I’ve rented trucks from this location before without incident....however, this time was a disaster. The staff were disinterested teenagers who had little experience and zero professionalism. The truck was damaged, side swiped and broken passenger mirror. It was so old and in disrepair I don’t believe it was road worthy. Additionally I was mid billed. I’m very unhappy with the event and will rent elsewhere going forward.

We had requested to go to Uhaul in Escondido to pick up the truck. We were sent to a third party to pick up the truck. It was obvious the worker was not involved much into rentals. She was very nice and professional but all she knew was to pick up the truck. By picking up the truck in San Marcos it also added mileage to the truck. We had gone to Uhaul to confirm to pick up the truck there then a few days before departure we are told to go to some Postal place in San Marcos.

Everything went pretty smooth and the equipment and pricing was good. What I found, frankly, a bit disturbing is the employees using their personal phones to take pictures of my ID to upload to their business portal as well as taking pics of the trailer hook up and things like that. It seems like they should be supplying company equipment for these purposes. I asked the guy if that was his personal phone and he said yeah but it didn't save the pics on his device. Still, it just doesn't seem professional to have some kid whip out his iPhone and start snapping pics of your drivers license... and I don't know if I trust that the pics 'aren't saved on the phone'

I rearranged my day and scheduled an appointment for this past Saturday to get a tow hitch installed and nobody was there to do the work when I showed up even though my appointment was in their system. I called the customer service number to complain about my wasted time and was told the GM would be in contact with me. Didn't happen. The employees don't seem to have the authorization to make decisions, were nonchalant and seemed poorly trained to create solutions.

We had a reservation but waited for 40 minutes on line to check in - cutting into our rental time. On that day only 2 staff working - one of them was new and needed almost constant supervision. This is the business as usual experience at this location. The only reason I use it is that it’s very close to my home. I wonder how the U-Haul brand allows this location to operate like this. I would never recommend this location

your online checkin processs/web app is awful! i went to check in the final step and had entered the wrong mileage and had a bill of $1.6 million dollars! 1. change the app so you can go back to any screen and change data 2. do some basic data editing: how could i rack up 1.6 million miles in 30 hours?????? i'd have to be driving like Mach 71!!!!!!

The personnel here rudely transferred me to central call center when the question I had specifically pertained to info only they could answer on my rental return. This resulted in a circular call-back from the central call center to get the info the center’s staff should have provided in the first place. I felt like I was dealing with a slack-jawed robot who did the very least amount of effort he could to help in the situation.

The service here is an absolute joke now. The few times, I have used this U-haul, it has been nothing but hassle. The GM that was there April of 2018 was so much friendlier. He was running a short staffed location and he still managed to keep customers happy and coming back.

The facility is very badly laid out as there is no elevator to over half the units. How on earth can an old woman get boxes of books up over 20 steps to a storage space without hiring muscle help?

I rented the same trailer twice over the past 2 weekends. The first time it took 30 minutes, the first 10 minutes waited for someone to finally make it to the desk area, to get the trailer hooked up and get out of there. There was only one other customer. This past weekend it took over 45 minutes to get out of there, again with only one other customer there. I had to show the uhaul employee which trailer I was picking up and then once I backed my truck up to the trailer, the employee walked around and checked his phone for about 5 minutes looking at the trailer and scratching his head. I finally got out and had to show him how to hook it up to my truck. After he still hadn't hooked it up, I decided to physically hook it up myself and then he hooked up the chains. The trailer had debris in it when I picked it up, so it was in better shape when I dropped it off.

I had reserved and filled out all of the forms online and it still took 15 minutes for the guy helping me to figure out his computer. All of this was just for the pick up. It took another 25 minutes just to drop off the stupid trailer. I’ll be renting from Home Depot next time.

I've always rented from this location previously and enjoyed the experience. Not this time. Customer service was dismissive, nonrespondent and flat out rude. They told me my van was ready to go yet i had to remove cleaning product and towel myself in order to leave the lot. I also was promised not to be charged for the second day if i made it back by 12:30, which i did, yet it appears on my receipt that i was. Very expensive transaction for such crappy treatment. This behavior included the general manager who obviously sets the tone. I'm happy i will never have to rent from this location ever again.

The line to get the truck at 8am on Saturday morning was very long. I was the 3rd person in line and it took over 30 minutes. It is inexcusable to have a single person working the desk on a weekend. I was warned in advance from someone a week prior that it was going to take a long time. Once you do get to the desk the check-in process is way too long even with a reservation. You need to streamline you process and have more people working.

Dropped off the truck as required and agreed upon with Mitchell district manager. I was called on Monday and was asked when was I going to return the Uhaul??? I told the woman I had already returned the truck and gave the keys to a young man who was working on Sunday with another young woman. This woman asked when did I return the truck, I said Sunday about 11:00am and her response was “oh really- it must be on the lot”. I am actually going to call the location today (Tuesday) to make sure that they located the truck that I returned. Being told that I had not returned the truck was very unsettling. I do not want this to turn into a missing truck and somehow being charged for it when I was doing a favor for Mitchell, by returning the truck to West Seattle instead of Vashon Island (where I live).

We had an unsatisfactory experience with West Seattle U-Haul. We had a truck rented for a cross-country drive, so we presumed they would give us a good quality vehicle. We had made our reservation over 3 months in advance, so they had time to make sure that a good quality truck was available to us. Instead, this is what happened: 1. The truck leaked badly. We were carrying valuable objects, which nearly got destroyed due to rain coming in from the back panel of the truck. We had to buy towels and stuff them against the cracks in the interior of the box, then wring out the towels at each stop. 2. The truck was filthy. The interior and the box had not been cleaned out. The windshield was covered with dirt and bugs. When we cleaned the windshield, we discovered that it had two cracks in the windshield. We were not able to report this damage on the initial damage inspection report, as we couldn't see the cracks due to the filth on the windshield. 3. When we picked up the truck, it was parked very tightly between two other trucks. They did help get the truck out of the tight parking space but expected us to do it. 4. They did not walk around the vehicle with us and mark off damaged areas. 5. They did not tell us that we needed to inspect the vehicle. Instead, they texted us a link to a website where we were supposed to upload photos of any damage. However, they did not tell us that they were texting us this link, or that we had to inspect the truck ourselves. Once we got home, when we saw the text message for the link, the link was expired. 6. We had to spend 45 minutes calling the 800 U-Haul number. Twice we waited on hold for 15 minutes, only to be told that it was not the correct number for customer service, even though we had been transferred to customer service. Apparently, calls to customer service were being bounced to an unrelated U-Haul department. On the third call, after 45 minutes, we connected with a U-Haul person who sent us a new link for the inspection. This link expired before we could get all the photos uploaded. Overall, it was an unsatisfactory experience dealing with the West Seattle U-Haul office and dealing with the national call line.

I picked up and returned my U-Haul on a Sunday and there were two people working but they were obviously overwhelmed with the amount of business, especially when 1 of them was out on the lot with the vehicles and the other working the desk. It made the wait time longer than it needed to be and they looked stressed.

We had to return after hours and the process was more difficult and confusing than it had to be - the phone app was unclear that the contact number had to be input. The wait to talk to someone to figure out how to return it was super long and so much more difficult than just dropping keys in a box. The location itself is great though.

I was overcharged for my rental. I didn’t sign up for the Safe Move insurance but I was charged for it on my bill anyway. The guys behind the counter didn’t know what they were doing and told me to just call the manager tomorrow and she will sort it out. Your employees need to be able to take care of your customers if they make a mistake like that!!

Pathetic effort. Disconnect between online uhaul scheduling system and location system. Uhaul sent confirmation for Tuesday appt, location had Wednesday. Per the staff, uhaul online scheduling inserted an 8:30 appt that would take 90 minutes, pushing my appt out of the way and moving my ECD from 11:00 to 1:00. When I arrived to pick up the car the uhaul billing system was down and I had to wait 40 minutes to pay. Upon paying I discovered that they had shorted me a cable strap I had paid for. This entailed another 10 minute delay while they searched for it. Poor effort by all: will never go back and will be proactively negative if asked about their performance by any of my neighbors here in West Seattle. Physical install went fine.

The vehicle was clean, however the gas gauge reading was not accurate, you said above half, it was below, and a low tire pressure warning was on the whole time. Also, a brief description of WHERE the fill for the gas tank would have been nice, took me several minutes to discover it. Would rent from you again, (this was a first time) however will be more informed next time.

The manager noticed I had fallen by the wayside 90% of the way through my transaction ( without prompting) and instructed the staff member to finish off my transaction and get the van out. This would not have happened before. I do wish you had more of the covered trailers at this location.

I called and they said they would credit my account and fix the order. They didn’t. And by the way, I agreed to return the truck to a different location to accommodate Uhaul.

When we tried to fill up the gas tank, the gas spilled through the pipe onto the ground. We spent $7 in gas that ended up on the ground. Trucks need to be better maintained.

The person who took my reservation did not listen very well. I explained I was renting the vehicle for a dump run. They asked questions unrelated to my needs. I was picking up the vehicle at the same time as the locations lunch was being delivered. One of the staff kept trying to interrupt the guy that was helping me about how to order “wings” the right way. I use this location pretty regularly. I’m never surprised by the lack of customer service offered. When Amazon starts offering rental vehicles, I’ll go there. At least then I won’t be treated second best to the “wings” in front of my face.

The staff were great during both pickup and drop-off. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful. The only thing I would improve upon is the van itself. I got an older model that was a little hard to handle on the road. I have used newer ones before that were much better.

Hard to actually call the store - calls get routed to national office and W. Seattle Store never contacted me even though national said they'd ask them to call me. Forgot to order my hitch, and didn't realize that til after I dropped off the car and walked home! Then didn't get back to me when hitch finally arrived 5 days later! Then did not reinstall plastic cover on bottom of car after removing it to install hitch. Fortunately, I checked this and had to tell them to reinstall it! Then they said that would take 10 minutes and it took over 30 minutes. Hopefully they did reliable work, but the process was terrible.

I had to repeatedly ask the young man that waited on me to speak up. When it was time to get my truck he pointed out to the truck in a general directing...I went out and got in the truck directly out front (where I usually pickup the vehicles I rent) and the key wouldn't work....it was the wrong truck...the one I rented was farthest away from the door out by the street entrance. And then I had to jockey the truck around in a u turn to get out of the lot...as they had other trucks blocking the way out........not a very happy camper this time........always in the past have been very please!!!

It was sad to see only one physical human being running the whole show at this location on a bust Saturday morning. There was literally ONE person manning the desk while having to help people outside. That poor guy was so overwhelmed and handled the customers who were waiting in line for over an hour just to pick up keys. Either you need to reconsider hiring a new manager at the West Seattle who is reliable and comes to work on time. The guy who was working solo mentioned his manager has been rolling into work around 10a lately...what is going on? That is not fair. The guy who was keeping this location afloat should be recognized and have an apology from the people who skipped out on him. It makes me sad to write such a sad, but necessary review.

Usually, this location is fabulous. I rent from them at least twice a month. This particular rental was different, I showed up at 7:30am for my reservation and no one was there until 8:15am (with stated hours on the door of 7am opening). I called their number with no answer. Call 1 800 G0HAUL and waited on hold for 20 minutes before someone answered and was able to help me.

I had a reservation for a van, I get there an no vans. I am given a truck that I am UNCOMFORTABLE driving (why I chose a van) and have to ASK for compensation for giving away my reservation. Then I am charged over as I got there “early” which was 20 mins as they advised me to. I get the truck and go 1 mile, the fuel gauge goes down a quarter tank. Also found a baggie usually carrying drugs in the back. I have to bring back the truck now because the fuel gauge is broken. When I returned the truck I was still charged for the rental fee which was supposed to be comped and had to wait again for it to be comped. This place stinks.

When I picked up the equipment the gas gauge did not match the contract. I pointed out the discrepancy and it was corrected., When I dropped of the truck, I had to wait 20 minutes before i was checked out., Then they charged me $18 for fuel by "mistake" . Now i have to return the store to "try" to get my $18 returned .

The front desk agent needed to enter my info at least twice to get the rental started. It seemed like there might have been an issue with the computer system, but it was hard to tell. The agent was really friendly, but clearly frustrated by having to enter the data in multiple times. I was a walk in rental, so that might have had something to do with it as well.

There was a new girl at the counter. The manager had left her and one other new guy (who was dealing with the vehicles) alone on a Sunday (which is a busy day). They clearly were overwhelmed and didn't know what to do. There was a line 15 people long and we had to wait for over an hour for assistance. Even then it was chaos. It was very frustrating. Especially since I had reserved my vehicle in advance and done the online check in. I expected it to be a quick in and out.

Have the reserved equipment available at the time reserved. Also it would help if the second truck after the first was unavailable at the reservation time had a working battery. Beyond that, giving our the right key and assigning the right car with the paperwork so that the use and return can be smooth would be good.

Your staff is fantastic and they keep everything moving quickly. My only suggestion would be to not leave the trucks idling when people check them back in...I always donate to planting additional trees when I rent trucks from you, but would love to not have idling trucks out front as the fumes are pretty rough. Off my soapbox, thanks ;)

This place on 35 is excellent and the staff are very helpful. The place on Juneau street is not si- I had booked with him but could not get the van. I was put off my schedule and had to look for another place. I'm so glad the 35th street folks took care of me right away.

The location was not busy and there were at least 6 staff working in various roles. Yet it was very hard to get service, I waited 10 minutes for a receipt. It was not clear to me if I’d been checked out and the staff were not particularly friendly except the guy who checked me in initially. This was also not the closest drop off location to my new home but the national service hotline could not locate the best location so we picked the “close-ish” one.

The woman at the counter refused to honor the POSTED price on some shrink wrap, saying the "sign was wrong". It was a $2 difference, and ON PRINCIPLE, she should have charged me what the price tag said. This is VERY POOR customer service. It's not like it was a $20 difference! She was rude about it too.

I rented a truck with the app and when I arrived to pick it up. The location I chose said they don’t carry 26’ trucks. Then they tried to tell me I had to drive 8 miles to another location. That’s not possible in Seattle during morning commute. It would have taken hours off my already delayed start to my day. I was extremely disappointed.

Maybe it was my fault by not researching more closely but the $19.95 a day for a pick-up got me in the door. It was actually close to $60 when all was tallied up. I didn't know that it was over $1.00 a mile. Most of the charge was taken up by what I considered short trips from West Seattle to a storage spot in the Rainier Brewery. I could only conclude that it would be $20-ish if I just never left your lot.

My experience at this store was frustrating to say the least. It took over 75 minutes to get my trailer plus the person helping me took a cigar break then fell asleep at the computer. I have never had such a bad experience before. I had to get the supervisor involved. The employee also argued and insulted me. Suggest uhaul seriously consider the value of using this store. I’ve never been treated so bad before. The supervisor even acknowledged the poor attitude of the employees. Suggest corrective action as necessary.

My reservation was for a 10 X 10 unit and when I arrived with a truck load of my things, I was told at the service desk that all that was left was 2 @ 5 X 10 units. This limits my storage space.Bummer
