This experience was horrible. Not only did our boxes arrive extremely late, no one could help us. We were charged a storage fee even though we hadn't received our boxes and when we tried to request a refund for the storage we were told no. Throughout the process no one could locate out boxes, and kept being told we needed to just keep calling customer service, who would in return make us call the local pick up locations. deliver delayed 4 times, late for more than 1 week! customer service said there will be refund for 50 $/delay day but I didn't get anything! Local pick up customer service is very unfriendly. Called the local customer service a day before pick up date and they told me I paid all bills, I should have no problem. But at the pick up day, at the pick up time I got called said I need to pay 126more! otherwise, the box won't be released! After I paid and they just hang up the phone! Overall, very bad pick up experience! Wish the local customer service could be friendlier, at lease say something like â€œthank you for moving with uHaulâ€, other than just hang up the phone.ZIA Z.

Friendly helpful staff, clean building but that elevator scared the crap out of me every time I had to use it, Why not unlock the stairs from all floors but the worst was the bait and switch, I reserved a unit that was to be 84 $plus 7 $insurance, got to the store and was told they did no have that unit any more would I like this other unit for 96 $a month and 7 $insurance, why reserve a unit if they just give it away. Dollies all stolen at one point, making it impossible to move belongings through the maze of units. Parking near units impossible. Rat poo in both units (I have given up one unit, but still share another unit with a friend for the time being.) Homeless people clearly living out of some units and camping out in the hallways. online checkout process is somewhat confusing, 6 or so screens, and repetitive questions. Would also be nice to do the all the steps beforehand. I booked a Uhaul for after hours and was given instructions for how to unlock it using your app. I got a call 30 mins before closing telling me that I had 15 minutes to get there and there is no way to pick it up using the instructions I received when I booked it. Otherwise I would not get my truck today. I dropped everything and rushed there, only to be told that they wouldn't accept my NC DMV issued temporary driver's license and would only accept a temporary driving permit (or something equally incomtpehensible). The woman insisted I needed to go to the physical DMV in North Carolina to pick this up. She refused to rent the uhaul using my DMV issued temporary license and made me come back another day, ruining my plans to move. Would not recommend this location.NICHOLAS F.

I've never encountered a more convoluted rental experience. After spending 30 minutes online arranging a 'fast self guided checkout' you arrive to find you have no idea where to find your truck, and there's no signage indicating where to go/what to do. Much less, when you walk into the office you're confronted with 3 employees on their cellphones, doing literally nothing. When you ask one of them for some help, they literally laugh at you for being confused. When you finally do find your truck, the app tells you that you need to provide contacts to confirm that you're who you say you are. Do you know how ridiculous it is to expect your friend/family member to just drop what they're doing and pick up a phone call from some random number? For god sake they barely pick up when I'm calling. Much better the dumb little bot that's talking to you on your phone through the app asks "are you still there?". Where the hell do you think I'm going to go without the truck? Have any of your user experience people ever rented a truck from your company? I'm relatively certain my dog could diagram a more efficient workflow, and he's about as smart as a square is round. In any case, you're paying someone too much to ruin the mornings of poor schmucks like myself that need a rental truck. As for the quality of the equipment - the steering was dangerously loose, the brakes were soft, and the transmission couldn't downshift. All and all, in the same way I would not recommend my crazy ex to a pal, I would not recommend your business to a friend. Unfortunately, and exactly similar to the ex analogy, I will likely find myself back at your establishment at some point for a rough ride, poor service and feeling of shame/desperation.Chris M.

The check in process to receive my truck took well over an hour, my truck was supposed to be ready at 11 and I wasnt able to start until after 12 and they still charged me for the full 6 hoursBrian C.
I was disappointed with my overall experience in retrieving the contents of my U-Box. My box was from an earlier vendor (Door to Door), and was a non-standard size. The contents had to be re-packed into a standard-sized container before it could be delivered to the destination, which incurred additional labor and cost. U-Haul did not inform me that this would be necessary until the day before the move. U-Haul should have notified me much earlier so that I did not have to scramble for moving labor at the last minute.GEORGE G.
The facility staff on duty is great and the manager Gino is very helpful and it shows that he has great experience in the storage/moving industry which reflects in the way he handles every single account. Your staff was courteous and I felt back for the gal checking us in. We had a bait and switch pulled on us which was quite disconcerting. Not her fault. But I was told on the phone twice that I had reserved a 12 x 7 x 8 on the first floor and arrived to find it wasn't available. I ended up having to get a 2nd space because we couldn't lift the sofabed and some other heavy boxes up the stairs. I was quite disappointed and will now have to call daily to see if another opens up so I can have just one space and on a floor without steps. The customer service rep at the counter was lovely and put in a very back situation. We arrived and the first floor 12 x 7 x 8 space that I had been told I rented was gone. We had to get a second space to rent because we were not told about stairs and had very heavy items to move that could not go up stairs. I will now have to call daily to get a space that's big enough and has no stairs to get to it. Also, I will have to hire movers to help with this relocation. Very bad bait and switch.Claire M.

I was completely satisfied with just about everything except the long and detailed check in process. Also, you should definitely let customers know that they'll need their cell phones for starters. The customer service agent I had the displeasure of dealing with at this location had an attitude problem. All three of the women were gossiping about customers and all should look for another job since they hate their current one! I was yelled at by the front office. When I brought my rental back I had parked it somewhere this person didn't like. I attempted to tell thai person that I didn't know where else to put it. I had parked it where I found it In the lot. He told me to â€œmove the truck now.â€ Thee was no signage where to park returning vehicles and no one told me where to return it when I first rented the vehicle. The truck I contracted and did paperwork on, did a walk around on and was ready to drive away... had a dead battery! A lot attendant quickly got me a new vehicle, but the ordeal slowed me down by 10 minutes, and I would up with a much older and less desirable truck than the original with the dead battery.Andrew C.
When I went to check-in, I was told the unit I reserved online was not available and that the system is known to have this issue of incorrectly letting customers reserve a unit that is not actually free. Luckily, another similar unit was available, but this could have been a significant concern if there was not another unit available. This should be fixed. Happy with the accessibility and cleanliness of the location. Providing carts and a free section to leave lightly used items was convenient. The lady that helped me check out the truck seemed annoyed she had to deal with people. She talked as fast as possible like a robot and was put out when she had to repeat something. She rattled through something about the gas and a credit but after two times of her not explaining it well, I just said whatever. Besides that the truck had 30 miles to empty on it, at least have some gas in it so I dont have to spend all the time right at the start to go fill it up.Matthew F.

I am so disappointed with this storage place. I called multiple times to ask questions almost a week before my move-in date in order to get some clarification, and no one had any idea how to answer my questions. I was told conflicting things by different people. The website wouldn't let me check-in for a unit and get my one month free from renting a truck. Of course the storage people said there's nothing they can do, so we called 1-800-go-uhaul. The lady did it with us on the phone, and there was still no way to get the free month. She told us to reserve a new unit, pay for it, and present the receipt + truck confirmation at the location for a refund. Of course, the storage people later said they couldn't give me a refund and that I was told ''wrongful information.'' Unbelievable. In addition, because I had to make a new reservation in order to check-in online, I ended up getting a unit that was on top of another one. It took OVER 3 HOURS to take big pieces of furniture up those metal stairs, and my back was destroyed by the end of it. I had specified in the original reservation that I wanted one on the bottom. The map was also useless and it took us over 30mins to even locate the storage unit in the first place. The location is in a terrible area and we had people try to take our stuff, as well as tailgate into the facility after we unlocked the door. The lack of understanding of the IT systems is ridiculous. We were coming from out of town and were going to arrive after hours and was told that we could not do online check in of our existing reservation, that we either had to check in in person or cancel our reservation and select a "rent now" unit. After 2 hours of frantically trying to rent another unit that the manager said was going to be available, we saw in the footnotes that you CAN check in online. All that stress for nothing. Once we got there after hours, it was very unclear the process for which to access the building using the arm/disarm and unlock gate. Luckily Gene picked up the phone to help us get in, otherwise we would've been screwed. My reservation mentioned a price of 84,95 $ for a 10' x 7' x 4' Locker but was told when I checked in that the cost was actually 114,95 $. I showed the email confirmation showing the size and price I was expected to get but it was not honored even with that proof. I had to get a smaller unit to be able to stay within my budget. My concern is what's the point to make a reservation if you don't get the price you expect to pay. The main bad part was that the uhaul mobile smartphone experience doesn't work. I tried to set up auto pay multiple times and it wouldn't let me so I had to pay each month manually. Also, when I got the moving van to check my stuff out, the mobile login didn't say I you were going to call the secondary contact right then and there, so that was annoying as I didn't have someone at that exact moment ready. The service I received in person was always great. Well-staffed and waiting times low. Everyone very patient, friendly and helpful. The facility felt very secure. Card replacement when I lost it was a breeze, when I expected it to be a lot more complicated. My only complaint is that over the years everything in my unit began to smell like mouse or rat pee. I was looking for a storage unit for several weeks. The website does not make clear what is available- the "Reserve" feature lets you reserve units that aren't available. The storage manager advised me to call in and speak to her to check what was available but whenever I called nobody would let me speak to her she is always "unavailable". Everyone that works here seems miserable, they sigh and roll their eyes when you try and ask for help. It wasn't clear that my lock would be in the locker I waited in line for nothing. By signing up online I couldn't add a storage unit to my existing contract, I now have two separate contracts. I called ahead while I was on my way to the facility to get started with whatever info would be needed to check in efficiently. I asked where to park to unload things and the staff member on the phone said to park in the loading dock. I told him that my movers were going to park there and start unloading the van. He said okay and told me he couldn't take any of my info regarding emergency contact/additional contacts over the phone. When I arrived, I had to wait in line for 45 minutes because there was only one employee. My movers unloaded the entire truck in the van. Then I was told my unit would be on the 4th floor so they had to drive up to the 4th floor and unload up there. I couldn't find it and asked for help because the map was very unclear. No one helped me initially. I had to go find someone else and they couldn't find my unit. When i found it, it had someone's name written on it so it was unclear if it was mine. Then my key card didn't work so I almost got locked in the elevator. The unit I had was the dimensions described but the 10 feet goes to the ceiling instead of wide, so it was not helpful at all and I couldn't fit enough in it because no one can stack things 10 feet safely. I ended up having to pay my moved for an extra 1,5 hours due to the lack of service and the employee telling me it was okay for the movers to unload things on the first floor, only to tell us it needed to be reloaded and unloaded again on the 4th floor. I wasted so much money and I'm VERY upset. There was no manager available to assist with my issue. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.Elise A. | Premières impressions

The dock was tricky on the day I moved out although it was fine on the move-in. The gate quickly shut between the time I pressed the "open" button and had hopped into the truck ready to back it up. They failed to have the Unit size I had expected to rent, so required to rent an additional unit at another company across town, thus I incurred additional expense and GREAT inconvenience. At this particular location it would be helpful if an instructional handout was given that gave step by step instructions about accessing the facility. In particular, it would be helpful to know that the elevator Close Door button must be held until the door fully closes, then you must swipe your card and then hit your floor button. The 1 freight elevator available to me on the 3rd floor broke down. An employee came and found me after I called the office to notify them the elevator wasn't working. It was only at that time they told me the elevator was in fact broken. A u-haul employee quickly came to find me. He was great - explained and showed me what to do next. I ended up having to carry all my stuff up to the 4th floor to exit the building. There is no access out with you things off the 3rd floor. I was told the elevator could be out of use for hours and they notified the "offsite" technician. Fast forward an hour or two I learn on my own that the elevator had been repaired. But no one told me and they knew Of my situation. Turns out I spent 90 minutes lugging mattresses, furniture and boxes one by one upstairs when I could use the elevator. I would never recommend this location to anyone. The staff were rude and unhelpful. When I first rented my unit, the staff member who recommended my size was completely off which required me to last minute rent an extra storage unit, raising my cost far above competitors. Management was impossible to get in touch with and was so unprofessional in their communication that a Uhaul representative was concerned. The representative sent notices for management to return my calls and they never did. My move out was disorganized and never logged in the system, requiring my hired movers to stay late and charge me extra. There's only one elevator so try not to move stuff in on weekends. It took far longer than it should and cost me to return my van rental because the slowness of the elevator took hours from. You can only access until 10pm which it says 24/7 access. Highly disappointed with UHaul Storage at 1525 Bryant st. San Francisco. We made the reservation for 5x10x8 storage one month prior the date. But when we came with the loaded truck we have been told that the size is not available and UHaul Storage can give us bigger storage for bigger price. We accepted the bigger size and asked to honor the price of the reservation. But we were told that they can't do it and that we are not reasonable by asking such things. ?!!! We called the corporate Uhaul customer support and they were absolutely useless because they have no decision making power. Since we were put on the spot we had no options to choose other alternatives, so we accepted the bigger storage with bigger price after an hour of argument with the manager Gene Carr III. It is crucial to fulfill the reservation, because moving process is very stressful. The reservation means that Uhaul gives us a Promise that when we come we get it for 100 % in the way it was promised. Uhaul broke the promise and the value of the brand. I am asking to fix your reservation system. If for some uncontrolled reason Uhaul can't fulfill the promise, then Uhaul has to notify the client immediately, so the client would get a chance to look for he alternatives. Car was broken into and front desk lady couldn't have cared less. They refused to take note of that. Ever. No matter how many emails or phone calls, same pointed emails *ALL LIKE THIS* as if they were yelling at me. Although the facilities were overall very clean, as I noted to the staff, there was rust residue from a large leak that came in from the back of my unit. I went in with a reservation, and was told they don't honor those and there are no available units. Luckily, they did have one, and increases the price over the price from my online reservation. I was told to sign without giving any details about the unit, "does it matter? it's the only one available." I wasn't even told the price until I asked for a breakdown of the total. I wasn't given a chance to review the contract, which was very unfavorable (2 visits per day, 30 min max per visit, etc.). I rented a UHaul van and storage unit to store my belongings for a temporary move out of SF. This was the craziest moving experience of my life. I reserved the storage unit a month ahead of time, but wasn't able to move in the first day of my reservation. I figured I would start being charged on the start date and could move in whenever, but I showed up a week later to pick up my van (the day before my flight out of SF), I was told that my storage reservation had been cancelled **without notifying me** and there were no other large units available. HOLY ****!!! What kind of insane corporate policy is that?! Luckily an AWESOME employee, Gino, worked with me for hours to find an abandoned unit and clean it out so I could use it. If he hadn't been so helpful, I would have had to abandon half of my belongings in a dumpster. As is, the delay meant I had to make my last storage drop-off after the office closed. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy in the daytime, but at night, it's downright dangerous. For context, I'm a large guy, so not usually concerned for my safety in the city. But there were at least five people siphoning gas from trucks left on the street, and multiple others that started circling me as soon as I parked. I decided to leave and come back in the morning for fear of my things being stolen. Thankfully, Gino helped me extend my truck reservation to the next morning and I was able to move the rest of my things early before my flight. The higher-ups at UHaul need to rethink their reservation processes and invest in better security for this location. Gino deserves a serious raise/promotion!Matthew C. | Premières impressions

Started off good, but when our storage key, which we bought at the uhaul office, broke (key snapped into half) at the time of the first use of the storage, staff at the office did not offer anything helpful. They told us the technician left for the day (3pm) therefore only way to get it fixed is we call locksmith and pay for 175 $by ourselves. We are not satisfied of this solution as the key is bought brand new at the uhaul office and the door was poorly aligned to begin with. Also, we had to pay 175 $for locksmith out of our pocket just because technician was not around even during the office hour is extremely frustrating. We do not understand why we had to cover the cost for all of this when it was due to poorly maintained door on our storage unit.
