Rented 2 trucks. one to go to Missouri and the other to Arizona. The AZ truck had very worn tires and brake issues that I found out when we left for our destinations. I hydroplaned and the only reason the truck didn't flip over was because I was pulling a trailer with my van that was fully packed. We had an appointment for closing on the house that we missed because the truck wouldn't go over 30 mph up hill on Interstate 65 in Missouri. This ended up costing me over $1,000 for motel stays and food for 5 people. Also lost about $200 in frozen food that was lost because we couldn't get into the house to put it in the freezer (since we were not able to do the closing)

The person/ clerk first should start by just saying "Hello" welcome to U-Haul, I will be right with and yes some eye contact would be nice. I was over charged when returning the then asked do you want me to refund you?

One guy seemed to be having a personal phone call at the desk. After standing there for a few he asked what I wanted. All I needed was the key to the truck I checked in online. Had the other guy who was done with his customer at this point grab my key! If your on the phone, go out of customer eyes. When I dropped the truck off he took my key and the key to another without saying anything. I just left. Didn’t know if I was suppose to wait or not. If they can’t communicate neither can I! I got a small 10ft truck to move some small home appliances. Drove roughly 40 miles and ended up lying over $72. I think that’s TOO STEEP! .99$ a mile is too much for local moving.

This location has historically been great. However, I am starting to notice that it is understaffed. The workers seem very competent but it is increasingly taking too long to get service. Also, I completed the online questions about whether I wanted extra items, and then was asked all the same questions when I arrived.

Better and improved information from your 1-800 number. I called on 1-1-2020 and a recording said you would not be open until 9:00am on Thursday morning. Therefore I had to find a storage unit else where. Which made it very inconvenient not to mention u-haul losing business

assuming that everyone has access to a smart phone for checking in and out is a problem for me. I was able to work it out to have my rental during business hours, but it wouldn't have worked out if I needed the vehicle any longer:)

Brendon was most helpful, and when he noticed “Veteran” on my drivers license, genuinely thanked me for my service and gave me a discount! WOW! GREAT service! And, he was great upon my return of the trailer! This U-Haul business on Portage Road has ALWAYS taken excellent care of me and my needs exceeding my expectations over the years and I highly recommend them! I even go out of my way to use them. Thanks Portage Road U-Haul for taking such great care on me (us)!

1. Update system address to "1004 Portage Street"- the street is critical or you will go to the wrong location. Waste time. Gas. And be a very annoyed human. 2. Not change pick-up locations less than 24 hrs before pick-up; after a customer books 5 days in advance for one location, and gets confirmation a truck will be available.

Horrible customer service. I was overcharged on two separate occasions: 1) they didn't check the equipment in until the following day, so I was charged for an extra day 2) someone drove the truck after I dropped it off (I took a photo of the mileage before I dropped my keys) and I was charged for 17 extra miles at $.69/mile.

Communication!!!!!!!! No one ever calls when they say they will. It's a huge cluster f... The locks will not clear a bump out in the container so I couldn't lock Splinters if you're not careful Packing up is no good for furniture. A lot of gouges and scratches Won't use these again

The containers arrived on Friday the 23rd. I contacted uhaul on Saturday morning and they said they will only be able to deliver them on December 9th. So I scheduled the self pick up for Sunday the 25th at 9 am. We arrived at the uhaul at 9 am and the containers were not available and the forklift operator was not there until 1:30 pm and by the time he took out our containers it was 2:30 pm. And they also charged my credit card twice!

Need more knowledgeable staff to help customers. Every time I visit this location I have wait nearly an hour to be helped, only to be met by an employee who is poorly trained who is forced to use a barely functional computer system. Terrible!! Nice people, but terribly maintained.

Better trained employees, better check in system, reimburse customers for changes made and mistakes made, better communication with changes being made. We originally wanted a 15 foot truck for our move, was told that they don't have 15 feet trucks for long distance moves, so we went with 20. About a week before our moce, they said they won't have the 20 foot truck available for us at our location, so we have to drive farther for it. There was only mileage reimbursement but not GAS. Larger trucks uses up way more fuel, then the day of I was trying to do express check in for my truck, i noticed it said 26 foot truck which is obviously not what we planned for and we were never notified of this change. it took me some time to call customer service and figure out what was going on, we didn't get much of an explanation or an apology , only that we were supposed to be notified. We had to then call our moving people to figure out if the 26 feet truck would still be ok because we asked for a driver that could drive the 20 feet one, after this we waited in line at the uhaul place for 40 minutes before we were out of the store. The staff seemed frustrated with the system while helping the customers. only 2/3 of the staff working knew how to use the system. 1/2 that was working on it had to continuously help the other because they ran into issues. There was a super long line and I basically had the moving help I hired sit outside for an hour waiting for the truck to arrive (It was about a 16 minute drive to my place) so 40 minutes at the store+16 minutes to get home). we did get up early intending to get there early, but with all the miscommunication and finding out that we had the 26 foot truck, we had to make calls and figure out what was going on. 40 minute wait is ridiculous! I AM TRULY disappointed. I had my husband wait to get the truck while I rushed to get home to meet the movers, still then, there was very little they could do without a truck.As a result, we had to pay an extra hour for our move. We are truly disappointed with our experience this time.

I’m not impressed with Travis! When I called the stadium drive location (at Interstate Battery) In Kalamazoo Michigan. I asked if they were open on Sunday and he said yes, from 9-5. I said that the website said it’s closed on Sundays, he reassured that it was open. So I ordered the truck for Sunday instead of Saturday. When I arrived at my pick up time 9:30 am, the store was closed!! I had a minor panic attack and checked my email confirmation and it gave the the pick up location at portage street Kalamazoo Michigan. I was very irritated with Travis. He reassured me that interstate battery was open and that was where I could pick up my truck. He was also a bit rude on the phone and made me feel like I was bothering him with my questions. People like him are the reason I have trust issues with companies. The guys at the portage street location were very nice and answered all my questions. In fact, one of them swept the truck out for me and apologized that it had debris in it. He went over everything with me and encouraged me to call if I had any questions. Those kind of people make me trust companies all over again.

Staff was excellent, but inside of truck was not very clean and there was a problem with the windshield wipers constantly being ON (and it was not a matter of just turning them off .... they would come on intermittently and the washer fluid would dispense.

The employees at this location were very friendly. It would have been convenient for us to have a lock on the rear end of the vehicle on the chain.. Our vehicles' lock was broken. We had to buy a lock to keep our items safe. When the weather is snowy and icy I believe the staff should clear off the tail lights and front window of the vehicle to make the vehicle road ready. Overall good experience.

The staff were very nice and friendly. However I reserved over phone, where I was sent to this location, roughly 7 miles out of my way, for a uhaul that I couldn’t rent per having a debit card. There is a uhaul much closer to my home that I could have went to if I was still required the larger vehicle. Not to mention the uhual reeked of cigarettes. There were cigarette butts in the uhual. Literally had a headache by the time I was done. Honestly made me want to throw up

The truck had less than half a tank when I got it but it was recorded as a half. I returned it with a sliver under a half a tank and got charged for 3 gallons. Also got charged 15$ for leaves in the bed? You charge me 30$ plus 1$ a mile a couple leaves blowing in In fall half be reasonable. Sorry ur employees had to work for 3 minutes to sweep them out. Took me 30 minutes to get the truck cuz of ur scrappy computers.
