I rented a trailer from Michigan to Wisconsin. The contract said to return the trailer to this location. When I returned the trailer on time, the owner of the location told me to return it to a different location nearly 10 miles away. My wife showed him the contract, which said to return it to this location. After complaining that “you customers” are never willing to cooperate, he let us return the trailer. Later in the day, we got a text stating that we should return the trailer to still another location. We called the 800-GO-UHAUL number, and were told that the trailer was showing as “Late – Not Returned.” I went back to this location the next morning, and the owner told me that it wasn’t checked in because I didn’t return the trailer to the location 10 miles away. He checked it in while I waited, and said that there would be no extra charge. However, when we got the email receipt, they had charged us for an extra day’s rental and had automatically taken it from our credit card.

The only negative is that they don't answer their phones. I rang several times, morning, early afternoon, late afternoon for two days. I finally went in to reserve the date. While there, they never answer the ringing phone either and I was the only customer in the room the entire time I was there. What gives with that?

There was a slippery oil on the bottom (inside) our trailer, which almost caused a serious fall while loading. We had to cover the floor with a tarp. I rented a 5x10 trailer and they called back before I picked up and said they made a mistake. They didn’t have any 5x10s. I could either have a 5x8 or 6x12. I haven’t pulled a 6x 12 but knew the smaller trailer wouldn’t fit everything. So I had to pick the 6x12. It did not pull well with our Rav. Maybe because it’s an older car. I asked to leave it where we were because of how it pulled (and the fact that it was NOT why I ordered originally) and was told I would have to pay DOUBLE the one way rate. I asked for a little grace, seeing as they changed my order, but there was no discussing that. Very disappointed. I would have been happy exchange it and pull a 5x10 trailer back even, but it became very clear I was talking for no reason... I was stuck with this trailer I didn’t choose. I understand having policies in order, but also know that certain situations seem for changes to be made. Well run companies do that. Hard for me to recommend Uhaul to anyone.

Crew was unhelpful. Told me I had to deliver the trailer to a location on the other side of town even though the 505 address was clearly listed on the contract as the drop off. I unhooked trailer myself and had to plead my case to one assistant and the manager. No apologies were forthcoming...and this after over 1,000 miles on the road... expected better from my local UHaul...

I had to walk out without the rental van I had reserved on-line because: 1. I had to go through the ENTIRE rental process after having done everything on-line earlier in the day to precisely avoid having to go through the rental process in person. 2. I was charged twice what I had already requested on-line in the morning. 3. The person helping me was either poorly trained or had a slow-running computer or both and could not speed up the process or make corrections to my reservation. 4. The person serving me did not consult a manager for assistance to speed up the process. 5. I was at this facility for 25 minutes trying to pick up a van that I had hoped to quickly pick up and go to my designated project. 6. No one followed up to find out why I walked out without my order to find out what happened. I guess no one cared. I will not be visiting this location again.

terrible service, picked up uhaul truck at 9:57 and returned it at 11:58 on today, 6/10/19, at505 e capitol . went from uhaul to 14th street and to 4247 n 35th to pick up office furniture and back to 811 w Burleigh to dropoff and back to drop truck off for a total or less than 20 miles. chare should have been $45.20 or less. I was given a printed bill for $201.04 .they insisted that I put 200miles on truck. I tried to tell them there was no way that I had put that many miles on the truck in less than 2 hrs and only putting $5 in the tank. I am very upset and will be calling the Better Business Bureau and the corporate office. I can prove where I was and when furniture was picked up and dropped off. I don't appreciate being called a liar and being disrespected. I hope you haven't overcharged other unsuspecting customer. I will surely let all my friends know not to do business with you.

The manager that checked us in told us different information than what I received when I called the 800 number to make the reservation. I didn't know that I would need to put gas in the vehicle before returning it until the manager told me and he seemed a little annoyed that I didn't know. I also was told on the phone that I could arrive anytime after 12:30, the time I set up to pick it up. We live an hour and a half away from the location we picked up the van and had some issues getting there by 12:30. When we arrived the manager said, "we just canceled your reservation". I told him what I was told on the phone and he said "It's just like a flight, you have to be here on time". I didn't appreciate the sarcastic way he handled this transaction.

The reservation was done over the phone. Unfortunately, when this happened the operator did not click to do the pick up option when the facility was not open. I ended up having to wait an additional two hours for the facility to open to complete the reservation. The staff at the facility were very nice, efficient, and accommodating once they opened which was nice.

I dropped a 15' U-Haul off after hours (8:30pm) after driving 14 hours from Washington D.C. I had swept and cleaned the truck and secured the rented dolly to prevent damage. The next day (after sleeping off my solo drive through tornadoes in Dayton, Ohio) I received an additional day's charge with the time recorded erroneously at 9:30am. I had rented the 15' U-Haul truck (plus dolly and insurance) for 4 days, beginning at 9am on May 27th, to be returned by 9am on May 31st. I returned the vehicle well within the time due. I drove 885.3 miles, well within the 936 miles permitted. The truck would have been there in the proper self-serve area by 7am when staff opened shop. The added charge clearly lacked professionalism and integrity. I have written to the email provided when they sent me the added charge and promissory note, with no response received to date. I am committed to fighting this until it is resolved. I will never go to this location ever again.

Customer service was terrible. Scheduled a delivery and called to confirm with the manager of the location directly. He told us our previously confirmed delivery date cannot be done now after we had scheduled movers for that date. He was very short on the phone, was not helpful and hung up on us. Had to purchase a hitch and pull the boxes to our apartment separately because they were not able to be delivered on the day we had scheduled AND the location did not have a trailer for both boxes at once. After getting the boxes to the apartment on our own, the box was loaded on the trailer incorrectly so the opening was against the car and we had to pay the movers overtime to get the couch out between the car and the box (1.5 hours). Absolutely TERRIBLE experience and will never use Uhaul again. Waiting on customer service to call back with a refund for all of our troubles.

Everything went smoothly until we arrived at our storage unit only to find that it was incredibly small. I rented the 15 foot truck and was told by the woman that set up my reservation that the storage unit would be able to hold everything in a 15 foot truck, however there must have been an error. It was 15 minutes after closing time so I called the after hours number on the door by the loading dock, and that number was out of service. I quickly ran to the front of the store and found an employee in the parking lot (young man, I did not catch his name) and he was able to speak to his general manager and walked us over to find a storage unit that would work for us. This was such a great help and this employee really did go above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with the situation. Kudos to him and the staff at the Capitol Drive UHaul. Thank you!

Opted for self service to pick up the truck. At the end of the self service, it told me to go inside to the counter and show my phone to pick up the key. What’s the point of a self service when I have to contact a representative? Went inside to find a line of 5 people before me, one person at counter, had to wait 15 minutes just to get to counter, then was told to go find someone outside instead to get the key. Disorganized and wasted so much of my time. Also, I ordered a dolly for my move since I had very heavy boxes and just recovered from a major surgery. No dolly on the truck. Called and they told me to come all the way back to the store to get it. And pay for each of those miles to go back and forth?? No way. They luckily took it off my order but I’d much rather have had it for the move! There needs to be a better system in place for this location. All employees were friendly though.

Switch my original reservation that included mileage and rental fees for around 90 dollars. Told me some reason that made no sense. I did flexible pick up and drop up so the price would be lower. End up having to pay twice the amount. I could really say no because I had to complete the move. I feel cheated and it was very shady.

We dropped the trailer back off a day early. When booking it we were told that if we did that we would get refunded for the day we didn’t use it for. No one has yet to contact me me about that refund.

I picked up the trailer on Friday and paid for three days--- to return it by Monday. I returned it on Saturday around 2pm. On Monday, I saw a charge on my account for an extra day, so I called the drop off location on Capitol Street in Milwaukee, WI and asked them to credit my account. They said it was indeed a mistake and that it would be credited. I'm still waiting to see that credit on my account. I will never do business at that location again and even though I had a good experience at the pick up location, I will look into other companies before renting with UHAUL in the future.

Contacted Uhaul to be told I would have to go through check in on my phone. Which didn’t work properly. Rep then told me to download app, didn’t work. They were somewhat versed on process, but seem to be using app to give instructions. Extremely frustrating, because what if I didn’t have my cellphone. Text messages need to provide better directives. Also need another check in process for customers who may not have phone, no cell service or low battery.

I think staff should do better to prioritize the the customer in presence over answering the phone. Customers are not stupid. That is a tactic used to ignore having to help customers. When I came in, one worker was already talking to someone so I stood there waiting for him to call someone to help me or something. No, nothing, just him avoiding eye contact. Another worker eventually wandered in and didn't acknowledge my existence AT ALL. No "hi" no "I'll be right with you" nothing. Then the phone rang and picked it right up and started talking, didn't even ask the person to hold for a moment in order to help me. I'm there standing for however long with two employees on the phone not even acknowledging my existence. I don't get the best service in person at this location, but yes, everyone is always pleasant ON THE PHONE. Perhaps get a phone job? The last person came up, didn't acknowledge as he fiddled with keys on the wall. I was very close to taking a picture and posing it on social media. Finally he turned around and assisted me. Interaction was nice and the process from there went fine. The vibe of the place rubs me the wrong way, a passive aggressive avoidance until you are forced to deal with someone. I don't like the Riverwest/Capitol location and if we weren't charged for mileage I would avoid going there to rent my vehicle. Van worked out fine for my needs but this location consistently lacks in making a customer feel welcome and excells at making a customer feel like an annoyance one should try to ignore and maybe it will go away. I see doing business with Uhaul as a necessary evil sometimes. Please include customer service satisfaction in your employee reviews or give some type of training.

Had appointment noon friday to have a hitch installed, got there early, installer said, Oh I won't be here long enough to do that today, can you bring it back in morning. Really, I had this appointment for months? Bullshit. So bring it in at 8 next morning. It took 5 hours, installer being scattered between helping other and whatever. So he said it was done, I said, you have my trailer also, he said you getting a trailer too? Oh didn't know that, but other costumers are ahead of you so you need to GET BACK IN LINE. Bullshit I had the trailer appointment for months also! So get in line and wait, when I get to the front, they say Oh we don't have your trailer, you need to go to some Market to pick it up!! Again bullshit. I did go get the trailer at a market. They were fine and professional as if they had done this before. So I get home and happen to look under the car and see loops of wire dragging on the ground. The trailer lights hookup to the battery was way sloppy. No tie offs of the wire from the battery, loose and dragging on the ground. So I had to crawl under the car, tie wrap the wire so it didn't drag on the ground. The wire to the battery fell out of the connector and started sparking. Fuck, I was about to drive 1800 miles and the electrical was a total slop job! I secured and fixed the mess and made the trip. But what bullshit. Trailer hitch installation is just too complicated for this UHaul site. BEWARE!!

Got the app for the self check in option, but still took approximately 1 hour to check out due to poor internet connection in this area (staff on site confirmed that this is a common issue). The site was busy, so waiting in line to get help from the staff was not an option.
