I made a reservation for a particular size truck over 2 weeks in advance. When I arrived the day of the reservation this size was not available, nor the size below it. I was offered a reservation at 3:15 PM for that size truck (my original reservation was at 9 AM). I declined and took the biggest truck they had because all of the arrangements for my move revolved around my 9 AM u-haul reservation. Later that day I was informed that the 3:15 reservation had been canceled because there were no trucks available. This could have very easily been a fiasco, as I was moving to another city, not within the same town.ERICA C.

The Manager/Owner at this location went out her way to treat me wrong. I had to wait 30 minutes to have my truck checked back in, even though there was staff available to do it. The owner even told one staff who was about to check me in she would do it . I normally hand the the keys to a staff when checking back in I was asked to go back in to the truck so she could get info (never happened before) I was then asked would I like a broom to sweep out the truck or get charged ( never happened before) I then asked what is going on today you have checked me in before and we have never did any of this. Upon her staff bringing me a broom he said I got you sir (meaning sweeping the truck out) the manager replied no he will do it , the staff said we sweep out for everybody else what's the problem today? I explained to the manager the truck wasn't swept out when I received it but I swept it out any. I rent trucks a couple of times a month and have never had this type of treatment , I WOULD LIKE A CALL ABOUT THIS INCIDENT PLEASEANDRE G.

Locations of pickup changed twice. It added over 2 hours dealing with customer service and running around. I switched to four different people on the phone. Awful experience. A phone call or email would have been nice that things kept changing.KELLY L.

Not always a safe environment. Many times we had to deal with users of either alcohol or drugs as they seem to think hanging out in the building is the latest place to hang. You guys should relearn how to accommodate for customers when your equipment fails. Customer service was excellent. My only complaint was I wanted to reserve a 20 ft truck and there weren't any so I wound up getting a 26 ft one instead.jason C.
While the staff was friendly, they were clearly under-trained, and didn't seem to be getting any help from management. It was a bunch of young kids in over their heads with no one to help them figure out how to do things. I honestly felt bad for them. Also, got a complete runaround when trying to schedule my ubox to be delivered to my home. Received a voice mail while I was at work to schedule a time for delivery, called back literally fifteen minutes later to schedule the delivery and the person who left the voice mail was gone. The other person I spoke to asked me when I wanted it delivered, so I asked if a morning delivery was possible (thinking they would give me some times to choose from). They said "OK, morning delivery, I've got it noted down for them," so I figured it must be a range for delivery, like getting internet installed. Well, the next day, the ubox never showed up in the morning. I spent twenty minutes on the phone (while at work) trying to get through to someone to ask about it, but no one ever answered. My father, who was at the house waiting for the ubox, called and was able to get someone, who said A TIME WAS NEVER CONFIRMED. He explained the conversation that I had, letting them know the person I spoke to just said that it would come in the morning, well then the story changed and apparently person who delivers the uboxes had called out that day. Great. My father flew down specifically to help me unload furniture that I could not move myself and the is was the only day that would work. Several phone calls later, they were able to get the delivery person from a different uhaul location to bring the ubox to my house. Overall, it was a very stressful, unpleasant experience. I honestly think I will just hire professional movers the next time I move.Erica N.
The rates were outrageous and not competitive. I wished I would have driving 10 miles further, up the road to secure a rate of 55 cents an extra mile. This was the worst moving experience I have every had. They were 17 days late moving to another state. There was NO discount, even though they said there was. They hire a 3rd party mover for the uboxes and if you want a discount you have to hunt the 3rd party down to get it. NEVER use them. Horrible, unethical people.Heather R.

the first van had bald tires and needed oil. We were going to be given this van to drive over 300 miles! What bothers me is that this is average. The second vehicle we were provided was clean and had good tires but the manager explained she had selected the van personally and saw no lights. It concerns me that the employees would allow any vehicle to go out with bald tires. The workforce, in general, has little training and no standard operating procedures to protect the customer. What is important to these companies is the routine to collect money and make sure the protections for the company are followed. I feel like the workers and managers do the best they can with what they are provided. Pay more, train more. Focus on a quality product for better reviews.Martha D.

I reserved a 20' Uhal a week before pick-up day. Then I missed the confirm call from Uhaul one day before pick up. I tried to call back, someone just hang up on me. I have no idea why. Then I went into the gas station to talk to the shopkeeper. She gave me a number to call, which is totally different number from what I got in my text message.I called, and the guy helped me to cancle my reservation and remake another one. Went to this location to pick up and was told the only truck has a broken AC. I had to get it cause I need to move out. my cats are so hot during the trip. ughMing G.
The truck itself was clean but NOT well maintained! It shook roughly the entire time it was moving, like driving on a gravel road, but on the street. The brakes were very squeaky and idk if they are air brakes, but they didn't seem to work well. Needed a lot of time to stop. Luckily I drive pretty slow lol. This complaint is not only directed at the location, but at the customer "service" system. The staff were always professional, but the system is TOTALLY dysfunctional. 1. I needed these dollies at the last minute because the movers I scheduled through your website cancelled (tried to move to the next day)at the last minute. I confirmed with this person 2 weeks before the move, but then didn't get any response 24 hours before 5, 4 and 2 hours before he was supposed to meet us. He FINALLY replied to a text at the time he was due to meet us and said that he was out of town with an emergency. Things happen, but it was unprofessional that he didn't give us notice. 2. I called the North Avenue-Athens location to ask if they had a dolly and the person on the phone was not at the location and told me that they had none. She could only search that one locations inventory, but suggested that I go in-person because the computer is often not accurate. (She was great) The UHaul inventory system is BROKEN. 3. I went to the location and a helpful employee checked out these dollies to me. I explained that I already had a truck out, but neither of us thought to make sure I could return it to the same location in my new city. 4. When I noticed the return location and date were wrong, I called customer service and every person I talked to said that they could see the issue in the system, but it wouldn't allow them to update it. Each of them gave me another person to talk to until after the 4th one, I ended up back at the first. All of these required to be on hold for more than 15 minutes. The location was fine. However, UHaul is NOT okay. Will never use this company again. We reserved a trailer one week in advance. 24 hours before pickup, UHaul emails us that our pickup location had been changed. When we called the new location, we were told no trailers would be available. After multiple phone calls to corporate customer service (because apparently the local dealers don't have the power to solve these issues) and missing a half day's work, we thought the reservation was finally correct. Then at 5:00 am on the morning of pickup, we got yet another email changing our pickup location. More phone calls and got it corrected again. All this trouble and UHaul only offered a 50 $refund (which has yet to show up on our credit card). To be clear, this is not the fault of the Athens location. This is the UHaul â€œsystemâ€ - some automated BS that should be fixed at the corporate level. I suggest changing the company name to UHaulALottaTrouble. Use another company, folks. This was a simple car hauler rental. I have a 2018 ram 3500 dually and they said I couldn't rent a car hauler. This dually can pull 20k and they say I can't rent??? Then later I could rent but my drivers license came up with a e hold?? Toon 5 hrs to get a car hauler a waste of a day. The manager at this location should never work in customer service. She has a very nasty attitude for her to have been with this company for 5 years as she claims. She is the most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with in life. If I didn't just come in from a 14 hour ride I would have never stored my items there. I definitely will be moving my things soon. Grant also is another one that needs retraining. If these two are someone you guess think should work for your company your wrong cause they give u haul very bad look. I had a 10:00 truck rental and arrived at Uhaul at 9:45. I also had a storage unit. When checking out, you provide an emergency contact to uhaul and they insist on calling the contact and won't let you complete checkout until they verify the emergency contact. I have never heard of this type of policy. It was taking so long that people were telling the clerks to hurry up and people just started leaving. It took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to get my rental. I had a really bad experience renting the truck in another city but Jonathan in Athens was very professional and resolved those issues. Moving into storage was very easy. The facility is very clean and we are very happy with it. U Haul provide moving carts which helped tremendously and it was really easy to find the unit with the map that was provided.
