I rented the unit for almost 3 years. Due to Covid-19, we lost an income. Although we made a few late payments, as food and utilities came first, payments were always made. A female made several calls to press us for a payment not made by the due date. She was disrespectful on the phone. Chris was somewhat helpful regarding late payments and penalties, we were still charged a "lean" charge. Every month was paid in full. As mortgage companies and landlords were required by the government to stop penalties for late payments and evictions haulted, U-haul should have taken notes out of that book.brian c. | Expérience générale

Trailer had inoperable lights on the passenger side. I notified the cashier at the time of rental that I would be driving over 1000 miles with it and needed good lights and tires. The cashier checked my lights after hooking up the trailer. I once again, insisted that I needed tail lights, turn signals, and brake lights all to work. She insisted that they were working and was responsible for checking the lights during the hitching process. The lights were not operable and I feel lied to. This put me at risk and I had to talk my way out of a ticket half way through my trip. This was completely unacceptable.KYLE B.

The service at this location was awful. Most of the associates were not wearing their mask. One was talking rude to a customer over the phone and another associate was talking about another customer loudly and on the floor for everyone to hear. When I first came, they could not find my reservation. When I got my keys, no one showed me what car it was so I walked around until I had to walk back into the place to ask. The truck had a sign still in the windshield and I was not told that it was our truck. We were told to tuck the sign behind the seat, as it was not prepared for us and we were not told how to identify the truck by the numbers on the top of the truck that matched the key. I would not recommend using Uhaul at all! Reserved my truck weeks ahead of time and was told they could not guarantee me a truck unless I did pick up and drop off at the same location. Changed the reservation and then they said I needed to pick another location so Changed it again, day before we move they call me and say the truck is not There you need to go 45 minutes away to get it, finally they find me a closer truck go to Pick it up and the truck is there but the company was out Of business so they had me go to another location 45 minutes away (keep in mind I'm Paying per mile) get the truck request to return it somewhere closer which they will not do. The consistent answer I was told by multiple people at Uhaul was that's not our problem. Not Sure what the point is of making a reservation receiving an email saying that I'm guaranteed a 26 foot truck at a certain location for them to call and change it multiple times and completely unwilling to do anything to help. In addition to moving it's really difficult when you can't get a truck that you reserved weeks ahead of time and no one is willing to do anything to help you. I would rather spend a ton of money than ever deal with anything like that again will absolutely never use U-Haul or recommend them ever completely terrible customer service completely terrible everything worst company everJAMES V.

This facility was great because the found me a truck after uhaul switched my reservation at the last minute, then the truck I was promised wasn't at the location I was told. I will never use uhaul again because of that experience, not because of the Douglas location.NICHOLAS S.
Was told I would receive an email with receipt when I dropped the trailer off. Hadn't received anything by 5pm, 6 hours after I returned the trailer. (5pm was my 24 hour time window, returned at 11:35am) I tried to call, had to wait on hold for almost 15 minutes. Was transferred to a call center where all they could do was tell me â€œcontract hasn't been closed, hopefully they will do it tonightâ€. Waste of my time trying to follow up on the return of the equipment and just hoping I was overcharged. People were nice and helpful setting me up with the rental. Closeout was a 0/10.KAELIN B.

I waited for 15 minutes to pick up my equipment. Not enough employees at the front counter. When I got there, I found my equipment was cancelled as I was standing in line waiting because I was late. We've been using this location for many years, since they opened. We have used this location with no issues, until the last rental & utilizing the new contactless pick up process... We found, unfortunately, that the online, no contact process wasn't that seamless & their online help during the pick up was not very helpful, either. Luckily it was during business hours & we were able to complete the rental process inside the store. But that totally blew the whole "contactless experience" out of the water! Upon pick up of the truck, the whole inside of the cargo area of the truck was dirty, so I took pictures in case an issue came up! I also took pics of the whole truck just to cover myself in case of any issues with damage that we didn't cause... (There were several dented areas, so I wanted to be covered against that)! Unfortunately, I also found that the phone system is even more frustrating than the online process. I called multiple times and waited 10-15 mins several times with no answer, frustrating when you're far away and don't want to take a 45 min (round) trip to check if you left something in the truck you rented... Which they did wind up having which was VERY nice, since we needed the microwave plate that was wrapped up and accidentally left in the cab... So, after waiting on the phone for almost an hour, we were able to resolve that! I still give 4 stars bc i can't do 3,5 which is what I'd like to give. The service and truck did the trick and were EXACTLY what we needed for hauling kitchen appliances!! But the online process is still a little sketchy, but I'm sure it will better itself as it evolves! I'll update my review next rental, but overall, i do recommend this place, they're quick and efficient & got everything taken care of! Don't hesitate to use them, just be sure to follow instructions carefully on the online process, otherwise it can get frustrating! Take care!Juan A.
The personnel that assisted me were very nice and tried their best; however, the company itself was awful and couldn't have made my moving experience any worse. I booked my truck online and then took the extra step to call and confirm I was all set. The day before I was scheduled to move, I was called by a U-haul rep to inform me that they did not have a truck booked for me. While they had sent me a confirmation email, the individual responsible for my initial order did not go the extra step to actually reserve the truck. After spending literally hours on hold due to poor staffing levels on their customer support line, I finally managed to get a truck... however, I had to change my moving day from Saturday to Sunday and drive all the way to Hammond Indiana (for a Chicago moving location) to pick up a truck. What an awful experience. I will never use U-haul again. I highly recommend you consider Ryder, Budget or any other service.Scott L.

The day before I was told that I will get additional mileage discount for not being able to get the 17' truck and 70 cents per mile, when I returned the truck at 8:46 am on Sunday I was 4th in line and the lady who was talking to a agent was not able to complete her process to be completed because of the system went down and I was told we will send you the final confirmation by Email and now I'm being charged additional costs that I was offered I'm very disappointed with the company and the service. The check-in process on the app was (again) terrible. It kept locking up or saying "no network connection" (not true). I tried the web check-in also and it was slow and didn't work. I went back to the app and it was working, very slowly. I uploaded the required photo of the inside of the trailer, but it didn't attach. Had to do it again. Did the exact same thing and it worked. The whole check-in took well over 20 minutes. It was frustrating and NOT THE FIRST TIME it's been difficult. The app seems to have trouble when I need it most.Jill H.
When I stepped up to the counter to check in, I was asked if I needed a dolly? Blankets? or Boxes? I told him "No I have my own," He then asked to see my drivers license, so I handed nit to him. He pulled his personal cell phone out and took pictures of the front and back of it, I asked why he did that and he told me "It's just easier if I enter it." I didn't think about it until later in the to have him delete it, guess that's my fault. The inside of truck cab was FILTHY!! it had mud and dirt all over the floor of the cab! It also had soda spilled in and on the cup holders. That along with the windows being dirty and smudged look like they could've cared less about the equipment. The truck they gave me was blocked in, so I had to go back in to get the guy to move it. I took note of the number on the truck that had mine blocked. When I walked back in and told the guy my truck was blocked in and told him the number of the truck that was blocking me, he gave me a dirty look like I didn't know what I was talking about and walked right past me heading out the door. While I was waiting, I over heard the other guy at the counter who was helping another customer to log into the Uhaul web site to enter his DL in.Hmmm. He got to the area the truck was and starts to walk back towards the store, he stops, turns around and goes back to see the number on the truck that was behind mine, like he didn't remember the number the comes back in the store to get the keys for the truck. if he would've just grabbed the keys the first time when I told him it the 10 minutes it took could've been avoided. The whole time I felt like I was inconveniencing him from the look on his face. Finally he gets in backs the truck up, jumps out and walks back into the store. As there was no other truck in that lane he could've been considerate enough to back way up and give me plenty of room to get out, or at least guided me out but nope, not this guy! I had to jockey back and forth to wiggle it out of the space it was in. I drove a truck for over 15 years so I'm no amatuer, I wonder how someone without experience would have done? 20 minutes after receiving my keys I was finally on my way and not too happy to say the least! When I got to where I was going, I parked got out open the back door of the truck and there was a dooly and a bag of blankets ZIP TIED TO THE TRUCK!! IF I WANTED TO GET THEM OUT OF MY WAY I WOULD'VE BEEN CHARGED FOR THEM!! SO AFTER TELLING THEM I DIDN'T NEED THEM, I WAS STUCK WORKING AND PACKING AROUND THEM AND COULDN'T UTILIZE THE ENTIRE BOX OF THE TRUCK!!! I will probably NEVER use UHaul again! I WILL DEFINATELY NOT USE THE ONE in Montgomery IL. If you do, don't have the short guy with glasses and tattoo's help you! Buyer beware!!SAMUEL E.

It's shame that this location represents UHAUL as a company. Rented a 17' truck on the 11th of February. All was fine until I looked at my credit card statement. Instead of the 128 $charge I was charged 444,25 $. So I called the location and spoke to the manager or person in charge. He informed me there was damage to the truck. I asked him where on the truck was it damaged? The move went without any incident. I did not damage the truck in any way. On the contrary they received the truck cleaner then they gave it to me. The manager could not tell me where the truck was damaged. He just told me that's what the computer said. I told him I would file I claim with my credit card and he just hung up on me. At least tell me where the alleged damage is on the truck! Don't just hang up on me. Going forward I will avoid UHAUL. I will also not leave a rental place until the rented item is inspected. I should not have trusted the lady at the desk when she said just leave the keys.ISIDRO L.
I'm very disappointed that I was charged an extra 25,00 $ for not washing the truck. It had dirt and salt on it when I rented it. Understandably so, it was about 8 degrees outside the day I rented it. That's too cold to wash truck through the car wash. I didn't have it washed because I wasn't aware that it was supposed to be. The truck was old and did not want to shift into overdrive. This cost me extra fuel. The box of the truck was covered in spilt oil likely from a propane grill. I spent over 100 $to throw rugs in the box to cover the floor and plastic to cover the carpets in the house to keep this trash from being tracked around. I had the people moving stuff in and out of the truck slipping on the ramp. Thankfully no one was hurt.KEVIN W.

I only have one BIG issue, when i was waiting for a uhual employee another customer came in without a face mask, i felt threatened and was concerned for my safety. I have a couple of issues. I thought the online process was was smooth and easy until the alarm on my unit went off every time I opened it. I asked some employees about it and they told me the access code I was given via email doesn't do anything I needed an access card, to which they gave me. Now that I had my access card ( which wasn't mentioned as part of the online purchase process) I assumed my alarm issues would be solved. Wrong again. The alarm still goes off every time I open my unit. Then I come to find out that my unit has a wiring problem and is crossed up with another unit. So when I check into my unit I am deactivating the alarm for another unit, and some other unit deactivates my alarm. This is very annoying and discomforting. It defeats the purpose of the alarm in the first place. I was also informed that the issue "should be resolved in a few months". If I hadn't already filled most of the unit I probably would have canceled due to this issue. On a side note, the employees were very helpful and friendly.Steven F. | Online Move In

Loved this U Haul. Very nice and friendly staff. Very clean and safe. I was there several times late at night. My only complaint is I paid for the whole month of April. 234 and moved out yesterday and they would not refund me the rest of the month. It was not the facility fault.
