It's advertised as 24hr access in multiple online advertisments. This is why I choose this facility as I have my own small side work jobs and need access to my supplies. It did not state anywhere visable I'd have to have a business license and or LLC which I have neither as of yet but plan to in future if it becomes a full time serious business, to be allowed that access. I wasn't told until I could not get in after regular hours and had to go to main corporate building down the street and speak to someone who then told me. Very disappointed. My card didn't work. Got it replaced after not being able to get ahold of anyone in the phone. Replacement didn't work. Elevator eventually had to be reset. The associate who helped me told me that I could access the storage until 10pm which was just for today because I signed up so late. When I got to gate it denied my access because it was after normal hours. Why would you tell a customer you can have access for later hours when obviously he knew it wasn't going to allow me inside gate. Really disappointing. There is no cart for use at the site, and the only two other people I saw there appeared to be homeless and living out of their units. One woman was literally blocking my way of moving into my unit as she was "living" in a chair directly across from my unit. I truly fear for my stored items as it doesn't appear you are doing anything to deter the homeless living and congregating at this facility. You should have a cart available for use near each entrance. How many carts do you have at this facility?? We have never seen one!! I felt it unfortunate that after emailing management more than once about a serious situation I had, I was repeatedly ignored, which was aggravating. Also, they kept no records of the email and front desk was dismissive and rude, saying "it's not his responsibility to email you back." I'm just curious then...whyis his email on the bills and also the Uhaul website, if he's going to ignore serious inquiries altogether. Maybe it's just for the look of service. Only issue I had was in finding 3 doors on 1 unit when I arrived to move in. The staff at the vehicle rental location provided me with 2 additional locks to secure the doors at no charge. The elevator to my group of units was broken. Other clients were letting people in the facility themselves so we could walk up to the second floor, then send the elevator down. Really? Let me comment on your Biggest setback, and Still an Ongoing Problem ! Your Advertised, and Labeled as: a 24/7 Storage Facility... But, unless someone Asks (at their time of Renting a Unit), they are Unaware of Only having Access: During Office Hour's, and Not 24/7 ! This Facility should Not be Posting as being 24/7 ! The only other thing that I see as being a problem (some of the time) is: Since their are so many worker's with U-Haul, is that there is Bad Communication with Staff. Blood, sweat, and, tears... From the moment I called on Sat. June13 this has been a horrible experience. The women who booked the reservation basically lied to me regarding the unit size, availability, and the free month rent. The associates at the Store showed absolutely no customer service skills what so ever, and the unit I was giving was a two door unit with a green tag and some else locks on either doors. I made a reservation on the phone it got canceled and the same size storage wasn't available anymore. They promised me a bigger size with the same size. I drove an hour, packed everything and went there, guess what! That was all a lie and they gave it to me with the original price! I don't know what was the point of the making a reservation when I'm gonna still get the worst experience ever! At some point I wished I'd through everything away instead of getting a storage unit with u haul. My credit card was charged the day prior to my move-out date. I called and notified the branch that I would be moving out on the scheduled last day and would not be renewing. They said it was seemed to be an error that the month was billed in advance and would have the manager call me to resolve. I received no call. I called the next day to confirm I moved out and that there was still a pending billing discrepancy. Again, they informed me only the manage could resolve and would call. I again did not receive a call. I again called several days later to get status on refund but again was told manager is only one that can resolve. I went to Doheny first and he made me wait 30 minutes to tell me that I was at the wrong location. I left Doheny very angry. I will never go back to Doheny. San Clemente was wonderful. Don't waste you're time trying to buy the best locks or buying the insurance incase you feel you're stuff will get stolen we bought the best lock that's pick proof and tool proof but when our uhaul was stolen we went to recover it after it was found. Our lock had not been broken so the thirds actually tore of the handle of the uhaul stole all our things. Uhaul wouldn't cover anything because apparently they only cover damages not thefts. We are military and were PCS'ing so thanks a lot uhaul for being cheap.JESSENIA R.

The hitch ball was put on upside down and we didn't know it until we got to the Kitsap location when the UHaul representative said that is why we were struggling with the van dragging the chains. It should have been installed differently. Other than that...everyone was wonderful!Sean A.
The U-Haul representative in the store reminded me that the "average" person can move in 6 hours or less. This 60 year old is not the average mover. Then she asked again if I really needed the truck for two days, to which I replied "Yes". Then she stated that I was tying up the truck for another customer...what am I? Am I not a paying customer? I recieved NO discounts and I had to pay for the vehicle for those 2 days. I AM a paying customer and U-Haul lost absolutely NO money. I am a 60 year old woman who, along with her 40 year old daughter, was loading a truck by ourselves. I had a one bedroom with wall to wall furniture, which included a 200lb desk and 14 boxes of books, 3 desks and other "normal" furniture and loaded boxes. The owner of the San Clemente location almost did not match the Budget rental truck rate I was quoted on-line. I called customer service and they told me I had to take in the quote that I got from Budget to the location and they would have to adjust it in the store. When I got there the owner told me that she doesn't do that and didn't know why customer service told me that. But because they had she would go ahead and do it. I have o be honest i was hesitant to rent from U haul. I had a very horrible experience with the store in Lake forest. It was run by junkies and they ended up stealing form us. This was in 2008 and I swore Id never use uhaul again.. This experience was totally different and I thank you for an easy rental. I received a text message the morning of my rental instructing me to go to a different location than was on my confirmation email. I didn't realize that needed to call and confirm the change and when I went to the new location I was given, they were closed. U-Haul Traffic advised me to go to the Avenida Pico location where a truck would be available. When I arrived there was another customer on the phone with customer service complaining that because he was late his rental was cancelled. The same truck that was now assigned to me. The desk agent took it upon herself to reassign another vehicle that had been assigned to a third customer to me and to let the complaining customer keep his rental. It was a lot of unnecessary drama that soured my experience with U-Haul.Charles M.

The first location on Calle Valle, in San Clemente was not open for business at my appointment time 9:00 am. I waited for approximately 25 minutes and then called U-Haul 800 and had my reservation moved to Pico location.DAN S.

A one day rental that advertises for 29,95 $ actually cost 154 $for including a dolly. I picked up at 1:00 and returned at 6:00, with 30 $for gas (I drove less than 75 miles...that is 2,45 $ a mile...a little pricey.....GARY W.

I had occasion to make a panic stop when the car in front of me unexpectedly stopped. The unloaded trailer kept pushing me toward a collision with that car and I stopped within one foot of their bumper. Since I was returning the trailer after hours, I called the renting location to report that the trailer's braking system had not worked and that the trailer almost caused me to have an accident. The agent told me that the trailer does not have brakes and relies on the vehicle to stop it. I told her it did have brakes and that she should make the report. I have not had any feedback regarding what they found. It would be nice. (I'm not looking for compensation, just a bit of training for the agent.)Daniel S.

I called to square my bill, the next day after my return. I spoke to gentleman who assured me the bill had been closed and there was no further action on my part. So the next day when U-haul manager called me she started out by yelling at me saying "YOU KNOW YOU OWE ME MONEY AMY" what lovely customer service even after explaing to her what had happened she seemed not to care stating my card was declined. Maybe detail my car for free while I am using the truck for the day? MMmmm. Maybe a bunch of guys available who are willing to move some heavy stuff for just a 12 pack of beer. Oh. Explain how to adjust the mirrors. I was afraid to shove the things manually, and could not find any way to do electronically. It was a great experience renting from you guys as always.JAMES M.
