U-haul is guilty of false advertising. When I made my reservation I was not informed by the service rep who helped me that the rate on my $19.95/day van rental would increase based on mileage use. Had I known this I would have just hired a moving company. As it turned out it was more expensive to rent a u-haul and break my back for 12 hours and the backs of my friends who offered to help than it would have been to hire a moving company to do all the work for me, but because U-haul hid the real cost of a rental until the last minute I didn't realize this until the day I picked up the van, which was too late to change/cancel my rental or hire a moving company instead.

The uhaul had a large gash on the top and leaked water like a sieve and caused thousands of dollars in damages. The back door also didnt seal. The person was helpful when we were first there, I just wish I had seen the damage before we starting packing it. Very poor quality control, you could see where they had tried (and failed) to repair it.

Great customer service from the young lady that helped me. I called before my arrival on a cold snowy day and the van was warmed up and ready to roll when I got there. One of the best vehicle rental experiences I’ve ever had, and I rent quite a few vehicles. It’s also convenient that the rental location is also a gas station. I gassed the van up and the same young lady came out to greet me and then completed the rental inspection right there at the pump. It doesn’t get better or easier than that. Keep up the good work!

Grossly overcharged for Miles. I’m sure the paperwork says to validate, so not much can be done. But I was charged over 3x the miles.

Rudest people I've dealt with in a long time. I should have listened to people who had used them before. advertise one price and charge another. never going to give U-Haul another chance. These people shouldn't have a franchise!

Fulfilled my expectations for a gas station/head shop/UHaul center. Hoping girl who did my reservation was stoned, otherwise she is brain dead. Guy who worked with me when I picked up the truck was great but printer wouldn’t work and had wrong truck in system for me.

I called to reserve an auto transport. They said so on-line so I did. Then in early December I called to ensure would be there. Nope. They said would get one. My wife began to call U-haul (main not the location) and was told that would not happen. So I said reserve the dolly they did have. When I went to pick it up that took 50 minutes even though I’d done the “express on-line”. The destination had altered and they couldn’t change it back. Things were not fixed until the following am by the Anchorage office. One of the tires seemed worn and sure enough it blew in the mountains at 20 below zero. I’m was about 200 miles from any repair place. Fortunately I had a spare from one of my personal trailers. The only thing she did correctly was to not charge me what the computer said and defer to what I had been quoted online and for which I had a printout.

The drop off location personnel was clueless about my rental and unable to find my records. They copied my reservation and advised me they would clear up the following day. This never happened and I continued to get phone calls from uhaul inquiring when I was going to return the truck. It is funny that they called my cell phone on Friday 12/20/19 asking when I would be returning the truck, but on 12/21/19 (when I told the reservation location I would drop off the truck) they had no records? I had to call back a couple times to clear up. Hopefully it is done now, yet my confidence in the same remains unknown. I still am waiting for a final invoice.

Making a reservation in person could be easier. There were several people waiting and the computer was not working right, I had to leave and come back later. Picking up the vehicle and dropping it off, on the other hand, was fast and smooth. Michelle was outstanding at customer service.

The representative was rude, was on her cell phone the entire time, and did not have me check the vehicle for damage or the odometer. She would not give me the equipment keys before I signed paperwork (to verify I was signing out the correct vehicle). Very unprofessional staff and they sell marijuana bongs and pipes in the same location. Not at all what I would have expected from a Uhaul location. I would absolutely not recommend this place of business to a friend.

The 2019 Ford 650 performed beautifully. Easy to drive and handled very well on ice covered roads from Haines to Palmer. The truck was very clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I do have one small petty complaint. No cup holders in the truck.

The owner is friendly, the staff are not. The employed staff have no customer service hospitality. They have overcharged on fuel and argued that we were responsible for fuel we did not use. Refusing reimbursement and referring us to corporate. If there was another rental option in town we would use it. Cannot refer people to this location unless it is out of despairation.

Very hectic location. They’re not just a uhaul, and run 3 other services out of a small building with only 2 employees assisting. I was also charged $10 for the insurance I declined.

The counter person that rented the van to me was excellent. The van ran well and was clean. My complaint is with the contract. The "$19.95 per day is clearly deceptive". My total for 8 days was $332 or so. $0.99 per mile is ridiculously expensive. I have some more rentals coming up in another part of Alaska. Clearly, I will try a different company.

The truck that was given to us had dash lights on, and was semi-dirty. Then when it was returned, we got charged for "damages" that I couldn't see with a naked eye, and were likely part of the lack of care they showed before we got the truck.

I think they are just getting started, but be sure to call & talk to them directly, they don't seem to have everything the website offers. The truck was great though, brand new & ran great. Cost was a little higher than expected.

The van was given to me with only 1/4 tank of fuel. I attempted to contact the rep after discovering this after driving off with no success. I did return the truck with a full tank but at a cost of $111.00 with only using it for about 20 miles worth of fuel.

Michelle was kind and courteous setting up our rental. Making sure we had mattress covers, a dolly and blankets. Days before our rental I received a phone call from a rude service representative. I did not catch his name. He stated the uhaul I rented a month in advance of my out of state move was not available and I was being upgraded to a 15’ truck from a 10’ truck. I already had a paid reservation on the Alaska state ferry for the 10’ truck and was leaving in 8 days. He repeated several times that due to the Alaska state ferry strike my reserved truck was no longer available. When in fact the strike had ended several weeks before. I was at work at the time of the call, on a short break and unable to continue the conversation. I returned the call back on my next break, the same representative became loud and belligerent that the change was not his fault and don’t I know about the strike, and began cursing. I stated I would be calling his supervisor. My online account was locked. I arrived to pick up my truck on the 23rd per my reservation, and the business was closed. I called the 800 #, was transferred twice, to a rep who already knew my name though I had not given it, she was condescending and rude. I offered to send her my text reservation showing 8 am pick up. The business sign showed an 11 am opening, the rep offered a 9 am pick up. I agreed and immediately received a text with the new pick up time of 9 am. The original reservation had also been changed. The dolly was removed and my return date was changed to a day earlier than I needed. The rep fixed the return date. I returned at 9 am to an uneventful pick up. The service rep was again kind and courteous! The local rep at the drop off destination was also helpful and kind. Long story short the phone reps need more training in customer service.

The truck needs some air in the left front tire. And when was asked at the front desk she said it’s ok but the lights signal was on so we put some in. On the second day the light shows up that the truck needs oil change soon. I hope that they can do better next time. Their hours of operation not very convenient but it’s okay
