Unfortunately, I must report a less than ideal experience renting a trailer from this location. I completed the online check-in to supposedly save me time at the rental office. When I got to the office on University, there was one female employee behind the counter and one male employee in front of the counter. They were having a conversation which continued for several minutes as I stood there, waiting to be acknowledged. Once I was asked if I could be helped, the check-in process began. Female employee was distracted however by another employee who walked in with a bag of candy to share. Other employees came in – a conversation ensued, female employee was distracted to the point of not being able to focus on my check-in and I was left standing there while she joked and talked to the other workers. She tried to use an app on her phone to take a picture of my ID, but was not able to make it work as she was distracted by the conversation going on around her. At one point, a male employee stepped in, seeing my frustration, and completed the transaction on his phone. He told her she needed to pay attention because he didn’t want to hear more complaints from management, to which she replied “Then just don’t listen.” She then gave me my receipt (after having to re-do it as she added insurance when I told her not to) and told me to “go outside and somebody will be out there to help you.” Nobody outside acknowledged my presence either. I went to my vehicle to line it up with what I assumed to be my trailer and the male employee, who was in his car leaving the location, stopped and helped me get the trailer hooked up. He acknowledged the lack of attention in the office. The trailer was filthy with dirt and oil covering much of the deck. He swept it out and then connected it to my truck. If it hadn’t been for him, I don’t know how long it might have been for me to pick up the trailer. My return was no better. I arrived at the office at 7:05 AM on Monday, only to find another customer waiting outside to get a hitch installed. The office was closed with no employees anywhere onsite. At 7:20, a young gentlemen finally arrived. Again, there was no acknowledgement of my presence (or his lateness) other than a mumbled “Dropping off?” He then struggled to unhook the chains, asked if I put them on, then gave up and had me unhook it, which I did. He then said “You’re good to go.” So I did. The only positive comments I can make about this experience is the male employee's help upon pick-up and the trailer functioned well. I’m happy to speak to management about this. This experience does not lead me to recommend Uhaul for similar rental services.

They just need more employees because every time I go there, the wait time to get help 20+ minutes. The very last time I was there, I got charged on my debit card more than what was printed on my contract. Even though I emailed about the error, no one has even contacted me back!

Ordered a trailer at West 7 shop and was called and told they did not have one and had to go to this shop. Guess what? When I showed up they did not have one. The person that helped tried to give me a different trailer and thought i would not notice. When I point out it was wrong he said "what do you want me to do?" I asked about the guarantee, he typed up a new ticket, guess what? He did not give the credit. Unless you need the rental i would stay far away from this place.

I can say, that from now on I will only deal with actual uhaul locations and not these locations that are convenience stores where they also rent Uhauls. The location in St. Paul MN, on 1333 Timothy, was a really bad location. The man inside was completely lost with what to do with the truck I was returning. I just left and thankfully found the actual Uhaul store at 883 University.

I want to emphasize how professional and tremendously helpful Ricky Cassidy was to us. We weren’t sure when we might be able to return the van that day and he was very accommodating. In addition, we left an item in the van and the next day, Mr. Cassidy helped us retrieve it. He was at the same time answering questions from other co-workers, answering phone calls, and tending to walk-ins in a very quick yet professional manner. His easy going conversational style and attention to customer service was impeccable. Being in administration myself, I would be sure to hold on to this employee. He has a very keen sense for hard work, making decisions quickly and well, and a very pleasant people skills. Thank you.

I was told by the Richard the manager at the 883 University ave St Paul MN location that because of a little paint on the bed OF a pickup truck I rented that he would have to charge me for damages. I told him I had insurance so that should cover the damages correct ? He said Yes it would cover the damages BUT there is a $150.00 deductible. I went in the next day to get copies of my contract and my receipt and he had slammed 630.00 dollars in damages onto my AAA MC. He had never even told me that he was going to do this. he just went ahead and did it. After he had told me 3 times the day before that the insurance would cover it and it and there would be a $150.00 deductible charge to my AAA MC. I am disputing the charges with my AAA credit card because I consider this fraud on his part. Again Richard the Manager told me 3 separate times the day before on the day I returned my truck that my card would only get charged $150.00 I suspect he put the $630 in his pocket. and I am also filing a complaint with the MN Attorney Generals office on Monday. I am also contacting my lawyer. Bob Mcgin . I will not tolerate being deceived and lied to by anyone at U-Haul corp. I was a faithful customer before this happened. Never Again.

The location site changed the reservation. Twice. Made two threats to over charge us by $150. we needed to call customer service to override the changes. The staff was rude. exhibited bully behavior in person on pick up day. They then called 5 hours into our rental and again stated they were altering the rental agreement and we were being charged $150. They are rude, crass and do not have ANY customer service skills. They only plus was our drop off day and the young man who facilitated that transaction.

Everyone we dealt with at the St. Paul University location was AMAZING! They all had great attitudes in the face of many many customers and searing heat the day we came in. You have a VERY good team in staff over there.

I made a reservation for a 24 hour rental as advertised. I was unable to use the app to check in and when I inquired in the office they said I could only have the truck for 6 hours. I tried to shown them my reservation confirmation but after talking to the manager I still could only get the truck for 8 hours. I had made plans to get a lot of work accomplished and arranged for help to do it and now only was able to do a fraction of the work. While I was there in the office I heard them going through the same argument with other renters. This place is a scam, people have no other option because they show up to get their truck and can't find another truck on short notice so they pay full price for six hours. The manager was a very arrogant young guy, when I told him the website also said that the truck would be ready one hour prior to the reservation time he said he didn't have a truck yet. He lied because I watched as they finally moved the trucks out of the way one hour later, he just didn't feel like moving it earlier. I really think the advertising 24 hour rental for a certain price and then only letting you have the truck for 6 hours is false advertising and I am reporting them to the State Attorney General's office and the BBB.

Please please PLEASE hire an additional person at this location, every time I come in there's a line and the staff is always doing their best and are keeping it together like champions but I had to wait in line for 45 minutes because there was only one person checking folks in on the last day of the month! Get her some help! You know you'll be busy, she doesn't deserve to have a dozen cranky customers taking their stress out on her cause she's the only one there! (Also your website is glitchy AF and wouldn't let me check the truck back in)

When there are 2 lines for a busy day, have one line dedicated to pickups. I had scheduled movers to meet me at 10:00 am. My scheduled pickup at the location was 9:00 but the lines were so long I almost didn’t make it back in time to meet the movers. Movers are paid hourly. It could have cost me extra money had I been late. Pickups should be first priority. Not people scheduling to move on a different day, or people buying things from the store. The 6x12 trailer had a low weight tire that was almost flat by the time I was able to return it. I hadn’t noticed at pickup.

The pick-up process was very slow and did not seem well-organized. Took 1hr, 45 min standing in line with many others to pick up a reserved trailer. I had to park 2 blocks away for pickup because of customer's cars blocking access to trailers and trucks. It was very busy. Drop-off went very well.

This location was astoundingly understaffed. There were approximately 15 rentals waiting in line ahead of me and another 15 behind me. For the longest. There was only one clerk at the desk. A second arrived and the line began to move a little faster. There was only one attendant outside available to release the vehicle to a renter. The staff themselves were very gracious however understaffing only takes advantage of people willing to work hard.

It was absolute horrible my reservation was at 10:30 I got there at 10:25AM and I stood in line until 11:30 AM They call multiple peoples names who stood behind me in line 1st because they had reservations so did I. I get to the counter they tell me I have to have it back there no later than 2:00 PM by the time I got the truck back to the house it was time to bring it back ! I didn’t even get to use it I will never rent from U-HAUL AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

I was overcharged with the mileage. Also the gas was about half when o was given and there is no way I could tell at the gas station if I filled to the level needed so I put extra gas to make sure that I wasn’t below the level it was before the pick up. Which means I paid for the gas more than I should have paid due to gas level that was not full.

It was a mistake, but this is the 2nd time this has occurred. I received a call on Saturday, telling me that my pick up was late in being returned. I explained I had the truck until Sunday the 30th. I was in the middle of my household move. I was asked to go get my paperwork and call them back. I stopped what I was doing to find the paperwork. I was correct, as I had been before. I think the burden is on the staff to get their facts straight before calling the customer. This adds stress. And...this was the 2nd time this has hapoened to me with U Haul.

I had a reservation to pick up a trailer at 9:00 AM. I got to the U-Haul store around 8:55 and figured there would be a little bit of a wait since it was Saturday and the last weekend of the month. Opened the door to a line of about 15 people waiting... there was 1 person working the counter, this is no dog against that individual, they were doing the best they could with the situation. There was a second individual that was getting everyone’s equipment set up... 2 people working on possibly one of the busiest weekends of the month. I ended up waiting about an hour before being able to get what I reserved. While others were in line, the second employee informed people that if you had a reservation you were going to be able to get a truck but if you did not have a reservation, you were probably out of luck. As I got closer to the counter, I found out that there were suppose to be quite a few more people working, about 6 including a shift manager, the shift manager apparently decided not to show up to work and the solo employee behind the counter was able to call in a third person that wasn’t suppose to start until 2pm. When I finally got though the line, there was still a line practically out side the door of the store. The individuals that decided to show up for work were great and doing everything they could to try and keep things moving. But to only have 2 people working the last weekend of the month with the shift manager not showing up seems like perhaps a new shift manager needs to be hired. I’d recommend the guy working the counter he was apologetic and very polite. He was doing the best he could with the situation he was given.

The woman behind the counter was Rude. When i walked in she started to help me but every other minute she would play with her dog. Then then the phone rang and at first She told the customer she was helping me but then all of a sudden she stopped helping me and she answered the phone which I thought was kind of weird then when I finally did give my van she told me I couldn't park my car in the parking lot I had to park at way down on a side street which was Alaska's Last time I parked in the parking lot and then she forgot to get my appliance dolly I sat in the van for like 10 minutes so I had to go get it myself she was just rude

The person helping me didn't have half my profile even though I entered all the information online and successfully submitted my reservation. When expressing I was late (They took so long I didn't end up getting the truck until 45 minutes after my reservation time) and needed things to move along more quickly, the person helping me asked if I had a moving crew, and when I said no, he said "well then, you're not late for shit are you?" The truck also had a problem with the door and wouldn't close, and we would have had to wait an hour and a half for roadside assistance (in the middle of an easily accessible city location) had a mechanic just so happened upon us. This was a terrible experience - I don't ever plan on using uhaul again.

The u-haul representative (owner on nametag) in the store was quite indifferent. They did not have some of the blankets we ordered and we were accidentally charged for them even though they new they were missing. I was able to chase the person who helped me out of the door and he wrote a note on my receipt for when I returned the vehicle. The return process was quick but felt disorganized. I was just told everything was fine and I would get an email. This was not horrible but it was below our expectation and below what we understood to be our agreement with U-haul.

The individual responsible for hitch install was also busy helping customers, and doing yard tasks. As such, he was unable to get the hitch done in a timely manner, backing up another customer behind me. Furthermore, I had scheduled this install a month in advance, and the hitch was not at the shop. To be clear, I do not fault the individual employee, but rather the management of the store not setting up the staff for success.

My experience was not great. First, the truck I reserved was at a different location and I wasn't informed. So, I had to make an extra trip. I would have rated the experience a 1 but the 2 guys who helped me return the truck were awesome and redeemed you somewhat. I have used this location before and thought the service was quite good. This is related to the reservation specialist I spoke with over the phone. I had them promise me that there would be no additional fee incurred for extending my reservation, as having the trailer longer was merely convenience, not necessity. Unfortunately, I was charged for 2 rental sessions when the specialist said I would not be. Really frustrating.

There were multiple "hidden fees" I used a 8' truck for 1.5 hours and only put 13 miles on it, yet somehow I paid $63! The listed price was $20 and then .79 for each mile.... it should have been around $30 max so I feel very ripped off. *The workers were nice and the truck was clean but the price was ridiculous. If you can offer any sort of compensation please reach out at mona7035@stthomas.edu. I would appreciate it!

Got to the location at 9am to pick up my pre-reserved van and the line was long. It took 1 hour to get up to the service counter. And although I lost 1hour in line I was forced to return the van in 3 hours in stead of the reservation for 4 hours which I paid for. This is a rip-off and a bad system for customer service. However I will say the employees were very courteous.

The wait time to pick up my rental was nearly an hour. This location seems to be very poorly managed. When I told the employee that I had to wait nearly an hour in line to get my rental they told me that's just how it is and didn't care. I have no intention of ever coming back and renting from does U-Haul ever again and this experience has left me with a bad opinion of uhaul as company overall.

Our U-Haul U-POD experience was perfect until it arrived at the U-Haul St Paul location. After that it was a disaster. Your 200 character limit makes is impossible to list the screw-ups. NEVER AGAIN!
