Service was slow and wrong.Had to make several phones calls to fix what was put in wrong.When I went to the online link to fix any wrongs on the contact said I had none ...under the order number that was on my contract.Total wait time in office for pickup was close to 30 min.Total time wasted on the phone on hold close to 45 min.ROY S.
I was directed here because the reservation made online that sent me to a different facility could not be honored. Compensation was promised by the agent who attended to my rental and her manager (which did not happen). Four days, more than 2 hours on hold and 3 re-directs later, I finally got to an agent who arranged for my compensation. SHE WAS AMAZING! Let's start with the fact that I had an eAlert. A gentleman at the Camden CT site said he paid it off. I was to go the the Orange CT location as they had the trailer I needed and he was taking care of the eAlert. I arrived at said location to a nasty young woman who treated me as if I were an inconvenience rather than a customer. She acted like I was putting her out and offered no assistance. She said there was nothing for her to do. Before arriving at the above location the gentleman at the Camden CT location spoke to someone at the Orange CT location and assured me the trailer would be ready and the eAlert rectified. That was not even remotely true. I waited for hours to get ahold of someone for the eAlert. Literally hours. The manager at the counter at Orange County acted as if I was inconveniencing her. She sat at the register eating what I assume was her dinner and chatting. As I stood there being ignored and spoken to very rudely because I dare speak to her. Dinner does not belong at the register where customers are being waited on. Customer's are to be the priority, She walked away in a huff saying something that only can be assumed as rude. And then yet the third individual again acted like they were at party chatting and eating instead of working. I finally got in touch with eAlert and was informed that I didn't even owe the amount that the Camden CT gentleman charged me because U-Haul had already taken half the amount a day before. I over paid, Have yet to be refunded. I waited hours. You would think that would be the worst. No. No. No. Tire blowout and three woman in the vehicle alone along I 80 topped off the day from hell. The bad treatment continues. I still have yet to get a refund for the eAlert overpay. The eAlert was ridiculous because I ended up with a warning from a Sate Trooper because the lights were not working. I should have not had to pay a thing. The warning guarantees a ticket if ever it happens again. To sum it up You owe me an eAlert refund that I shouldn't even have had. I also expect some kind of compensation for the tire blowout and dangerous setting three women were left in. Not to mention the expensive solid oak cupboard I was carrying got soaked due to the rain which would have not been an issue without the blowout. A NIGHTMARE! The whole thing from start to finish was a NIGHTMARE! There were two gentleman that were both very courteous and tried to help I do not know their names but I believe they are of African American decent. Next local rental has to be in Bridgeport area or I won't rent from U-Haul. Renting in Orange CT was 28 miles charged ( from my house to U-Haul plus the truck gets 14 mpg and not including my gas in my Sienna) and 2 gallons of gas @ 2,99 $. What you can do for the next customer is bring the rental unit closer to then customer. Also fix your phones so customers don't have to wait 30 minutes on hold just to find out it hangs up. And I really don't want to hear these lame COVID excuses any more.FRANCIS N.
I did find that the accelerator had a tendency to stick on when braking causing it to rev. high for a second or two. Otherwise the vehicle and its performance was good.PAUL H.

The "system was down" so we needed to use cash, which I understand can happen. The associate didn't help us with our options and seemed distracted or like we were annoying. The check in process wasn't smooth either and seemed like it took a long time for everyone to figure out how to check us in and how to refund our deposit.MORGAN D.

Your fuel policy is a joke. Providing me with a vehicle with fuel on empty, forcing me to spend my time and effort fill the tank even before I'm able to use it and then giving a credit that is LESS THAN THE COST of the fuel required to return has got to be the stupidest customer service policy since Blockbuster was fining customer for not rewinding VHS tapes.JACOB U.

I have to give a huge shoutout to the representative who helped me turn the truck in. He was there after hours, but still took the time to politely explain how to turn the truck in and helped me step by step through the process. His partner moved the truck for me and I was checked out in no time. This employee works 24 hours a day on call and I'm sure he shows up to every responsibility with a smile and customer care. His partner was also a huge help in the checkout process.Kevin D.

Your general manager, Fred Johnson, was nothing short of AMAZING with respect to helping me with my rental. In short, my work truck required hard to find replacement parts And I needed to keep extending my rental. Fred, even from his vacation (which I did not know he was on) assisted me in extending my rental until I was able to get my truck repaired and returned to me. He is an absolute credit to your company and while I was stressed out over my truck repairs, I did not have to miss ONE DAY of work thanks to Fred and his compassion for my situation and his EXCEPTIONAL customer service. I was charged for a mile overage. It seems like 1. You allocate to few miles to take a trip to ensure that overage fees happen. 2. The fee was obviously not necessary since the pickup location offered me additional miles for free if I wanted them. This mileage overage charge is the only part of this experience that lowered my opinion of using Uhaul in the future. I am also not pleased with the fact that tolls are not discussed and you have no obvious tolls by mail policy that is mentioned during pickup. Since everyone will likely have to pay a toll road fee, this seems questionable to not make it apparent upfront how it will be handled.Thomas F.
I accidentally locked the key inside the truck while returning the truck at U-Haul location. My contract was ended as I returned the truck after hours and then I realized that I left the key inside. I contacted roadside assistance, they can not help me as contract was not active. After waiting for 30 min at 10:30 at night, they send me a quote if 175 $with a waiting time for approx 45 min to 1 hour. I took my chances and left the truck. They charged me 225 $in the morning. 100 $for key and 125 $for jump start. Common, truck was at U-Haul location and not at middle of road . Charging 125 $for jump start is over kill and it's just 2 min job. I contacted customer care and asked for help in the morning. They said that manager from Orange CT location will call back but received no call. I am going to dispute the charges due to over charge and poor customer service.LALIT M.

What a terrible experience. We specifically asked for a drop off location in Stratford, CT, and were given the phone number. We called, no answer to that location, so the oblivious thing was to return the truck back to the location. The latest series of events were probably the rudest, if not the most unprofessional interactions I have ever experience. We returned the truck and stated that we called the phone numbers at the multiple drop off locations on the phone number provided to no answer. We explained the situation to the individual behind the counter, in turn went back to the manager that hid behind the glass door and wanted nothing to do with resolving the situation. The individual then stated its not their fault, its the other locations fault, they should have picked up, complete you know pass the buck mentality. No One was wearing masks in the store (global pandemic and all), and the individual behind the counter got defensive and kept saying its not their fault, they are going to have to charge us, etc its a one-way rental, read the contract. That person should be fired. Buddy, we read the contract, explained the whole thing to the uhaul orange, and then to uhaul customer service. We left the store, upset and fired up. Never in my life have i been treated with such blatant disrespect and talked down to. We called uhaul customer service, explained the whole situation to no avail, and stated that we would be contacted by uhaul manager. Well that was Sunday and its now Wednesday, and still no phone call. We were charged with mileage we shouldnt have been charged for, because we did what we were instructed to do, now getting punished for it? I would say to never, i mean never to go to U-Haul orange, even if you are in a pinch. Find a different company, even rent a truck from Lowes or home depot, or find a friend with a truck, than give your money to this abysmal location, and company. Formal complaint has been filed with the BBB and U-Haul corporate.IAN Y.
Kept waiting for a person to complete a drop off after 20 minutes found an employee who told me I don't to wait unless I need a per receipt so I left, 2 hours later received a receipt via email showing I was charged 50 $extra day although car was dropped off even before scheduled timeSHADY M.

The gas fuel level in the contract was showing full tank. But the van gage was almost 70 % full .. when I complained to the the guy behind the counter ..he said U HAUL will send you a link to the phone to confirm everything.. he asked me to decline and send download a picture with the fuel level in the van.. .. I DID SO... and after I finish. I filled the van with more than I used in fuel .put the gage back to 75 %. And you guys charged me for almost 3 gallons of gas .. WHY .,,?!Soliman T.

I was warned not to drive cargo van on the Merritt Parkway, and that was good advice. But I was not advised to avoid the Mass Pike which only accepts EZPass. If there is a penalty for using the Mass Pike (by accident) I'll be angry. It would be useful if Uhaul provided a written list of routes which don't accept cargo trucks and vans.FLYNNJ D.

I came five days later told this removed teo things out dump area , man call said give me until 5pm. Family return moved items could not get in entry card canceled out. That only complaint . The facility is spotless, the unit was spotless. I had to use the bathroom, very clean and well stocked. The directions to get in after-hours were not that clear, it took a few extra minutes for me to get into the building. But once inside, you could tell that this facility was well taken care of. The text I received when I booked the unit said there would be a lock waiting for me in the unit. There was no lock, luckily there was a Target nearby and I was able to purchase one. However, when I went to the office the next day to seek a refund for the lock, the person was unable to help me. She was very professional and took down my information. I was told to come back when a manager was available. The lock was less than 14 $. I would expect that employees can be empowered to make a 14 $decision, especially since I had a receipt and the text stating a lock would be in the unit. I have not had a chance to go back to the office, so I am still out my money. I provided my cell number, no call back. That is why I am rating this just average. Manager and staff were respectful and helpful. They only improvement I would note is provide information verbally or on small flyer with hours storage bin is open. Found out later same as store hours. I was also unaware that store bought lock was required. I also was not informed that card has to be swipe in and out each time bin door opened or alarm goes off.
