I had made a reservation for a climate controlled storage unit over a month in advance. I had a confirmation number given to me over the phone from the UHaul representative. I was told over the phone that I qualified for a free month of storage since I rented a 15' box truck. However when I arrived at the storage facility I was told they had no climate controlled units available in 10X15. I had to settle for a 10X10 without climate control. Also was charged 1,32 $ for barely going over the allowed mileage. Couldn't wave the mileage charge when I put more fuel in the truck than what was required. Very unhappy and dissatisfied with the whole experience.Dustin R.

Picking up my uhaul was great the people were nice and friendly. I had asked them since I choose a time after hours if it was okay to bring a little bit later that same night. They said yes that is no problem just bring it before 8am the next day and I wouldn't get charged. Everything was great, the cargo van met our needs. Plenty of room for a van. The one thing I would suggest for future vans and trucks, would be air ride suspension to keep the fragile things from getting broken, bumps make everything bounce.TRACY J.

While I was waiting for my equipment rental another customer was not able to pick up his reserved truck. The uhaul representative explained that a confirmation of a reservation was not a guarantee. Uhaul has some sort of reservation policy of 1, 2 ,3 and he was number two. This practice needs to clearly communicated to customers making a reservation. Fortunately I was number 1 for my equipment rental and I didn't have the same issue.JAMES J.

It was fine until the u haul broke down an hour outside of my location. The one actual person I spoke to was great. While trying to get roadside assistance this cooperation was one of the worst I've ever dealt with. I called multiple locations and they told me there was nothing they could do. Online â€œroadside assistanceâ€ is not customer service. I know things are tight right now but the management of this company is horrible. AMERITRUCK was great but they are at the mercy of these nimrods. Everyone I talked to person to person was great but I was told that management would not send a replacement truck until the truck I was driving was 100 % broke down. Please go to a different service. This cooperation was one of the worst services I've ever dealt with. Penske, budget, or anything else. I wish I could get my money back but I doubt these crooks will even read this.JAMES S.

I would make sure that the air conditioner works in the vehicles. The staff was friendly but most of them were new hires and did not know everything. Check out was slow due to the new hires. But the new cargo van i rented was top notch and drove like a champ. I prefer to use U-Haul vehicles when I need a rental vehicle. I usually rent a U-Haul vehicle 8-10 times a year. I would like U-Haul to initiate a frequent user program for those of us who rent often. MerciDean D.

The staff at the Lancaster U-Haul/Storage River Valley Mall location really bent over backwards to help me. I had a problem that was my fault during the rental that they helped me correct. Their service was extremely friendly and as helpful as any I've ever had anywhere. I always use this location and that will never change. They also have every possible packing/moving related item that you would ever need in stock. It's a great place and very well run.RENE L.
The move out date was on the 15th not the 17th. I cleaned and moped the unit myself for the next occupant. The unit moved to from 1323 was dirty ams not well maintained. I have been trying to get one of the biggest units uhaul has instead of three individual ones and paying 400 a month but always told none is available that offer electricity with them. I have paid out alot of money to u haul using the storage and moving trucks and van without any comprise toward the cost of my units or on the trucks. I'm not especially happy with this company for the way things are done or handled and the customer goes above and beyond to try and accomplish what they need from this company. It should be this company doing it for the customer. Not enough employees to cover issues, customers always having to wait, phones not being answered hardly ever. No accomedations for what the customer is looking for. Unable to directly speak with someone from a corporate stance who can deal with the issues. Just overall problems that should be adressed and worked on. Staff is over worked and not allowed enough time to interact with the customer to full fill their needs and wants. Due to lack of people, guidance and training. These issues should be addressed asap as well as accomidating what the customer needs. I called on Monday and reserved a 26 foot truck at the Lancaster Ohio location from your online service for 9 am. Saturday I get a text my 26 foot truck will not be ready till 1130 I called to ask why I spoke to a gentleman he was very nice he explained to me that that was not the procedure and that he would let his supervisor know so this wouldn't happen again but it was a one-way rental it's possible it could be turned The night before. He tells me to call in the morning to see if the 26ft Truck was there. I called and the truck was there someone lost the keys I get there they've looked for an hour and still no keys Noah rented me a 15 foot truck at a discounted price said I could use it for two days due to the fact of all this inconvenience what was I to do I use that 15 foot truck we made two trips also used two of my friends truck inconvenienced all my help. Regardless I was charged not only for the 26 foot truck for 129 $and some odd cents ridiculous U-Haul absolutely ridiculous then they charge me for the 15 foot truck I turned it in same day they did not discount the extra two days I was allotted I call the manager has to approve this a double bill are you kidding me I'm still waiting for a response I hope someone reads this 7402522157TERESA E.

I reserved online and stated the pickup and drop-off times, drop off time to be 7pm at the Newark location. I pre-paid in full. When I picked up the trailer, I did not realize at pickup, but the employee changed the drop-off time to 1pm. When I dropped off in Newark (at 5pm) this incurred an additional charge. I have rented U-Haul trucks before, and this was by far my worst experience ever. I scheduled myself for a mobile pick up at 7 AM, so I could get my truck early in the day. When I got there the app would not let me get my truck, and told me I had to come back at nine when the location opened. This set me back two hours on my move. Once we finally got everything loaded and to its destination, a heavy downpour started so we decided to wait to unload. And that was when the cab of the truck began to leak. Water poured in at the top of the windshield, soaking the seat and steering wheel, and shorting out the horn, which blared for about 30 minutes off and on, and we were unable to make it stop. We sold in December but didn't buy until late June. We moved from Ohio to Florida. We had heard horror stories of people whose belongings had mice and roaches in the containers when they received them. But everything was just as we packed it. U-Haul made this experience fantastic. The only advise I would offer is make sure you pack you things properly. I lost 3 TV's because I wrapped them with furniture pads and should have protected the screens. But that is on me, not U-Haul. I would highly recommend this service as a way to move anywhere.John S.

I don't have experience with another company to compare to so I'm not sure how to rate. My experience with everyone i have talked with at "this location" has been great however my initial booking was done through someone who answered the phone outside the location - customer service i guess..... and she booked me with something that wasn't available. Had I not called later and spoken with people on site i would have not had storage on moving day and would have never used uhaul again. I'm very disappointed in my transaction earlier today. On 9/27 I called to see about moving from my 5x5 unit to a larger unit. Unfortunately, I can't find my notes to identify who I talked to, but my call log notes a 17min call. The gentleman that I was working w/ was very pleasant. I decided on a 10x10 units for 100 $+tax per mo. He said he put the reservation in, and since I'd just paid the bill on the 5x5 unit, he said that I had til the end of the billing cycle to move out of the 5x5 and into the 10x10 otherwise I'd then have to pay for both units. Understood. I also inquired about prorating the bill for the 5x5 for the unused days from whatever day I ended up moving out. He said "Yep, we will prorate the unused days and credit it to the cost of the new unit" Awesome, Sounds great! FFwd to today..No unit reserved, no 10x10's available, I ended up with an 8x11 (that doesn't look like 8x11, but I'll be measuring to check), it requires 2 locks instead of 1, and the 10 $/15 $round lock we HAD to have for the 5x5 doesn't fit on these locks, so now that's useless. Then when I went to tell them that the 5x5 was cleaned out, I get a Move Out receipt for 0,00 $. When I inquired about proration, I was told, "U-haul doest do that, sorry." If I'd have know that, I wouldn't have busted my butt to swap units. Not that it's your problem, but I work 6,5 nights out of 7 per week and my son works days. This was the first time we were able to work out schedules to get this done. Only to have it turn into this. Hindsight is 20/20, if I hadn't been so focused that this moved needed to be done today, I'd have waited til a unit I wanted became available bc 60 $/mo and a crowded basement is better than 100 $/mo and still not being able to move everything in. So, I'm sure this isn't a big issue for y'all bc your team members weren't really the root of the issue, I just wanted someone to be aware. In the future customers should be given a reservation# and prorating the units when a customer is simply swapping units is just flat out good customer service. It's the 7th of the month and Im basically paying for a 5x5 unit I no longer have access to. Shame on a company like U-haul that takes advantage of their customers like that, especially in this day and age. Disappointed bc I expected better than that from them.
