When we got the truck home my husband being the mechanic he is decided to check the oil. It DID NOT even register on the dipstick. We had to add 3 quarts of oil so we were sure the truck would not seize up. This is unacceptable. What if a mother and her kids were moving and the engine seized up. She is stuck then without getting to her destination. We know the oil was not checked for a VERY LONG time since it took a bit for my husband to remove the dipstick.

I could barely park my truck in a spot because people literally left their trucks in the middle of the driveway.

First of all, we consistently use Uhaul for many needs and I am always concerned about how poor the cleanliness is of the vans and trucks. On our last use this weekend, the gas tank was not where it was marked on my rental agreement. We were an 1/8 tank shorted, but brought it back with more than we left with. Also, the latch did not work well and it was very difficult to open and close. In conclusion, the left side mirror was loose and made noise while traveling and the trucks are NEVER clean... Inside and out.

Well I was supposed to pick trailer up much closer to my house in Cedar Lake but there was a problem so had to go to Sville. No problem. Nice facility. Pick up was a breeze. Only problem was they didn't have blankets or a dolly that I wanted. Overall though happy with the experience.

Truck was dirty inside. Returned truck after hours and had an awful time getting gas to lock in online where it was supposed to be. It kept wanting to charge me 13 dollars. Refreshed numerous times. Finally it charged me anyway. I had more than enough gas in truck. Had to call to get the charge taken care of and the phone wait time was over an hour! Then was passed back and forth from 1 rep to another. Awful wait/resolution time. Finally Schererville rep was able to help she took care of it, was helpful. Still way too long to get a problem, computer glitch fixed.

Le service à la clientèle était génial. I do want to mention that we we rented the 26ft truck that was supposed to fit a 3-4 bedroom home. We only have 2 bedrooms and had to rent a second truck for the rest of our stuff. It may fit 3-4 bedrooms if you don't have anything other than furniture.

I've been trying to reach Uhaul this morning for 1 hour 13 min. I keep getting switched back and forth between call centers! I have a question regarding my contract. I still have NOT resolved the issue. Another 25/30 min hold ON TOP OF THE 1 HR 13 MIN! I've called the Schererville location where I rented the truck from and I keep getting sent to a call center representative. AWFUL AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE

I dropped off the auto transport a day before my rental agreement required and told them I would be bringing the truck the next day. The drop off time as per my rental agreement was noon. They told me that as long as I had it there by one it wouldn't be a problem. At five minutes after 11am they called asking where I was. I was getting gas and had the truck there at 11:15. Not sure what the deal was. This rental was far harder than it needed to be. I will think twice about using uhaul in the future.

There was a mix-up with my scheduled pickup location versus the actual pickup location... My confirmation was for Highlands, I did receive a text stating shareable but upon clicking on the link it was still listed in highland. This added a lot of time to my moving trip. the girl at the counter was very helpful checking me out however a co-worker was very unprofessional in the vicinity...... Talking about personal issues regarding a family member and talking about going "apeshit" on them and getting called a "fuck up".... Behind the scenes I get personal conversation, but when a customer is directly in front of you being checked out, simply not professional.

I rented a cargo van like have done many times before. Your staff is always polite and professional. This time I was so lucky, and I was given a brand new Ford Transit van, less than 300 miles! it was awesome! Thank you U haul !

Terrible experience. Truck was old and beat up. There was a tire blow out on the highway that damaged the trailer. There was a piece of metal found hanging from the truck that cut into the tire. Was stuck on the highway for quite awhile. A trip that usually takes 4,5 hours took 9 hrs. Uhaul dispatch did not get me in contact with customer service as requested. I spent a lot of time the next morning trying to get in contact with drop off to tell them what happened. Was not able to get a hold of them and then was charged another full day rental. So basically. The truck failed and broke down due to lack of maintenance and inspection quality of Schererville Uhaul. This caused my trip to double In time and I was actually charged for having a late drop off. What a joke. Will never use this company again nor will I promote them. I had a family of 6 with pets by the way.

Have a picture of where the key drop is. Also, give a warning that it will take 5-10 minutes to go through all the steps to drop off the truck.

The day before our reservation we were downgraded from a 15' truck to a 10' truck, but paid the same since 'prices had increased for the weekend'. If you are downgraded, the cost should reflect that. When we picked up the truck there were NUMEROUS other available trucks. I am not sure how we were selected to be downgraded but and explanation would be helpful. The truck smelled like absolute rot. The employee did not walk us out to the truck, rather she told us to match up the key chain w the appropriate vehicle on the lot. We were told the gas tank was full. It was not. Therefore we returned at the 3/4 tank we recieved it at and are now being charged extra. Horrible experience.

Provide the customer with a truck that is mechanically in good shape, the truck that was given to me had over $147,000, needed an alignment (shook the entire time - I have video), drivers side door did not shut properly without force, A/C unit did not work and drivers side mirror was loose and vibrated - making it difficult to see approaching vehicles.

Old style roller door on 6x12' trailer. Difficult to open/close & near impossible to hold closed and maneuver locking device one-handed. Load shifted during travel & door got stuck on something. Would open only 18-24". Nightmare. Will refuse this style next time.

I tried getting customer service on the phone 3 separate times and never got a live person. Waiting on the phone for a customer service representative for 20 to 30 minutes is unacceptable! I never did get my issue resolved bc I never reached a customer service rep.

The only drawback we had was upon on arrival to pick-up the truck. We waited for over 20 minutes inside the store before anyone acknowledged us to help us. I even wandered outside and employees saw me, and still nothing was done.

Remove the governors on the truck. The top speed is 75 mph. Do you know what that means with semi trucks all around you going down hill. Not a good feeling when you're about to be run over. Wrong thing to have on the truck.

Your facility is awesome and I appreciate the understanding when a valued customer gets into financial hardship especially with the pandemic Covid 19 my employment has been hit hard I work for ford motor company Chicago assembly plant and we have been hit hard with layoffs due to part shortages stemming from the pandemic actually 2021 was harder than 2020 and your facility has been extremely understanding! My unit was not available and double booked. It's impossible to talk to anyone at this location as the phone numbers provided go to central office. Staff are not quick, nor really knowledgable. Takes forever to look into things. They do not give prorated rent back if you move out shortly after month end, but they do start process of renting it back out on your dime. Renting a trailor was straight forward. Better ordeal.

We have a major problem. First of all your manager is a liar. And then refused my attempts to get a hold of her. Thats your problem not mine. My problem is she restricted my entry into my unit until her staff of THREE came out to take the second lock off. Only to find a 3 ft square of wood shavings that got wet were leaking. I never signed a contract giving you permission to lock me out of my storage unit. Under any circumstances. Period. So here we are now, in fact ill be scorned from my attorney if she finds out I am taking to you about this pressing issue.

I usually paid for my storage unit in person, or over the phone, either way any time I called or went in directly, the staff was always professional and polite, for example I bought a house, and my husband went over to our unit to remove what was left there, however I could not find the card to access getting in, I called & the staff was very quick to help my husband when he was there, the staff promptly took care of what he needed, which was helpful because several of our friends were helping to remove everything from that storage. I can only wish that other companies and retail stores had staff's as amazing as u-haul, if I need storage in the future, it will only be u-haul. Thank you for the superb help in anything I may have asked or purchased, to make my experience every time I called or went to u-haul in person. I would recommend any of my friends or family to use u-haul, there are a lot of storage places, however if you want everything to go as easy as possible, U-haul is the perfect place to handle your storage needs, and their staff is nothing less than courteous and professional. I put my experience as average because it wasn't excellent but it got the job done. I scheduled this storage unit over the phone on May 9 and confirmed with Christina one week before loading in. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were told our space was not available and had been "given away" prior to our arrival. I felt startled and upset, as hours before U-Haul trucking called me to ask if I could move my moving day to later in the week as they did not have my requested truck (made and confirmed same days as storage unit) to then called me back 10 minutes later to say they would have my vehicle. This call woke me before my alarm and concerned me, but as the job got done, we met our mover helpers and put everything in the vehicle. We drove from an hour away to use this storage unit for one to two months. After 5-10 minutes of the worker being in the phone with a superior, I was told I could be given a size up from what I ordered originally, if I was willing to pay more money (after a 20 % discount) than I was originally quoted and confirmed for the week before with Christina. I asked to speak to that superior when they arrived, which was explained as 15 minutes away. We got the storage unit assignment and were taken to the unit. A superior met us out there to reiterate the offer of 20 % off with the price hike as well as that our original storage unit would have been more expensive than I was quoted. When I asked about my original price, they said "prices go up $5 once a year so prices are higher than you were quoted." This concerned me as I was so recently quoted the 149,95 and left me feeling confused and questioning if I was being taken advantage of. It wasn't until we had to reiterate that we had scheduled and confirmed the space and wanted the same charge we were quoted for and that the only reason we went to another unit was because of their mistake that we were guaranteed our originally quoted price. My preference would be that this sort of situation does not happen to anyone else by more clearly communicating what unit will be taken up by whichever reservations are made in real time. I would have rather not had the experience I had, which was not good, and definitely not excellent. I would rather have an excellent experience and know that this experience could have been avoided but was not due to disorganization, poor communication, or flawed company policy. Rats from this storage area ate my Fulton sofas x 2 and other materials in my storage- I didn't have rats in my belongings before just in case anyone wants to know - I even found a died one on the floor in the storage area. I lost a lot of my storage and had to throw it out because of the infestation. Staff did not disclose that mice/ rats was even a risk at that facility.

The monthly cost is too expensive. I am now in Florida living and storage units here (same size) are $75/ month.

The staff (female) went above and beyond to help us with reserving the unit over the phone. Once we arrived to finalize the rental, we were helped right away by friendly staff and they even gave us a lock for free. Although that seems insignificant, it really made a stressful day a little less so. Your team at this location is superior to any other facility I've used in the past and I would recommend this facility to anyone in need of storage or uhaul rental. Thank you for hiring quality staff which ensured our stellar experience!
