The customer experience any time you have to use U-Haul is clunky at best and closer to shady at worst. I understand that you are renting depreciable assets to people who can prove they have a license, a pulse, and a valid credit card, but it can come across like you believe all of your customers are criminals. There are proper channels for dealing with criminals and it isn't your pickup and return process. The number of warning labels on the inside and outside of your trucks prove that for every mistake, there is a syicker The local dealers do their best to navigate this process but they don't always have clear instructions to give to the common peasants who rent your equipment. As one of these common peasants, I understand that the dealer may have 5 other businesses in the same building so my expectations are low. I do my best not to judge the dealer for getting in league with a giant of industry but money is money, I get it.

When ordered the truck I added an appliance dolly. After picking the vehicle up and reaching our destination we realized the dolly was not in the vehicle. We called and talked with the same person I picked the truck up from and he stated he would remove the price of the dolly from our bill. We had to go and rent another one from the local Menards since we were not close to the rental station. We returned the truck on time of the rental agreement but after the person had left the gas station for the night. He told me prior that if it was after 6pm I could just return it on-line. He failed to tell me what all was required for on-line returns and I did not know all the pictures that was required and information needed until after I had already turned the key into the lock box which I could not get back to properly fill out all that was needed for the return. A few days later when I received the final bill from U-Haul it still had the $10 for the appliance dolly listed. I went to the gas station and talked to the same gentleman and reminded him that we had called the day we picked up the vehicle and he said he would remove the $10 fee but I was told I would have to take it up with U-Haul. I told him that when we filled out the return on-line we checked that we did not agree with the total due to the $10 fee and just asked if he could change the final amount to reflect the removal of the $10 fee, again he said I had to take it up with U-Haul and it wasn't his responsibility and he wouldn't take it off the final bill. I told him I was not impressed with the way he handled the issue and walked out. As far as dealing with that gas station or the other 2 they own in my town I will never do business with them again, very unprofessional dealing with clients with a simple question. As far as using U-Haul again...I have used them a few times over the years but if they are going to contract with people like this then I will be re-thinking using them in the future. It's not that $10 is going to break me financially its the fact how it was handled by someone who owns a business that I'm sure would want to maintain repeat customers and the fact that he is a representative of U-Haul. Overall the vehicle was fine and worked but the customer interaction was handled poorly.

Have the return website fixed. I rented a trailer, and upon return, it kept asking for mileage, gas, and odometer photo... can't happen on a trailer.

The truck was not ready, it had a check engine light, the brake pedal was not smooth and would stick, the connection to the trailer lights did not work for the brakes or turn signals. It took over and hour to final get switched to a different truck and that one was not much better, it had issues maintaining idle and died a couple time slowing to a stop. It did restart easy though.

Improve customer service. Gas station attendant did not care, nor did the individuals from uhaul with whom I had to deal with in order to find out why the price was so much higher than originally said. I wasted 3 hours getting a trailer, while my movers where sitting around waiting for me, on the clock. When I asked for an additional day, I was charged more. You took my time and my money.

The employee was on the phone through my entire transaction. Thats just disrespectful. I only needed the uhaul for moving a chair and couch from Ball Furniture store to my home a mile away. The transmission light was on in the truck and I would be VERY concerned if I needed this truck for a serious move.

I have rented from this particular u haul pick up establishment many many times before, and for many yrs.. TODAY WAS THE UTMOST WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE RECIEVED. They charged me things that I have never ever been charged before. Needless to say,a $39,95 charge ended out to be a $70 charge for less than 3hrs. Of usage of said truck. When I inquired about the extra charges and explain that I have NEVER PAID THEM BEFORE. The gas station attendant was rather rude and short, and told me to call 1-800-gouhaul to get my money back. I can't even give a1 on this, they don't even deserve that.

I had a very hard time getting into the driver seat since there was not a bar or step to get to the door step. Once I got home, I used a step stool to get in.

This location is a joke. We dropped it off but they told us the right person wasn't there to “check it in” but they stated they would take care of it. Luckily I had the mind to take a time stamped photo if the trailer unhitched from my truck in their parking lot. Two days later they charged me a late fee and an after hours drop off fee. I had to calll over and over again just to get someone to answer. They told me it was my fault and that I should have dropped it off after hours. I dropped it at 3pm on a Wednesday….I hope I never have to deal with this place again. Terrible

Grease was inside unit. Facility didn't know how to hook up equipment..good thing I did. Facility is gas station mini mart while waiting on me I had to wait while he sold pop and cigarettes to anyone coming in store. I was delayed 20 minutes waiting to be completed. Was asked to check my own lights..hard to step and brakes and see trailer lights.

Help was great. Only comment I have is that you need to tell people if they are going to try to sign in by not going inside they will need to have multiple forms of verification to prove that they are who they are BEFORE they try to sign in remotely. I ended up going in when I found out all the needed doc/phone numbers. Completely understand why, but wish I had known beforehand. (Unless I missed it in the fine print somewhere)

Employee was unfriendly and unhelpful. In my haste, I didn't notice until afterwards but I was given the wrong Equipment Contract. Additionally, I needed to print out a Transload Agreement as I was picking up my second 15' U-Haul after the first 15' U-Haul truck refused to start. I didn't have access to a printer and nicely asked if I could use the gas station's printer. He refused and I had to resort to driving to a local library to use their printer. Ensuring your employees understand the concept of good customer service would be a nice start for improvement of this facility.

Asked to pick up vehicle at Jake's body shop. Was sent to another facility extending my mileage by 24 miles. Then, despite knowing where I was going and returning, I was charged for 15 miles over. Not good. Foul. Your fault, my penalty. I have a lot of moving to do. Ryder for me from now on.

Attendant was curt and not terribly pleasant or easy to understand. Wasn't comfortable there. It was clean, and he did come around at the end, but, first impression was not good. Foreign management, perhaps a cultural thing.

Add information to the online ordering process that describes this as an unattended and drop off point, but not a full service location. Called the local number, response was “this is a gas station, not a uhaul drop point.” Realized it was unattended and followed instructions online. Again, would have been helpful to know this is a remote/unstaffed location.

The online return procedure was an absolute joke. The app was not working (on multiple phones and devices). When calling the 1-800 number for help, I was on hold for an hour, only to never receive help. Luckily, the app eventually starting working. Once the checkout system was completed, I was kicked out of the app without instructions on how to return the keys. We searched the building and found a Dropbox. Hopefully that's where the keys were supposed to go. After dealing with that for an hour (with a toddler waiting in my car!), I don't think I'll ever use U-Haul again, unfortunately. What could be a simple, user friendly service just didn't hit the mark. If the entire system was improved, or if the pricing was lowered to meet the service quality, I'd consider continuing to use it. Otherwise, I'm just highly disappointed that I spent over $100 for this frustration.

When we went to pick up the truck it wasn't there we were given the runaround and a bill for one truck with the truck number marked out with the truck they gave us written on it and then emailed another truck information so when I returned it it was a total nightmare. I had no idea what was the true mileage of the truck it was a true start gas

Have the equipment that was scheduled actually be available for scheduled pick up. I was sent picture for pre-inspection for a totally different truck, at a different location. When truck FINALLY arrived, the front of truck was completely covered in bugs. Understandably, the agent didn't have time to clean it because I had already been waiting 3 hours for the truck to arrive. I asked for a discount, and was given a whopping $10 off. I appreciate Uhaul's low prices, but am going to do a lot more research on the agentt before renting again.
