I opted for contactless pickup. It was not ready which resulted in an additional 45 minute waiting to check in as well as then go find the keys. However, staff was great.

Inside, the customer service employees didn't explain anything, were speaking very low and blasé; everyone had to ask them to repeat the info. As soon as I received my invoice by email I called to correct an answer. I was gaslighted by the customer service rep who told me they would call me back from the location. More than 30hrs later I still haven't received a call back and I had thus paid for 215km when I drove the van for 35km only. Would not recommend. Horrible customer service and overcharge.

Place was filthy. Customers moved quickly but one was voicing concerns over "hidden costs", which is the cornerstone of your business I suppose. Staff was blunt and unapologetic, but it's a truck rental place so who cares.

Found out after I paid that my unit was on a second floor with no elevator and I had my move large furniture by myself (which would have been less dangerous with an elevator). Had to go back to customer service 3+ times because attendant did not give me access card, did not tell me how to enter the building, just did not seem to be focusing on what he was doing. I asked to be put on a waitlist for a first floor unit but did not get any confirmation.

I hire a 10foot truck, due to my height and the seat's maximum distance from the pedals made braking a challange at times. I am 1,93 meters in height or 6ft 4inches. This is potentially a safety issue. I drove over a 500 kilometers on two occasions. Thanks

Trailer was left with residual gravel jamming up inboard “d” ring tie-downs. The Topaz location parking/storage is cramped with no customer parking. Thankfully I was not pressed into backing up the trailer for storage when returning the trailer. Trailer served it's purpose well but was overkill for moving a motorcycle.

After a number of failed attempts to get your website to recognize my location, I was not able to use the contactless pick up to get the van that I needed. I had to wait for the location to open and then had to wait in line for another half an hour because only one person was at the counter to help customers while there was a line up out the door. I had a window of time available to move into my new place and because of this experience I was left with only one hour to complete the move. Very disappointed and will not be using Uhual again.

The lockers are smaller than advertised and when you are storing 18 inch boxes the 3' wide storage rooms need to be just that or they are useless. The first room they tried to put me in was about 28 inches wide and when I complained they put me into a room that was 34 inches and still charged full price. I was left with no choice but to find storage elsewhere and then had to rent a truck to move everything to the larger storage room at a different facility.

Truck was full of standing water. I received the truck at 1/4 tank and responsible to refill to that exact amount and anything over is a wash and anything under you are charged 1,97 something. Fill the tank and give the person a chance to fill to the accurate amount and not lose money.

Horrific management. Attendents were obviously impaired, confused and absolutely worthless. Filthy, overcrowded, disorganized. Trucks parked all over the street. One of the worst truck rental experiences ever. Will never use Uhaul again.

Service was poor. The attendant did minimal work, did not speak to us other than to highlight all the terms. UHaul check in sheet said the truck had 3/4 tank of gas it actually only had less than 1/4. Truck was damaged on outside with rusty tires. The attendant was unhelpful and they were standing around chatting outside. It took over an hour to rent the truck, even though this was a reserved order.

The truck has little breaks left, engine starter about to die. Truck had booze & drugs under passengers seat from previous person. Charged for 2nd day usage, while I waited hr in person at store to return keys to a person to close my order time.

A bit of a challenge when I returned my van. Could have been due to the number of people returning and picking up. I found it a bit hard to find the 2 people doing the returns.

Before I could even get in to talk to an associate, there was NO parking on the lot because there was so many trucks and uhaul pieces of equipment, that I had to park a block away on a side street. There were 6 people in front of me for when the location opened at 10am, and then another 12 behind me. It took over 45 minutes to get in to get my equipment that was supposed to be ready to go upon opening. Even with online check-in, I still had the associate go through the whole contract. When I finally went to go get the trailer allocated to me, it was stuck in behind other trailers and trucks that had to be moved. There was not enough staff to help everyone both the day of my rental and the next day when I returned the equipment. Again, on my return there were so many trucks and trailers everywhere that the associate told me only place for me to return the equipment was in front of and blocking the loading zone. Overall, this was the worst experience I've had with uhaul, and something seriously needs to change.

Rental used was pretty beaten up with initial condition inspection pictures not showing accurate condition of truck exterior. Other than that a great experience Props to the customer service counter who got me all sorted out when the 24/7 pick up hit a snap

The booking procedure is too complicated. It also requires the use of a mobile phone. Not all of us carry mobile phones. You should accept licences on the premises, not just digitally.

Staff at this location were knowledgeable, efficient and courteous. However when we got home with the truck and car trailer, we had trouble detaching the car trailer. We tried to call into the U-Haul phone number that was provided to us to get some help to unload the car trailer but nobody answered after 30 minutes on hold - we gave up but luckily resolved the issue with help from our neighbours. A better call-in service would be appreciated!

Head office messed up my excellent experience, when they put my drop off destination as Sydney. I am from Saanich and Sydney is not near me. I attempted to change it, but after long waits and considerable frustration. You need to improveyourcustomer svs and head office procedures. This made the whole experience very unpleasant and I would think twice before renting again, and let others know what I went thru.

I find it very inconvenient to have to fill up the gas tank partially - it means I have to guess at how much gas to put in the truck. Most car rental companies seem to ask that you return the car with a full tank of gas - this is much more convenient.

Your website has changed vs. instructions received. I missed my ferry since after hours pickup instructions were not accurate. No refunds, discounts, apologies. Finally got the truck by returning in the morning to pickup 12hrs later; truck smelled like feces, definitely not cleaned. Had to pay full 24hr rate despite having no use for truck in latter 12hrs, whereas had use for truck in previous 12hrs. Massive inconvenience, learn how to run a company instead of railroading your customers and squeezing them for every penny. Utter crap. Will not use again.

This was my first time renting from Uhaul. I can't lie I was a bit nervous to drive the cargo van as it is bigger then what I am use to driving. I went to U-Haul weeks before the rental have a look at the inside of the truck and the staff were very helpful. On the day of the moveThe Vehicle was very clean easy to drive and the mirrors were very helpful while parking. I will Definitely recommend U-Haul to friends and family and I will definitely be using U-Haul in the future. Thank you for your service, it was a pleasure.

This is has nothing to do with the Topaz Ave locaton and everything to do with UHaul in general. I ordered a 6'x12' trailer to be at the Mill Bay, BC location for pick up. The day of pick up, my husband goes to the Mill Bay location and the trailer is not there - a 5'x8' is instead. When my husband asked the UHaul rep at the Mill Bay location why our trailer was not on site, the rep said that because UHaul headoffice did not call us 2-3 days in advance to confirm that we wanted that size trailer for that specific date at that specific location, the trailer was not sent to the Mill Bay location. Both my husband and I called UHaul head office and were told that if we wanted the trailer that WE HAD ORDERED, we would have to drive an hour south to pick it up at the Topaz Ave location. To say we were extremely disappoint and frankly pissed off would be putting it mildly. As it was, the UHaul head office rep did not offer us any compensation, and when we asked to have the trailer that we reserved and paid for moved from the Topaz Ave location to the Mill Bay location we were told that was not possible - even though we had paid for the rental of the trailer and for us to pick it up at the Mill Bay location. The UHaul reps at Topaz Ave were wonderful, very knowledgable and helpful; the head office reps were completely useless and frankly condescending to a situation that we did not create. If it wasn' for the fact we were in a time crunch, I would have told the Head Office rep to refund us in full and would have found different means to transport my goods. In short, Topaz Ave location is great, UHaul head office is worthless. I'll never use UHaul again for any trailer/rental needs.

The photo upload wasn't working. But it is not the locations fault. The self check in/ return was a terrible experience because of this but the staff at the location were very helpful during pick up. Drop off no one was there (after hours) and it was a painful experience. Photo's not uploading again…. Either sort your software out or get a better system.

The location was had no air conditioning or even fans supplied. Not so much for customers but the heat was terrible for staff. Vehicle had a very terrible front end. Loose tie rod or imbalance of tires for it was very shaky after 50km/hr. Windshield inside was very dirty and when dropping off vehicle it was very unorganized. I ended up dropping keys on the desk and walking out. My fuel levels were incorrect on my contract compared to my pictures I took before I left the depot.

Truck had zero washer fluid in it. Which I needed because there was stuff all over driver side of windshield. Turns out the "stuff" (which looked like alot of sneezing) the stuff was all over the inside of the window and on the steering wheel and the instrument cluster. I also reserved a cargo van but ended up being given a pick up truck when I arrived to pick up my rental. This made my move take wayyyy longer and ofcourse it rained while I was moving. When I called to extend my rental because the lack of cargo van made the job take that much longer, I was greeted with long hold times and attitude from the scheduling guy who said I was going to be charged 125 dollars for extending the rental. I wasn't actually charged 125, so maybe he was just trying to add stress to an already stressful situation. Also besides having to drive more mileage and extend my rental (costing me more money) I never did receive a gift card as advertised for not getting the vehicle I had reserved. Overall a very poor experience. I am reluctant to use uhaul again.

I put 9$ of fuel in the vehicle as I drove a total of 20km and this put the fuel gauge up to the point it was before. A surcharge of 11,24 $ was placed on the bill I received. This is unacceptable and needs to be refunded.

Sometimes difficult access because rental vehicles and trailers get parked infront of the storage area blocking parking spots. Mice poop but never saw a mouse. Confusing access if you're the first one there (no instructions on how to turn on the automatic door). Elevator works and there are usually carts to use.

The parking is terrible, staff even park in the only two spots that seem to be associated with the storage units. Staff is typically dismissive, or rude. Only one person had good customer service through the three months I rented storage.

I have been charged 2 000 $dollars for a unit that the manager told me was taken out of my name in February, since than I have been trying to contact him once a week and have staff tell me he will call me later in the day each time and he doesnt I will be filing a formal complaint and sueing If the issue is not resolved

Your access to the storage states till 10pm the store closes at 8pm and due to covid, the access was cut short till 8pm. Not sure why a survive what interacts with no other people has a shorten time because of covid. This storage location is the worst. U-Haul is not number 1 in Victoria BC, not even close. Might want to have a talk with the staff. Every time I've used this uhaul my experience has been the worst.

The main doors in, and the elevator are in general disrepair and are regularly broken down, prohibiting easy access. Organizing obtaining new units for rent was almost impossible, b/c online and telephone systems are poorly updated. However the staff were exceptionally helpful in a stressful time, and made it possible to take on a number of units that online systems weren't aware of. There is another gap in online systems between HQ accounting systems (where bills are paid) and the local accounting teams. We regularly paid bills and still received notice for payments needed. The facility is dramatically understaffed at the month's end, when transition is high. The staff are helpful, and thoughtful, but ill-equipped to handle priorities at the end and beginning's of the calendar month. However, mid-month, the staffing levels enable appropriate service. Lastly, the local truck-rental systems feel scammy...taking reservations for trucks in one office, and then making the customer drive 20k in both directions to pick up and drop off the trucks, and then charging them for the KMs. Poor business tactics.

Because I did this entirely over the internet and not knowing the ins and outs of the facility. It would have been nice to have been shown the access to the H level and other possible options. Freight elevator was slightly confusing the first time. All in all I'm pleased 

I moved my stuff in 2 days before the end of the month because of sertain circumstances and then ended up moving my stuff out a month later but 2 days after my rent renewed. Would not give me a deal for only being there for 2 days. Made me pay for an entire month. Ridiculous. Will never use uhaul storage again ad there are many other options.

It was very frustrating to find a parking spot. You want customers but don't give them enough parking. Your idle trucks take up all the parking stalls. Extremely frustrating!

After having used the Excellent U-Haul Facility in Winnipeg on Empress I was severly disappointed in the moldy storage facility in Victoria. Every bedding item I owned mold smell and needed to be replaced including matress. Having no heat and no circulation is a big part of the problem. The check-in counter is understaffed. Check-in was 20+ minute wait. Your check-out process is broken. The counter person had called a week before my next months fee was due. At this time I informed her that the locker was empty, cleaned and that I was done with it. She seemed confused needed to check locker and would call back. Nothing? She calls again two days before the rent is due. I state what I had said earlier. Now she says it may be too late to NOT pay for another month. I going "what"? I explain again and she say she will call me back. That's the last I heard of her. Wow that place is too busy and too understaffed. Moldy and Damp. Go elsewhere my friend.

The facility is old and has a mice issues. Trying to find a place to unload or load is nearly impossible because of all the uhaul trucks taking up the spaces that should be for storage customers. Store the uhaul trucks off site. The manger is great though and was very accommodating and helpful!

Incredible slow at the counter like they no idea what they doing , I paid for a month from November 11 to December 11 and received a call that my locker had been cleaned out , problem was I put nothing in the locker and when tried to explain they looked at me like they had no clue what was going on , never use this place .

Storage area itself was fine but the organization was not. We were told at 7pm that the facility was closing when the website says we have access until 10. Parking and trying to find a spot to load/unload the truck was a nightmare. The online move out tool for storage does not function well at all, and the manager did not check up on this which resulted in me getting an email about owing the next month's rent as well as a late charge, and having to call corporate customer service because the location did not answer their phone. It took about four days to get any sort of confirmation that my move out had been processed finally, which was only in the form of a "how did we do" email.
