I dealt with several different employees during the course of two visits there. None of them were remotely iniviting or friendly in any manner. They seemed like it was a bother to assist me. The trailer I rented turned out to be too small for my needs. When I attempted to return it, within an hour, and try to obtain a larger trailer or truck, the lady that I spoke with at the desk was very rude and unhelpful, made off handed comments and made me feel like I was being brushed off by telling me several times "If you're gonna return the trailer, you need to pull it over here" Gesturing to the side of the building. Each time I told her that I wasn't sure if I was returning it, but I did wind up keeping it.Tony S.

Make things less confusing. I had my reservation all setup online and I was about to pay and get my truck when a staff member directed me inside and basically had me redo my reservation 2 more times and he couldn't figure out how to do it. Another staff member took over and had me do my reservation over once more. I then received calls from customer service that night and into the morning asking about my online reservation which the staff member at this location disregarded. I will say the customer service representative who called me was very helpful and was able to eventually resolve things once she was able to weed her way through the confusion and duplicate reservationsBenjamin C.

The storage facility was clean and very accessible. The customer parking for check-in was not the easiest to find amongst everything else going on at the lot. Check in little confusing. Says wait by equipment tell associate checks in vehicle. If you wait itcwill be awhile. you can just leave. and the will check in . but make sure you take pics ilof miles and fuel level. with date and time stamp . because if you. leave it and they don't check it in tell after your due back time they charge you a late fee.TIMOTHY RAY L.

I picked my Uhaul up at 4:15pm and took it back at 5:00pm same day. That truck had a foul odor inside and also the truck wheels felt like they was coming off the Vehicle. I felt very unsafe driving something in that condition. I reached out to the customer service dept. and they was no help, Just placed me on hold , After 45mins I hung up. I returned van 40 minutes after due time. Because the center was so busy and understaffed, they told me to just leave the van in the return line. They checked the van in another 1:15 later, and I was charged for an extra day. It wasn't worth my time to call back and argue, but it was disappointing.Thomas B.

The vehicle was in a very poor state but I didn't realize this until I was on the road. The steering had a ridiculous amount of "play" and the brakes were not adequate for towing a vehicle on a dolly (I found this out after nearly running a stop sign). I continued on my trip as I was on a time crunch so I just dealt with the issues and drove cautiously but the vehicle should be properly serviced.TONY E.

Have the rental desk closer to the entrance and better marked. I had to go past a bunch of packing materials to find the desk. When the line was slow, Kofi stepped up and took care of my rental. You guys - the entire U-haul team - really knocked it out of the park on this one. I was having trouble locating the equipment I needed and the package I needed for a long-distance move this weekend. I called your customer service number on Friday morning and within minutes, the associate set me up with the vehicle I wanted and enough flexibility in the contract to account for the mileage I needed to travel. She was courteous, resourceful, and set my mind at ease. Later in the day when I realized I was going to be a few minutes late to pick up the vehicle I had reserved, I called again to ask the rental location not to re-rent the van I reserved. Once again, the telephone associate was professional, courteous, and made sure I knew it was all going to be all right. Finally, the folks who greeted me at the rental location both for my pick up and the equipment return were cheerful, courteous, and friendly. The rental location was clean, efficient, and appeared to be very well run. I will DEFINITELY be referring my friends here. You all took what could have been a super stressful weekend and made it easy and hassle free! THANK YOU!!!Virginia E.

When I picked up the trailer and loaded it one tire was low. On further observation, there was a rusty screw in the tire. Probably could have checked the Air pressure before letting it leave the yard. I took it back to the U-Haul location and they wouldn't repair it there. They told me to go back home and call the help number and they would come out and do the job. The repair people came out to the house replaced two tires and did a wonderful job. It was just an inconvenience that may have been able to be avoided.BRIAN S.

We would have appreciated knowing the motor would rev to between 4000 and 5000 rpm when we stepped on the brakes. Plus the exhaust system was not connected to the motor. The truck was clean.Barbara M.

The use of the application to facilitate the Check-in and withdrawal of the truck even to leave it later is a joke .. it is slow, it does not load the images or the data you enter I lost an hour in both procedures .. A person at the counter had his headphones on and you had to repeat what the customer wanted several times. The use of the app when you do the whole process, you still have to go inside the store to remove the key and if the people at the counter are busy, you still have to wait, then this app is a joke ..Huascar A.

One person is bringing the whole store down. The woman didn't want to take cash, was on her personal phone and told me the trailer I wanted wasn't available. I went outside. Got online and booked the trailer at this location. Went back inside and got Austin to help me pick it up. He was great. The woman should be fired.Shawn B.
I've spent hours on the phone the past 3 months trying to resolve multiple issues that were caused by the incompetence of the personnel at this location, and only received one call back of the 4 I was supposed to receive from management. They never picked up the phone once, so I was always stuck talking to customer service, and even when customer service sent the manager a personal email and text message about my situation, they were unresponsive and unhelpful. The communication isn't bad, it's non-existent. On top of this, after giving my card information to pay for my rental u-boxes from this location and requesting to be put on autopay, I was charged late fees not once but twice afterward, one set of which I have still received no credit or refund for, despite the fees having been incurred through the negligence of the staff. Additionally, the lack of an accurate and useful website has complicated every interaction I've had with uhaul in the past 4 months. From not being able to access my reservation details, to having booked two items (a storage locker and trailer) that I was later told were unavailable and I had to change my plans to accommodate (very difficult to do when moving). I was also unable to pay for my u-box rental online as I should have been able to. Overall, I've had a horrible experience with uhaul and specifically this location, with the exception of one or two individuals in customer service who did their best to help me. I will be telling everyone I know to steer clear of this mess.HALLIE LYNNE A.

I had to buy a chain and turnbuckle to secure the front passenger side of the vehicle I towed as the strap was too short to wrap around the tire and secure to the trailer. ALSO the trailer had a tail light out which I learned from a state trooper along with confirmation that I have no open warrants out for my arrest, (another 20 min delay to my trip). Beautiful facility. Excellent customer service from everyone I interacted with. To help assist you in the future (not complaining but trying to help) the van I rented had no gas. It was below the empty ice and the light was on. We received a rebate, but we had to stop and get gas as soon as we left. Some customers might not appreciate that.MARTIN S.
The check-out was very slow. Nor was the truck ready to go when I did check out. When my wife made the reservation, she requested two moving dollies and when I arrived home, I discovered they were not in the truck. I had to return to the store and ask for the dollies. Everything went wrong. I was supposed to pick my truck up in Madison Heights, but the truck wasn't available so I had to drive to Lynchburg. I had to pay 25 $more than my reservation price and the agent didn't even tell me when he set my return time so I was charged a late fee and for extra miles and gas even though the mikes and gas would have been correct if I was able to keep my original reservation. I had the worst experience with UHAUL from day 1. It all started when I reserved a unit online with UHAUL on Park Ave. I came with a truck full of things to put in unit to be told the elevator was out of service and my unit was on the 3rd floor. How on earth would I be able to move furniture and heavy tubs/boxes up all those steps? So, I cancelled my storage unit and still had a truck full that I couldn't put in storage and had done all that lifting and moving for nothing.... ON TOP OF ALL THAT, The woman who was at the front desk at Park Ave was the most DISRESPECTFUL, SARCASTIC, UNPROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! I HAD NO LUCK FOR WEEKS FINDING A STORAGE UNIT I COULD AFFORD THAT WAS AVAILABLE. TIMBERLAKE HAD NO UNITS available in 5x10. Finally one comes available but has to be cleaned. Then it had to be fixed. Then it wasn't my size I paid for. Home office had been contacted numerous times but they are just as unprofessional as everybody else. I never could get Timberlake to answer phone calls. Dude who did my paperwork didn't know what he was doing. Had to redo once I finally was put in right size unit. I pay in full back months ago, moved everything out unit and took lock off. I get emails saying I have a lien and overdue balance. What on earth????? I did not move in. There was not a storage unit...I was told there would be a smaller unit later this week. I am furious. I had a reservation for over a week, and then showed up early on 8-1 to find out which unit so I could move in, only to be told they did not have that size and would not have that size. The actual checking in to rent the unit was extremely slow and frustrating. There was definitely not enough workers to effectively manage the amount of customers looking to rent. I contracted (via the website) for a 10 X 10 unit. When I arrived with my stuff, "my" unit had a lock on it. The guy on duty did all he could to help me, but I ended up keeping the trailer for two more days while they figured out the situation. Finally, they gave me a 10 X 15 unit and I unloaded my stuff. On a subsequent visit, I learned that I was to be charged 40 $/mo. more than I contracted (because I had a bigger unit). I now have to go move my stuff AGAIN into a 10 X 10 unit, or pay 40 $more than I budgeted. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE.Norman N. | Premières impressions

It is very frustrating that no ones ever answers the phone at the Lynchburg Timberlake location. I called and tried to reach someone for over a week, was on hold for 35-45 minutes and either gave up or was then directed to the main call center. Regarding the rating. I would have listed it as above average except for one thing. Before management was changed in late 2020 the office people did not know how to handle check payments. The previous manager was so inept that she hid checks in a desk drawer. As a result I was sent failure to pay notices and charged late fees. That condition persisted for a period of several months until the management change. I consider that issue an executive failure for not training their personnel.Henry D. | Expérience générale

I rented a space outside unaware that it would get water inside and damage quite a few of my belongings everything had mold on it... I was told that I needed to had insurance for my belongings but no offer I paid a months rent which I didn't use I was told there's no pro rate even though they continued to bill me send letters and emails that rent was past due. Your staff needs a lot of work. 1st off you don't have enough to serve your customers I waited for 45 mins and then had to deal with a very rude lady behind the counter for another 45 mins. I was hoping this was going to be a quick in and out process. 2nd your large truck sounds like death. The check oil light was on, when it runs it bangs and clanks, when it stops it jerks and pulls like your not going to stop. This could use work. I came to you for a clean, friendly, fast, reliable service. While the truck was clean, and the facilities are super clean, the staff is not friendly, reliable or fast. This is not our first issue. We reserved a UHaul UBox from this facility, I called to confirm all was well, when my husband when to pick it up, he couldn't because that facility didn't have the equipment. Instead of offering to correct it they said sorry nothing we can do and we left: I called 2 additional facilities and finally was able to get in touch with a phone rep who actually helped fix the mistake. I reserved a storage unit online yesterday with my credit card and came in today to get a lock and start storing. There were two men and a woman there who I believe was the manager. The man who I initially went to at the register was not wearing a mask or a name badge. He told me that I would have to pay cash or come back tomorrow to pay for the storage because the card reader was broken. I asked if I could go see the unit, he sent me the wrong direction, wrong building. I came back, he just sat there and told me I was not looking hard enough. The other man who was finishing up with another customer asked what number I had and told me where to go. He later came out and helped me find the unit and I told him what happened with not being able to pay by credit card which was putting me in a dilemma with my plans to store. He told me he could check and enter my card into their computer system manually for me if needed. His name was Dustin, he was very helpful and the only one there wearing a face mask and name badge. So we went back inside, the manager and other man were clearly upset I was being helped by Dustin. The manager tried to block Dustin from the register saying she was using it (but there were no other customers at the time) and the other man who insisted I pay cash or come back tomorrow were both clearly upset towards Dustin because was helping me. Dustin checked me in, manually entered my credit card and gave me my paperwork. Dustin was very professional and gave good customer service despite his co worker and supervisor being negative towards him for helping me. My heart goes out to Dustin for helping me when clearly no one else in the building wanted to. What was immensely upsetting to me was the way the manager and other man were hostile towards Justin for simply doing his job and providing good customer service, something that neither of the other two wanted to do. I think this UHaul needs to be investigated further, 1st because of the man who insisted I pay cash or come back tomorrow, 2nd for poor management for creating and facilitating a hostile work environment towards the one person there actually doing work and providing good customer service, 3rd for not both these employees not wearing name badges. The whole requiring cash seemed dishonest knowing that the info can be typed into the computer. Thank you Dustin for providing good customer service in a hostile environment, I hope the corporate office takes notice and supports you. I also filed a complaint regarding what I observed and hope you are not subject to that type of hostility from management or your co workers in the future. Called 3 days ago to plan to unload my ubox and reserved a unit to put it in. Was told it would be ready for me. Got there on the day. One person for 20 minutes helping one person. Huge line. Finally got another person, called me to the front and told me he didn't know how to help me so I had to wait for the other guy dealing with an issue with a customer. After an hour of waiting, told the guy I wanted to unload my ubox and get my reserved unit. He said ok and went to get it. After 45 minutes he told me he couldn't find it and gave me his managers phone number and said he couldn't do anything and I'd have to come back another. Called Shamika, the manager. She said sorry no one there to find ubox, I'll call you back in 5 minutes. I had to call her after 15 minutes because she didn't call back. Said sorry, can't get any one. Wasted 2 hours of my day and the 5 people who were there with me to unload. I asked if she could have someone call me when they found it. She said yes. Next day, I get a call at 445pm asking if I was going to come unload my ubox because they close at 5 and had it waiting for me all day. I said someone was supposed to call me when it was ready. She said it was a miscommunication and it was ready but no one called. Another day wasted. Horrible communication, lack of training, no follow through, and nothing was offered to make up for any of this. Horrible service and awful experience. I'm only going to continue to use uhaul this time because my stuff is already there. I won't be using it again unless something is done to make up for this fiasco.Dustin H. | Premières impressions
The gentleman - I emphasize gentle, who has only been employed there for one month, was amazing. He did not say how can I help you he asked "how can I serve you" and with a warm inviting smile. His blue glasses added a touch of class as well. You might say I am going over board, however, I am not saying enough. Great job to whomever hired him. I cannot wait to relocate to this awesome city.
