I had a terrible experience with u-haul in San Rafael... They basically gas lighted us ... lying on two seperate occasions about why we were not able to get access to our U-box... Very unhappy.

I failed to check the contract and so I did not notice that it claimed there was 7/8 of a tank of gas in the pickup truck I rented, rather than the 1/4 tank that was actually in the truck. I put another 1/2 tank of gas in the truck. I used 1/4 tank, so I returned it with 1/2 a tank - more than when I picked it up. But I will be charged extra because I didn't bring it back with 7/8 of a tank. I complained about this to a manager, who said I should have read the contract and taken a cell phone photo of the gauge. Otherwise there was nothing they could do. He's right; I should have. But I shouldn't have to. U-Haul should have put the correct amount - 1/4 tank - on the contract. That is U-Haul's responsibility, not mine. I wonder how many times a day this location does this? Is cheating people out of gas money a way U-Haul gets a little extra profit margin? Do employees get a bonus every time they manage to cheat people this way? I will never use U-Haul again, for any product or service, and I will leave a Yelp review about this incident.

The people working there were kind and helpful. However, we reserved 4 packages of blankets and there were none available. This was unexpected and unappreciated at the last minute. I asked if we could rent some for purchase blankets and was told no. I was offered a discount that still did not make it worth it. We used our personal indoor blankets which caused more laundry for us and less protection for our furniture. I wonder if you all can do something to make this up to us?

While the location of he facility is good the layout of the parking lot (for customers and rental vehicles) is very cramped, somewhat disorganized, and confusing.

This truck rental experience was truly the worst of my life. I received 4 calls in the two days leading up to my reservation stating that my truck and tow dolly were or were not available. Ultimately, the 15 foot truck I reserved weeks in advance was not available within a 300 mile radius of my location, so I was offered either a 10 foot truck or the option to cancel my reservation. The people I spoke to on the phone and at the facility were neither helpful nor sympathetic. I will absolutely never use Uhaul again, and I will advise my friends and family to never use their services either.

Wrong truck for moving a refrigerator. I gave the female customer service person the dimensions and she said the 10' truck would work. Plus a hand truck dolly for the refrigerator and a regular dolly. WRONG! I drove away and pulled over to chexk the dollys. Wrong ones altogether!!could not believe it since I clicked the pictures online. She dodn't know what she was doing. 1.5 hour drive to my pick-up.... NO RAMP on the truck and the refrigerator could not stand up in the truck—-too low. So we had to rope it in place at 45 degree angle. What a cluster!! Worse experience EVER and I've rented UHauls for years. I was very specific and she just didn't know anything. Next time I will only work with a guy on the phone. I had 4 guys moving things who were really pissed off at me. It was a disaster!!

The "reservation" process is a total joke. I made a reservation for a truck 3 weeks out and had a printed confirmation in my file. I was notified 24 hours ahead that you had no truck for me and my family had to move out of a house - we were screwed by U Haul. No excuse for this total failure. I feel sorry for your employees that have to make those phone calls and tell customers like me that they are 100% screwed and have no truck to move out of their house tomorrow. I'd love to hear an attempt at a response to my comment.

Truck was given empty and I was told I would be given $15 credit which didn't happen. I was told I would be given $35 if I fill up a 1/4 of a tank which I did almost half and asked for credit but they refused to for the overfilled. I felt cheated that they didn't give $15 credit for the empty tank and refused to give more than $35 for the overfilling that I did.

The technician who helped connect and disconnect the trailer was very helpful and quickly fixed a wiring problem with the trailer. I didn't get his name, but he helped me at about 10:30 and again at 12:30 on Thursday. Great service.

Make some attempt to clean your vehicles. I rented on 2 consecutive days and neither one had been clean on the exterior in quite a while. I had to stop to clean the windshield. Not really such an issue as the low fuel warning came on within 10 miles

I arrived 30 mins behind my scheduled pickup time due to traffic and was told my reservation timeframe had been cut in half because my van had been rented by someone else. As i had no warning of this possibility i asked if there was anything i could do to remedy to which the associate replied yes you could have been here on time. Completely rude and unhelpful. Overall a terrible experience, in have been a return uhaul customer in the past but i will never use uhaul again after this trip.

Overall EXCELLENT. I am a single woman so I was shy to return my trailer after hours alone. I also would not have known how to disassemble the trailer. They kindly allowed me to return the trailer at 9am the next morning which was so thoughtful for my safety. I will always be loyal to this San Rafael location for that. Thank you!

Don't offer rental equipment if its not available to use. And don't lie to me and tell me I won't be charged for a furniture dolly that I didn't use and then it still shows up on my bill.

The inside of the UBox was really dirty. Really, really dirty. BTW, I did not pick up the UBox in San Rafael, so I have no way to rate the facility. (It was dropped off at my house.)

Truck ran terribly, to the point of being dangerous. Engine, transmission, horrible. Interior light would not shut off, draining battery. This vehicle should not be on the road, needs to be retired. I paid for a dolly, which they didn't have and blankets, which they forgot. Major inconvenience. I need another truck next week, will not be using U-Haul.

Alec was great and really helpful. One recco would be to remind drivers about the tow / haul function as ram rally puts undo strain on engine Especially when going downhill. Once turned off, was 20x better and wish knew before as was stressful prior.

The truck had cigarette ash and coffee spilled on the inside. The staff was quick to clean it before I drove the truck off the lot. The air conditioning in the truck went out on me half way through the rental period which was uncomfortable considering it was 93º out.

Improve your website. Explain that the times offered are the only times available. And that a 6-hour commitment may not be possible to extend. I had a very tight threshold to fit my schedule with UHaul's As a result, I did not complete my work... and I was charged $285. That sucked.

There needs to be better directions to the location. Maps do not send you to correct location and when you find it you can only turn in from one direction which is not easy to do u-turn on that street. Confusing entry.

Van I rented on 9ctober 3 the windshield was so dirty I didn't feel safe at night. My corporate reservation was not there October 6. Diana, the person at the front desk was unfriendly- not helpful and kind of rude.

This uhaul location had people to help me, check the equipment in the parking lot, greet me and tell me where to park. The process was easy, they had a very clean restroom and large selling space where I picked up more boxes, tape etc.

A u-haul representative should have been OUTSIDE at drop off location to accept the vehicle. When I arrived I went inside and waited in line for 10-15 until I was called up to the counter. At that point it went very smoothly!

I rented a 17” uhual online. I had done the 24/7 mobile access and the truck wasn't there when I arrived. I arrived 48hrs after I had rented I arrived at the location and the GM Juan Arrendondo said “we don't have that here, I don't know why you were able to rent it.” So he knew I had a reservation and didn't call me to let me know they couldn't fulfill it, and then tried to blame it on me. I asked him what we could and what could rent and he said “we may have some 15” but they could be gone”. I wasn't sure why he was being so dismissive when I had a reservation and was trying to rent a truck. I asked him also about the dollys and other items I was able to reserved online and he just said “that's not up to me, it's a first come first serve basis”, even though I had reserved these items online, just like the truck. Upon being able to rent a 15' truck, Juan asked when I would be able to return it, I said 8pm and he said that wouldn't work because he had a reservation the following morning- apparently he didn't understand the 24/7 mobile check in/drop off and again made it my fault for him not knowing your companies policies. It was by far the worst customer service I've ever had at a uhual location.

Corporate, your locations are understaffed, no Management from Maine DepArture to West Coast, take care of your employees, they were incredible, but they must have engaged leadership to lead them.

I ordered a U-box and was not contacted until 3.5 hours after the promised delivery time. I cancelled my order due to this and want to know when I will be receiving a refund for this
