I had very slow service with an employee who was indifferent to me being in the store. Other employees seemed sharp and on top of things. The person helping me not so much. When I received the truck it had less than 1/2 tank of gas. It was closer to 3/8 of a tank. There was also about a 12" crack in the windshield. I firmly believe that I was given the worst truck because it was a one way trip and they wanted to make that truck another store's problem. I was not impressed.

I would not recommend renting a U-box from this location. They shipped my box before we were finished loading it. We had to throw away my mattress and bed frame. Furthermore, the management at this location refused to accept any responsibility for their lack of communication and did not offer any kind of reimbursement.

All the moving items I had requested weren't available and I wasn't ever notified. I didn't find out until I went to pick up my truck using U Haul Truck Share 24/7 and it was missing everything I had reserved (except for the truck). So I needed to wait for the store to open, then in line to see a representative where they rudely weren't able to solve my issue.

Its a uHaul and its in a good location so that was nice. The truck we got was covered in bird poop and getting the truck took a bit longer then expected known that I had already made the reservation.

The vehicle damage process is extremely inefficient and painful for the customer, it's also very misleading. U-Haul did not properly have any of the damage already in the system, requiring an extra 15 min of my paid time to take photos and use your wonky mobile app to make comments, which limited me to the number of actual photos - there was even more damage than I was able to report. I would not use U-Haul again for this reason.

The gentleman that help me take the trailer off my truck was helpful. I did have to go find someone to tell me where to leave the trailer. No thanks, for using your product or equipment. Not necessary, but would have been nice. We did spend $400 on a trailer rental.

The rental price was good and the location was great. The customer service at check in could have been friendlier. The cab in the van could have been cleaner, but it got the job done. Drop off and check out was quick and painless. Will probably be back not because of the experience, but because of the convenient location and the price.

This UHaul is near a number of homeless camps and illegally parked campers, which means that they regularly experience gas siphoning from vehicles. When I picked up my rental cargo van, the fuel reading on my contract showed just over 1/4 of a tank of gas. There was no warning/reminder to double check that the actual fuel level matched the reading on my contract, which would have been extremely helpful since it's a KNOWN problem to the staff at that location. Instead, I did not notice the discrepancy until refueling (I drove 8 miles total) and ended up having to pick up the ~$25 cost of siphoned gas prior to return. I very much regret not double checking, but also feel that the staff at the Ballard UHaul should put in an extra effort to remind customers to do so since they're aware of the issue. Upon returning the van and alerting the rep of the problem, he nonchalantly explained why that was (gas siphoning, unlocked fuel tanks) and blamed me for not checking before accepting the vehicle.

Box was late, uhaul in WA seems incredibly disorganized. They called me the morning of my move to say I was not going to be able to access the box that day, which was incredibly unhelpful for scheduling. I ad to ping pong over the phone throughout the day to finally get the box to the right location, and even then, it was several hours late. I should have received a much larger refund. Uhaul seems to have no respect for customer time. i am incredibly unlikely to use again unless i am compensated for more. I have already warned my friends against using Upods for their upcoming moves.

Reserved an 18.95 trailer, took 45 minutes for them to check me out because the clerk didn’t pull up my reservation. He added on the 8.00 insurance after I said no at least 5 times. Looked at my online bankin and was charged 59.00. Trying to call but there is no option to speak with anyone. The trailer was clean and the hook up went quickly but very disappointed to be over charged by so much. I wanted the $8 insurance taken off when I was paying but the clerk said it was going to take him a long time to process taking it off. After 45 wasted minutes just for him to check me out I didn’t want to spend more time because my time is worth more than the $8. So I signed a receipt for 29 charged 59

In my confirmation email, it listed the address for the Interbay U-Haul so we initially went there to pick up our vehicle. It was extremely busy and only one gentleman working. He seemed stressed and exhausted. Then a lady came in and didn’t seem to help much. Our reservation wasn’t working because we actually needed to go to the Ballard location. They were both unapologetic and just told us to go to the other location without an explanation. The location listed above was much more helpful although when we went to drop off the vehicle all paths were blocked by other vehicles so my husband had to drive it through the wrong entrance and leave it parked where he could find space. When he explained that to the lady she seemed irritated and told him she would have to move it immediately because that’s not the correct spot which we understood but there were other cars blocking where we should have parked it!

The first truck that was rented to us had no gas tank. We went back and got another truck. When I went to return the truck the office was closed and locked during business hours requiring me to go through the extensive online return process. I checked the box indicating I didn’t agree with my charges since I was charged insurance and I specifically asked not to have any. No one contacted me, just charged my card the full amount which was twice what I was expecting to pay.

Customer Service was lackluster at best. Very slow and incorrect. After calling to get the bill revised for an incorrect charge, I was told a manager would call back. I went to the location to solve it, because the chances of this matter being handled promptly were slim. The manager was very helpful and accommodating.

The ethnic indian lady at the desk was not customer friendly at all, my truck was not ready, i had to go pull it out of extremely cramped parking. and I had to load all the extra rented equipment onto the truck myself. All while the lady could not possibly show that she cared less. Horrible service, the staff at the interbay location which i had initially scheduled for is 1000 times better, a shame UHAUL switched me to this location. Do not rent from this ballard location.

We have rented Uhaul trucks and vans from this location a number of times and have had consistently good service. The only 2 less than favorable aspects were when I called to check on availability for trucks the woman could not answer my question and was reluctant to assist me over the phone, instead directing me to their website. The reason I called was because I didn't have access to the internet at the time...and, many people still don't or have spotty coverage with wi-fi...something to consider. Also, minor thing...the gas tank was a 1/4 full. We ended up filling it up and only ended up using a few gallons to get to our destination...so UHaul got the better end of the deal. Overall though, it was a good experience considering it was moving day...not a lot of fun for anyone.

On 5/26 at 6:43 pm I reserved a truck and specified a pick up time of 9 am, which your website confirmed. Then on 5/27 at 7 am I get a call from someone to let me know they changed my reservation to 12:30 pm. The person I spoke with said that if I didn't like that time I could change my reservation to a different location over 10 miles away or cancel my reservation. I asked the person if they would cover the cost for the difference in miles and she told me per the terms and conditions they don't have to and can change my reservation at any time. I mentioned that your website confirmed my time and that this was not acceptable and she stated that this has been on your website for several years now. I understand that sometimes things happen, but I do not appreciate this sort of service for two reasons... 1. Your website should not have allowed me to pick a time when the truck was not available. 2. You neglected to offer good customer service and offer some sort of compensation in either discounting the extra miles or reducing my rental fee. I had specific plans that required the use of the truck starting at 9 am and having you change my reservation prevented me from doing the things I needed to do yesterday. In your survey you ask if I would recommend this location to a friend. Yes, I would recommend that location because they are friendly and helpful. What your survey is lacking is would I recommend U-Haul to a friend that that answer would be no!

The "gentleman" behind the counter reeked of body odor so strong it was noticeable from across the counter, easily three feet away. He also had extremely long fingernails that were full of black dirt and/or grease. Aside from his appearance, he also didn't greet me but simply said "picking up?" when I came in. After I checked in he said "the vehicle takes unleaded only," asked me about purchasing a bunch of moving products I didn't need, and then told me he was going to pull the truck around for me and walked from around the counter and out the door without so much as a glance in my direction. He pulled the truck forward, exited with the keys in and the truck running with the door open in the rain, said "you're all set" and walked back into the office. At no point was I allowed to examine the vehicle or ask any questions about it. I suppose if I did the same thing possibly dozens of times a day I wouldn't be overly enthusiastic but if a customer comes in after having done all of the reservation and payment online, cutting my work probably in half, I wouldn't be so generally disagreeable since I'm getting paid the same regardless. Seriously though, I'm glad his keyboard and mouse has some sort of green plastic sheeting (not a true keyboard cover, mind you; literally a small sheet of green cellophane loosely draped over them) because his nails were disgusting. Aside from that, the vehicle clearly needed the windshield and windows washed as it was quite difficult to see through all the hard-water spots on the window especially during all the rain; inside was dusty and there was visible dirt all over the floorboards but it didn't smell and there was no damage to the interior. Overall I'm glad I'll never have to come back to this location.

Our truck was supposed to be equipped with a hand truck and packing blankets. When we got home we found they were not in the truck. By the time I called, the store was closed. The gentleman I spoke to said he would put a note on my account that those things were not in the truck. He did not, apparently as it didn't show up when I was in Spokane dropping it off.

There were a lot of challenges with UHaul throughout my shipping process: horrible communication, inaccuracies, two days late, sent to wrong location, and lack of follow through. The branch manager at this location did a stellar job trying to mitigate a bad situation that he was left to resolve. Kudos. I would not recommend UHaul overall but if you have to use it, be prepared to spend significant time managing your shipping because they don’t.

When I picked up the truck customer service was good. After I returned, I got an invoice with a $25 cleaning fee because I had left some packaging behind. When I called to ask about it the person on the phone said they didn’t mean to charge me that much (good thing I called). When I pressed to say that I notified the associate who received the truck that I had pointed out that there was a piece of packaging still in the truck and the CS associate failed to point out there would be a cleaning charge, it became clear that customer service is not a core tenet of this company. Uhaul’s C-suite is due for some cultural change.

Returned the truck after hours so there was no attendant to check back in with. It was a bit disconcerting to find the next morning that I had been charged $70.00 for for "fuel" & "fueling service" despite the fact that I had only driven the truck a total of 9 miles and had put in 2 gallons of fuel. That being said...once I pointed out the "mistake" staff was quick to reverse those charges.

I reserved through the app. When I went to pick up, I was told that my reservation had been cancelled because I arrived over an hour after I reserved it. Nowhere on the app or in the confirmation email I received did it say anything about an hour window. This is important information to give customers who may not know exactly when they can arrive!

I had to go personally to the renting place and show them their mistakes in billing, wasting my time and gas and I do not want to think that they were wrong with me because of my Latino status, otherwise U-Haul would be abusing and scamming users who rely on the seriousness of this company.

Deranged person in the parking lot shouting profanities at us, the drop off location was too full of other customers to even let us in the parking lot so we had to go around the block several times near the sketchy people. I got a text message from uhaul with the wrong address and wrong drop off date. We weren't told about the overcharge for gas until we had already left. We drove a total of 20 miles which should not have used 4 gallons of gas.

Sabrina Howell is a customer service nightmare. Her attitude is extremely poor. Any small question I asked about my reservation seemed like a huge hassle and inconvenience to her. She also seemed totally lost and unsure how to answer my very basic questions. She at first told me that she couldn't look up my rental history by phone number - only name (which she then misspelled). Came to pick up truck and she was singing along to rap songs at the counter (curse words and all!) with a huge line of customers. This woman's job skills are a joke.

Your online "equipment return" experience was too cumbersome and frankly quite intrusive. Asking to access and upload my location from my phone and access to all my pictures was far too much of a privacy violation. Please be less intrusive. It should be sufficient to give you a statement of the mileage, fuel gauge, and location. The onus should be on uHAUL to take and provide pictures if the information is different from the customer's stated claims.

In order of severity: 1) I was billed for 11 gallons of gas to go 22 miles, with no idling or other scenarios that would burn gas like that! This *doubled* my bill. The odometer worked fine, but something must have been out of whack with the gas gauge; the van ran fine no indications of obstructions or leaks. 1a) On return, I mentioned the suspicious gas reading. The employee dismissed my concern and just said vans burned more gas than you might expect. 1b) I replied to the emailed receipt with this concern to the indicated email address, go not response. 2) Despite having a reservation, the line for picking up the van took about 25 minutes. There were about 4 other pickups ahead of me, all with reservations (I think) but only 1 person manning the counter. 3) The van was in good shape (not including the gas gauge), but could have benefited from an extra 90 seconds of shop-vac'ing the cargo area.

Truck was buried behind other trucks. Had to say "couldn't find" multiple times to get a truck that wasn't boxed in. I asked someone who was washing trucks what to do and they just cut me off and said "talk to someone inside". Kind of defeats the point of doing the self-service when I had to go in both before and after. If you want people to use the app for self-service, at least give a nominal discount (like $5) since it didn't really save me any time but saves you guys labor.

The movers I hired were able to get my UBox at the scheduled pick-up time from UHaul without any explicit approval from me. This is extremely unsecure. Apart from this, things were great!
