They need to be more accommodating to customers. They would not come out to do over the preinspection even though I had asked. The truck had many little dings that was not sure if I need to record and it was covered in grass. I did not want to be responsible for these things and just wanted them to look at it, with social distance of course.PETER L.

Contactless check in needs some process improvements. Not at all intuitive or smooth. Staff there were helpful in sorting it out but the whole thing took much longer to do than it should have, and should not have required outside help.Jon U.
I wasn't sure what to expect for the online check in. You definitely need a fully-charged phone. There are a lot of photos to take! And I somehow lost my connection to the original page, and then couldn't reconnect. It might be helpful to have a note that says to go inside for the keys and THEN FINISH THE CHECKIN PROCESS.Patrick T.

Staff at this location were extremely rude and unhelpful. Office was frequently abandoned and the only staff member I could find when walking around was aggressively unhelpful and seemed to resent his job and his life. I have worked with UHaul in multiple cities/states and never dealt with staff like this before. When the time comes to relocate from my new city I will not be using UHaul for the move. Additionally, one of my items was broken, despite being packed correctly; under normal circumstances I would write this off as â€œstuff happensâ€ but when viewed in concert with the above it just adds to my disappointment.Timothy O.

The container was delivered to my home so I cannot rate â€œthe locationâ€. Phone interactions were helpful & cordial. Everything went smoothly. I haven't talked to Anita (Columbia location manager) yet, but I remember her from Powell location. She is a top notch employee which makes this review unfortunate .However, her new male employee (heavy set with glasses) was slightly rude, a bit abrasive and his way of expressing "the way it is" was offensive. It was as if my business was in question or not wanted. I was told over the phone (great customer service btw) first month free if I rent a 1-way Uhaul and in tandem with my storage rental. When I showed up in advance see the unit and do paperwork at Columbia I was told I do not get the first month free since I didn't show up with the moving truck (scheduled with a cc for later that day) first. That seems to be a trust issue with bad customers. I have a history of positive business already in the Uhaul system so to not receive the offer I was told, even those apparently it will be the second month IF I show up with a rented truck for drop off. Then, when I picked up my Uhaul as scheduled later and told the Clackamas location manager he said the guy not honoring the deal (at Columbia) without the moving truck in my possession was ridiculous. However, he then told me that the truck I was renting couldn't be a 1-way because Clackamas owns the truck. I was never told by phone reservation or Columbia about any possibility that I would incur more miles to return back to Clackamas because they own that particular moving van. In short, my plans to move got set back 4-6 rearranging my move because of the above situations there were more potential out of pocket to rent both the storage space and Uhaul. Frankly, I would have cancelled if it wasn't for needing to move quickly and my cc already used for reservations with Uhaul. Not a memorable experience at all.Rod B. | Premières impressions

I want to let you know that AJ needs a raise he went above and beyond to an excellent service. He was always there to answer question and helping. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. I give this place a 10 star. The only thing I would change is when you walk in the storage area it smell like a nursery with all the baby things in front door area. The first time I saw the facility I asked the guy working about it, and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. Because of his kindness I went back to rent a unit. The woman working the desk when I went back was very dismissive and condescending. It was obvious it was frustrating for her to have to answer any of my questions or to give me any additional information except a "yes" or "no." (The man working with her was from another facility and not familiar with this one, although he was the one helping me). We finished the paperwork, and he told me where I was supposed to go. I asked about the free lock I was supposed to get for registering online, and the woman flippantly said, "It's in the unit," as if "Duh, how did we not know that?" I wasn't familiar with the building or how to get in, but they gave me a card and sent me on my way. I drove over and tried one door. The door opened without the key, so once inside I tried to find my way around. I was lost and confused. I walked back to the main office. The guy told me, no, it was another entrance. The woman said rudely to him, "Give her a map," as if he were stupid. I asked him to please walk out and SHOW me the correct entrance. He kindly did. I then walked back to my car and drove to another entrance. The door opened without the key, but I was still lost. Somehow I found my way to my unit upstairs, but the door wouldn't open. At this point I was ready to cancel the whole thing and just ask for my money back. I was almost in tears. Why couldn't they have just walked me over and shown me around this facility? I went back downstairs, and there was another woman unloading her car. I asked her if she was familiar with how this worked, and she took me back and helped me get in the door to my unit (the door was "locked" with a plastic tie that ideally needed scissors to cut off; the other customer tried using her key to "cut" the tie. After 5 minutes, she was able to get it off. We opened the door, and there was no lock inside. I walked BACK to the main facility, and the man gave me a lock. Then I went back to the unit to unload boxes from my car. The entire experience was upsetting and frustrating. The U-Haul workers both needed to learn customer service skills. The unit is fine, and I am happy with that, but that rudeness affected me for the rest of the day.Terri B. | Online Move In

The web site lists 24 hour return; but, the process for returning after hours was daunting. Even though my phone said Location Services were on, the web site consistently refused to complete the return process saying my Location Services were not on. As for personnel, a personal item belonging to my brother was dropped off at his new apartment building. That was service above and beyond expectations.Mark F.

I came in to the store after making my reservation. There were about 4-5 associates and wine behind the counter. I started the process to pick up my trailer. The other associates were talking and moving pallets of boxes. While trying to speak with one of the reps another associate with grey hair and undercut was banging on the boxes with a stick saying see how annoying I can be. I had to yell so the rep could hear me and I could jot hear a single thing besides someone 4 feet behind me banging purposely making noise. Stating he is being annoying. Everyone working thought it was funny. Beyond unprofessional uncomfortable situation. Will never comebackAdam D.

I was very disappointed because I made my reservation on Friday night online and the rate/mile was 0,79 $ but when I picked up the Cargo Van I was charged 1,09 $. This was very misleading. I wouldn't necessarily blame the location I went to as I scheduled online, but the person helping me didn't provide explanation or correct this issue.Rick F.

Our truck had check engine light on the whole way. I took it to a uhaul center to be diagnosed in Medford, Oregon on the first travel day. Mechanic temporarily fixed the check engine light problem. That mechanic told me, "if the light comes on again, just keep driving it until the thing breaks down." This seemed extremely unsafe as i drove across the country in vast areas with no cellular service. The next morning the check engine light came on after about 30 minutes of driving. Then I called roadside assistance when i reached Albuquerque, after the light had been in for 3 days. They dispatched a mechanic. He couldn't fix the check engine light. He then instructed me to shift the transmission differently, but I had been driving it on cruise control and that didn't seem to correspond with the check engine light. This was a very stressful 3 000 mile trip due to equipment failure, mechanic ineptitude, uhauls lack of interest in their equipment, uhauls inability to take care of their with customers wellbeing and safety! Fix your equipment, don't let people drive across the country with malfunctioning equipment. Diagnose and fix your equipment. This has been a horrible experience!David W.
What I can't recommend is U-haul itself. U-haul's process of moving where the pick up will be 3 and 4 times farther and farther away from where I made the reservation is just bad customer service. Last time as I was driving the the 3 location they changed it again to a location another 5 or 6 miles away. Unacceptable, but U-haul has a monopoly on enclosed trailers.Joseph B.

Okay so I used uhaul from California to Portland. My drop off location was given to me via text message and didn't work very well and was frustrating. It was the Valvonie in Portland and I couldn't for the life of me find the drop box. The 800 # attendant was a kind of a jerk but gave me a different location (final drop off) and it was amazing! Great service felt so safe and truly made up for the other bad incident. 100 % would recommend this whole process thank you so much!!!!EMILY L.

Next time they could accurately notate the starting gas and mileage, they could clean out the van and not leave trash and debris in it, and they could not erroneously charge me for gas even though I brought it back more full than I got it. They could even make me wait on hold less than 20 minutes to remediate the gas charges if they really wanted to go the extra mile.Todd C.

Our rental went smoothly except that mobile check in really slowed us down. The app didn't recognize the back of the drivers license photo because of the faded address change sticker (OR license), and i had to re-enter a lot of info that I already had entered when making the reservation. I moved to Portland to take care of my mother and my property was an estacada and my property got burnt down two days after I rented the storage unit so I didn't have nothing to put in it and the day I came into it closed out the storage unit it still tried to charge me I never used the unit once and it was it was open the day that they needed it to be open still trying to charge me I'm headed disaster in my life and two of them and they're still trying to charge me money and I didn't even use the facilitylawrence h. | Expérience générale
The ramp coming out of the storage facility closest to Columbia Blvd. is quite steep and a couple times we even lost control of the furniture cart and had it go down the ramp by itself and some items fell off. Also, the parking/loading area near the storage facility is too tight: the spaces are small and there's not much room to load and often the spots are full of cars from other uhaul customers who are not loading/unloading to the storage units.Jessica R. | Expérience générale

THE FRUSTRATING: 1) Access code was clear & rcvd quickly, however it was nearly impossible to locate my unit with available signage. No unit maps posted in storage area. Had to visit office for help. They gave me a paper map--so not at all contact free. 2) We moved a completely full 15' truck--furniture, boxes. The access to my unit was up a winding ramp and through 2 regular size doors which were difficult at best to prop open. The location has many dock doors, all locked and unavailable for customer use (I was told by office). Told it was a "liability issue". Moving up that ramp was a bigger liability issue IMO. Took 2 hours to load truck for long distance move and 4 hrs to unload to storage. THE GOOD: 1) Staff was friendly. 2) Unlimited, free use of moving "carts". 3) Building & unit were clean and well-maintained 4) Free filtered water available in office. (No bottled water available for purchase). BOTTOM LINE: It would have been much easier to have access through dock doors. I mean, what's the point of their existence?STEPHANIE W. | Online Move In

The people are friendly and courteous. My only complaint is that the person I originally spoke with and made agreements with, over the phone, failed to note the arrangements/agreements so that when I arrived to pick up van the person at desk had no idea and though I was 'in the system' the details of time/days and mileage were not. Thankfully the clerk was unruffled when I pointed out the difference between her contract and the agreement/arrangement made previous day over phone with the manager. She called manager and got everything straightened out.
