The only reason I was at this location is because the location I reserved (Waterbury) did not have my truck because the previous customer returned it here instead. I feel the two locations should have communicated so that I didn't spend extra time going to the first one only to have them tell me it wasn't really there. Even when I got to this location, the truck wasn't ready because the key had been misplaced. This caused me to spend another 45 minutes waiting while they tried to track down the key. I just felt that overall my time was not particularly valued.Adam S.
Best service ever! Van was clean and in perfect condition. The gentlemen we dealt with (pickup and return)...Raymond Morales was a pleasure to work with. Mirrors missing. Brakes need attention. First van no rear view. Second van half mirror missing on driver's side. Can't believe how lax you are with safety. Tire pressure sign on the whole time. But the dirt and smell were shocking. How about using good old clean rags and soap instead of sour ones and scented products? Employee who served was efficient, helpful and process was fast. However, he was wearing an NRA (National Rifle Association) hat and a t-shirt that said "Guns are my life" or words to that effect. I was very pleased with the storage facility. My only constructive criticism was that it could've been a little better maintained. I came in two days in a row to pick up things and noticed that the rodent traps in the aisle and some stained pillows in the entryway had been there for the same two days. Also, one day I arrived and there were no carts available except mattress carts. I've rented from UHaul numerous times, but never this location before. I've had a horrible experience and will never go back to this location. I had a reservation on Saturday 8/7 for 8am, I showed up around 7:30am to get started on paperwork early. There was another man standing outside, his reservation was for 7am but there was no one in the building. Several others showed up and some left, everyone having reservations for that day. A few of us started calling around to figure out what was going on, at first we were told there was nothing they could do because they didn't have a phone number for any manager at the store. I called the waterbury location and they said that they would send an employee. A Plainville employee called to inform me that I could go to another location to pick up a truck or wait another 30 mins to get a truck at the Naugatuck location and told me that I would receive a 50 $credit because it was way past my pick up time. I told her I would just wait for the employee to get to Naugatuck because I had things to pick up there. Finally at 9am an employee arrived but he didn't have keys to this location. 5 mins later another employee showed up with keys, after he tried turning around and walking away once he saw all of us outside until I called out to him. By the time I got my truck and left UHaul it was 9:30am. I had people helping me move, had to get my keys in Manchester by a certain time and other deadlines I had to meet, that now were all pushed back. When I returned my truck I asked the guy who was outside about my credit since I received the truck late, he said he would have to apply it and that it would show on my receipt. I received the receipt and charge to my credit card but no credit for the inconvenience. I called the Naugatuck UHaul store to talk to the manager about my credit and it took me 3 days to get ahold of her; everytime I called it was she wasn't in yet, she was supposed to be in but she didn't get there yet, not sure where she was, she would call me back.. when I finally got ahold of her she told me to wait 3 days to see if the credit went on my car, I was supposed to call her on Friday 8/13 but called her on Monday 8/16 instead and told her the credit was not there. She said she would process that for me and that she had to wait to see if it went to my account before she did it. Why was it not just deducted from my total before my card was charged? She said it would take 3 days to show and that I would receive a confirmation email when she processed it. I still have no email or a credit to my card. I do not want to speak with her again about this matter, she's seems completely unprofessional and seemed like I was being an inconvenience to her. I am completely appalled at the customer service at this location. On top of having to wait 1 1/2 longer for my rental, throwing my entire day off and having to deal with this almost 2 weeks later due to lack of communication is absurd. Not sure who is running that location, but they need better training on their service skills. I would like a representative to contact me about this matter. MerciStephanie M.
It would be very helpful if U-Haul could research and recommend an App similar to Google Maps that if specifically geared toward towing trailers / renting moving trucks. In the Connecticut / New York area there are several Parkways where trailers / commercial truck are prohibited. We were traveling from Connecticut to Philadelphia and had to travel I-95 only because we had no other way to confidentially navigate around it. There was major construction and incredibility heavy traffic conditions. Not only would such an App be more convenient for UHaul customers but it would also reduce the likelihood of accidents / damage to UHaul vehicles by being able to navigate around heavily congested / construction areas.JOSEPH W.

I was overcharged for 4 gallons of gas when I returned it with the exact amount I picked it up with, I dropped it off at 6:30 PM and they did not send me my receipt till 715 so I could not call back, I even have a picture of the fuel gauge when I picked it up and they rounded the fuel down to charge me another 21 $. I ordered a 5x8 enclosed trailer 3 weeks before I needed it. I arrived and it was not there. I called 2 days prior to confirm and they said I was allset. I ended up with a motor cycle open trailer. Not the fault of the 2 employees who did their best but the fault of the manager.EDWARD C.

I recommended that this particular truck be removed from service. When driving this particular truck on the highway it was constantly over revving at 3000 rpm so also when driving at 60 miles an hour the steering wheel was cocked to the 10 o'clock position and if you let your hands go it would immediately pull the entire truck to the 2 o'clock to 30 position which if you didn't hold the steering wheel at the 10 o'clock position you would fare in to the right lane. This particular truck was extremely dangerous to drive and I hope they did take it out a service to get their front end realigned and checked because as soon as I returned it I was very outspoken to the workers at this location as to remove this vehicle from service until it was repaired. Also I've tried numerous times to call the 1 800 number and you have at least a 50 minute week which is very ridiculous to get ahold of customer service. This location was not easy or efficient to work with. I ordered a van and once I got there I received a dead van, then the second van I was given had no mirror present. They cleaned out of vans so I had to upgrade to a 10ft truck which cost more. Also my time was not shifted to account for all of the company's issues and time wasted. Once I came back to return the truck the next day, the man I dealt with was quite rude. Though I dealt with multiple issues for a vehicle I was guaranteed, he responded with questions on why I had issues. Then when I asked for a receipt to indicate the miles I actually drove, I received a receipt for the initial quote and he argued with me that it was the most up to date one when it clearly wasn't. After, I once again showed him this was not the correct updated receipt, he seemed frustrated and then provided me with a new copy. Overall, I will not be returning to this uhaul location.Noureen A.

The 15 foot truck that I reserved had one tire that was deflated to 14 pounds PSI. It also had a visor on the driver side that was loose and hanging down because of a broken bracket. The second (replacement) truck was a 10 foot truck; and, at first, I could not find the headlight switch because it had been pushed through the dashboard. That caused me some concern. After I was able to fish it out with some difficulty, I found out that it was set on auto which was better. Otherwise, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the transition from the 15 foot truck to the 10 foot truck was made very simple. The storage unit I'm renting is very easy to use and I am assured of it's security by all of the security measures in place. I found the online truck check out complicated to do on my cell phone and found it much easier to just go in to the representative inside to complete my check out and check in. I would recommend this facility to any of my friends.ROBERT T.

First of all, I requested a 15' truck for 8 hours on Friday afternoon around 2pm with a 10:30am pickup time. My reservation was confirmed. Saturday @ 7:30am I was contacted and told the location had none available. They then made a reservation with a neighboring town's uhaul. That location contacted me at around 8:15am to say they wouldn't be able to honor that reservation. At about 9 am someone called me from the reservation department and said they had a truck in Meriden which is about 23 miles away in the opposite direction of my move. I expressed this and asked if I would be credited for the mileage, I was told no because it was my choice to accept this truck. I informed them that my 'choice' was the original location where I made my reservation. Needless to say, I didn't get a truck until 5pm! Over 6 hours later than I requested. The person who handled my transaction ( Jacob ) said that because the truck wasn't reserved the following morning he would notate that the truck would be returned by 8:15am...he did not. Although I returned the truck before 10pm I didn't leave the keys because I didn't have my phone available. I arrived at uhaul at around 6:45am this morning to complete the return and was billed for a second day. I told Brandon that I was not going to pay additional charges based on the fiasco that was securing this rental and Jacob's own words. He began mumbling under his breath. He later said that I rented the truck Saturday morning and should have expected the additional cost. He was at the facility in the morning when I was speaking with Chelsea the manager about the problem with my reservation. But he was not there at 5pm when I actually received the truck. He was very rude as well as misinformed. This location really needs to get their act together. Even the manager, although she was well mannered was not great with customer service. For example, I went to the facility because when the call center transferred me back to her she said " please hold for one second I'm with a customer. " 29 minutes later she returned to the call as I was parking at the facility. I left my house to go there after holding 15 mins! Back to Sunday morning, a different employee was there and was explaining the charges, I told her why I came in this morning instead of returning it at 11:15pm the previous evening and Brandon interjected that " We don't rent 24/7! " At this point it was time for him to go! This young lady contacted her boss and resolved the issue in a matter of minutes and I must admit in my anger I didn't get her name, which I should have because as far as this truck rental went she proved to be the most efficient person I dealt with.MICHAEL H.

The Mgr was nice, the location clean. After explaining the issue I had with my SCHEDULED TRUCK RENTAL, she said would take care of some of the Rental truck issues I had...1st the truck wasn't available at time it was GUARANTEED to be, so time was changed. Then I called to confirm and the Time & DATE WAS CHANGED. Mgr said she would credit me the 50 $guaranteed if reservation wasn't completed as scheduled. (Time will tell, credit not immediate). Then the young man (Jacob, who handled my rental at location, obviously wasn't experienced enough to check me out, as I had the charge for my truck rental show up on my Credit card as THREE SEPARATE CHARGES! (I hope this gets adjusted correctly or my account will be messed up! (Instead of having a 415 $charge, I have a 1 245 $total charge showing on my credit card, 3 @ 415 $each! Jacob has messed up a prior truck rental to the point the Regional Mgr had to GET INVOLVED to straighten it out!) Overall, my experience with U-Haul, FRUSTRATING...ðŸ˜²ðŸ˜£ I'll pay a bit more and rent trucks from PENSKE. Additionally, the trucks are better MAINTAINED at Penske.Carol F.

Had some difficulty. Did not get pass key on first visit. I reserved one 10x10unit. When I came to check out the unit Uhaul reserved both a 10x10 as well as a 5x10. I had that corrected to one 10x10 and when I came to move in the 10x10 unit was given to another person. i finally had to use two 5x10 units. This particular storage unit in Naugatuck is EXTREMELY unprofessional, STAFF (the manager JESSICA and Stephanie) are rude, lazy, and the way they interact with their customers is unacceptable. I have called the Corporate office and upon speaking to them, they agreed about my recent experience as well; telling me that each store is ran different and they are sorry; and that I am not the only one who has been having a horrible experience. Every time I called to speak to them, they lied and gave me the run around, not to mention when we first got the units, they gave us the WRONG one causing the alarm to go off EVERY TIME we went to the units. They stopped responding to my emails, lied, and told me I was NEVER in touch in touch with them. I had to start documenting my conversations with times, dates, and what conversations went on. I will NEVER recommend the Naugatuck unit to ANYONE! On the RARE chance I spoke to a NICE human being over there, it was a man named Anthony. He actually helped and showed some type of human reactions other than clipped tones, huffing, and he NEVER hung up on me. He also LOOKED out together and not sloppy and unkempt like the women who are in charge. If you use this PARTICULAR STORE in Naugatuck, God speed. Document EVERYTHING and I hope you never have to interact with that horrible human being, Jessica. It's all false impressions at the first interaction. Everything was good. I asked in advance about after hours returns and was told I had to be back by 5pm sunday. To learn on sunday that I could have returned the truck after hours. Everything was fine but I could have used the extra hour. Also, for storage rental the unit is not automatically set up for auto pay. I feel like that should be an offered option. No loading dock! No easy access to get in. Rat traps in the units! A giant pole in my unit taking up space. No carts available. They don't have the big size units, like the one I reserved, they give you 2 units to make the size, which means you have to buy more locks . I attempted to use after-hours access to my unit for the first time this evening. My name was acknowledged correctly when I swiped my card, but then the access code which had been provided to me by U-Haul (AND IS ON MY E-MAIL FROM U-HAUL) was denied.
