The staff, Mike Elder, in particular, were very nice and pleasant to work with. However, I made a 7:30am appointment, and my car didn't make it onto the lift until 10:15am. From there, it was done by 10:40am, but I consequently was late for work, had to reorganize my day and schedule and was unnecessarily inconvenienced by Uhaul's inability to meet its time commitments. Again, the actual experience when they actually began installing the wiring harness was excellent. Extremely nice and apologetic people, but it started 3 hours later than promised. I'd like to know what Uhaul can do to make up for my wasted time. Thank you, Matt Glatzel

I would recommend only due to convenient location. Otherwise, I feel sorry for the staff. When I picked up the van, there was only Manuel (spelling?) at the computer helping check people in and out. There was also a manager there, who came out of his office only because I had a question about why I was being charged $79 instead of $19.95 (which wasn't explained to me when I made the reservation). Then, when I returned the van, Manuel was the only person there at 10am, which was a busy time. There were 3 customers trying to check in and someone commented that it's too bad there isn't more staff to help him. Apparently someone was supposed to be there also starting at 7am but they didn't show up. Manuel was very courteous and efficient in spite of the staffing challenges. One of the other people waiting said that when they picked up the day before, the staff was dropping the "f" bomb in regular conversation. Like I said, the location of the store is very convenient and the van I had was clean/ready to go. Unfortunately, there's only 1 person you can count on to assist you.

Nothing to improve upon, but I feel it is necessary to comment on how AMAZING Wanda was at the Nicollet Ave location in South Minneapolis. She was helping 3 people at a time while still answering phones in order to get everyone going on their moving / travel while maintaining a big smile and making customers laugh. I wish I had employees working for me that worked as hard and well as her!!

Brakes on the trailer did not operate, called in for service and the service tech that arrived stated it was only because of the hitch height as I had a 2" drop receiver so we turned it over which made the trailer mostly level and "should' take care of the issue according to the service tech who then departed. Once I got back on the highway it was noticeable that the brakes were not in fact working as the surge actuator would slam forward on it's slide unless I was braking with the truck very gently. I now have brake pulsation on my truck due to this as my truck was doing all the braking for both track and loaded car trailer. Additionally, there were two (2) LED marker lights that were inoperative and two of the tires on the trailer were more that five (5) lbs low on air pressure.

I was scheduled to do a mobile pick up at 6:00am. I arrived at the location and received an error message that said I needed to wait until the store opened at 9:00am. When I arrived at 9:00am, I found out the store opened early and there was a massive line. I had to wait in line for an 1.5 hours and didn't get my truck until 10:30am. I then had less than 2 hours to move out of my apartment due to a 12:00 end of my lease. I didn't have time to do certain basic cleaning because I wasn't able to move out all of my stuff in time due to Uhaul's 4.5 hour delay and I expect to be charged over $200 in cleaning expenses from my landlord. I was promised a refund by the employee who helped check me out since the error was 100% due to Uhaul's mistake. Please refund at least $200 to cover the cleaning expenses that indirectly occurred due the massive delay in checking out my truck.

The signs for entering and exiting the lot were confusing because the arrow for equipment drop off pointed away from where I was supposed to turn in. Personnel were very helpful and made drop off easy once I figured out what to do.

The 20' truck I reserved and paid for wasn't available. I waited for over an hour with movers standing on my driveway waiting for me. They ended up giving me a 15' truck instead which made us have to take two trips. Not only did I have to pay an extra $200 for my movers, they charged me for the extra gas mileage as well.

The team could not figure it out after 30 minutes and had to charge my card and issue a refund. It is unknown if this happened as there has not been any communication to this point.

The location was extremely busy with only two people checking customers out. If we hadn't gotten there early (we were second in line), it would have most likely taken us an hour to get our truck. I was also told over the phone that this locaiton did not have mobile pick up, when it actually did. More people need to be hired and pick up options need to be better communicated.

They're short staffed, unorganized, and not synced with the website. I got a reservation through the Web but it apparently did not process so when I showed up, I was informed it was canceled. The next day I show up after double-confirming and they cannot find the key. After 10 minutes of searching, they give me another truck but give me the wrong key. I inform them and they find the right key. Finally, the drop off was terrible with the app. I spent so long on it but the app is full of bugs. Keeps dropping the connection, even though I have 5GLTE. I was unable to upload pictures despite numerous attempts. So I gave up. Moving stuff is so already stressful. I wish Uhaul didn't make it harder....

I don't have a lot of experience with truck rental, but compared to car rentals U-Haul on line reservations has a lot of improvement opportunities. I could not modify my reservation to a different location and vehicle type. I could not find a way to cancel the reservation so I could start over (note that I inadvertently clicked express check-in when trying to click the link to the website in my email). It took a long time to get a customer service person. He was helpful but could not manage to make it a 24hr rental. The system reported to me that I had a 9 hr rental when I checked my account but when I arrived to pick up the van, it was only listing the reservation as 4hr. Fortunately it was fixed at the counter.

The wait was 45 min to turn in the vehicle I rented. The wait to "reserve" the vehicle via tele was 25 min long. The process to try to "reserve" a vehicle via the website was confusing and not user friendly and didn't work for me. The attitude of the workers at the 36th/Nicollet location was chilly - and this due to not having enough staff for the customers waiting in line. I will probably rent from the same location again, because it's the closest to me, but it won't be a pleasant experience.

I was telling my husband how impressed I was with the on-line booking and information given. I booked it 2 weeks prior to pick up date, and did the express check when I received the reminder. I was picking up a 10x12 trailer. When I arrived at 9:30 there were 20 people in line and only 2 people working on the last day of the month 6/30 which is propbably the busiest day. We heard some people overslept. Because we stood in line for 1.5 (9:36 to 11:15am) we found out the manager eventually arrived. There were 2 trailers on the lot, one of them the employee said someone just "dropped off". Here's the thing, the website states I can go to Uhaul.com and process my own pick up. I tried that while waiting in line, but my mobile app and later found out even the on line version didn't have those options? Even dropping it off in Ames IA I had to wait in line for someone to check us out, I couldn't just drop it off. If it's not available or not available specifically for trailers, please change the website and the hold music. It would have been nice to have a kiosk where I could process my express check in. I don't even know why you have "Express" check in. Even checking in with someone took forever. Please also train the manager at the Minneapolis Nicollet Store to schedule more people on busier days. It was really bad.

My U-Haul battery died in the middle of my rental, and the management knowingly rented it to me even though it had been experiencing battery issues. They still charged me a gas fee when I didn’t put gas in, even though the truck would have died at the gas station. I was very disappointed with how the employees at the store handled the situation over the phone.

We decided to rent a cargo van at last minute, but still 6 days before the end of the month. This is a VERY busy location and again since it wasn’t yet the end of the month they happened to have seven. Jamie, behind the counter was very courteous and let us know if we needed it for two days it probably wouldn’t be a problem. I do recommend this location, but again super busy spot. Minneapolis personnel were professional and helpful. My review is related to Uhaul’s overall service. I am rarely disappointed with service. I’m easy-going and flexible, but I will avoid Uhaul in the future. My reserved rental equipment (truck and trailer) were located 40+ miles from each other, and Uhaul's customer service line offered no attempt to actually help me. What’s the point of reserving equipment if Uhaul does not provide sufficient staffing to get you what you need? I am frustrated, will look elsewhere next time, and will encourage others to do the same.

The place was busy, so there was a small wait time, but truthfully it was a customer at fault, I watched the man at the desk deal with some odd questions, he handled them patiently and calmly, very professional. When I got to him, it was quick and easy. I rented a trailer, the person helping me outside was fantastic, he was knowledgeable and quick.. Great price too. Overall very good experience. Parking lot too small.

I was supposed to use my smartphone to pick up the keys, but the location did not prepare, so when I arrived, there was no information for me to access keys from a dropbox. I waited an hour for the location to open, and the staff was unapologetic and would not take any responsibility. Service was very disappointing.

The customer service provided by the woman wearing a shirt with "owner" on it was stale, cold a d unwelcoming. She complained about another customer and made another employee handle a challenging customer. Unprofessional and disappointing service.

I waited 50 minutes in line to be processed for checkout for my reserved vehicle. 2 people were behind counter, with about 10 people in line. Only one time was there an apology for the wait. Based on the way things were handled this appeared to be common. Vehicle cleaner was smoking while supposedly cleaning vehicles, though the interior of my truck was dirty. Loud rap music was blaring with no regard to customer comfort. I'd drive 10 miles to avoid this experience, my time is more valuable than how I was treated, one of the worst customer experiences I have had in awhile.

I had an unfortunate experience with this location that was largely due to an internet reservation. I had selected this location to pick up a UBox and only found out when I arrived the day of the reservation that this location does not store UBoxes and I would have to go to an alternative location 25 mins away. The employee I worked with was helpful to getting a van rented so that I could complete my move, however he was the lone employee helping customers and there were at least 4 people waiting while he attempted to help 2 customers at once. This lead to a long wait time for myself and everyone else waiting. It also seemed that most employees are not familiar with UBox rentals as at both locations I went to and navigating the reservation was difficult for them.

The website was horrible. I reserved a van online only to arrive and learn that there was no van available. Over the phone I was told that they could not help me find any available replacement vehicle. I finally reserved a truck only after an extremely terrible user experience with your website and an hour of frustration. After using the truck, there was no place humanly possible to park the vehicle, the website was once again horrible, and my phone died before I was able to check out. I am not interested in using uhaul again which is unfortunate because I have two upcoming moves. Luckily my continuing rage at how horrible the experience was will make the higher prices at uhaul's competitors palatable.

Hello, This has been the second time that I have reserved a truck through UHAUL, Checked in via the confirmation link the day of pick up, and my crew arrives to pick up the truck and the location says that they cannot find the reservation. The main desk at this location said "I cannot find your reservation, they should not be booking the trucks at my location for in town use on the weekends because I loose moneyon this" We eventually CONVINCED the guy at the desk to rent us the turck we had orginally reserved through UHAUL, but almost didnt get a truck needed for our companies event that day. This would have cost us $1,000s of dollars as it did the first time it happened.

I completed 100% of the reservation online a couple of days prior to my pick-up time. I arrived 10 minutes early and nothing I had entered into my UHaul account, other than the reservation itself, went through and I had to spend 30 minutes re-doing the work. Moreover, their computers were down and it took the agent several attempts to enter the information. Also, my screen on my laptop from my reservation said I would owe $56, but the total came to $100 (plus gas) even though nothing more was ordered, mileage wasn't changed, etc. A total scam.

Rented 2 times same week, Monday and Friday. Monday’s truck gas gauge didn’t work, employee new it didn’t work but sent out any way and swore it was full. I filled up with what I knew was correct amount. Rented truck on Friday of same week and got the same truck, gauge worked for first 5 miles than dropped to empty and said I needed gas, was going to return to uhaul but came back on. Again I filled the truck with what I knew was correct gallons. When checking vehicle back in the attendant didn’t believe me, than it happened to him while he was checking me out. Is there away that they can keep my info, I rent a lot and it’s always like starting over with info?

I reserved equipment that I never received. When dropping off, I informed the person checking me in and they said they'd remove the charges, but they did not. In fact, Uhaul appears to be double charging me with each charge being more than what I was quoted by the person checking in my vehicle.

Keep better records of damage from previous renters. My girlfriends card was charged almost $1000.00 for damage we didn’t do to the vehicle. On top of that the mileage wasn’t recorded properly. Now I’m waiting on the manager to check the tapes. All of her savings is tied up by u haul. This will be my last rental with u haul.

The only thing I think could be improved is establishing a clearer timeline of when customers schedule the installation and when the parts are expected to come in. For example, if the parts need to be ordered then the online scheduling calendar should only allow customers to select dates when the parts would for sure be in. Just an idea!

This comment has absolutely nothing to do with the location or staff (the staff was great!). The online reservation system must be improved! This was one of the most frustrating online systems I have ever encountered! The process to reserve a truck was needlessly complex and the pickup site and time were not honored when I received text notification of the reservation. Fortunately, the staff at the location (not near the location I requested) was willing to work with me to find resolution for the pickup time. I reserved pickup at 9 AM and received a text indicating pickup at 3 PM. This is absolutely unacceptable.

i would like to thank the whole u-haul team at minneapolis 35th and nicollet but specially michael i belive he is the general manager there and he was doing all the work by his self at 7am and had a line up to the door answering phones checking people out and helping me with my rental all at once he needs more help from his higher up this man is amazing at what he does but the stress that he goes thru is unnecessary ALSO it was extremely frustrating that supposedly someone from uhaul contact center called me to possibly cancel my rental but infact no one did so you guys need to work on your contact center actually calling and putting proper notes

The employee at the desk was overwhelmed by the very busy day. Would be nice to have more backup. The location was understaffed for how busy it was. The online check out process after hours was difficult to use - it couldn't find my location

I rented a truck for 19.95 plus 10.00 waver and was charged 82.00 with no explanation or indication of what the extra charges are for on my receipt, it was just debited from my account tho i only authorized a 40.00 debit! And i have no ability to contact a person to ask. I sat on the u-haul phone customer service line for an hour and no one picked up. I am forced to dispute the charge with my bank.

The only reason I gave this location a good review is because of one of your employees. I don't know his name, and excuse me for describing him this way-he's a short HIspanic male and he wears a hat...not a ball cap...a hat. When I walked in the general manager of this location and the HIspanic gentleman were both helping customers rent equipment. I was the third person waiting on line. After the general manager finished with his customer he went outside where he smoked a cigarette, (in full view of the waiting customers in the office), and talked with various people.outside. REMEMBER THERE WERE THREE PEOPLE WAITING IN LINE FOR SERVICE. In the meantime, the HIspanic man kept helping customers. When the general manager finally came back in....he went into the bathroom where you could here him ON A PERSONAL PHONE CALL. He stayed in the bathroom for approximately 15 minutes. All the while the Hispanic man KEPT ON WORKING. In the 25 minutes I waited, the Hispanic man helped 4 people (including me), while the general manger helped 1 (ONE)!!! Do what you want with this information, but I would certainly commend the HIspanic gentleman for his diligence and hard work. He is a great representative for your company!
