For those of us who work long hours in a day, our ability to get to our storage unit sometimes extends in to the evening. Having early evening restrictions allowing us to visit our storage unit was aggravating. 7:00 pm closures was the norm for the longest period of time. Only this past week did I learn from an employee that the hours were extended until 10:00 pm. I was never told that the hours had changed from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The ironic part, I was vacating my unit this week when I learned of this. On the evening of the 15 of September I stopped at the office to let someone know that my storage unit was vacated and cleaned. There was a sign on the door that who ever was on duty was helping someone out on the grounds and a phone number was given to call. I called that phone number and I got what I call the U-Haul National desk. It took for ever for someone to finally help me, only to disconnect my call before I could tell them why I was calling. Again, another 15 to 20 minutes of waiting for the U-Haul National desk. Now I know the number that was printed on the door sign on the evening of the 15th is the number for that specific U-Haul location at 5555 S. Pine Ave Ocala, Florida as I have had that number logged in to my phone contacts since September 16th 2012. When I dial that number I specifically want to talk to that location and "Not" U-Haul National. I want a brief 30 second / 1:00 minute conversation instead of 20 minutes on hold only to be disconnected. I have tried to call that same number numerous times each day now since the night of the 15th and nobody ever answers the phone at that location. I keep getting U - Haul National. One final thought - Please mention to someone to look in to changing the recorded message for U-Haul National. It's annoying! The Ocala location is excellent, however corporate lacks in the drop off phase immensely. They wanted me to drive 2 hours to a drop off location. I called nearby towns, found a dealer more than willing to take the equipment, it was outside the designated "area" so I spent precious time finding out how to get my agreement transferred into their "area", and driving to that town to drop it off. The dealer who went above and beyond helping me and accepting my equipment was THE ABSOLUTE EPITOME OF SERVICE AND KINDNESS. American Self Storage of Palatka, FL will get my business from now on, as well as anyone in the same "area" he is in. An absolute shame for the way Uhaul corporate for the Ocala "area" handled this situation. Buck up on your customer service and don't let the customer have to figure out their own solution after paying you good money. Its a shame when the Uhaul corporate in an "area" outside of where I rented was more helpful than the one I was assigned to. only 1 issue, i will not use names or even describe the individual(s)/employee(s). I am completely satisfied with the way I was handled, treated and I'm extremely happy with the experience I had. My only issue was personal hygiene/uniform condition and cleanliness. I will not let it define the professionalism I was given overall nor will it stop me from using this location again. The U-Box experience was good. The problem was with your phone system and billing system. Each time I called I was on hold forever....average 30 minutes. I have been billed incorrectly twice and am still waiting for credits., On the phone call when I set up the day we would empty the UBox, the phone representative set up a new rental. No one understands why. If I hadn't received an email I wouldn't have even known about it. We empltied the UBox on time but were charged another months rent. When I called (one of the many very long hold times) I was told a credit would be issued. The next day, I received an email saying I had been charged another month's rent. Another long wait to speak to someone to find out that the system automatically issued the bill when the credit was put in for the previous incorrect billing. I am now waiting for two credits to hit my account. All in all, a frustrating experience.,Constance V.

Brandon is an exceptional employee. He was very knowledgeable, kind and was able to answer every question and even provide great directions of the area. The person who took my call originally didn't tell me very important information regarding renting the pick up from you but Brandon stepped right up and made me feel at ease with alternate suggestions and great customer service. I will be back just because of Brandon alone. He is an employee I want staffed with me to be completely honest. Thank you Brandon and Uhaul for providing him at a very important time in my life. My experience at the Ocala, FL location was excellent. The manager was a big help when the first trailer I hooked up to seem to "buck" when pulling out of the lot. The brakes seemed to need to be adjusted. So he quickly switched trailers for me and got me on my way (all the while with a smile). I wish I could say the same for the U-Haul corporate website. It "sucks" or in technical jargon...it is not at all user-friendly. I found the customer service reps on the phone to be very helpful only after being on hold for a minimum of 15 minutes. I had a reservation for a 15 ft truck. When we got to the pick up point at SilverLine Design in Ocala, FL, we were told that we had to go to a different location on S. Pine Ave. in Ocala and that the truck we reserved wasn't available. They gave us a 20ft truck instead. The steering on the truck was so loose and sloppy that my son was the only one able to drive it. Which made for a very long and strenuous trip forhim.Leslie B.

I didn't think about it at the time but we should have done a walk-around when I picked it up. It wasn't until I got to my in-laws house that I noticed the damage to the side of the vehicle. LUCKILY I took photos since the guy at the drop-off location looked at the damage then looked at me like "you want to explain this!" He asked me if the damage was there when I picked it up and I actually had to show him the photos! The truck itself looked like it had just been dropped off. The inside was dirty and at the very least needed a vacuum. I found out from a guy at a red light in Alabama that the drivers side headlight was out! The drivers side visor was drooping then the tab finally broke off completely and was hanging partially in my face. And finally the drive was awful! I chocked it up to that is how trucks ride, but that was one rough ride! The whole truck rattled and shook and hitting any kind of rough road was almost dangerous in that thing. Oh yeah, the front rotors were warped. I found that out on the first steep hill!Robert M.

my previous trailer rentals and Checking in went fine. The day before my check out. I went into the office and explain to them that I need a trailer to rent and will be leaving their facility the next day. The gentleman working the desk looked up my account, help me with the reservations of the trailer I needed and told me it would be no problem leaving the next day to make sure I have a staff member check the unit to verify it is cleaned out when I am done before I leave. The following day around 3:00 I cleaned out the storage unit and rented a trailer from them. the lady who checked me out told me that I owe for one more month because I should have cleared out the day before. I explained to her I was in the day before and the man at the desk told me it would be no problem she informed me that I owe the money and that there's nothing she can do about it and didn't really care. Then she helped me with finalizing the trailer rental and hooking it up. she must have a death wish or was poorly trained, because she tried to stand between my large truck and the trailer to back me up I asked her not to stand there and she gave me some feedback saying she had had to do it way,this is how she was trained. I told her that if my foot slipped off the brake or I accidentally hit the accelerator it would crush her and I am not backing up with her behind my truck. after further discussion I finally convinced her to move out from behind my truck. Then I had a disconnect her trailer because she didn't give me time to lubricate the ball on my hitch. After everything was hooked up I checked the tire pressure on the trailer tires. They were all low the pressure was below 50 lb on each tire with a rating of 65 lb cold tire pressure. when I brought this to her attention she told me that there was an air station inside their fence and that I can fill it up myself. I understand it's not her job to get the trailers rent ready and then if they're indicated rent ready she would expect them to be. But once a defect is found I would expect her to help fix it. Kim was wonderful - exceptionally helpful and went out of her way to accommodate and the location is fairly convenient. Aside from that - the facility is pretty disappointing. We move around quite a bit due to our work and have had storage units at different locations all up and down the coast and the unit we have at this location is without a doubt the worst we've ever had. The inside of the unit is old, run down with graffiti on the walls, the concrete is cracked, the steel girders have completely oxidized and there is actually a "RAT POISON" trap in the unit. I was so disappointed upon opening the door to the unit that had we not been moving for three days I would have left and found somewhere else to go.Curtis K. | Premières impressions
