Customer Service is TOP NOTCH! Facility and equipment always neat and well-maintained. Other customers, however, are part of the reason that I decided to no longer rent a storage unit. There are a few "really bad apples" that contribute heavily to the overall experience. This is not something that I'd expect Management is capable of dealing with, due to the lack of resources they are provided by the company. A regular security presence in the loading area would greatly benefit everyone.

I would said try have straps for customers to hold their items in place and to make sure not only you sweep out the trailer but spray it down with beg spray just to protect the customers and your company as well. But, the overall alright place.

Way too much for transporting to my location. Prices misquoted for my monthly costs. Had to call a lot for issues this time around using Ubox - it's not my first time. At pickup location, service was slow and visibly understaffed. I'm not sure if I will choose U-Haul next time.

Rent what you have. I came for a 10 footer it was plenty on the lot. But i was told they were all rented. I rented a bigger truck that i didn't need. To only bring it back to see those same trucks still there.

I had a truly awful moving experience and would recommend going elsewhere. Things the Detroit Grand location to do to improve are: increase staff on the last weekends of the month, do not rent out more vans than are actually available, and have separate lines for separate needs (moving supplies line, keys pickup line, storage line, etc.)

The elevator never worked. They fixed it months ago, and yesterday on my move out day the elevator was stuck again. I never came to my storage because of fear of getting stuck. The facility itself is nice. The customers are always parked in the wrong area for loading where the uhaul trucks need to go. You have no way of asking them to move if they are upstairs. The staff always gets an attitude when you have an issue with the elevator and move really slow if you or people get stuck. It’s never fully staffed. It’s always one -two staff members. Wait time is always 20-40 mins. Imagine just being stuck and can’t use the stairs! Do better.

When picking up my U-Haul I arrived on time to an empty store. No one was available to help for over 20 minutes. Once I got the reservation checked in we thought we were good to go. Upon drop off we were faced with insanely long lines, one teller, and poor customer service. Area for improvement would include more help to reduce the number of people in the store.

The van had a low tire pressure warning when I turned it on, which soon changed to a "tire pressure sensor fault" warning. I paid to rent a dolly, but it was not in the van when we picked it up, and I had to turn around and go back to get it. The staff was friendly and the inside of the location was clean, so I wouldn't let my bad experience stop me from recommending this location to my friends due to its close proximity to my neighborhood. However, I would tell them to expect some problems.

The Baltimore U-Haul is the way to go! I use them every time I've needed a truck to move. The staff is always very helpful and the equipment is clean.

Unfortunately I had one issue after the next with my storage unit experience. Starting at move in with my unit not being available, to power outages that locked me out for 5 days, to constant issues with my access card that couldn't get resolved. The staff was friendly and helpful (though fairly slow in resolving my issues).

Reserved a 26' truck. Received a call the night before that it was not available. Service person was very unpleasant and not helpful. She sent us to a different location and received an email confirming that a 26' truck would be available for us at new location. Showed up and it was not available there or anywhere else. We were given a 10' truck instead. Increased our trips immensely and wasted a lot of time. Service was poor. Line was out the door. When I asked if he was working alone he said his other coworker was late. Very disappointed. Hired movers through uhaul. They were also an hour late. Created a lot of unnecessary stress on already a difficult day. Will never use uhaul again. Shocked at the lack of service and communication.

Associate was not helpful. I walked in the get a cargo van, was told that I could not get one due to a morning reservation. I proceeded to leave and checked online and was allowed to make the reservation online. When I went back into the store the same associate told me that he couldn't honor the reservation, then when I pushed back he allowed me to complete the rental. I then asked about a bitch installation and was told that I had to make the appointment online and that it could not be made on store. The associate then told me to call to make the appointment. Truck did not look clean and had dirty napkins in the front cap and dried bird Poop on the windshield. The cargo area was not swept and sanitized. Terrible location.

I did the mobile check-in, which I thought would be in lieu of me having to go inside. After the many steps it took me online, turns out i had to go inside the whole time, which took away from the efficiency of it. I would have liked to have known this prior to. I do give credit to the employee managing the desk because he multi-tasked with me and another customer and got me out quickly!

Experience was very disappointing. In a very slow process I was given a storage locker that was already taken. Afterwards it took staff 1.5 hours to assign me a new, free unit, all the while they simply had me just waiting in the hallway without any communication. I was given no discount or apology for all my trouble.

I did not appreciate the social demeanor from a couple of employees. True example; there was a situation of deliberate nuisance when checking out from my storage I waited in line for 8 minutes only to be told that I was standing in the wrong line,when in fact the U-Haul service employee knew why I was waiting and so did the services employee in the correct check out line because they were made aware of that fact that my storage would be no longer occupied and it was clean and that my lock was removed etc.. 8 minutes is a lot of time to waist plus another 15 to 20 minutes running back up to the third floor to take pictures of my storage room(with my phone) and coming back to the service line/ which somehow dramatically increased in customers 😲😂🤣😂/that's not the last of it but my time can't be spent on what not to expect from a class of people in Detroit city.

When checking in it would be helpful if associate would mention that we need to check out email or text message right away to confirm. Mine had expired because I was not aware as I was walking to my vehicle and I had to go back at the end and ask if this was ok or not to leave un verified. Xtra steps we dont all know Uhaul does digitally.

The reservation system isn't great. They need 3 phone numbers and then a back up address. Seems like a very 1980s requirement. Overall, hard to call ahead for info, robots and dialtones. Hard to find clear information online. No way to reserve a time to move in, so we had to wait while they moved a bunch of stuff around. All of this added ups to unnecessary time (and cost) for everyone. Even our professional movers were upset by the process. But as far as having a box that stores things, it does that. Large reliable elevator and very convenient location. Nice staff.

My only issue is when the system is down . I had to walk to the office for assistance instead of someone coming to me . I’m disabled and found it very displeasing that the staff was not willing to come to me on a few visits. My only other issue is brooms and dustpans should be available and a garage cans on the storage floor Now i can say when i broke a picture frame the elevator operator told me don’t worry he would get the glass up . But it should be supplies available so we can clean up behind ourselves And i feel the pricing of the storage unit is priced to high . In my case i needed it while my house was being worked on when i got the unit i figured two months. i was approaching the fifth month and could not see me paying 114.00 a month because the house project had been put on hold because of the virus. I said all this to say the cost of storage should not cost over a hundred dollars for any unit Had the price been more cost affective i would of keep the unit longer . The company should consider long time storage should have a lower cost .

Thank you for all of your help during the coronavirus outbreak. I know you are all working hard, while trying to keep safe and healthy. My moving guys reported a less-than-stellar move-in experience. The man driving the truck had to wait 45 minutes for someone to move a car out of the driveway in, and said he couldn't get in without it being moved. He had to wait 15-20 minutes for people to come up and down on the elevators to get them in and out of the units too. Perhaps you need more staff during this really busy time.

You guys had me wait for 30 minutes after I got to the counter to get my unit for storage I contracted a moving company through U-Haul payments have been made to you for the movie they charge hourly you also kept me waiting at the point where I'm supposed to slow my furniture to the unit cuz the unit was closed 10 minutes on four separate trips this is cause me not to be able to get all my things in one day I have to go into another day of movie costing me more money not professional at all you guys are aware that the moving company that you contract it charges by the hour I'm at risk of having all my belongings gone I dealt with U-Haul because I wanted a professional organization responsible people I may as well have went to the liquor store and hide the neighborhood while while crackhead doping heroin addict opiate addicted you guys owe me some money on my move furthermore I was at threat of them keeping my furniture unless I paid $170 which had already been deducted from my card And I call in to get the storage unit it's called a reservation once I get to the counter it should not take a half an hour to give me the number of my storage unit and let me have access it's not take 10 minutes each time to actually get into the unit every trip I made every time I took a cart up I have to wait over 10 minutes for them to open the door how do you stay in business

Elevator constantly malfunctions, emergency alert is disconnected - you may be stuck up to 20 minutes waiting for help. Staff attitudes rank from disinterested to outright foul. Would NEVER recommend.

Only concern, if the key is lost, the facility does not have or cannot make a spare key for the contractor. The Uhaul road service does not do keys for the contractor. The only solution a locksmith.

The storage unit scheduled wasn't in their system (arriving in Detroit). There was no 10' X 15' unit! They gave me 3 separate 10' X 5' units on separate floors. I had to buy 3 locks. I WON'T BE BACK!!
