I had nothing, but issues with this store and company. First I was supposed to pick up a truck in the town I was moving from. 24 hours before I moved they didn't have it so I had to drive 80 miles to get one. I got to the store at 8 am like I was told only to find out the truck wasn't there. Came back when truck was returned and store 82 was rude and acted like I was an inconvenience or a burden. I was promised a discount for my inconvenience and the manager Janet was complaining and acting very unprofessional about the whole ordeal. I'd strongly suggest sending this whole store to proper customer service training because it's not practiced at this store. I will never be using uhaul again.Troy M.

I scheduled a truck for pickup in Iowa City at 9:30 in the morning on July 23rd. The plan was for me to take the day off work and get my furniture moved to a storage unit in Cedar Rapids with plenty of time to avoid panicking, hurrying, and possibly furniture breakage due to my anxiety. I received no call from customer service confirming my time and date by the 17th of July, but neither did I receive any information denying my reservation, so I assumed everything was going alright. It was only at 8:10 in the morning of my moving date that I received a call informing me that my pickup would be IN CEDAR RAPIDS at 7 IN THE EVENING, and that my equipment would need to be returned at 4:30 THAT SATURDAY MORNING. I was crying, my anxiety skyrocketed: I would have to move my materials at night, drive an unfamiliar vehicle in the dark, and to top it all off, I had a very limited amount of time to throw things into the truck and speed off to Cedar Rapids since my storage facility closed at 10 p.m. and opened at 6 a.m. Meaning I only had three hours to drive down, grab my stuff, and bring it back. It was only me and my friend moving my items, and we had to leave things behind in order to get the bigger items onto the truck and into the unit in time. I have never had my time and mental health treated so poorly by a company in my life. After this experience, I would rather pay a moving company hundreds of dollars rather than use U-Haul ever again, and this is coming from someone with a limited amount of income. If I had received any sort of notification of the change in times before the moving day, my stress and my friend's stress could have been avoided altogether. If I could give 0 stars, I would.Kate S.

I called the facility with a question and the person I spoke with was rather rude and unhelpful, even right off the bat upon answering the phone. After arguing with me for several minutes, the employee was able to solve the issue I had called about in 10 seconds which made the rest of the call feel like a waste of time. The unit that was made available for me was very dirty and chalky on the ground. It looked like cement dust or flour and it was everywhere. I picked up the rental truck on Sunday morning after answering the large number of questions required online. The store was very busy with 3 young ladies trying to keep up. The ladies were conversing amongst each other about how overbooked they were while 4 -5 customers were waiting in line. When it was my turn to approach the counter the young lady that waited on me didn't seem to be feeling very well, for whatever reason. At one point she paused and I thought she may vomit on the counter. The store is brand new, well appointed and nice. The equipment was average and the staff was poor.SCOTT K.
We had a very poor experience overall- took over an hour to check-in and get our truck. They seemed to be short-staffed and poorly prepped for the day, we ultimately had a number of awkward interactions with staff. The truck was in poor condition and it took over an hour to also drop off so we could ensure we included all issues with our truck as to not be charged more later. Also, less stickers and overly complicated directions for everything- it just creates confusion. People need these services and are willing to pay for them but our experience was so much more stressful than it needed to be and not worth what we paid.Leah J.
The rental experience was awful from start to finish. We had arranged a rental of a 20 ft truck out of Monticello IA for 8:30am July 25th. This rental did not happen and we were directed to go to the SW side of Cedar Rapids IA to pick up a truck. We were then told that the truck would need to be returned to the same location and that we would be charged mileage as well for both ways. This should not have happened. It was U-Hauls mistake. It not only delayed our move by several hours, we had to pay more than we should have and we had people waiting to help us with a move that should have occurred 3 hrs earlier. Some things are out of the control of the employees but their customer service was lackluster for the most part amidst the long waits which you could read on most of the faces in the room. I was contacted that my reserved equipment was "not available" at my original destination and that I would be required to pick the equipment up at location approximately 20 miles away. Also not very clear, in fact nonexistent instructions on how to open the loading dock doors without setting the alarms off. Or do they go off regardless? I wouldn't know. No signs or instructions. The experience with U-Haul has been very frustrating since 06-08-21. The promise of 2 uboxes for west craig in North Las Vegas was not delivered, had to go to wharehouse to load them. I made a reservation ahead and went to pick up truck 7/3. They did not have a truck for us. I called EVERY rental truck business in Cedar Rapisa/Iowa City, nothing. I was charged for three days of rental, but I only rented the trailer for 40 hrs, which is clearly less than 48 hrs. The staff was extremely rude and unhelpful especially the on duty manager. I have used U-Haul a lot during my nine years in the Navy. I will not be recommending this location to anyone else. Very disappointed after have two very excellent experiences renting from them over the past couple of months. Definitely not professional, courteous, or helpful in any way, shape, or form. It is logged as being checked in at 2:19 pm on 6/27, but I have pictures of the contact and the time being at 11:11 pm on 6/26. So clearly, dishonest as well. That is not how you run a business and I will be reporting this to the BBB as well.DAVID H.

We were disappointed in Uhaul that we rented equipment and was called and said it was not available, had to drive north, and the location told us the air was out, but there were no 26ft trucks within 500 miles so we were limited on options and had to take that truck. Update your online reservations, we reserved a storage unit moving from state to state and when we got to the storage units to check in they didn't have it the unit available. They couldn't extend the truck we also paid for and we unfortunately had to get a unit somewhere else 2 minutes before they closed while the manager at uhaul couldn't do anything for us. This was a great way to start our fresh move to Iowa. Please don't allow people to reserve things ahead of time online if you can't promise that we'll have what we paid for.Elisha B.

This location had a forklift issue, and the delivery was delayed for 8 hours. This seems to be a common issue at all UHaul locations, as I encountered the very same issue in Cedar Rapids Iowa which caused a delay of 7 hours.Chuck B.

The web reservation worked really well and the local store was easy to work with to get in and out quickly. MerciCARY V.
It took over half an hour to get set up, despite already having a reservation. (That's half an hour at the counter, not in line - I wouldn't blame a long line on employees.) Staff took an extremely long time to enter my information, and in some cases I had to spell my name or street address up to four times. For example, when I gave them the name "Margie" and spelled it for them, they spelled it "marde". I then respelled it, and they spelled it "marde" again. I had to spell it twice more before they spelled it correctly. Staff failed to apply my month of free storage from my reservation, and I had to point it out and then they had to back up and do it again. Staff told me I was using the same phone number twice, when I was in fact using two different phone numbers that simply had some digits in common - I have no idea why they couldn't tell two different phone numbers apart, but I had to argue with them for over a minute before they would acknowledge that two distinct phone numbers were not in fact the same phone number. Staff assigned me to the unit in the furthest back of the facility, even though there appeared to be plenty of units available closer to the loading area. (This one could be on the system, or maybe none of those units were the right size. I would normally give them the benefit of the doubt here, were it not for everything else that went wrong.) Staff did not explain the layout of the facility, and pointed me towards the wrong loading area. Staff did not explain how the alarm system worked, or where I was supposed to swipe my access card. I had to provide two street addresses and three phone numbers, and the staff would not explain why. Overall this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any business, and if anyone I know ever needs storage I will be strongly recommending that they go anywhere but here.Gabriel L. | Premières impressions

We rented after the derecho destroyed my office in the ice arena. I had a lot of equipment that needed housing and the manager bent over backwards to help me and my staff. We were there for hours at a time, sorting and organizing, and she checked on me constantly, helping with brooms, carts, etc as I needed. This facility "lost" my reservation when I arrived, a reservation that I made 3 months in advance. The reason for losing it was that other customers bought them up - that means that a reservation doesn't mean anything at UHUAL. very little help when I had a question or request, most of the conversations ended with statements like "I don't know". I move very frequently and I constantly have issues with UHUAL, but this facility, their staff, and their lack of responsibility over my possessions has pushed me to NEVER use UHUAL again.
