I requested a move out on April first. I received an email stating my rent would increase and responded stating I would not be paying as I had already requested a move out. I then called U-Haul's customer service line and they said that they were going to have somebody be submitting my move out request and have it be processed. Then finally on May 14th someone called me and noticed my padlock was gone and my door was open on my storage unit and wanted to know if I had done that intentionally. I said yes I've been wanting to move out of this unit for over a month. Thankfully at that point Sherry was great and has processed my move out.Megan S. | Expérience générale

Website seemed to choke and sputter when I tried to do online check-in. The line when I arrived to pick up the truck was too long. There were only two agent. Up returning in stead of getting a receipt immediately documenting that the truck was indeed back in the possession of U-Haul, I was told I would receive a receipt in half an hour by email. When I received the receipt it was in a picture format (.gif) instead in a business like portable document file (.pdf) format. It's hard to tell from the receipt I received, but, it looks like I may have been charged for insurance I declined. I will take into consideration these issues when making a future decision (in other words your rental fee will need to be lower than your competitors).DANTE ROBERT M.

Car dolly rented had a frayed strap and malfunctioning tie-down ratchet. Used some of my own ratchet straps (at home) to further secure the vehicle being towed. Yard staff was very rude/impolite to my wife upon returning the equipment/car dolly...forcing her to back it into a corner through the tight lot - telling her that she "needed to return it to the exact spot, like where you picked it up from". Dolly was wheeled to the car when we picked it up originally(?). Also counter staff asked if she filled it up with gas upon returning...after she explained that she was returning a CAR DOLLY.Patrick O.

Location has the renters leave the key in the truck when they drop off. This is what I did. Two days later I get a call asking me where the truck is. It seems that there were a lot of vehicles and trailers to rent and the store was well organized. I did have problem with the fact that I was renting a trailer and I was told to wait in my vehicle to be told where to go to get the trailer, but no one ever came. I had already paid and received the link for assessing the condition of the trailer, and by the time I was actually able to get the trailer the assessment link had timed out. It was Friday and busy, but I only had the trailer for so many hours, and spending one at the Uhaul parking lot wasn't on my agenda.Siriana C.

Overall, the staff tried to help me. However, I was very discouraged to find that the storage unit I had reserved was not available upon my arrival. The reason I was given is that many people do not show up to claim their unit. Essentially, this is punishing the people who are responsible and do show up. I had to get 2 different units to fit my belongings and it was very inconvenient for me. Why not charge a fee to the people who don't show up and reward the people who do with the product they reserved and were led to believe was available?Alison A.

We were rented a broken trailer, we were told once it leave the lot the uhal service team needs to handle it. We waited around for multiple hours less than a mile from the uhal location. The service team said these springs have been broken for a long time there is no way this was good when you got it. Then our 30 min job took all day. We had to get a different trailer and then it really only took 30 min the guy was like â€œback alreadyâ€ but the whole thing took all day. Lee was an so much help at the beginning however he asked Jose to assist up and we were denied help.... the experience was all over the place. Super nice Lee very unhelpful other dude when the trailer was broken and no one called us after we left a message.... all in all it was ok....Lauren H.

Adding signs to more clearly point where to turn for the drop off lane at this location would help prevent having people make the wrong turn when delivering a one-way rental that was picked up from a different location. This location was so busy when we tried to return our truck we were however greeted by a friendly employee who said he would process the rental for us. Had he not arrived I'm not sure how long it would have taken to get to someone at the counter. Earlier in the day we encountered the same issue while trying to return our auto transport trailer. The staff that helped us with that return was incredibly rude and impatient. This later return of the truck was made much more pleasant by the friendly staff member that returned the truck for us outside so we could stop waiting in the lineDon F.
The staff helping with the return of our trailer was so rude. We asked if he could assist us with how to best unload our car from the trailer and the staff member (outside only assisting with returns) told us â€œit's easy, you can do it yourselfâ€. Once we got the car unloaded ourselves he told us to pull into the return area with the trailer and very rudely and with a lot of annoyance yelled at us directions for backing our very large and difficult to drive 26ft truck up to the area that the trailer could be removed. It was such a stressful interaction after being on the road with this equipment for 2 days and being in a new city. We were so shocked at how unhelpful this employee was. We later returned our truck to the same location but the employee who helped with that return was much more helpful and clear with instructions. I wish I had both employee's names but they didn't have name tags on. It would make for a much more pleasant experience if staff understood that people returning equipment to them have often just finished with a very tiring and stressful time and the last thing they need is to have it exasperated by the staff at UHaul.DANA L.

I rented a truck and a storage unit at the same time/location. The gentleman at the counter could not have been any more helpful and courteous. When I went out to the lot to get my truck a Hispanic gentleman asked me for my contract. I gave him ALL of the paperwork I had received from the gentleman at the counter. The Hispanic gentleman then got upset and threw all of my paperwork in the trash. I had to dig thru the trash to recover my rental contract and the location/number of my storage unit. Speedier service, resolve issues with online and in person pick up. Took me 1 and a half hours to pick up the truck and about the same to drop-off after booking online and doing mobile pick-up/drop-off. Followed instructions on app and then employee told me he was going to charge me more for dropping my keys in the box. Overall rude and took forever. Day before I had truck scheduled to pick up at Columbia location and online said to pick it up there, when I got there they were rude and told me my truck was in Gresham. Counter employee was very rude, became visibly irritated when i had questions. Information regarding truck pick up was not accurate. Truck was parked in a manner and location that would have been unsafe for me to move it out of. Driver seat was broken at the base so I could not adjust it forward to reach the pedals, a yard employee had to force it forward. The brakes on the truck were inadequate, very soft and had to be pressed to the floor for a great distance before truck would stop. Was required to bring the fuel back at a full tank even though it was well under a full tank at pickup. I would never this uhaul location again. Terrible experience all around.Jennifer G.

We needed a 6' X 12' trailer so we could pack up and move a relative up to Vancouver, WA from Beaverton, OR. The intention was to rent the trailer in Beaverton and just drop it off when done in Vancouver so we didn't have to make yet another trip back down to Beaverton and then back home to Vancouver (we live there too). The attendant told us that we would not be able to drop off the trailer in Vancouver when done, that instead we would have to bring it back to Beaverton, or else to Spokane, WA or Boise, ID, which is even more ridiculous. This created a great inconvenience as we had already spent much in gas and much time traveling around to help with the move. Since there are U-Haul locations available in both locations, and since this can be done with rental trucks/vans, I do not understand why we could not just drop off the trailer in Vancouver. If the trailer was needed in Beaverton the next day, I feel U-Haul should be able to arrange for this to be brought back so the customer does not have to make another unnecessary trip back out of town. My thoughts are that this is subpar customer service and should be something that U-Haul should work to remedy.STEVEN DERALD T.

The only reason we aren't giving this location an Excellent is because they didn't discuss the drop off location with us. They asked if we wanted to change the drop off location, but didn't suggest we do so. Which based on our experience at the drop off location in LA we certainly would have. They were terrible. Also, this is the second time we were charged for gas stating that the tank was below the 7/8 level when we dropped it off in LA. We followed this Uhaul locations recommendations for how much gas to put in, but evidently it was low...for the second time. I think your company does that on purpose so you can get yet another fee. We do like this location and the truck made it all the way to LA from Portland without any issues,,,thank goodness!DANIEL W.
Using the online check in was a frustrating. Had problems with it on both sides of the transaction. This location tends to be quite busy, so it is often going to be faster than a regular stand in line check in, but was not thrilled with getting held up by " technology". Also, having to go inside for keys defeats the purpose. If there is a line, looking like you're cutting , while proceeding to the side desk ( didnt see a sign where you go once inside, but hopefully its there- there was no line so I was immediately called to a window) will just annoy others more. I've rented from this location many times over the years and have never had a problem with any staff. Always helpful.KELLY R.

Despite doing everything correctly, it took 16 days, multiple live chats with uhaul, several phone calls, and finally traveling to the site itself to complete the process. I rated average because I requested a 10x10x10 and the unit I was rented has a lower head clearance with roll up door cylinder just inside entrance. The unit is actually 10x9. I had 3 standard pallets to load in to be pickup later and can not be stacked to 6'4" ready to go in storage unit. I really liked that I could rent via mobile device and after hours, since the move was unplanned. However, I was supposed to receive the first month free with the rental of a vehicle. There was no way to apply the free month via online. There is no way to contact the storage office directly (I must call and wait on hold from 20 min to 1hr+) and have yet to receive assistance with this 3 weeks after the move-in. Also, the access wasn't clear, and we we're locked out of the facility after hours the first time we arrived (because 2 vehicles entered using our code, which "logged us out"). We had to call an after hours line, leave a message, and wait 30 min for someone to show up only to tell us that we could have walked outside the gate and enabled our code again. I dropped a rental truck at this location as well as renting a storage unit. The process with the storage unit went well and there were no issues. I however have an issue with the rental return. I picked up a 15 foot truck in Medford Oregon on Saturday June 27th. When I picked up the truck it was very low on gas and I asked the attendance what is the process for fueling. I was told to return the truck with the same amount of gas as when I picked it up. I returned the truck with the exact amount of gas to the Beaverton location but then last night got a bill for 54 $in fuel charges. I called the store and was told they will look into it. I am not sure why I was charged for fuel when I returned it exactly the same amount of fuel as I picked it up with. I think this is taking advantage of customers and a sneaky way to get some additional money from the customer. I will certainly dispute this charge if a credit is not give to my account. other than very long wait times in office lines to pick up the truck/van and arrange for storage, getting from california to oregon with a 15' foot, returning it, and then putting stuff in storage was a breeze. next day, picked up a 10' van to transport from storage into a condo. HOWEVER, was not informed needed to provide home owners insurance coverage information for storage and that would have been helpful to know when reserving.Amy C. | Premières impressions
There were only 2 Uhaul employees behind the counter at 3:30 on a Sunday. Also the 1st day of the month. The line was out the door. I was told the gentleman was going to put a lock on my empty storage unit and then I could leave.
