This has been a terrible experience from start to finish. 1. On my previous pickup, mobile pickup was a failure because, I was told, I was too early, even though I was on time; so this time I showed up a little late. Mobile pickup was again a failure, and this time I was told I was too late! 2. Branch manager says he called me twice, but I have NO missed calls, and NO messages on my voicemail. 3. Branch manager was rude and condescending, didn't care that I didn't receive the calls. 4. Van was not cleaned when I picked it up. 5. Returned van in same condition, and was assessed a 10 $cleaning fee despite the van not being clean to begin with. 6. After spending over 500 $and returning early, and having spent several thousands a couple of years ago on a move, several hundred since then, and having another reservation for next week for another several hundred dollars: I do not appreciate being nickel and dimes by this company for a few more dollars on a bogus cleaning fee. That's not how you treat a good customer whom you appreciate. I am forced to conclude that I am not appreciated, and will start looking elsewhere for my future moving needs.John F.

On 11/19/2020 I reserved a 15 ft truck for pickup on 11/22/2020 in Crystal Lake, IL for a one way trip to Victor, NY. The day before my original pickup, I was contacted by Uhaul and my pickup location was changed to Fox Lake because of vehicle availability which was inconvenient, but understandable because I was told this reservation was now guaranteed. The next day, I was on my way to pickup the vehicle in Fox Lake, when I received another call from Brenda from the Crystal Lake location (less than an hour before my reserved pickup time) to inform me that they were unable to provide the vehicle I had requested at that location. Brenda was extremely unsympathetic and unwilling to take accountability for the situation and she told me that this wasn't Uhaul's fault or problem and that my only option was to drive to a location in Wisconsin or settle for a smaller truck with no reimbursement for my inconvenience. When I attempted to escalate the call to a manager, she told me she was the manager and that there was nothing she could do. Since I needed a vehicle that day, I had no options but to pickup a 10 ft truck in Palatine (which was in the opposite direction of Fox Lake). While on the way, I spent over an hour on the phone being transferred between 4 different uhaul associate because Brenda was not helpful or professional. At one point, I was connected with an associate at the Green Bay store who told me she had no clue how we had gotten connected, however she was able to issue my 50 $reservation guarantee credit. I then spoke with someone in Phoenix named Jeff who was understanding and helpful and he connected me with a corporate manager named Janis who agreed to issue me an additional 50 $VIP certificate for the time and gas that was wasted, and because of the inconvenience of not being provided the correct truck size. She explained that I could use that certificate towards the cost of this reservation and she also said I would be contacted by email by a regional manager sometime in the next couple days (which never happened). While at the Palatine store, the 2 store associates were much kinder and sympathetic and they both agreed that the situation was not handled correctly by Uhaul. However, they were unable to get the 50 $certificate to process and they were unable to find a solution and made me wait while they were on hold for over an hour with Brenda and corporate. After a long wait, I was contacted by a Donna from corporate regarding the certificate and she was extremely rude and incompetent. She told me that she believed I shouldn't have received another certificate and that there was nothing she could do to help because the VIP certificates take 24 hours to activate. When I asked for proof that I actually was issued a certificate she told me "I just have to believe her" and that she couldn't confirm the certificate #. I was then told by her and the Palatine associate, that I had to return to a Uhaul store after 24 hours in order to use the certificate on this reservation. I finally was provided a truck after spending more than 2 hours in the Palatine store with no reimbursement and a smaller truck than I needed for my move. This resulted in me losing 3 hours of packing time and I was unable to fit everything that I needed to move. I returned the truck at the Victor Uhaul on 11/24/2020 with the expectation that they'd be able to process my 50 $VIP certificate or at least provide a 50 $credit, but the store associate (Mackenzie) was unable even after speaking with multiple managers. She told me that this wasn't her store's fault and that I needed to return to the Crystal Lake store or the Palatine store for an answer despite now being 4 states away in New York. Furthermore, she gave me a hard time about not returning 10 $worth of moving blankets at their location (even though I had a family member return them for us at the Crystal Lake location and they were told we wouldn't have an issue). Mackenzie told me her store was already losing 10 $from not receiving the blankets and that I was lucky they were accommodating that. This resulted in another hour of my time being wasted in a Uhaul store with no accountability or reimbursement that I was promised. The only answer she had was that I could use the certificate towards another Uhaul reservation which is not what I was told when it was issued. Overall, this was the worst customer experience that I have ever had. I will never use Uhaul again and going forward I will guarantee that none of my friends, family, or clients use your services as well. I was told multiple times by Uhaul associates "that this wasn't their fault or problem" and there was zero accountability across the board. Now I am having to figure out another way to move the rest of my stuff across the country and I am left with no reimbursement and a useless certificate.Noah S.

I had to drive myself to this new location to pick up new truck after the ignition on the first truck (picked up at a different location and closer to where I was doing the move) malfunctioned. I lost a total of 3,5 hours and had to pick up the new truck in a location that added mileage to my trips. Aside from that, the attendant at this location was absolutely great, but my experience overall was very poor because of all the trouble with the defective first truck and how poorly roadside assistance handled the breakdown.RICARDORUBEN F.

Have a dedicated front desk person who hands off customer requests to specialists in giving the equipment out. Often front is empty of employee whilst they are issuing equipment etc. waiting customers talk about this amongst themselves while waiting. Very upset that My reservation was changed to farther location and larger truck that had mechanical issues. The cost of the extra fuel and miles was unacceptable. When I attempted to call U-Haul to complain I was put on hold for over 30 minutes and had to hang up due to how difficult it was to handle truck with messed up steering wheel. We rented a truck and drove it two miles away, loaded it in 45 minutes, only to find it would not start. We called and were told to go online. Went online and requested assistanceâ€"it took 45 minutes to even hear from anyone. When we did, we were told it must've been our fault for draining the battery-in an hour?? We were told we would have to wait another 90 minutes for someone to come and perform a diagnostic test. I had to ask that our time that we were paying for with the truck be paused. We did not receive any sort of apology or recognition that this could be difficult. Luckily we were not paying movers or we would have been losing hundreds of dollars by the hour. The customer service representative did agree to extend our time. When I called again, they said it had not been changed. I understand vehicles have issues, but they did not even acknowledge us for hours.BRYANN K.

We used U-Haul Moving & Storage of Victor for storage. We stored our things there for almost eight months. The storage facility is nice and clean and climate controlled. We especially liked that we could drive our cars and rentals right in to unload, and again to load when we left. This is great in any weather and especially nice when it's too hot or cold out. They even have a nice little section where you can take or leave items in good condition. We bought packing materials and ended up renting a 15-foot truck when we were ready to move our things. The people there are great, over the course of this year we have spoken to four employees there. Each person was kind, treated us with respect, and was very helpful. When a customer calls the customer care line when they are returning a vehicle to the U-Haul location, and being on hold exceeds one hour, there must be some financial restitution U-Haul must provide to the customer because the customer simply hung up the phone after being On hold waiting for the next customer care professional to answer the incoming call from the customer.Brian W.
