Experience was good except when I was told I didn't put the same amount of gas as when I took it. I took a picture of the gas meter before I drove off and showed it to the attendant. I shouldn't have to do this and the paperwork should've been more accurate.

The customer service upon delivery was deplorable, except the girls that delivered and picked up the containers. We had delivery scheduled for Friday, January 9th.. They asked if Thursday was OK since there was a storm coming. They did not ask if we needed our stuff right away or ask if we would mind a later delivery. This "error" caused an avalanche of issues. They requested a 4 hour window of time: 12-4. Setting aside this amount of time was fine. As we got closer to 3:30 I called. After a hang up and 4 transfers, I was told the truck would arrive at 6pm. As we got closer to 6 I called. After 4 transfers I finally spoke to someone ,who was honest, the truck had not even left the yard. I told them to stop the truck. I did not want the truck arriving that late. I suggested they deliver on Tuesday the 12th. When they arrived the driver was really nice and asked where I wanted them. We discussed logistics. And they were delivered. My husband emptied the boxes that night. I believe I called on Wednesday and requested an early pick-up. The person I spoke to said she would let Renee know. I also said I was supposed to get a call from the supervisor. She said that would be Renee. She said she sent an email. I waited for the phone call. It never came. A driver called on Wednesday to confirm Saturday pickup. I said the boxes have been ready since the previous Wednesday. I asked if she could get them Thursday. She agreed. The driver was awesome. So happy. My sister, works for Cartus. She was the one to arrange these boxes. Her phone number and order number is 916-462-7889. She Also called you guys. She requested I be contacted by the company. I never got an apology call. I guess y'all thought My Dad was not worthy of an apology. After spending $5500.21 to ship the contents of his home from California to South Carolina. I really expected a better experience. The last time I hired a mover, they got everything on the truck and demanded cash when I was told a check was fine. They off loaded everything onto the sidewalk and left. I did not want to repeat this poor service again.

I appreciated the service. But the charging for each part of the process was a little much. The price you advertise is not the price charged if the customer needs it delivered or picked up. Came to more than $2000 for our move. Good customer service tho

It would be helpful if Uhaul mentioned that renters should disable the tow/haul each time the truck started. The difference between 5-6mpg and 10mpg is great specially for the long distance. I would had given a 5 star instead. Care for your customers starts by helping them and environment.

At Check in (8:00AM) no other customers in store but had to interrupt people on phones to get service. Finally attendant (Lady) found someone to help me. More customers came in but only my attendant to help everyone and I had to wait for trailer hookup. Not his fault. Upon Return (5:30PM) no one in store. Found attendant in trailer hookup bay on phone - personal business. He was very rude. When I told him he just wanted to argue. I told him to stop arguing then left.

The driver was excellent and everything went perfectly until a few weeks later when I discovered that I was still being charged a monthly storage fee when I have nothing in storage and never agreed to any on going charges. Getting it resolved over the phone has been and continues to be a nightmare. Will not do business with U-box again.

Although the truck was reasonably clean and reasonably maintained under normal circumstances, it did not feel sanitized inside given the COVID situation. Also there was an under inflated front tire which should have been handled during the truck preparation. The staff was really nice though and they remedied the situation with the tire ASAP. So still good, but not perfect :)

We didn't know the dolly was $7 extra to rent! This was not mentioned on the truck or by the associate. Dolly was already attached to the truck when I received it, so we thought it was included in the rental. Very deceptive!

To be honest I've had bad luck with U-Haul during the last several weeks threw texting. Make it sound like I could get the 26' the day of pick up only a10' was available. Wanted S.J. Was told Merced. Your store on Laurelwood was very professional. A score of 9 from me. If you had a way to help my situation of being ready to move now and would like to reserve the next truck of my size in my area.

My box arrived 6 hours late to my apartment and I was paying 3 men to move my stuff. They had to come back the next day which cost me more. My contract and payment was to deliver my box to my house. When it arrived in Escanaba, MI (60 miles from my house) I was told I needed to rent a UHaul van and pick it up and drive it myself. Very disappointing.

The staff were helpful in providing information to secure the unit, however unhelpful in advising how to access the unit -- the original staff member walked away and didn't say why at the end of the process without any direction in which we had to ask someone else.

Horrible experience--understand UHaul/Collegeboxes was inundated at the time for college students, but I received no proper follow-ups, called probably around 10x to various UHaul customer service lines in Hawaii/CA/General customer service and every time I was told that I'd be called back, I never was. People were nice on the phone, but kept telling me that "computer issues" were why they couldn't give me a single answer about the location of my belongings MONTHS after they were meant to be sent to me. I was living out of a suitcase for 5 months because of this, and if my university weren't paying for the shipment costs then I would be bringing up a very serious inquiry to the lack of customer support/communication by UHaul and Collegeboxes. Would not recommend to anyone.

It's incredibly difficult to get through to the right people via phone. Whenever I would call (I've used no less than 3 different numbers) I'd be transferred a minimum of three times and about half the time the call would fail at some point during one of the transfers and I'd have to start over again. Incredibly frustrating.

During the summer months it did get a bit over 85 though that was what the limit was supposed to be. Had some issues with the North elevator not working. Other than that I liked the facility and it served us well.

COMMUNICATION! If you would please just communicate what is going on with the boxes out in the field it would be nice. Pamela, the driver, was WONDERFUL once she arrived, however she arrived an hour later then the guaranteed drop-off time of noon to 4. I was on hold for OVER and hour with the 1-800# people who didn't know anything about anything and were less then friendly every time they put me back on hold. IT'S SIMPLE! Communicate!! If I hadn't been in the dire straights I was in to leave Cali I would have definitely cancelled them and found someone more COMMUNICATIVE!!

I thought the whole process was quick and efficient. I've rented from different locations but this one was huge, had plenty of space and excellent staff. The only improvement I might suggest is making it so you can automatically bill the credit card that I used to make the online reservation with. I made the reservation literally 1/2 an hour before picking up and I was asked to provide the card again. It's a small thing

I reserved a U-Box moving from Chicago to San Francisco bay area. My initial experience with U-haul was just wonderful. When I was going to book my box, it was super easy to book everything on U-haul website. It also recommended me a long list of some moving companies who would picked up the box, loaded it and returned it to U-Haul facility. However, the end of experience with U-haul was terrible. When my box had arrived to the destination, they informed me of it. I then needed to hire a moving company to again pick up my box, deliver it to my new address and unload it for me, but U-haul website didn't facilitate that part of process at all. I called them a few time to ask help with that stage of process and had to wait more than 25 minutes on the line each time to be able to talk to a representative. They then suggested me to use movinghelp.com website to find the suitable company, but those companies on that website were not associated with U-haul at all and some of them even didn't know what a U-box was and what I was asking them to do!!! So, I had to keep calling many and explain to them what job I needed them to do, in order to find one! This was an exhausting task in days that you have moved to another city and have to take care of a million things. So, it seems like U-haul does a great job when you are going to book the U-box with them... Everything can be done easily on their website, they connect you to a list of right companies who know what they are supposed to do, and you even get automatic text messages and some calls from U-haul representatives to answer your questions and assure you everything is arranged well. When your box has arrived to the destination and U-haul charges your credit card, they don't give a damn about you anymore!! You have to find a company to pick up your box yourself, and if you need to contact U-haul to ask any question, you have to wait on the line for 30 minutes to hear from them that they can't do anything for you in that stage and you need to hire a company to deliver and unload your stuff.

We received excellent service from this facility. Our 20' truck in Fremont was not available even though we had it reserved. The Santa Clara facilitated u-boxes to get our furniture two states away. Although the delivery will take longer then driving it ourselves, we were able to get some of our belongings ready to ship home.

I was NOT happy to hear there was no truck available less than 24 hours before the pick up time.

When I submitted my order, the website was constantly reinforcing the fact that you should order an additional uBox if you weren't sure if you needed it. I followed the directions and ordered a second uBox. When I didn't need the second one, instead of taking 1 uBox off of my order, it was automatically entered in as a new quote. Of course, by this time, the price of shipping had gone up about $1000. I had to spend more than an hour on the phone with corporate to get this sorted out. This location was also late dropping off my uBox. When I called the local store, I was transferred back and forth to different locations. After about 40 minutes of waiting, the lady on the phone (Amy I think her name was), was very rude to me when I asked for an ETA. It's very nerve wracking when you have flights scheduled and everything planned around your uBox schedule. Instead of empathizing with me, she told me to “go with the flow”. She started to tell me about how she had bad things happen to her recently and didn't get mad and instead just dealt with it, suggesting I do the same. This person does not belong in a customer facing role whatsoever. When it comes to the San Antonio location, it took me no less than 3 phone calls and a text to the general manager to get the uBox picked up. The general manager, Martin, instead of taking responsibility, tried to blame me for not picking up a call from an unknown number. No voicemail. What about the 3 times I called to get it scheduled for pick up? How about you stop blaming the customer and do your job?

I've had previous great experience with U-haul. This location was just horrible. Got there at 6:15 am to pick up the 26 foot truck as my 3-person moving crew was ready to go at 7 am for a local move. This location screwed up on the remote key access to get my truck n I had to wait until 9 am to get the truck n pay the movers an extra $200 for their lost hours. This location not only did not take responsibility for the screw up, not offering any discount, but gave me a filthy truck

I made an online reservation for a contactless pick-up. I was waiting for a verification code for the reservation and received it 2 days later. When checking in for my contactless pick up, I never received a code for a lockbox for the keys to my rental and I had to wait in line. Other than that, the couple of workers I interacted with were helpful. I called in to extend my rental a couple hours and didn't have any issues.

I have always rented from this facility multiple times in the 3-4 times a year. This is the first time I have had a terrible experience at check in and returning. First at check in they said my truck was in lane e it was not. I went back in after checking all the trucks. Told them it was not out there. They did not help me they just said it was. Found it way in the back off to the side with two other trucks that looked to be out of commission . The truck was very dirty. I went to my storage open the back there's was heap of used blankets -2 to be exact and a hand truck and a refrigerator rack. I call dallied the 800 number to tell them so I would not be charged for them.,then later when I was driving I kept hearing a noise I found empty beer cans under passenger seat. I was not happy I also noticed this truck had quite a bit of exhaust smell when driving more than it should have. I am now wandering if this truck was in the back because it had issues and needed servicing. Then when trying to put the gas back it kept spraying gas out . I tried another pump and did the same thing. When I picked it up it had 7/8 of a tank. I was able to get it to 2/4. I was trying to tell two people that I had an issue and they would not listen to me . Than the gut comes and tells me to goo I to gas station to fill it up. I told him I that is what I was trying to tell you. That ibgelt it was not safe for me to continue with the fueling of the truck. I asked to speak to manager and he just walked away. I tried getting another person to listen to me and nothing. I got frustrated and told them I would call the 800 number and let them know.

Uhaul ran out of Uboxes. They never called me to communicate this. They finally came a brought a box super late. Then they had issues picking it up and didn't communicate with that either. They picked it up a day late, which meant it shipped out late and arrived at the destination late. Overall the communication from Uhaul is absolutely terrible and caused lots of issues with my shipment. I will not be using them again. Not worth the money.

Negative - The facility requires only one type of lock, but that was not made clear prior to arrival. Without this lock, I would not be able to use the facility. The facility had run out. So we had to go get our own from Home Depot. Positive - I had gone to Southern California to get the last of my mother's belongings. I had missed estimating the actual size of storage I would need. The staff made it very easy for me to get the next larger size of unit. Also, I was not very happy with the lock situation and I was a bit short. The staff member treated me very well, even when I was short. My being short was my fault, and I congratulate the staff member for not reacting to my rudeness.

I did not rent a storage. I had reserved what I wanted online. I went into the location and was told my reservation didn’t matter. I wanted a 5x8 climate control. Was shown a 10x10 even when I said a 5x5 was probably fine. But wanted a 5x8 to be safe. I was assigned a storage that wasn’t climate controlled. So we went back to change it. Apparently the one I was given isn’t even a storage and the computer would not allow it to be changed. I spent over an hour only to leave without the storage I had reserved online.

The elevator was broken for several hours which ended up delaying my move time. Also, there were 50+ people from collegemoves (I think that's the company?) were all gathered around the entrance and constantly using the elevator once it started working. All of this caused my movers to take much longer than what was originally planned.. This ended up costing me a lot more money since the movers charge by the hour. On a positive side, Andrew was the one who helped me make the reservation and was really amazing. Kudos to him.

The staff are actually quite nice and very helpful. However, the door to the climate controlled area which is supposed to be opened for only renters of a storage unit, is open to anyone without needing to use the access card. There is no control on who enters the facility, so I personally felt unsafe leaving my stuff there. A paper notice at the elevator entrance that said “don’t store mattresses. Fee will be charged”. In my storage unit, there was a rat trap. The ceiling did not flush with the walls of the unit and the AC did not properly work which made the odors in the facility nauseating. The cost is the cheapest in the Bay Area, so it does align with the condition of the facility. I ended up checking out the following day after renting one unit since I found another facility at a much better condition (higher cost as well) that better suits my needs. This place is great to store items that don’t need much care such as sky set, bicycles, table and lamp stand. Clothes, furniture, etc run the risk of exposure to pests.

The reservation was for a outside drive-up unit but I was given an indoor unit for the same price (should be cheaper) because the outdoor units were apparently sold out. It sucks that even though I paid a full month on 4/8/2020, that when I moved out on 4/11/2020, the rent was NOT prorated. This is a cheap decision considering that the unit will most likely be rented out immediately. Feel free to contact me but honestly this is one of MANY issues that I have had.
