This location is located in an area so crime ridden that they can't even offer the basic amenities that should come with a u-haul rental (i.e. after hours drop-offs, parking, etc.). The general manager failed to even communicate their inability to accept after hours drop-offs after I explicitly stated that that was my intention. This resulted in me sitting in this sketchy parking lot for 30 minutes at 9pm on hold with customer service trying to figure out what to do with my rental while I had a 3 hour drive back to Portland ahead of me. I'm really not one to go out of my way and leave a review like this but the all around poor communication and service left me extremely unimpressed. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone was very helpful though, kudos to him!

The overall rental reservation process was very difficult and frustrating. I had a 20' truck I reserved over a month in advance for the Interbay location, and I was told two days beforehand that I had to go to West Seattle (over 40 minutes away) to pick up my trick. Given that my storage unit was in Interbay, I had to cancel my reservation and switch to a 15' truck. The fact that Uhaul is unable to operate their reservation system with some customer assurance makes for a poor customer experience. Additionally, I had to go back and change my final destination drop-off, since I wasn't given an option through the online interface. I was in no way compensated for all of this inconvenience, so I don't plan to use Uhaul's services in the future unless some improvements are made.

There was water leaking from the garage door into the building all the time. The storage unit was also not true to the size advertised, as there was a beam cutting into the 9x5 space, making the allowable storage space smaller.

You can stress on your website that there is no parking available. There was 2 hour parking nearby. I had to walk back in the pouring rain. My 4 hr rental became a 2 hr rental due to the parking restrictions. Also I was all set to use your mobile options, 95 % of which did not work at all. Your staff person acknowledged they don't work.

I called corporate to extend my pickup and drop off time for my van. It wasn't until I called that number that I found out I wouldn't be able to leave my car at their site while using the van, which meant I had to spend an extra 50 $on Lyft rides. When I got to the location the employee was not wearing a mask and said as long as I brought it back by closing the next day I wouldn't be charged extra but that they didn't have after hour drop off, which is not what I was told when I had originally called customer service. The van had to stay overnight in my outdoor parking spot which made me nervous due to possibility of being broken into or stolen. I was able to bring it back 4 or 5 pm, and this time there were 2 employees not wearing masks. The final straw on writing this bad review is that I received a call at 8:30 this morning (the morning after dropping the van off) asking when I'd be dropping my keys off. The employee seemed confused but I had to hang up because I was working so I'm not sure how that was another thing that had gone wrong.

Awful. The policies here changed every time we came to access our storage unit. They would cut our locks and place their own, one time needed to cut their own lock because they lost their key. Was very difficult to get assistance from unhelpful staff.

I had to get extra miles and pay for an Uber there and back because uhaul switched the locations on me. I reserved one 0,4 miles away from my apt and then you switched to one 4,3 miles away. This added to the time and miles that I needed.

My reservation was supposed to be near the capital hill location. Last min they changed it and I had to take an Uber to the new location. The miles I put on the van would have been less if the location wasn't changed. I had to spend more money due to the change.

It's very important to note that there are no 24/7 returns and no key drop off. They also didn't give me a receipt once I dropped off the rental. They are unresponsive once you leave the lot when calling so make sure you get as much info that you need before you leave.

Staff was helpful for the most part, but instructed me to return the truck by 7PM when the branch closes at 5. I arrived at 6:50 to a closed office. I live 30 minutes away so having to drive back the next morning on a monday was extremely inconvenient.

Originally I had scheduled my pickup in one location, when I arrived and after waiting in line for 20 minutes I was told they didn't have my rental and someone else took it. Further, the associate at the original location searched all nearby locations for the same vehicle. Finally, he found a location that had the truck I needed. It was 7 miles away. When I arrived at the next Store, it was wide open and unlocked with no one there. I waited for 10 minutes. Saw someone drive up in a car with no uhaul markings, jump out of the car with no uhaul clothing, he strolled into the building and walked behind the register and started looking up my order. Odd to leave a business unmanned? Then I was told that I couldn't park my car on sight. When I asked what my options were I was told to park in the grocery parking lot that was 20 mins away on foot. To make matters worse, when I parked my own car at the grocery store I was asked by the security guard if I was renting a uhaul. I said yes and he responded with “you will be towed”. How you've continued to stay in business with such poor operations is baffling. As acfo of a publicly traded company, I can say loud and clear that I will advise all employees to steer clear of haul all together

I made an online order well in advance - a truck, two dollies, blankets. When I came to pick up the truck there were no dollies at this location. I was advised to go to the nearby location hoping they have dollies. I drove there but there were not dollies either. I was about to cancel the order because of that because no dollies means I am not able to move stuff. I ended up losing time and buying two dollies. I don't think this is acceptable at all. When I make online order and I receive an email "Your order is ready and waiting for you at xxx" I expect that literally what I ordered is waiting there. Not 50 % of the order making my move suddenly impossible because of u-haul poor service. Thank you for at least having a truck and not ruining the day completely.

I rented a Pickup for 24 hours. The staff numbers looked like they had been reduced from other times I have rented Pickups at this location. I was used to the vehicle being driven up to the front door for me to inspect and drive off from there. This time I was given the key and the service man pointed from his desk that I could find the truck "over there." He said the number on the key tag would match the truck. I went to retrieve the truck and it was absolutely filthy on the outside. It looked like it had been parked there for quite a while. It did not look like it had been cleaned - at least on the outside for quite some time. The outside windows were dirty and you could tell that the windshield wipers had been run after the windows were dirty. The truck was parked apparently under a pigeon roost, as there was yucky stringy bird poop all over the hood and sides of the truck. I took pictures. The bed of the truck looked like maybe it had been rinsed at one time or another, but had remnants of dirt in the bottom. I was surprised also that the outside of the truck looked Very Banged up. Not all of the dents and scrapes had the usual stickers on them. Again, I took pictures before I left the lot. This was a very different experience than I have had in the past. I was disappointed. However, the truck ran fine and I was able to use it for the job I had.

Overall this was not a good experience using U-haul. It reminded me why I usually avoid U-haul for any truck rentals. The service/personnel at this location was fine. The big problem was that I had actually made an online reservation for the Ballard location, but when I arrived for pick-up, they didn't actually have the cargo van I reserved online, nor a suitable replacement. They helped transfer my reservation to the Interbay location, but that was further out of the way and the whole mixup ended up costing me an hour of my time. The delay came very close to ruining the whole reason I rented the van in the first place - I would have paid roughly 200 $in rental fees and gas for nothing. Luckily, I was able to get to my destination just in time to pick up the materials I needed. If you're going to offer reservations, you've got to know what trucks are actually available. That seems to be one of the most basic tasks of running any rental company. U-haul failed there.

Signed up for truck share 24/7, but was later told that doesn't work for this location. I registered a two hour pickup/drop off, but was then told that I had to drop off my van or keys the following day at 7am, or else be charged. Extremely frustrating, and straight up impossible for some.

Make sure your trucks are safe to drive and do not have puncture holes in the gas tank. Also by not charging me twice for one truck and not getting my money returned back to me at all. I will never rent from U-Haul again

Having some on-site parking would be delightful, even just working with the Interbay Golf Center to secure a few spots. Also, my truck had a malfunctioning driver's side mirror - rendering it completely unusable during my entire drive, preventing me form safely merging.
