I rented a 5x8 cargo trailer for 24 hrs with pick up and return to the Sunol Blvd site in Pleasanton. Right before the pickup, I realized it was best for me to leave the trailer at the destination of the move (Davis, CA) so I asked the person who checked me in to change my reservation. I was told the trailer had to be returned to the same site. I later found that is true only for utility trailers, not cargo trailers, so that was a bit of a disappointment. Other than that I really like the overall ease of use of the online reservation system and the process to return the equipment after hours.VINCENZO S.

I rented a climate controlled unit & it was a very clean facility w/ very good amenities. I even ran behind on rent & they called said they were gonna auction it, my fault. They even offered a to settle for 1/2 price witch I thought was great except I'd never be able to rent a storage from u-haul anywhere ever again. Ouch can't have that down the road cuz ya never know. So I ponied up the full monte & we were flush w/o being blackballed. It's a storage locker. Your throwing good money storing your crap. Now I'm sharing one. I know we're in a drought, but the exterior of the van was filthy! And my "luck" was that I got a 20' van with 156 miles on it! And the worse part about the entire experience, was that it ONLY had about a 1/4 of a tank of gas! Does NOT make starting a moving day very fun, when I had to go to the gas station FIRST THING.DAVID D.

No one picks phone for customer service. Cost me extra day. Initial input in the veihcle was wrong which pointed to cost me 870 $for 2 days and 10 min distance move. Had to come all the way back again to get it corrected. I have always rented U-haul before and it has always been excellent experience. But this one was the worst and cost me a lot time, effort, anxiety and stress due to lack of remote customer support avaialability.Amrutavijay N.

This was, by FAR the best UHaul experience I have ever had -- and maybe the best *equipment*rental* experience I have ever had. I had a weekend-long very stressful project ahead of me, and was worried maybe most of all about the UHaul pieces, having had problems in the past at OTHER locations. This. Location. Is. Awesome. I only rented there because it was closest to where my projects for the weekend started. It's about 1,5hrs from my house. In the future, EVERY time I need a truck or trailer that I could get form UHaul, I will make every effort to rent from this location first, and will DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone who asks. There is a difference. There may be other good locations, but, if there are, I haven't found them yet. This place is exemplary, and should earn all the awards and recognition. The staff is professional, on top of things, and friendly; the entire transaction was careful, but also efficient -- both renting and returning. And the lot is conveniently huge and easy to deal with, as is the entry/exit from the street, etc. Awesome place. Awesome people. Shockingly better than any of the many UHaul experiences I have had in the past. Thanks for everything. Stay great, and stay safe!JAMES P.

-Communication could improve. I would have liked to have a receive a clear window of time for pick of and drop off of my boxes. When I ask I was told 7am-4pm and had to push to hear a window of 12-4. Had the same problem when they were dropped of at our next place. The driver called and said they were coming early and I had made a note to call my husband's number as I was hosting my sister's bridal shower but that did not happen, so it became a stressful situation that could have been avoided if the note on my file was passed to the driver and they followed delivery time windows. -Communication- I was told the boxes could easily be lined up in my carport. When they were delivered they came on trailers that they stayed on and had to park 1 in the carport and 2 on the street because the boxes opened in 2 different directions on the trailer. This was frustrating as it was not what I was told and they guy that delivered them was not very happy that I was questioning why he couldn't do what I was told on the phone and he was not very accommodating. -furniture mats- We had enough for what we needed but in each Ubox it said there would be 24 mats but we only received 12 mats in each -payment/communication. I was unknowingly charged and extra 50 bucks. When I called to question it, they said the fee was because they moved my boxes to another facility out of town for some reason. I was never notified of this and luckily I did not need to access my boxes while in storage or this would have been very frustrating. I had to submit a claim to have my 50 reimbursed which it eventually was. -communication- the pleasanton site did answer the phone each time I called, but uhaul as a company had extremely long wait times when I called -box number recommendations- the online recommendations for uboxes I would need for a 2 bedroom apt was 3 Uboxes. We had them packed full and still needed to take mattresses and other large items to a friends house to store because they did not fit. I would have needed 4 boxes and I do not think we have more stuff than the average person. I luckily had the first month free deal on the storage boxes so that helped, but if I had to pay the full monthly for each storage box and had to deal with these issues then I would have been very disappointedKatrina N.

The girl with the dreads is very rude and horrible customer service. She needs to be more approachable when customers ask her questions. Very stand-off. Hard to get ahold of anyone via phone. This location was AWESOME! Had a massive issue with getting this location back to my assigned location. And â€œcrystalâ€ at (510) 729-6642 was literally the most rude down right useless employee, who refused to help. I had to call three different people to get someone to assist, who updated my reservation back to how it originally was. Since I know you record your calls, please feel free to take a listen. I think you're be just as shocked as I was with her service. Again I want to make clear the physical drop off location was perfect all employees were top notch.Jamie M.

The facility was severely understaffed. The person helping had to help number of other people while serving my request. I went to reserve a storage and it not a pleasant experience. I reserved the contract on-line for 99,95 $, when I went to the office to sign the contract, they could not retrieve it for a long time, I had to retrieve it on my phone and show it to the staff. When they retrieve the contract they said it is 104,95 $. Just a bad experience overall. I will not recommend uhaul to anyone for any service.Pani K. | Premières impressions

Honestly everything was so hard to find. I couldn't figure out where to drop off the vehicle and then I had issues with finding my storage unit and then I couldn't find the key drop box. My ubox was not ready to unload when I came at the scheduled date, and I had to come back in the afternoon to unload and move into my new rented storage. I'm only giving 5 stars because of how great your employee was, although the situation I had to deal with was extremely frustrating. The guy who helped me (I can't remember his name but if U Haul cares about reviews I can get it) is a great asset to U Haul and provides outstanding customer service. I've worked in retail before and understand how angry customers can get when they get screwed over but he genuinely felt bad and had helped me throughout the whole process. He deserves a raise and/or a promotion. Seriously. The only issue I had with this facility is that I was assigned a storage unit and after moving everything in realized there was no sliding lock on the door to attach to my lock. I showed him the situation and could tell he really felt bad about the bad news he had to share with me. Luckily he found me another unit that was close by and although it was frustrating to have to move everything by myself after my roommates left I was happy he found me one close to my storage unit. **For Uhaul** If my review affects this guy's job in a negative way then you are not reading my review. He did an amazing job handling the situation and doesn't deserve any negative feedback towards him. It was out of his control as it would be impossible to monitor hundreds of storage units by himself. It should have been in the system that there wasn't a way to attach a lock. I moved my stuff out may 15th of the storage unit but I tried for over a week to talk to someone on the phone to close the account. It was frustrating calling everyday to speak to someone at the location because the call center couldn't close it. Finally I had to ask my dad to go to the location to speak to someone to Close it out as I didn't want to get billed. What a nightmare a whole week calling everyday. I found the facility interrior clean and once inside well kept however I did have two issues when I arrived at the Pleasanton facility: 1. Access to storage in the rear was not apparent, I had to inquire where to go and 2. The access from very few parking stalls was on a steep embankment which made it very difficult to pull/push carts up the steep hill.Luanna S. | Online Move In

The description of what could fit into certain sizes of storage were very misleading online. When we arrived at the storage facility, it was obvious that we were not going to be able to store our items in the locker we had chosen and we needed something bigger. Deanna, in the reception area was wonderful. She helped us find a storage unit that worked for our needs, found us the best deal, and then organized all the paperwork and brought it back to us whilst we started moving in. She was fabulous. I rented a 10x10, but when I got there it was not vacant. Apparently, there was a mixup of some sort and so I was left without a unit. The assistant manager was grumpy, and not helpful. The lady that helped me was awesome. She took me around to all of the available spaces until I found the best option. She has shoulder length dark hair, is slim and energetic. The employees were very friendly, however this was about the most unorganized and incomplete move in experience. 1. Although I was allowed to moved into two units (and booked weeks in advance), I still only have one unit under my name because the employees said the "system wasn't cooperating." I still only have one unit under my name and cannot get ahold of anyone at the front desk to fix this. And when I got my receipt, it still only shows the one unit. 2. My keycard never got activated even though I visited the front desk twice. I still cannot access the building during off hours yet I have a unit. Our movers were allowed to put our belongings in the wrong storage unit and we thought all of my recently deceased moms stuff had been stolen. As if we aren't stressed enough. Telephone from inside storage facility was not working. However there was no indication this was the case and I waited many times while the phone rang without getting an answer. Eventually walked to office and was told phone did not work. Staff was aware but never did anything to remedy the problem. I was unable to access the storage unit for the first four days as it had not been unlocked and no staff were available to open it as I could not get to the facility until after work.
