the keys in the truck. Nobody came out to verify the gas, mileage or status of the truck with us personally; so we took pictures. The facility was located in a great place; but it was like a ghost town and nobody doing anything.
Your Herndon facility was amazing after the Sterling Facility did not have what was asked ready. Great staff, and easy in and easy out... thank you!
When I was turning in the vehicle there was a guy in a UHAUL hat outside that was inspecting and moving things back in place. He paid me no mind and there was not any kind of sign saying so inside. so after a few min of waiting I went inside and the attendant said leave the keys in the truck we will handle it. My only concern is what if I leave the keys in and drive away and someone else comes up and takes the truck with out me checking it back in. I would be responsible for it.
I was impressed the most with the serious-professional but friendly staff. They were all well dressed, the location was very clean and accesible. This store is my new choice for making business with Uhaul

I was very happy with the rental experience. Will use U-Haul again, for sure. My only complaint was the hand truck and blanket package in the back of the truck. It was often in the way. We didn't need or use these items since we had our own. Would have preferred they be removed. But again, good experience overall. Will be back.

Employees were very helpful. Things I ordered were not included in the truck, but they did not charge me for them. There was a bit of a wait to pick up and drop off the vehicle, but employees worked quickly to get it done.
My original reservation was for the Old Ox location, which did not have the trailer reserved - poor reservation system! Thank you to the Herndon location for jumping in to save the day.

The associate in this location who was supposed to be helping me, was not helpful at all. When I asked for a bigger truck she said that there was not any. I had a reservation in this location for as big truck but the reservation was automatically transferred to another location 44 miles away, another associate tried to help but the one working with me shouted at her, “ I am helping him, go wear a mask!â€. This associate was very disrespectful and unhelpful. She informed me that the location only has 10' trucks and refused to check for any bigger trucks for me to rent, while the lot outside had so many trucks that stayed there all day until I returned the small truck I rented. because of her misinformation I paid twice as much because I rented a small car from her and after leaving the location I found another U-Haul 4 miles away that had the big truck I needed. The associate in the other location was very nice and helpful. I would like to complain about the disrespectful and unhelpful treatment I received in your location.
I reserved a trailer, wasn't at Chantilly. Went to Her don after I reserved it, they didn't have it, but the lady “reserved on for me in Sterlingâ€. They didn't have it either. I ended up coming here to get it. The staff was about as friendly as a team of lobsters.

I waited at the stop sign for someone to come out and inspect the vehicle for 15 minutes. Nobody came so I pulled into the lot and began the self checkin, at which time staff approached me and asked me to finish the self checkin and then pull the truck back to the stop signs for him to check the truck in because his tools were there. I did, but I felt he should have approached me the first time I was waiting at the drop off, and not make me wait for 15 minutes with no greeting.
The truck was absolutely filthy. Uhaul has made clear that it does not care about the health of its costumers!
The representative(Matias) at this Herndon location took care of all our needs, after the location in Manassas, VA decided to change my reservation without prior notice letting me know there were not trucks available for me even when the reservation was done 3 1/2 weeks in advance of the rental day sending me to Woodstock, VA to pick up a truck if I wanted it so bad. The Manassas VA location (10480 Dumfries Rd Manassas VA ) is by far the WORST place to go especially when you are counting in the support of a prestigious company (U-Haul) , this is the kind of workers that make the company get a bad name. If you want to have some piece of mind and be ready for the moving day, I suggest to visit the Herndon location or perhaps find another rental company so you don't have to get extra expenses because an unexperienced representative decides to change the plans.
I turned in my trailer 3 days early and then got a call asking where it was and that they didn't have it on file as retuned. I think maybe there needs to be a better communication with employees or something instead of having a “lost†trailer that is I'm sure stressful for employees and the renter.
Educate all employees on how to run the computers. It was close to closing, and it appeared only the young lady knew what to do. By the way, she deserves a raise!! She was outstanding!!!!!
I worked with Matt at this location and he was very helpful. I had to switch trailers after I picked up because I needed a ramp and Matt didn't complain or give me any slack. He understood my concern and helped me without hesitation. I rented a trailer for one day and had to call and extend and Matt again happily helped me. This location is clean, organized, and customer service was excellent. I will return and recommend to family/friends.

I dealt with Matias, the General Manager. He was extremely helpful and courteous. One of my best experiences renting a truck.
First of all, U-Haul changed the pick-up location a few days before my move date WITHOUT verifying with me/notifying me first. That is fine because fortunately I found that the location had been changed the day before and the new location was not far. However, what really bothered me was that the new location DID NOT have one of the equipment (appliance dolly) that I had reserved and paid for. The staff at the gas station was oblivious, did not even apologize for the trouble they caused, and simply replied that I can call the customer service later. I called the customer service and later received a refund for unprovided equipment, but this does not fix the situation that I had to deal with on my hectic moving day. I had to call around other locations to see if they had any dolly left and ask for extra hands at the last minute. If U-Haul is going to change the truck pick-up location, you should make sure that all the other reserved items/equipment are also provided at the new location. This experience has been by far the worst experience at U-Haul. Ridiculous.

Good products can only survive with good people! This location has a group of good people, which I believe are managed by an excellent leader/manager. I enjoy using this location, the cost, and most important the people are wonderful. Rare find, I suggest you clone this model, leadership process to implement across your brand. I wish I could find these types of people and management in our operation.

Matias was outstanding, the facility is exceptional and this is the best moving/storage experience I’ve had to date.
Site was organized and clean and staff member was friendly, however staff member was left alone to manage all customers and store alone, on a Saturday. This lead to very long lines and wait times, which could have been avoided if there was even one more staff neither to help. Staff member also struggled to manage uhaul truck/ trailer pick up and drop off as well as purchases and storage reservations as they were alone.
Matt and his team were outstanding! We are switching from CubeSmart and it is clear to see the U-Haul facility is better kept, etc. Plus we will save more than $200 per month. Could not be happier! Thanks!
The reason I gave you this rating is because your carts are too small. In addition, only one elevator is large enough to adequately move furniture. This makes the moving in and out extremely difficult

15 foot truck does not hold two bedroom apartment as advertised. Furniture protectors I rented were wet and dirty. Storage space is clean and adequate.
