This was a very painful experience. I spoke with the Manager, Matt, at the Uhaul location in Herndon, VA to schedule a pick up for July 24th in Winchester, VA for a 15ft truck. Matt confirmed my reservation, but the confirmation email I was sent stated West Virginia as the pick up location. I called the Herndon facility numerous times over a couple days, and when I finally spoke with Matt again, he said he was unable to fix the location and said I needed to call VA traffic control, however, he gave me Maryland's Traffic Control Number. I spoke with Ephriam on 7/15/21 at the MD Traffic Control. He said he fixed my pick up location to be Winchester, VA, but recommended I still call VA Traffic Control to verify, and provided the correct phone number. I called VA Traffic control and spoke with Ivania on 7/16/21. She stated that, unbelievably, no one had updated my reservation yet, and the pick-up location was still WV. Ivania claimed she updated the pick up location to be at Sunoco, North Loudoun Street, Winchester VA at 9am, Saturday, July 24th. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the Sunoco/North Loudoun Street location, a gentleman, "K" (Short for Karul, I believe he said), informed me they did not have a truck for me. Per his system, my reservation was for the following day, Sunday July 25th, even though my email confirmation/reservation states the correct date being Saturday the 24th. I spent an hour there calling different Uhaul locations and having K call different Uhaul locations to find an available Uhaul. K called VA Traffic Control, who scheduled me to pick up a truck in Ward Plaza. I arrived at the Uhaul dealer in Ward Plaza and had an unpleasant experience from a customer service perspective, with the lady working. Additionally, the computer was down which added another 20 minutes onto the process of checking out. All in all, this was a very difficult experience and it took an hour and forty minutes to get the Uhaul after arriving. I appreciated K's effort at the Sunoco/Loudoun Street location in finding me a truck, however, due to this entire ordeal I would not utilize Uhaul's services again.AARONSIRIUS L.

No suggestion for improvement. Did not have to go into office. Gal was outside working on another rental when I pulled up. She asked if I was dropping off the trailer. She entered the relevant info on her handheld device and showed me where to unhitch the trailer. Fast and efficient. In less than 5 minutes I was on my way. Paperwork followed via email. No hassle about being a little over 48 hours.HS N.

When you have posted hours of 9-5 there is an expectation that there will be someone there to help you. Also, the check in and drop off application is useless. It doesn't work. Finally, I dropped off at 3 pm the day before and was charged for the extra day since there was no way to check in properly. Received a bill 24 hrs later. Not good customer service.Lisa B.

Truck is mechanically in poor shape. Steering is very very soft Fuel gauge read as full but when I went to fill after just 30 miles of use it took over 15 gallons and hadn't even filled ip the tank. Then when parking the truck it suddenly read empty. This is a big problemSTEVENJAMES B.

Whoever the lady is behind the counter should probably get off the phone with her boyfriend (who sounded like he was in jail) when customers come in and not talk about her â€œname change but things to need to change before that happens.â€ She should not be on the phone with anyone having a conversation while in the middle of helping customers.Melissa T.

Original mileage calculations were based on door to door from my home in sterling VA to the storage in Clifton forge VA. I was promised an extra 100 miles to cover the distance of the pickup location and drop off location. This never happened. Alternatively a higher (attainable) estimated mileage from the beginning would have been helpful.James B.
Picked up truck. Also rented 2 dollys.. Spoke to employee hours prior to pickup, she noted she was going to place dollys in truck.Got the truck home and no dollys. Were fully charged for both of them on final bill..still no refund. Truck power steering was AWFUL.. Back door kept coming off track.. Save your time and go to a better location!!!William T.

The staff was excellent. Got in and out of there quickly. The truck served it's purpose but there was hot air blowing directly on my right foot. I suspect that it was a gap in the engine cover because I only felt it while moving. The temperature outside was 90 degrees and the hot air from the engine made it worse. It was a short trip...no harm.David D.

Chose this drop off location due to being open on Sunday. Sign in the front door said closed for the day and will be open Monday at 9 am. No big dealMARKWEBB P.
You are communications challenged. You advertise you are open on Sunday both in your voicemail and on you hours sign. When I arrived the office was closed there was a sign that said that you were closed but not what to do. You might consider that this action does nothing but annoy customers. How about a sign that says "we are closed. If you are returning a vehicle please follow the following instructions and your receipt will be emailed/mailed to you." It would fill in the gapes and you might retain customers. The attitued at present is we don't have the people to run the office so we are closed - tough. Not a great way to keep customers.TARZAN D.

When I checked the trailer at night. I saw that the License plate light was not working. The wire was completely broken off. Also, noticed halfway to destination that one of the right tires had a chip in the tread all the way to pressure ply of the tire, that could have easily caused a blowout.MICHAEL B.

Truck check engine light came on as I was returning it. It was having some difficulty accelerating on hills. Also could feel the trailer brake engaging but not disengaging. Service was good, but connectability to check in online and do walk around was spotty and time consuming.DAVID F.

Not familiar with the area, it was difficult to find. No signage on the road, tiny sign above storefront. Saw other trucks parked there as we drove past.that's how we found it. The woman who checked us in was very friendly, met us out in the parking lot as soon as we pulled in.Edward O.

We originally wanted to rent a uhaul for 7 days. On the website the max time we could rent was 24hours. When I spoke with the first uhaul rep on the phone, she told me the next day the uhaul needed to be returned by 8am. I called uhaul customer service back and got a lady on the phone who was less than pleasant. I told her we originally wanted to rent a uhaul for 7 days, which her reply made me feel like I was an idiot for even thinking to do something like that. I told her ok thank you that was all I needed and we hung up the phone. In the mean time, my husband and I rented a storage unit. When we arrived to pick up the uhaul we were treated terribly and lectured that we better return the uhaul or we'd be reported as stealing the uhaul. The man was not nice and was acting like WE had done something wrong, and kept telling us we better not take the uhaul??? We then were only allowed to have the uhaul until 11pm the same day, when originally it was 8am the next day. We were told if it was a minute late, he'd call the police to report the uhaul stolen? For one, we aren't thiefs. Seconds, I simply asked the customer service rep on the phone if I could rent it for 7 days. When she said no, we made other arrangements. It was THAT simple. If you go back and listen to our phone call which I highly advice you to do, I never once made it seem like we'd keep the uhaul. I didn't fight with her or make it seem like we would keep the uhaul. I was kind and hung up to hurry and make new plans. We were COMPLETELY belittled by your company, and treated like BAD people simply for asking if we could rent a uhaul for a week. Secondly, BOTH of your employees lacked any type of customer service skills. Absolutely no excuse for your employees actions. We need a uhaul now on May 7 and because of this experience we will take our business elsewhere.Taylor V.

The clerk/associate had left a note on the door â€œOut to lunch, be back at 3:00 pm.â€ When I arrived there was already a customer waiting. The clerk/associate did not return until 3:33 pm. My scheduled pickup was at 3:30 pm. The clerk smelled of marijuana and the truck I was given had not been swept out. The store needs to be staffed by someone more professional.JASONLEON L.
