The truck seemed to be a little rough, as if it did not have enough go power; would choke when gas peddle applied. Also, the front end alignment seemed to be alittle off, truck would go more to the right. Otherwise the customer service there was great. My other thing, is that I had previously reserved and then got a call 2 days before saying there wasn't a truck available for me (needed the 26ft); my order was cancelled. I then called back that day, got transfered and disconnected. After a lenghly call.Had to call a third time, and then find that my reservation did not have the unlimited miles (return to same location) or I would have reserved with the return to a closer location of my move. Thus paying the extra mileage. I called and the gal said someone would look into. Hoping this is still the case.

The whole experience needs to improve! I had the worst experience with U-Haul as a whole. Customer service was not knowledgeable at all which led to a very stressful move which I was unable to complete. I didn't receive the trailer or unit that I was reserved for. I had to pay for a much bigger trailer even tho there was smaller ones available. I didn't get the free unit I was offered. I was hung up on, transferred without being told & when I. Was in the middle of telling the rep my issue like it wasn't his problem. I was told many things & none of them came about! The only things positive in this experience was Alex at this location & Lindsey at customer service. That's it. I have wrote to better business bureau & I will be writing to the ceo about this. Worst experience.

U-Haul Storage of Santa Clara has provided an awesome customer experience for my wife and I for over 3+ years. We've had a storage unit at their facility, changed units, had U-Boxes delivered there from out of state, bought moving supplies on multiple occasions (and returned some boxes) and recently I rented a U-Haul truck using their mobile app to seamlessly pick up and return the vehicle. The staff here are second-to-none- everyone here always goes above and beyond for their customers! Big shout out to the managers Michael and Terrie, who make sure the facility runs smoothly and seamlessly for customers' moving and storage needs. Nathan is my go-to guy- he's always super friendly and helpful every time I'm there. Donna keeps the entire storage facility sparkling clean, looks out for the customers and provides a warm welcome as you come and go. Several other staff have been helpful on multiple occasions, whose names I don't remember, but my thanks to them as well. Whether you're looking for a safe, secure and clean place to store things, a U-Haul truck for a local or long-distance move, or just some moving supplies, you can count on U-Haul Storage of Santa Clara for their exceptional service!

I used the Uhaul app. I was impressed with how easy everything was. I do wish there was an email ahead of time explaining the step by step procedure picking up and dropping off. I was in a hurry dropping off and I did not realize that I had to take various pictures, etc. Or maybe even saying, expect returning your vehicle through the app to take 5-10 minutes.

Hands down best U-Haul and storage unit rental experience I've ever had. Crew in the office was friendly and helpful, and the lady who showed me to my locker was a sweetheart. She also kept the places very clean! She kept saying how she just waxed the floor that morning, and you could tell!

When I placed the order I specifically asked to have the Ubox stored in Oakland as that is where I was moving to from San Jose. The rep told me that was not an option. Upon further research I discovered that the Ubox could have been stored in Oakland and the company was just trying to charge me an additional $150 to capitalize off the mileage. Scheduling my Ubox to be delivered was a disaster. The first time I called I was on hold for a total of 30 minutes because the rep could not find my reservation in the system and for whatever reason would not rectify the situation. My Ubox was listed under a corporate transfer for Stanford University under a males name. I called again the next day and spoke to a lady who was very helpful. She was able to find my reservation, change the name to mine and secure/pay for my delivery. Three days before my move I received an email from Uhaul that my moved was cancelled but the email was addressed to another person. I responded via email to address that they had the wrong person and to confirm that my move was still secured. All and all this dealing with Uhaul as a company was far more of a headache than the move itself. It's very difficult to get a rep on the phone, it's clearly disorganized as seen in the orders and emails with the wrong names, and to find I was charged an extra $150 when the option I asked for is disappointing. I have used Uhaul for over 7 years for my moves and have never had this kind of experience before. Won't use again.

When I booked the appointment, I got a phone call saying I couldn't and it would be cancelled. I had to argue with the person on the phone to get the reservation moved to the next day, and still felt like it was an argument. If it wasn't a dire need, I would have gone with another company right then. He quoted me my price and we went on with the reservation. The truck was clean-ish, but the front left shock was clearly going out. Rough ride the whole way. When dropping off the truck, the individual wasn't very professional and confirmed the quoted price as what we would pay. When I received my bill it was over $100 more. After a long talk with the manager of the location, I still feel like it was hidden fees and they were not honest with us. U-Haul has lost a customer from all of this. Not a major loss on your part and not one on my part either, but still unfortunate.

Let customers know when Uboxes will be delivered and kept on trailers. This effects placement and therefore the amount of time movers need to be booked. Also you should be able to deliver/pick-up trailers any day of the week. No weekends made it difficult to coordinate and led to me having to spend a lot of time on the phone with your staff and movers.

U-haul is so far the only reliable and on-demand place I can find to provide me relocation services. Maggie from Santa Clara helped got the temporary storage unit and truck, and patiently walked through all the steps of getting the services I needed. It is such a relif that people from U-haul Santa Clara are friendly and helpful.

Negative - The facility requires only one type of lock, but that was not made clear prior to arrival. Without this lock, I would not be able to use the facility. The facility had run out. So we had to go get our own from Home Depot. Positive - I had gone to Southern California to get the last of my mother's belongings. I had missed estimating the actual size of storage I would need. The staff made it very easy for me to get the next larger size of unit. Also, I was not very happy with the lock situation and I was a bit short. The staff member treated me very well, even when I was short. My being short was my fault, and I congratulate the staff member for not reacting to my rudeness.

Please check the tire pressure on the trucks. The front right tire started losing air almost immediately during my 375 mile drive and I had to stop at a gas station every hour to refill as the warning light for the tire pressure gauge kept coming on.

Alex at this location was a big help to me, even stayed after to ensure that I got my rental after UHAUL screwed up on my reservation and sent me to Hayward. After being on hold for 30 minutes someone finally answered and found me a trailer in Santa Clara and Alex stayed after to help me out greatly.

I had a reservation for a ten foot truck once upon arrival the cashier refused to look for my reservation number on his system and insisted I give him my name he was very unprofessional and rude. Finally he found my reservation but they didn't have any ten foot trucks I was forced to rent a cargo van and go to two different location u-haul. I'm a very upset and unsatisfied customer I will not be using u-haul again

Extremely organized location with quick helpful workers. Didn't have to wait, very polite and took care of unhooking my trailer fast and efficiently. Drove 25 min out of my way to go to this location because of the great reviews. Other locations had terrible customer service. UHaul should do something about that so folks don't have to drive so far, in high traffic, just to get good service. These places represent UHaul and UHaul should read the reviews and do better for their customers who are generating UHaul a lot of income. No one should have to suffer bad customer service when trying to move their lives.

I did not rent a storage. I had reserved what I wanted online. I went into the location and was told my reservation didn’t matter. I wanted a 5x8 climate control. Was shown a 10x10 even when I said a 5x5 was probably fine. But wanted a 5x8 to be safe. I was assigned a storage that wasn’t climate controlled. So we went back to change it. Apparently the one I was given isn’t even a storage and the computer would not allow it to be changed. I spent over an hour only to leave without the storage I had reserved online.

I tried three weeks to rent a trailer.... all three times the rug was pulled on the move the day before it was supposed to happen. Never a trailer available without having to drive and extra hour while passing to different Uhaul stores.... you cannot call without waiting 45 minutes to speak to an agent.....once I arrived at a store 1 hour from my home everything went fine!

The elevator was broken for several hours which ended up delaying my move time. Also, there were 50+ people from collegemoves (I think that's the company?) were all gathered around the entrance and constantly using the elevator once it started working. All of this caused my movers to take much longer than what was originally planned.. This ended up costing me a lot more money since the movers charge by the hour. On a positive side, Andrew was the one who helped me make the reservation and was really amazing. Kudos to him.

The car I was assigned is pretty bad. The window cannot block off wind so there is a lot of noise in high-way. And the two side back mirror cannot be digitally adjusted so I have to manually adjust the angle of them, which is very difficult.

I was told that I was given a truck that I wasn't suppose to because I unknowingly gave them my ID card and not my drivers license. Also the truck I was given battery died and I brung it in to exchange it for a new truck and when I came back I was told that there is 1500$ worth of damage that the somehow didn't see when I first returned the truck.

This was a truly awful process. My issues boiled down to these: 1. U-Haul recommended 1 box for my 600 sqft apartment. I filled 2 TO THE BRIM. Had I ordered the recommended 1, I would have been screwed. 2. My delivery date CHANGED AFTER I BOOKED IT, scheduled flights, and planned my move, and I wasn't told of this fact. I just ran into it on my reservation. After 7 PHONE CALLS with U-Haul, someone was finally able to tell me that they had no idea how it changed and was able to put it back. 3. The boxes arrived on a trailer that used ramps, which made it INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO MOVE THINGS IN OR OUT. These things are supposed to sit on the ground. One of them was ratcheted to the trailer in such a way that it LOCKED THE DOOR CLOSED. 4. The boxes did not have the waterproof covers and were literally UNLABELED PLYWOOD SHACKS sitting in my parking lot. My arms were covered in splinters by the end of it, and they didn't have tie-offs on the inside to anchor things down. 5. The person who delivered the trailer and boxes tried to leave the trailer in a way that one ramp was on the sidewalk (no ramps near it) and the other was running into a parking spot cement block, MAKING NEITHER ONE ACCESSIBLE and was annoyed when asked to move them to a workable location. 6. U-Haul LOST TRACK OF MY BOXES for a few hours when it showed that they had already been picked up, when they were in fact still in my parking lot. 7. When the boxes finally arrived at my final location, the bottom of one was SO BROKEN THAT THE DOOR WAS SEALED SHUT, required 3 people to open it, and couldn't have a standard padlock on it because the locking mechanism could no longer align. I honestly expected U-Haul to be better than this, but I will HAPPILY tell anyone looking not to move to NOT USE U-HAUL'S U-BOX SERVICE.

I reserved a 5x8 trailer in Sunnyvale, CA for my move. 2 days prior I was contacted saying there was no trailers available within 50 miles for me to rent. 1st why would I be required to drive 50 miles to pick up a trailer when my reservation was confirmed at Sunnyvale? 2nd, the associate did not want to help me get another piece of moving equipment. Moving is already stressful and then to hear that the trailer you need to complete the move is not available and there is nothing the company can do to help you out is devastating. Finally after pleading with the associate on the phone, i was able to get something, but it was not what I wanted or was promised when I made the reservation. Not a good experience picking up the uhaul

For what we paid, it seemed ridiculous not to have an air conditioner work, especially with the heat in the three digits. Also, the brakes did not work well and it took forever to stop. Also, it was loud. Furthermore, the labels on the truck were backwards (front corner of truck). There also seemed to be no power for climbing up hills. Our experience with Home Depot and renting their trucks was a much better experience. I'm highly disappointed and as we look at moving me from Idaho to California, I'm definitely looking into alternatives.

My U-Haul experience was absolutely horrible! Nothing worked, it was a massive chaos. First, I ordered a U-Box Container (student on campus) which was supposed to be delivered on a certain date. I was then called by someone who told me I should just pick a box that was standing around on campus, but that was not possible because all the boxes were locked. I then got another call when someone by coincidence was on campus and was able to unlock a box for me, so I picked one. I then called again saying that I didn't need a box delivered to me because I was able to choose one on campus, and ordered movers (via U-Haul) to help me load the box. However, they didn't show up, so I had to do everything by myself. When I wanted to box delivered back to campus upon my return, I was first on the phone for about 2 hours before someone said she could help me, but instead or scheduling my box to be delivered back, she ordered a new box to be brought by truck for another $340. I then had to call again (waiting for hours on the line and being passed back and forth between agents) to cancel that new order, and was told that they wouldn't bring my box back to campus, but that I had to drive to the storage facility myself to empty it. So I did that, and called 3 times beforehand (a month in advance, 2 weeks in advance, and 1 week in advance) to let them know that I was going to need access to my box, and was assured that my box would be ready. When I arrived at the facility, the box was NOT ready, and I had to wait another 45 minutes for it to be brought outside. When I then wanted to end the rental period, apparently the system didn't work and I was told that they would call me later to settle everything and put the return of my box into the system. Nobody ever called me. I still need a refund of the rest of the month that I already paid in advance, and was told on the phone that this would be processed after I returned the box, but I haven't received the refund. So I now request the refund for the period of September 4 -18 asap!

Customer Service is terrible. I would spend 30 mins waiting for a representative, and then was 1. Either given to someone who had no idea what they were doing, and would give me false information, or 2. I would be transferred to another line and wait. Every time I tired calling, I never got someone who could help- I had to wait for Uhual to call me. Overall, the price of the cost to ship was cheaper amongst competition... but I don't think we want to deal with the hassle again. Shout out to Kristin who delivered and pick'ed up our u box. You were awesome.

The scheduling and confirmation date process was confusing. I had scheduled a day for the Uboxes to arrive online, but they didn't arrive until a couple of days later due to scheduling conflicts. The online tool should be the source of truth since it is easily accessible. It took me over an hour and 7 call transfers to confirm that my boxes weren't coming on the day that I expected. Once everything was scheduled, the staff was friendly and the boxes were delivered as expected.

The problem is not with the facility or employees it's with u haul. The customer service with scheduling is horrible. I schedule for a trailer at a facility closer to my house. A day before pick up I noticed the pickup was move 39 miles away. After complaining about the scheduling and lack of notifications to customer the found a trailer The trailer leaked which I found out once I arrived at my location in Washington.

The staff are actually quite nice and very helpful. However, the door to the climate controlled area which is supposed to be opened for only renters of a storage unit, is open to anyone without needing to use the access card. There is no control on who enters the facility, so I personally felt unsafe leaving my stuff there. A paper notice at the elevator entrance that said “don’t store mattresses. Fee will be charged”. In my storage unit, there was a rat trap. The ceiling did not flush with the walls of the unit and the AC did not properly work which made the odors in the facility nauseating. The cost is the cheapest in the Bay Area, so it does align with the condition of the facility. I ended up checking out the following day after renting one unit since I found another facility at a much better condition (higher cost as well) that better suits my needs. This place is great to store items that don’t need much care such as sky set, bicycles, table and lamp stand. Clothes, furniture, etc run the risk of exposure to pests.

The customer service rep DJ was simply AMAZING! He was so helpful and knowledgable about the Uhaul product that it made the whole process easy for us - his keen insight on what uhaul storage would be best for us saved us precious manual labor, preventing us from renting a wrong size storage unit - he was a lifesaver! He is not only an amazing uhaul rep for his insight - he was genuinely nice and was extremely patient with us while we were trying to figure everything out - I could not recommend him more! The facility itself was also extremely clean and equipment up-to-date.

My reservation did not reserve a unit but only gathered personal information to speed up the real reservation process which happens on site. How is that a reservation? The reservation was for a outside drive-up unit but I was given an indoor unit for the same price (should be cheaper) because the outdoor units were apparently sold out. The employee helping me was friendly but failed to provide sufficient information unless queried and the whole process felt rushed.

It sucks that even though I paid a full month on 4/8/2020, that when I moved out on 4/11/2020, the rent was NOT prorated. This is a cheap decision considering that the unit will most likely be rented out immediately. Feel free to contact me but honestly this is one of MANY issues that I have had. The facility itself is great but the people running it are lacking in excellent customer service.
