I need to inform your organization that Matthem, at the Portsmouth location is an incredible asset to you organization. Several months ago he went WAY above and beyond his job to help me, my daughter and her friend assess and fix hedr trailer hitch hookup. The mechanic was gone and it was at closing time. He took the time to check the connections, even though it was not his job, get the proper piece needed, and install it in the parking lot so those girls could continue on their trip to Iowa. Yesterday's interaction was similar. Matthew is very pleasant, polite, sociable and interactive, assuring all needs were met. I was pleasantly surprised to find he was still working at UHaul, and I hope his supervisors recognize his less-than-common workmanshiup and dedicaiton to 'getting the job done' in a very pleasant manner.Kym B.

Great experience. Matthew is top-notch! He was quick on the computer with check-out and adjusting my requests the last 2 rentals this month. Once he hops out of the office, directs me over into the lot and then deadlift drags a 6x12 trailer out from a tough angle by hand and onto the receiver of my suv like it was nothing.It was busy weekend day and I'm surprised how I rolled through there like VIP even tho I'm just a regular guy moving my crap all over the place.William P.

The employees were very friendly. The truck's back door sprung hard up and got stuck open. The two movers knew the locking mechanism well enough to dislodge to metal piece and get the door down. I mentioned the back door when I returned the truck. The RPMs going from 25mph to 35mph revved pretty high before shifting. I only drove the truck 17 miles total but I was glad I wasn't going on a long road trip! A busy place, the computer connection was slow and had people waiting (including me) about 10 minutes from the start of the transaction to walking out the door. Glad I got to donate to a cause when I checked out. Seemed nice that a franchise like UHaul would care about the planet.Jodi S.

The employee that checked me in ask if I planned on stealing the trailer because I had an out of state plate. â€œThis isn't going to end up somewhere down in New York is it? We're filling charges against two people this week that never returned equipment.â€ Hey kid, I'm driving a 90 000 $truck, you think I care to steal your 3 000 $trailer!! Not to mention my long 10+ year history of renting equipment from uhaul without issues. I was a pretty offended..Justin D.

The trailer I rented leaked lots of water inside the trailer when I drove through rain. This resulted in quite a bit of damage to the items I had in boxes inside the trailer. This experience alone would make me think twice about renting from Uhaul again.Rainbeau T.

Just don't think the mobile pick up should be offered if we still have to wait 20 minutes while everything gets approved and I still had to go inside. Once I was inside the guy seemed to have absolutely no clue about me even having a mobile reservation. Normally the mobile option would be for those not able to go inside, having to go inside should most definitely be stated as well as the long process once you arrive to pick up your reservation.Jalissa A.

Was informed to pick up my truck at 567 Lafayette rd in Hampton 0915. Went their and informed me we only have a 15 footer. Went to his computer and I was informed that I need to go to Portsmouth. Went their to pick up the truck. Their I was not informed that I would re dive a text message for preinspection. I found it after I returned the truck. No one went out with me to inspect the truck, they just handed me the keys. When you rent a car the agent goes out with you and inspects the vehicle. Not pleased with the service.Cris H.

Don't offer equipment and pick-up locations that are not realistic. I drove 30 miles and 28 of those miles we picking up the truck because you switched my pick-up location. The truck was so low on gas when I got it I couldn't even make it to my destination without stopping for gas. Your phone customer services agent are rude and not helpful. The overall experience was terrible and I hope to never have to use U-Haul again.Brian B.

It took about 5 minutes to get someone to come to the front to wait on me. the car cleaning guy went to get him. There was no one in sight when I first got there and yelled and no one answered. There were very many dents and dings on the truck, not mentioned by the person taking my information, but we did take pictures as you suggested.Marie L.

Customer service was a joke the guy was rude and threatened to report any truck stolen if we didn't have it back by a certain time, this was before I even rented the truck. He said â€œI'm not playing if you don't return this by 5:30 I will call the copsâ€. He was scattered and very stressed out. I opted out of the extra insurance but was still charged for it. I was going to purchase bubble wrap in store and it was a major inconvenience for him to ring it in so I decided to go without it. Once I returned (1 hour before my slotted time) I went to return the keys and he said oh go put those back in the car and I will check it in when I have time to. I felt very uncomfortable leaving the truck there without knowing what time he could get to it in case he didn't get to it before my slotted time. I went to my car and one of the workers kids who was about 7-8 years old began climbing all over the truck with the air compression hose to which I took a photo in case there was damage to the truck. I am very unsatisfied with my experience with this uhaul, I have rented many times and never have been treated like this, I would like a full refund on the order of this is possible.Tanya T.

I had to unexpectedly move across the country. I could not be physically present to sign documents to let my stuff go and stop renting the unit. This particular location was extremely unhelpful and most of the time they seemed annoyed as if I, the customer, were a burden. I wouldn't recommend this location to my worst enemy. No one there communicates with each other. It took me 6+ months to get them to change my address. And basically more than a year to get them to stop hassling me to pay them for a storage unit I was no longer using. They hide behind policies and procedures to get out of doing the right thing for the customer. Finally someone contacted me and they seemed to have half a brain and they sent me a simple letter that I could sign and email back. How simple?! Why couldn't that have been done sometime in 2019? The online check in doesn't work. The pin I was given doesn't work on the key pad, so I had to go into the store and get a key card.
