The 24/7 feature has been difficult at every UHaul location I've used. I've ALWAYS had to eventually wait in a long line and actually have a customer service person help me. Today's rep was fantastic. It would have been nice to just get to check in in a couple of minutes and go. Always takes 30+ minutes to be on my way.DJ M.

Using U Box to move cross country was a horribly nerve-wracking and frustrating experience and I will be cautioning all my friends against it. Uhaul staff is trained to mislead customers about the shipping process so anytime I attempted to get answers about my U Box thqt ended up being 2 weeks late, I was on hold for an hour and then treated to rude, unhelpful customer service. Additionally, I was charged for an extra month of storage while my U box was in transit. I have called, emailed, filled out contact forms etc repeatedly asking for a refund for this mistake and have still not received ANY communication about this. Uhaul's standard of quality is unbelievably low and they make it clear they don't care about their customers by always passing them off to â€œanother departmentâ€ and never actually solving the issue. A complete disappointment and waste of 3 grand.Nina I.

My Ubox did not come completely stocked with the hooks or rope to strap down our items. Amy who delivered the box was very friendly, however when we went to the store at the Uhaul location, they were not very helpful and actually mean. Find helpful and motivated employees. I arrived to a person sitting behind the counter scrolling through their phone who said â€œsomeone will be with you in bit.â€ When dropping it off, same employee, asked me â€œhow was the truck?â€ I told them â€œit needs to be retired, it creaks and sounds like it's going to fall apart, it also leaked in the â€˜moms attic' and got a bunch of my boxes wet.â€ Employee says â€œoh. You can just leave the keys on the seat and a receipt will be mailed to you.â€John T.

This is now my â€œGo Toâ€ U-Haul location: these folks have it dialed in. I was so impressed with the professionalism of the entire staff. Everyone there seemed to know what was going on and they worked hard to get you in and out as quickly as possible. They also were super helpful assisting another customer with some really good advice about moving a moped. The truck was very clean and overall, I was very impressed with their customer service! I didn't get the name of the person who helped me, I think it was Eric, but he really made everything as easy as possible. I had a problem with my lighting wiring and he took care of it, no problem. I really appreciated how he handled the whole experience at a stressful time for me.dalas V.

Since my last rental, U haul has upped its game on user tech. I was able to book and rent entirely online making it extremely quick, easy, and confident.Myles K.
There were 2 employees working and it took me probably about 45 minutes to get to the front of the 5 person line. By the time I left the line was nearly out the door. People also kept coming in and going to the front of the line and interrupting the people, and the workers would just let them and then help them with whatever they needed. You need about 2-3 more staff people at that location.Amy T.
The location was just fine. It took a long time because of the old, slow, not up to date computer system at that location. The big problem was with the drop off location for a one-way trailer. Couldn't select a convenient location. no one was able to help me on line or at pickup location.THOMAS B.

The Columbia location was great however I was originally sent to a location at 1520 NW Quimby Portland OR and there was no truck there and no attendant and after waiting 45 minutes on hold to speak to someone at U-Haul I was told to come to the storage at Columbia. This delay caused a big problem as I had movers waiting over an hour and I had to pay them for the extra time. Definitely not happy with the service breakdown but end result was good.INGRID FAYE K.

I reserved a 15' truck and auto transport and was told I had both. I picked up my 15' truck and was told to come back by 7pm to put it back on after loading our truck. We finished loading, turned in our apartment keys and left to get the auto transport attached so that we could start our road trip. Upon getting there they now told us they no longer had our auto transport and my wife and I had to drive separately in a truck that was not safe for a long distance road trip. Uhaul was not quick to fix the problem and I had to do all of the work to find a replacement in a different state and they wanted to charge me twice as much initially. I will never use Uhaul again and will pay the extra dollar to have a professional company move it.DANIEL BENJAMIN J.

I requested one location that was an easy walk from my apartment since I do not have a car. My reservation was then switched to a different location without reviving a call or email notification. Fortunately a friend drove me to the new location but I waisted the first hour of my reservation doing this. Because of this I lost the 1st hour of moving when I had reserved the loading dock and elevator at my apartment and it was only available for 4 hours.MAURA P.

I'll be bringing action against this Uhaul location for installing our auto transport incorrectly, causing it to pop off the hitch and hit my wife when we loaded our car onto it. Good things: most of the hardworking, kind staff, well lit, well, maintained, very secure. Bad things: elevator that breaks down, door to unit that is broken, my card not working to let me into the building, and most of all, that I am somehow paying for all of September even though I moved out on September 4th. Rented a van online, figuring I would do the mobile app so I wouldn't have to wait in line, we'll I had to wait in line to get the keys, that's a joke. Dropped the van off around 9:45am, shoulda made them check it back in, but didn't. The finally checked the van back in around 1 pm, and got charged for 40 miles, when I drove 15. They must of re rented the van back out to someone else.BRET G.

I was so grateful - they even dug in the back to find one last pack of moving blankets when all had been sold out. I took picture and showed check in person at return, showed her the receipt for the 1,5 gallons of fuel I bought for just 17 miles driven and she assured me I wouldn't be charged. The whole cab of the truck had dog hair and I had to clean it myself using the cleaning products handed to me by uhaul. I sort of figured they'd clean it when I mentioned how it was still filthy and unsanitized from the previous renter.Sarah B.

This was not my original pickup location. My original vehicle at my original location was unavailable. They offered me a larger vehicle from the Columbia Blvd location at the same price. Although out of my way I agreed. When we arrived to pick up we asked about the milage price which was at a higher rate. They adjusted the mileage price as well as adjusted the fuel level so we would not need to stop and fill up before drop off. This was above and beyond for just a slight inconvenience. They made a stressful day go much smoother. We will use this location for any future u-haul needs. Highly recommend this location.Barbara B.

The person who could check people out and run the store was not present at opening (9:00 am) so the two guys who did show up had to deal with about 20 customers themselves. Those two guys were amazing, and super nice despite the issues. We finally got out of the lot at 11:30 and got home to realize the trailer lights didn't actually work. We were pretty curious about many things at this location, but we know if was not the two guys' fault and want it known that they did what they could and were awesome.DANIEL E.

I ordered 2U boxes because online and when I called, I was assured that I would be refunded the price for one U box rental if I did not use one of them. However in the end, I actually paid more for one box then I was originally quoted for two. they are able to jack up the shipping rate if the shipping rate changesâ€¦ Originally I was quoted just over 2 000 $to rent one you box and I ended up paying close to 3 000 $. Yet, I was never informed that the shipping rate was going to increase Until I saw the charge on my credit card. when it came time to unload my box, after I had moved halfway across the country, they did not deliver on time. I called 2 weeks prior to tell them the day that I would be moving in, the day that I needed my U box to be there so that I could move into my apartment, and it never came. I had called that day to make sure that it was coming, and no one seemed to know why I thought that it was supposed to be delivered. In their system it had said that I was unloading it at the storage center, Even though I called multiple times to plan this move. I ended up having to stay in a hotel and wait for my box to arrive, since it had my bed in it and all of my stuff that I could not access. overall, this whole experience has been very poor. I tried to call U-Haul multiple times to make sure that everything was in order, and when you call it says they record calls, so I know that there is a log of all of my calls. There is a log of everything that I have done to ensure a seamless move, but on their end there is no communication, there is no support, end it created a lot of inconveniences for me. When I did call to make complaints along the way, I was made to feel that I was the problem, that I had messed up and that there was nothing that company could do to help me. For the most part the agents were unhelpful, and sometimes very rude and short with me. I will not be using U-Haul again and I will definitely not be recommending it because I don't think that anyone should be treated with as much disrespect as I was.Kathryn M.
Went to put gas in the van after having it for only 30 minutes and gas starting spilling out of the tank everywhere, found out the gas line was cut by I'm assuming a homeless person at your store. No one was there at 9AM when the store opened. Customers lined up eager to get their rentals for about 4 minutes until other workers came in and helped. Upon rental return the big guy was a real jerk - apparently miffed that I asked for a printed receipt and he had to actually get up out of his chair and check the truck in on foot. Our movers that were recommended thru Uhaul did not show up on our original move date so our stuff arrived later than originally guaranteed by Uhaul after we had to find another company that didn't cost way too much. They pods arrived in Kokomo IN early but we couldn't get them delivered early on our original date because they only delivered to our city on Wednesday and Fridays. We were not made aware of this prior to booking. There was lack of support from Uhaul when our movers didn't show up even though it is through Uhaul. Very disappointed in the entire process. The vehicle I rented smelled like cigarette smoke and had ashes across the dashboard, otherwise the vehicle was fine and performed well. The service location itself is average and the employees do an okay job of keeping up with the demand in a tough area and with some impatient customers. I'd say it's a normal/average location overall. The mobile check in process is ridiculous, though, but that's not this location's fault. 95 % of the check in process should be done before arriving at the location and then the customer should get their keys BEFORE going to find the vehicle! Wandering the lot multiple times is a waste of everyone's time and energy.JOSH M.

The two young men working in this location are running some sort of scamming operation they will make up lies and Tell you that you can't revive the deposit I had to call the U-Haul in Washington and get the right information I went back in and showed them proof and they acted dumb and pretended like they didn't know what they were doing and ended up giving me my deposit but no receipt or prove that I returned the U-Haul they even admitted to it when they handed me the cash I only wish I recorded It this is very unprofessional and very wrong what they're doing I hope they get the right punishment. Make the online process work! I ended up going inside and being helped by an associate because the system was so shoddy. I also think that the requirements to rent should be VERY CLEARLY stated, perhaps multiple times, in the rental emails. I did not recall reading that I would need two references to rent the truck. Had I been better prepared, by Uhaul as well, my rental would not have been delayed by nearly and hour and my day marred by difficulty. But the people working at this location were amazing despite the difficult problems they have to solve regularly. I hope Uhaul is treating their employees well! We reserved a truck for pick up at 9:00am, we arrived nearly 10 minutes early, but the line was so long that we didn't receive keys to the truck until 9:55am.Hao D.
Showed up at reservation time to pick up van reserved 2 weeks prior. No van available! Staff was puzzled where a van was they had this morning but was gone now. Out of 4 employees, one never looked away from his phone, and the others kept deferring to the other puzzled why there was no van available. One employee was on record for checkin in a van this morning, yet no one knew where the van or keys were located. All employees just shrugged their shoulders. They offered a box truck or pickup as a substitute. Both options did not fit my needs. Then they deferred to a man named Eric. He searched on computer, still no idea where the van they had earlier was located. He called another store to see if they had a van and stated that he would send me to that location. I was dropped off and had no way to travel from one location to the next. Once I informed him of that he quickly got off the phone. He the stated â€œ well it's no fault of our own that we don't have a vanâ€, â€œ people return things late and rent them all the timeâ€. Are you kidding me?!? I then asked him how it's not his fault when they can't even locate a van they claimed to have earlier?! Finally someone random arrived and said another van had been returned but was reported damaged. One employee went out to find said van and stated it had no damage. They handed me the keys and a printout. Once at the van it had body damage on passenger side rear and side step. Along with other minor scrapes to bumpers. Also the fuel level was reported as 3/4, yet it was one tick away from half. Frustrated and late due to delay. I left with the van. This experience competes with most of my experiences with uhaul. Lack luster customer service, not having reserved equipment, and poorly function equipment. Reservations are made to ensure what a customer needs is at the location when it is needed. This and most uhaul locations need a revamp of what customer service is.PAUL R.

The staffing issue was very prevalent, had to wait over an hour to get the truck in the first place, and returning was only easy because of the app even though I selected to have someone come out with me. This was not my preferred drop off location. I tried and the staff at pick up location tried to change the drop off but couldn't get it to change. I had two phone conversations with UHaul customer service but couldn't seem to get it changed. The inability to get the drop off changed to the location I wanted which was near where my car was parked was very frustrating and added a layer of stress to the rental.Mark R.

I have an access code not a card to swipe This location seems to be unclear on how access code works, I entered my code to check in at the center key pad as directed, however system denies me access to the sliding door and regular door when I enter my code there FIX this problem. I came by at 7:03 pm on 7/10/21 and because of this was denied access. Someone had a door propped open with a fire extinguisher so I was able to enter the building, this is obviously a safety issue this site needs to address. However they likely did it because after 7 pm their access code did not allow them to enter through the slider or door.Linda H. | Online Move In

I was very disappointed with my experience dealing and travelling with U-HAUL. When first receiving my truck and trailer, I had to travel more than an hour outside of my desired pick up location. When picking up the truck, which was at a different location as the trailer, there was no Staff at the location and I had to run through the pick up procedures with someone over the phone. I had ordered a dolly and furniture blankets to come with the truck. I was told over the phone "yeah so we don't have any of those, so you can call another dealer to try and find some". Once I drove the truck to the location of the trailer and hooked it up it was realized that the trailer lights did NOT WORK. The process of fixing this issue caused my wife and I to delay our international travels by an entire day. After 3 hours of being on the road, the ENGINE LIGHT came on and the truck began to OVERHEAT! Roadside assistance was contact but did not respond. After checking the truck engine I found there to be NO COOLANT. I then had to buy 2 1 GALLON containers of coolant to reach the full line. After reaching our destination uhaul N Columbia Blvd. Portland OR, we were greeted by LAVINA who was the only helpful staff member we were in contact with. Our trip was a disaster and at times we felt unsafe and unsure of if the truck was safe to drive. I am extremely disappointed with this location and U-Haul it self for many reasons. I went with U-Haul for my most recent move and spent quite a bit of money on this company. To start with the employees at this location were rude u helpful and just plain lazy. They didn't accommodate for me at all. Spoke to me and my bf in a rude manner. Wasn't the least bit helpful with my questions that I had instead told me I will find an estimate the day I pick u up truck. Average is because you can't reach them by phone but when you come in there's 4 guys standing around twiddling their thumbs. Average because I was given a u-haul van with a cut gas line, forcing me to come back, change all my plans. Was told that the vans continually have cut gas lines but the facility is apparently too cheap to put some extra security/walls around it despite the loss in vans and a poor customer experience. I haven't talked to Anita (Columbia location manager) yet, but I remember her from Powell location. She is a top notch employee which makes this review unfortunate .However, her new male employee (heavy set with glasses) was slightly rude, a bit abrasive and his way of expressing "the way it is" was offensive. It was as if my business was in question or not wanted. I was told over the phone (great customer service btw) first month free if I rent a 1-way Uhaul and in tandem with my storage rental. When I showed up in advance see the unit and do paperwork at Columbia I was told I do not get the first month free since I didn't show up with the moving truck (scheduled with a cc for later that day) first. That seems to be a trust issue with bad customers. I have a history of positive business already in the Uhaul system so to not receive the offer I was told, even those apparently it will be the second month IF I show up with a rented truck for drop off. Then, when I picked up my Uhaul as scheduled later and told the Clackamas location manager he said the guy not honoring the deal (at Columbia) without the moving truck in my possession was ridiculous. However, he then told me that the truck I was renting couldn't be a 1-way because Clackamas owns the truck. I was never told by phone reservation or Columbia about any possibility that I would incur more miles to return back to Clackamas because they own that particular moving van. In short, my plans to move got set back 4-6 rearranging my move because of the above situations there were more potential out of pocket to rent both the storage space and Uhaul. Frankly, I would have cancelled if it wasn't for needing to move quickly and my cc already used for reservations with Uhaul. Not a memorable experience at all.Rod B. | Premières impressions

The first time I saw the facility I asked the guy working about it, and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. Because of his kindness I went back to rent a unit. The woman working the desk when I went back was very dismissive and condescending. It was obvious it was frustrating for her to have to answer any of my questions or to give me any additional information except a "yes" or "no." (The man working with her was from another facility and not familiar with this one, although he was the one helping me). We finished the paperwork, and he told me where I was supposed to go. I asked about the free lock I was supposed to get for registering online, and the woman flippantly said, "It's in the unit," as if "Duh, how did we not know that?" I wasn't familiar with the building or how to get in, but they gave me a card and sent me on my way. I drove over and tried one door. The door opened without the key, so once inside I tried to find my way around. I was lost and confused. I walked back to the main office. The guy told me, no, it was another entrance. The woman said rudely to him, "Give her a map," as if he were stupid. I asked him to please walk out and SHOW me the correct entrance. He kindly did. I then walked back to my car and drove to another entrance. The door opened without the key, but I was still lost. Somehow I found my way to my unit upstairs, but the door wouldn't open. At this point I was ready to cancel the whole thing and just ask for my money back. I was almost in tears. Why couldn't they have just walked me over and shown me around this facility? I went back downstairs, and there was another woman unloading her car. I asked her if she was familiar with how this worked, and she took me back and helped me get in the door to my unit (the door was "locked" with a plastic tie that ideally needed scissors to cut off; the other customer tried using her key to "cut" the tie. After 5 minutes, she was able to get it off. We opened the door, and there was no lock inside. I walked BACK to the main facility, and the man gave me a lock. Then I went back to the unit to unload boxes from my car. The entire experience was upsetting and frustrating. The U-Haul workers both needed to learn customer service skills. The unit is fine, and I am happy with that, but that rudeness affected me for the rest of the day.Terri B. | Online Move In

I moved to Portland to take care of my mother and my property was an estacada and my property got burnt down two days after I rented the storage unit so I didn't have nothing to put in it and the day I came into it closed out the storage unit it still tried to charge me I never used the unit once and it was it was open the day that they needed it to be open still trying to charge me I'm headed disaster in my life and two of them and they're still trying to charge me money and I didn't even use the facilitylawrence h. | Expérience générale
The ramp coming out of the storage facility closest to Columbia Blvd. is quite steep and a couple times we even lost control of the furniture cart and had it go down the ramp by itself and some items fell off. Also, the parking/loading area near the storage facility is too tight: the spaces are small and there's not much room to load and often the spots are full of cars from other uhaul customers who are not loading/unloading to the storage units.Jessica R. | Expérience générale
