The front desk lady was very lazy. Every questioned I asked was NO. I asked her to transfer me to a bigger storage unit. She lied an said they didn't have any when they did I walked past many empty units that was bigger then the one I originally got. I asked the lady could she check her system she said NO. I asked to speak with someone over her she finally got up from the chair and checked the system an sure enough there were many units available. The bigger unit she gave me was taken by another customer so she had to transfer me again. I also kept asking her for a keycard she kept telling me NO that out of state people don't get key cards on in state people which made no sense too me at all considering I've rented many storages an never once heard of thisTashottia C.

There was a computer issue that delayed picking up my equipment by an hour. The rep that was helping me was very apologetic and calm but the tech issue was very frustrating. On another note there is a low hanging piece of industrial equipment in the store in a main walking area. I was walking while reading a paper and smacked my head on it. I'm a tall person so this isn't new to me. There is a small watch your head sign but I think a merchandise display or something could be set under the obstruction so you'd be forced to walk around and this won't happen to anyone again,James S.

I called Uhaul on 6/24/22 and requested to access my Ubox on 6/26/22. I called Uhaul again on 6/25/22 regarding confusion about two different contracts with two different balances under my account (one stating that I didn't make any payment, which I already had). They told me to discuss with Uhaul when I access my Ubox on 6/26/22. I showed up at 9am to access my Ubox in Detroit, MI on 6/26/22 and waited an hour in line to be served. The worker was not aware that I was supposed to access my Ubox despite me calling on both 6/24/22 to request access and 6/25/22 to confirm. I also told him about the two different reservations, explaining that the customer service representative on the phone advised me to have him straighten it out, and he stated that he was unable to help me. This has been a terrible experience. I got three different stories from three different employees and have not reached a resolution. I have used Uhaul for two previous cross-country moves. This will be my third and last move with Uhaul. I will never use your services ever again after this experience.Katherine W.

I was told I wasn't allowed to use my own lock, hence i bought the lock from Uhaul. 3 months later showed up to remove my items, and was told i needed an access code - never received access code. Had to leave as there was no manager to help Showed up again , they said that I would have to cut to lock that I bought from them. Which w as 50$- more money down the drain. Had to leave no manager on duty yet again. I called and emailed the manger Daniel Frankfor over a week no return answer, stating we would be there on Thursday 23 to pick up storage item When We got there , the personnel had no idea where the manager was again. I finally had to call the main 1800 number , and explained that the place was holding my goods hostage. Thank you to Clarence Vincent & RT Williams , manager supervisors, for helping me get my goods out of storage I feel I should get at least a month fee back for sitting in traffic three times wasting fuel and having to leave and not able to get my belongings . the U Haul facilities need to train more people to use the fork lifts, not have just one person doing the job at each facility. . two people with experience should be there , one from 7 am to 3,3 pm and the other from 11 am tp 7 pm so that the dahy is fully covered Monday through Saturday and one person on Sunday until 3 pm. This will be good for a facility like the one on W.Baltimore Street in Detroit. This will avoid people having to go 4 times due to lack of trained forklift staff. thanksJean K.

My space was secured with a plastic lock. I was able to get in despite not having scissors, but you may want to inform people that they might want to bring scissors to their new units. Also: my space has a window which is crumbling from water damage along the lower sill. I am hoping to use my space to store books; if the water damage is ongoing this will quickly become unacceptable. Finally: the restroom area on my floor smells excessively of mold. I got an email that my rental was 24/7 truck share. I get to the location and click that I'm ready to pick up my rental and it says I have to wait for the location to open. The location opened 5 minutes late even though the employee knew there were people outside waiting. Upon return, the return checkin person did not even acknowledge I had pulled in. First off, the movers I found via U-Haul never showed and I have no idea if or when I'm getting my money back. For U-Haul itself, I would return if I knew for a fact that when I arrive, my vehicle will be there for me to pick up on time. We spent 20 minutes walking back and forth, in and out trying to locate the correct key and then matching van. It was disorganized and I was panicking that there might not be a vehicle for me to take. With movers expected on the way, it was very stressful. However, they gave me extra time to bring back the van as a courtesy for the craziness which I think was great customer service.Monica S.

By not over charging me and accusing me of taking keys right after I handed it to a worker. I also got charged a full 75 when I was told if I brought back with a good amount of gas it wouldn't be charged $75. You guys are a scam and I'll be sure to talk to a court office to see how this can be fixed. I got a truck half filled with gas and then told I had to fill it up to be also charged on top of that a full 75 still after putting gas into a truck I don't own that I'm just renting. On top of all that I had to wait a whole hour to even get service to even get the vehicles key to move which I was late doing.. because of the incompetence of your workers and this â€œu-haulâ€ company do better by not ripping people off. I will go down to the police station tomorrow talk them personally about how me putting gas into a renting truck which I had to put 30 in also on top of that getting charged a full75 so I actually paid 105 or more to get a truck to get ripped off. The service was absolutely terrible. I rented a van to move, and tried to also get a storage unit, but got nothing but barely 3 word replies to my questions from the woman at the counter. I basically was suckered into renting a van, thinking I would also have a storage spaceâ€¦WRONG! Not until I returned with a van full of stuff was I clearly told, though I was able to make reservations onlineâ€¦that there were NO AVAILABLE STORAGE UNITS! Upon pickup of the vehicle, it had multiple damages that were not depicted in the photographs shown in the online inspection, so I had to upload new photographs during my initial inspection. The problem with this storage unit is the price. There are EXTRA FEES you have to pay. So I had 3 units in total costing me $149 a month (which increased EVERY FEW MONTHS) in total. I emptied 2 units which only left one but was told because I left a few items in them, I would be charged the full price until I went back and emptied them completely. I returned to do that but found that one of the units had another person renting it. I was told they would remain empty/ unoccupied until I returned and "it was not their policy to empty units out". Obviously, this wasn't true. I was still charged the full price for three units for months, instead of just one unit which I wanted to keep. The manager was over this and kept the charges. The moving process was very stressful. It was not explained during the reservation that you only have one elevator to use , and that you need to Purchase a lock for your unit. I ended up having to pay an extra $379 for my movers because of the time that it took me to get my Property to my unit. I am impressed at the conditions and cleanliness of the facility. I wasn't expecting to see it as clean. I also appreciate the covered docks which protect from the weather during loading and unloading. I can't recommend this facility enough - mostly because the staff goes above and beyond at every opportunity. Steve was the manager I dealt with, and he was always professional, giving excellent customer service. If I ever need a storage facility or rental again, I will come here. my experience today moving in was very challenging. There was a clear staff shortage, so the front desk person made several mistakes that delayed me from accessing my unit for up to 90 minutes. When I eventually received my unit, I got a 5x5x7 unit instead of a 5x8x10 unit. This forced me to throw out the rest of my furniture that did not fit. Knowing that I can not afford to come on weekdays with my demanding COVID workload at the hospital. I'm still being charged the price of the 5x8x10 for the 5x5x7. Steve, the manager, and the young woman that checked me in were terrific. Very helpful and they explained everything to me very clearly. I was very very impressed. The original unit I was supposed to get, 7045, was occupied so they quickly found another unit very close, 7041, and an employee showed me where to go. When I came back downstairs the first young woman that helped me met me in the lobby to give me an updated copy of my contract which showed the reversal of unit 7045 and the addition of unit 7041. Great problem solving skills and attentive to me to not make me wait in line again to get my updated contract. Awesome. Quite possibly the best storage facility on the planet. I cannot think of a single thing to truly complain about. I stored a large amount of my personal items at this location for over three years, as I moved from Detroit to Europe. Many of these items were of a very high value. This facility will be very convenient, accessible during foul weather conditions with its covered loading and unloading facility. There are plenty of moving dollies available free of charge to move your personal items back and forth between your locker and vehicle. I like that the units are climate controlled especially during the colder part of the year or summer time. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you can get all your packaging needs on site. The staff was slow, unclear, and unhelpful. Instructions to get to my unit were unclear and the code that they gave me for the elevator didn't work. Every time I opened my unit the alarm would sound because the system did not sign the unit over to me. Most of the staff, except for one, was unhelpful about this and it was not resolved. Storage Card did not provide eleavator access to 7th floor when I attempted to move in items after unloading. I wasted more than an hour reloading items after I found out elevator would not allow me to go to the 7th floor.
